ZAIDEN KABILA Aspiring Champion Bike Mode: ON | Time: Day The bright sun set high in the evening sky. Smooth, semi-transparent greyish-white clouds draped themselves lazily around the sun, obscuring it at odd angles. A soft, gentle breeze slowly shifted through the open landscape, whistling an eerie melody as it played with the long, thin leafless branches of the nearby trees. The mousy-brown haired lad’s bright brown eyes widened in anticipation, before narrowing in confusion as he wondered up to the abandoned lot with a small tea shack haphazardly stationed in the front. His footsteps faltered and the young boy stood with he left knee bent so that his foot was raised above the ground in a weird and frozen stance. The house that seemed precariously positioned a ways away from the stall, shuffled in the back, though its demeanor seemed to scream entirely of something from a horror movie. Everything inside of the teenage trainer’s body screamed to run away and hightail it to a safer location. But something deeper inside clung on like a whisper, beckoning him closer and almost guilt-riddling the young lad that he would be culpable should a hapless soul be trapped inside of the depreciative building. An older lady with long, thick grey hair popped up and greeted Zaiden with a friendly smile and a wave of her hands, giving her usual spiel about the Aromatic Wilds and the items that she had for sale. Curiously, the young lad tilted his head and studied the purple Pokeball and strange teapot. Was this…someone’s morning cup of tea in a pot? That…heals Pokemon’s heal and ailing status conditions? And did they just…paint a Pokeball? Zaiden pulled out his own Pokeballs as he tried to study the differences but was immediately shut down as the shop keep explained how his items were completely useless and seemed to allude that he may neve lose Pokemon hunting privileges with them. Something doesn’t feel right about this… The young lad thought nervously as he tried to examine the vendor’s wares more before buying a few of her items for the road. Then, the young lad would immediately turn his attention – and his previously stalled feet – towards the Aromatic Wilds. A gut wrenching feeling followed the lad and clung onto him inside the pit of his chest as he walked, a strong gut of wind slammed into him from different, interchanging directions. They held this strange scent on the air – like flowers dancing without a care around a overly warm pile of honey left dripping on the forest floor. Still, the young lad’s eyes stayed ever-vigilant and searching for the slightest signs of trouble. OOC: Should be in Sub-section I: Piquant Updraft. As Zaiden approached the Piquant Updraft, the wind whipped wildly, pulling the air in from all directions and firing it upwards, as if the wilds ahead were deflecting the world outside. Immediately, the presence of pokemon was quite obvious. Footprints going in and out of the wilds were scattered across the dirt and mud of the outdoors, and over the wind the sounds of pokemon running rampant could be heard. Tree branches shook and swayed as Zaiden passed by, loud screeches warning the boy away. One pokemon in particular seemed quite offended at Zaiden as they entered the updraft.

A large Spearow fluttered down to the ground, masterfully spinning with the wind as its talons touched the ground. From the way it maneuvered itself, and its many battle scars, it was obvious that this Spearow had been here for a while. It landed forcefully in front of a lightly worn dirt path which would allow entrance further into the Aromatic Wilds, spreading its wings aggressively and squawking loudly as if to say; “This is my territory, no outsiders allowed!” Flapping its wings as it moved forward in a show of strength, the spearow would even be so bold as to try to peck the boy if he were to remain where he was standing. This pokemon was definitely aggressive, and wasn’t going to give up their place in the Piquant Updraft if they could maintain their territory from this intruder!

ZAIDEN KABILA Aspiring Champion Bike Mode: ON | Time: Day The young lad with thick, unkempt mousy brown hair stopped in his tracks when he heard a flurry of feathers on the wind. Zaiden paused and searched the skies with his soft brown eyes, allowing a slight smile to curl on the tips of his lips. He recognized the light pink wings outstretched on the winds as the wild bird soared down in front of them. Zaiden watched as the Spearow kicked its long feet out and scraped the soft, grassy ground below him with its long, sharp talons. The short smile strengthened on the teenager’s beige face and stretched out nearly to each ear as he began to shift and search through his pocket of Pokemon. Zaiden tossed a red-and-white Pokeball out into the battlefield with the click of a button. A bright beam of light shot out from the spherical device. The beam of light began to stretch and morph into the shape of a small, rotund Pokemon with a large, sharp beak fixated in its center and long, two-clawed feet tucked carefully underneath its base. As the light slowly died down, the bright green feathers fluffed up and Ray would flap her brightly colored yellow wings with thick, black stripes and bright red markings. She tilted her beak awkwardly and began pecking underneath her wings to preen herself. “I’m not interested in your territory…” The small green bird sighed, shaking her whole body and turning her attention back to the Spearow. “But I suppose I must care. I was ‘chosen’ to fight, after all!” She huffed, flapping her wings, and prepared herself. Zaiden snapped his fingers, causing the Natu to spin herself around on her feet to stare up at the young lad. He used his hands to shape the form of a beak and began pecking at the air randomly. Natu chirruped and nodded her head, spinning back around to face off with her enemy. “Please allow us passage so that I don’t have to hurt you?” Her voice asked softly. She jumped up on her feet and flapped her wings to flutter over the ground a short distance, before landing on her clawed feet, and hopped her way over to the Spearow, preparing to peck the other bird as hard as she could. The spearow leapt back as Zaiden tossed a ball out, noticeably nervous to see that the human was a pokemon master. Its feathers fluffed up, a natural instinct to try to make itself appear bigger, and then it flapped its wings, lifting itself back up into the air as if it were about to fly away rather than fight. As the ball burst open revealing the pokemon inside, the Spearow seemed to let out a sigh of relief. “Ah, only a green pidgey.” It thought to itself. Its relief was noticeable, as if it had encountered humans before with much more terrifying pokemon before. The spearow fluttered back to the ground and preened itself confidently, fixing its ruffled feathers.

