Vitra stood just past the entrance to the reserve with Midori standing at her side, all too thrilled at this venture which she hoped would increase her team and wondering which pokemon she'd see during it. Midori looked up at her, bright and eager to get going, and Vitra grinned back at the Ivysaur before starting off, the grass type trotting alongside, both of them scanning the undergrowth to see what would show up first.

A venonat! Vitra recognized the round, fuzzy creature quickly enough; she stopped in her tracks and watched it for a moment. It was eating, possibly oblivious to Vitra and Midori as it munched away. The young trainer glanced down at Midori to find the ivysaur looking back, and a gesture of her hand was enough for the grass-type. With only a quiet grunt of effort, she hurtled forward at the bug-type, intent on tackling it full on in hopes of causing enough damage in one move- without doing too much and knocking it out. It was a gamble, and Vitra hoped it would pay off for her.

It wasn't quick to get back up, instead shrieking loudly in the ivysaur's ears. The noise reverberated back and forth and seemed to surround her senses making it hard to focus.

Midori's attack connected, the grass-type colliding hard enough to roll the venonat off its feet. It kicked as it rolled along the ground, shrieking in a high-pitched voice, and the shrill noise seemed to throw Midori off her game; the ivysaur backed off a few steps, shaking her head repeatedly as the squeaking bored into her ears and her vision blurred as she opened her eyes again.
"Come on, Midori, you got this!" Vitra cheered, and the ivysaur did her best to focus on the round, furry bug again. "Tackle it again!" Then- and hopefully if Midori's attack landed- then Vitra would take over and attempt a capture. Somewhat wobbly but still trying to follow the directive given, Midori charged forward.

It retaliated the best it could but it barely tickled Midori uncomfortably, and then the pokeball hit true and sucked the purple bug inside. It wiggled a few times and then laid still, Vitra had caught her first bug in the contest, the question was if it would be the one she would keep in the end.

Success! Midori managed her attack and Vitra threw the ball at the bug type, catching it easily. "Great job!" the young girl praised her Ivysaur, who blinked back at her with a quiet grumble of affection, and she closed her eyes as she leaned into the gentle pets given, even though she was still a bit dizzy and unsteady on her feet. She didn't resist being recalled, content with the quiet security of her pokeball, and Vitra tucked both away before continuing on her way, letting Midori rest before they stumbled onto the next bug-type.

Caught by surprise at the Cutiefly's sudden appearance, Vitra stumbled back a step, flushing at the thought that she'd almost stepped on the pokemon. "I'm sorry," she apologized- it deserved that much from her- and then remembered why she was here in the first place and called Midori from her pokeball. "We challenge you to a battle. What do you say?"

"Tackle!" Vitra called out, pointing a finger at the Cutiefly; Midori hurled herself forward at the tiny bug, hardly bothered by the spores that had been showered over her. Vitra was sure it shouldn't take long to finish this battle- there was no way the Cutiefly could stand up to the Ivysaur's strength.

A pink breeze flew from it but Midori barely felt it, either the cutiefly wasn't very strong or it was due to the distance, it was barely visible at the moment since it had been thrown so far away. Midori's attack landed, sending the small bug flying; Vitra went after it, as much to make sure it didn't get away as well as to ensure it was okay. She noticed the attempt at retaliation, the cloud of powder that drifted toward the Ivysaur. She paused just a moment to check on Midori, but the grass type seemed fine, trotting along behind, and Vitra turned her attention back to the Cutiefly. She grabbed a ball when she was sure she was close enough and threw it, hoping to make another easy catch.

There was no way the cutiefly could avid the pokeball and after a few wiggles it lay still. Just at that moment the pokeball containing the venonat broke open and the purple bug raced off to disappear into the undergrowth. Well. The Cutiefly was caught as easily as Vitra had hoped, but she hadn't expected the Venonat to make its escape at the same moment. As she turned to watch the furry bug run away, she noticed the Kricketot waddle from the grass, its black beady eyes on her and Midori. Holding the pokeball with the Cutiefly in one hand, Vitra swept the other toward the new challenger. "Vine Whip, Midori! Let's get this one too!"
