The kricketot hardly budged, even during Midori's attack, and it left the Ivysaur a bit confused; she eyed the red bug-type a bit uncertainly. Vitra, though, was much more charged and she wasn't about to back down. It didn't quite occur to her that the kricketot was building up to an attack; all she saw was its inactivity and an opening to launch another attack. "Give it another Vine Whip, Midori!" she called out, and, like the true risk-taker she was, decided to chance throwing a pokeball once Midori had landed her attack.

Bide Unleashed Energy! Midori [Overgrow]: Normal ... Used Vine Whip! Threw a Sport Ball! Another set of whipping vines slapped against the stalwart cricket pokemon. It took it, the strike flashing against the stored power of bide and only adding to the retribution to come... which it immediately did. Kricketot hiccupped and began to glow. All the damage done to it transformed into usable energy twice as strong then zipped after Midori. While the ivysaur reeled from the intensive blow Vitra took advantage of the bug's focus and lobbed it with one of the provided sport balls. It barely wiggled once it locked itself, the park pokemon seeming to be a bit tired after all that. On cue, the ball that had held the recently captured Cutiefly cracked open noisily the moment kricketot's sports ball registered as a successful capture. The still slightly dazed fly wobbled higher and higher into the air for a moment before eventually zipping off to safety.

The Kricketot attacked then, a glow enveloping it that fired at Midori; the Ivysaur reeled from the blow but managed to stay on her feet and then lash out in return. On the heels of her retaliation, Vitra flung the sport ball, and it pulled the bug-type in.
And the Cutiefly that she'd caught broke free and fluttered away, looking dazed from its battle. Vitra barely had time to notice it flit away as a new pokemon appeared, the evolved form of the Kricketot she'd just caught. It pointed a bladed forearm at Vitra, who blinked, watching the new competitor for a moment.
With a shake of her head, she turned her attention to Midori and pulled a potion from her bag to administer to her pokemon. That done, she turned her attention back to the Kricketune. "Use Leech Seed, Midori!" she directed, and jabbed a finger back at the bug-type.

The seeds connected and the Kricketune swiped furiously at Midori. Vitra, in order to reduce the risk of Midori fainting, used one of the super potions she had before issuing another directive. "Vine whip!"

While Vine Whip did some damage, it wasn't as much as Vitra had hoped, and she decided to switch tactics; she had the Kricketot, she didn't need a Kricketune too. So, she instructed Midori to what she hoped would be enough to knock it out. "Vine whip again, Midori, and then use Take Down!"

Midori made quick process of the kricketune bu crashing into it head first and sent it flying into the nearest bush. It had to learn to accept the rules for the Bug Catching Contest, but for now it was of no more worry for Vitra and Midori.
Midori grew to LV 22!

It took just one solid blow to knock out the Kricketune. Vitra watched it stumble away before the giggle caught her attention. It took a moment to notice it, hanging upside down from a tree. All too eager to continue the roll she was on, Vitra pointed it out to Midori. "Give it a Vine Whip!" she instructed.

A good hit! Vitra threw her arms up with a grin. One more round should be enough, she hoped, and she gave a tiny bounce as she called out. "Leech Seed, Midori, then Vine Whip once more!" And, on the hope that it would be enough to push the Nincada close to fainting, she took one sports ball and threw it in an attempt at catching the bug-type.

Instead it jumpted forward and scratched Midori, which wasn't what she had expected and she miscalculated her aim with her vines and only hit the ground. The nincada paid her by giving her another small scratch, due to the seeding it wasn't something she felt much, if at all. (ooc: Running shoes exhausted, and that was technically a bit too much to call for in one round. Usually I'd wouldn't let you try an item on top of using the running shoes, but this time it didn't happen anyway.) Notes: Kricketot Lv 17 HP 61%; 1 ball

It took a moment for Vitra to decide her next move; in the end she made the choice not to use Midori again. Hopefully the Leech Seed would work again and drain the Nincada more; with the sports ball still in hand, Vitra threw it and hoped for the best.

The nincada grinned eagerly when it spotted the Sports Ball, and unlike most other wild pokemon it leapt straight at it and got caught almost immediately! Vitra had either impressed it or it wanted to get a trainer and leave the park, for now the reason was clouded but she would have plenty of time to learn the reason.
Midori grew to LV 24!