“Not interested in my territory? Hah, you haven’t tasted the sweet fruits that this tree can produce. Not to mention this beaten path. I’ve seen many a pokemon enter the wilds through here," The spearow started, "just as many chewed up and spit out too..." it muttered, with a smug voice, "and each one would bring an offering just to not be attacked from above. Those pokemon knew my name, but I suppose an outsider like you with no knowledge of the world around you wouldn’t shake in fear at my reputation. They call me the Spear of the Updraft!” The spearow said, striking a pose as the wind kicked up leaves behind the small bird. The spearow watched in amusement as Zaiden mimicked pecking at the air, his hands forming a pathetic looking beak. “Ah, perhaps your master has heard legends, I see my reputation precedes me even in the realm of the humans.”

The spearow looked at the Natu as it approached. “Uh…” The spearow paused nervously. “Are… are you coming to pay tribute?” It asked, watching as Ray closed the distance between them. The spearow held its ground, albeit clearly more nervous now. “Okay, that’s close enough!” The spearow shouted, extending its wings and leaping towards Ray in an attempt to intimidate the bird. The Natu didn’t seem to back down at all, and as the spearow aggressively flapped its wings, Ray got in quick for an aggressive peck.

The spearow was knocked back, and stared in disbelief at what just happened. Frustration bubbled up and they almost seemed embarrassed. “Why… why you…!” The spearow said. “This is my look of disappointment. I hope you feel it deeply… The Spear of the Updraft’s notorious ARROW GAZE! It will pierce your heart and make you feel the shame of betrayal! Remember this face well, and remember the error you made on this day!” The spearow squawked to Ray, cawing loudly and piercingly as it stares with the sting of a mother’s voice saying ‘I’m not mad, just disappointed.’

ZAIDEN KABILA Aspiring Champion Bike Mode: ON | Time: Day The small green bird’s eyes widened as she listened to the Spearow in disbelief. First, it started by insulting her and calling her a green Pidgey? The small Natu tried to bend her head to get a better look at herself, though she only spotted her bright red, two-toed feet with their sharp talons and her multicolored wings as she flexed and fanned them at her sides. Was that why her previous owner traded her away? Was that the reason why Zaiden would eventually trade her away? Was she nothing more than a carbon-copy of a Pidgey, dressed up and decorated with strange colors and markings to try and make herself look bigger and better than that? Ray shook herself and puffed up her feathers. She flapped her wings at her sides as she tried to make herself look larger and more impressive than she already was. She hopped across the ground, using her tiny wings which were not strong enough to actually let her fly in the air, and climbed up onto a boulder that was just barely taller than she was. Ray kicked and scratched at the boulder as she managed to get just her bright yellow beak over the top of it and used her wings to pin herself against it until she managed to scrabble her way up onto the top with her clawed feet. “I’m a…” The words stuck to the back of her throat. She wanted to argue with this ‘Spear of the Valley’ or whatever it called itself. She wanted to correct it as loudly and proudly as she could. But he had no sweltering heat of pride built up inside of her chest. “a Natu.” The words came out, simply and dumbly as possible as she leaped off of the boulder. Ray’s beak would glow a bright, almost whitish color as she struck out after the Natu and tried to peck the other Pokemon as hard as she could against its scalp, kicking out with her feet and fanning her short wings at her sides. This was war only because her trainer pitted her against this large and impressive beast of a bird. She didn’t really have any other option. If she failed Zaiden now, wouldn’t he just toss her to the side and forget about her as well? She couldn’t let her new trainer down, not as long as he still hadn’t gotten rid of her. It’ll happen one day… Ray thought to herself with a silent cry. Just hopefully, not today. OOC: Ray uses Peck. Words: 425| Speech. The Spear of the Updraft glared at the Natu as they regained their posture. Sure, letting your opponent get the better of you once was one thing, The Spear had been challenged before, and had been pecked before. This was one of the first times it had truly decided to face a human trainer in battle before. The Spear listened patiently as the Natu struggled with its words, its eyes laser focused on the Natu. As Ray finally got its words out, the spearow stared in disbelief as it attempted to keep a straight face.

“A natu?” The spearow considered, trying to keep itself from laughing. “I wonder if that explains why your beak is as soft as a berry-” The spearow started, its eyes closing as it began chuckling to itself. Ray’s beak glowed at that moment as it leapt down from the rock they scrambled up, and as the spearow burst out in a riotous and explosive laugh, it was struck upon the head by Ray’s powerful attack on their head. The Spear attempted for a second to hold its head up high, pressing its head into the attack. The beak pressed harshly into the spearow’s head, and it glared up at the strike, attempting to hold their ground as a show of strength.

The strike was in an instant, but the struggle seemed to last an eternity to The Spear. “I can’t show any weakness...” They thought to themselves. “Not like when I was a child…”

A baby spearow flutters in a field, playing happily with another spearow. “Brother!” A young Spear of the Updraft calls out as it dances happily around in the meadow, leaping after their sibling. “Catch me, catch me, catch me if you caaaaa-aan~!” Their brother calls out melodically, dashing into the underbrush in the nearby forest. The spear focuses its energy into its beak, and dashes forward, it’s pointy beak flashing brightly as it uses its pokemon abilities to catch up, propelling itself by the sheer power of its beak. “Hehe,” Their brother calls back, flapping their wings strongly and dashing to the side. The Spear launches past their brother, flying forward nearly out of control. “You’ll have to do better than that to hit me!” The brother calls out, watching as the Spear flies past them, straight into a sleeping figure.

The Spear watches in fear as the figure straightens out, two fearsome bright pink sickles revealing themselves, the bright coloration causing the small Spearow’s brain to shout the message “WARNING, DO NOT TOUCH!”, instincts firing on all cylinders to flee. The Spear leaps back, nervously and quietly into a berry bush, but their brother is unaware of the danger. Laughing, their brother leaps forward towards where The Spear had landed. “Brother, brother, catch me if you-” The brother sings, laughing as it leaps over a bush towards where The Spear landed. In an instant, and with a flash of pink, the laughter ceases.

“A troublesome spearow…” The humongous mantis said, glowering. “Can’t believe someone would dare attack me… and while I’m sleeping no less. An attempt on my life by that blasted Fearow perhaps?” The Spear freezes in place. It had leapt back, but was now stuck in a bush. It dared not move in fear of causing a twig to shake. The Lurantis stood tall, stretching its wings out. “Attacked me… and it was so weak too? Is that really the best assassin that the old fool has anymore? Maybe it's time someone put that old codger out of its misery.” The lurantis said, poking the unconscious spearow with one of its scythes. “Well… This assassin is no one’s problem anymore. Maybe I'll bring this one to that 'Iron Fanged' Mightyena... I bet that could win me favor with the Boss. I bet with some convincing we could even get rid of the Spear of the Wilds for good, even if this was some kind of mistake... That little birdy even drew blood!” The lurantis schemed, looking down at the spot where the Spear had pecked it, pressing its own scythe deeper into the wound to exaggerate the strike.

The branch that The Spear was clinging to quietly snapped, causing the spearow to fall through the bush to the ground. The small spearow watched as the entire bush above them was decimated in an instant. The Lurantis’ body loomed over the young Spear of the Updraft. “Hey!” It shouted. The Spear opened its beak, but no sounds were produced. “Hey, did you know that little spearow?” The Lurantis asked, seemingly genuinely curious. “I… Uh… I…” The Spearow stuttered, choking on its own words. The Lurantis sighed. “Look, I can’t believe I have to do this every year with every new generation of Spearow. Don’t touch me. Don’t touch the Fomantis…” It glared at the small spearow who was thoroughly out of its depths.

“Well?” Lurantis said, glaring. “Nothing? That’s all you have to say?” It paused, waiting for a response. The Lurantis rolled its eyes. “You know what. Don’t touch the berries either. Don’t even touch the wilds. If I see another one of your kind in here, I’m going to wipe it out. Yes, it's your fault for not answering me when I speak to you. Tell your friends they're not welcome anymore. That's if you can even speak...” It said, pressing one of its impressive scythes down on the chest of The Spear. "The Spear of the Wilds is as good as dead by tonight thanks to your kinds own stupidity. Guess what they say is true about bird brains." The point dug into the small spearow’s chest. It waited a second for a response, as the tip of the scythe dug deeper into the spearows chest, then sighed. “I’d kill you, but then it would take forever just to kill the rest of your dumb brood... Deliver the message to your kin and make yourself scarce.” They added, lifting their scythe up. “Your kind really pisses me off.”

The Spear of the Updraft’s knees buckled for just a second, but it found its footing again before the blow knocked them down, then they pressed up against the beak, flapping their wings and pushing up into the air, rather than succumbing to the powerful blow and being smashed to the ground. The Spear took flight, flapping its wings vigorously to begin lifting itself into the air. “Natu, I can tell you had lost your words for a second.” It said from above. “Listen to me with great care.” The Spear of the Updraft said, Leering down at the Natu from the air. “You’re not going to make it far into the wilds if you can’t even speak confidently. I can forgive your lack of tribute seeing as you’re not from around here, but this is your last warning. This is my territory, and not only do I not think you can maintain this territory like me, but there’s no way you would make it in there. There is no shame in admitting you cannot win, but tell your pet human that there is nothing in the Wilds for them. This is a land where Pokemon rule. This is a land where outsiders are not welcomed.”

The Spear of the Updraft deftly navigated through the winds, fluttering to and fro. It was no longer interested in battling on the ground, especially against a pokemon with wings. “If you wish to battle me, fly to me, but know this, it will be your last mistake.” The Spear shouted, seemingly as vital as it was when the battle started. To the inexperienced battler, it might have even seemed as though the Spearow wasn’t injured at all.

ZAIDEN KABILA Aspiring Champion Bike Mode: ON | Time: Day The small green bird tilted its head, though the weight of such a maneuver would inevitably mean that Ray had tilted her entire body to the side. She might have looked really funny to some, as her body tilted sideways and was precariously juggled on top of just one of her clawed feet that gripped strongly into the ground, and she tried to understand this bird’s strange insults. “I know, I’m not the best bird…” She hummed lonely and stretched out her tiny wings, which she flapped at her sides with all of her might. Ray would then start hopping from one foot to the other as she flapped her wings. Though she would manage to lift herself a few feet off the ground, the small Natu would inevitably come crashing back down each and every time. “I’ve wings. Why?” She asked to no one at all. She seemed to be muttering loudly enough to carry the conversation with this Spear of the Updraft, but low enough that it was obvious that she was only talking to herself now. “I cannot fly. I’m half a bird, I suppose.” She huffed and turned away from the Spearow as she gazed up at the bright blue skies above. Small, puffy white clouds dotted the bright blue sea of the upper world above her and drifted lazily across the skyline. She stretched her wings out anxiously towards that unknown world above her and hopped on her feet in vain, before finally giving up and settling back on her feet. “No Natu flies. That’s fine, I suppose…” She huffed and shook her head as she tried to accept this truth. “But what bird doesn’t fly?” Natu hopped after the brown feathered avian with its bright pink wings, chasing from below as the Spearow soared above. How? How could she honor this Pokemon’s request to carry their battle to the skies above? Natu’s clawed feet kicked up dirt and debris as they tore across the ground. She hopped over small branches and crunched tiny twigs underneath her weight as she tried to chase after the other Pokemon valiantly, with no clear sight of how she would catch the flying avian from the ground’s side. It would manage to glide up high in a tree after hopping up in a tree, and would try to leap at the Spearow to stab her beak at the other Pokemon. Ray managed to climb up into the tree through various attempts at becoming airborne. She first hopped up onto a large boulder, kicking and struggling her way up to the top of the outcropped rock by jumping up on the small rocks that surrounded it. Then, Ray used her wings to glide over to a low hanging branch, where she hopped up onto the tree. From there, the small green bird would jump about, trying to fly up to the larger branches, though she mostly fell back down – and even once fell out of the tree, causing her to stand back up and struggle once more, hopping back onto the large boulder to glide back over to the low hanging branch. Though, after several attempts and scraping her talons against the bark of the tree while stabbing her ‘soft beak’ into the base of the tree to awkwardly climb it, Ray would eventually manage to scale the beast nearly climbing up to the top of its branches, before leaping out to attack her opponent. “I’ll do my best to keep up, Spear!” She called out to her opponent. Noting that I will be foregoing any EXP from this fight as I had switched around my team and effectively canceled this fight out. Goni I would like to keep it on pause until we're both ready to pick up with the same team I have right now (if that's alright with you) or I can close it and start a new thread if you're ever up to it again. It was really fun and I love the lore-building you're putting into it. <3
