Venom and his party were not the only ones settling down for a moment of relaxation and dinner. There were plenty of Pokemon here, especially of the nocturnal sort, that waited for the humans to go to bed before going out in search of their own enjoyment. In this case, lurking near the periphery of Goldenrod City was a rather well-fed Drowzee. Drowzee and its own kind flocked to places such as Goldenrod, in search of dreams to devour and minds to snack upon. A bustling metropolis of hundreds of minds, each with their own dreams and nightmares and desires; it was like a buffet to Psychic types. This Drowzee, plump on the dreams of Trainers aspiring to continue their Gym Challenge and the nightmares of youths traumatized by a loss against Whitney and her Miltank, was toddling through the paths of Goldenrod City and its greater area. It had gorged itself on enough dreams for the night, and now it just needed a place to sit back and rest on its laurels. Maybe tomorrow it would try to go to that weird little Daycare down the street, see what kind of dreams it could snatch up from that nice old couple or the Pokemon they babysat? But as the Drowzee pondered its next meal, its round belly and stubby legs toddled directly into the path of Team Toxic. Even with the streetlights illuminating the paths of Goldenrod, it would be hard to make out the two-toned body of the tapir in the night sky. Similarly, Drowzee had been unable to properly see any of Team Toxic wandering through the streets. If they didn't make themselves known, then the tapir was bound to just walk straight into Venom in a head-on collision. A wild Drowzee (Level 20) is blocking Venom's path! What will Venom do? After roughly twenty minutes or so, all the cleanup from their meal was complete, and all the bowls, utensils, and leftover food was properly packed up back into Venom's bag. The purple-haired trainer thanked his Pokemon one more time, then called all of them back to their respective Pokeballs for some rest. However, even though most of Goldenrod City was now visiting Dreamland, Venom still had a few more hours left in him. And although he didn't particularly enjoy the thought of rousing his Pokemon companions from their slumber, he decided to continue training for a while longer. Fortunately, now that he was on his own again, it would be easy for him to make full use of his ninja skills yet again. With that, Venom doze into the tall grass so that no people or Pokemon would be able to see him coming, and silently slithered through said grass like the serpentine trainer he was.
With his snake eyes open wide, the Poison type trainer could see through the darkness almost perfectly, doing everything he could to spot his next opponent before they spotted him. Unfortunately, even just outside the big city, the streetlights were making it difficult for even Venom's highly trained eyes to focus on any images that were more than a few feet in front of him. "Rgh. Damn it. Light or dark. Daytime or nighttime. Why can't humans just make up their minds? Is anyone else even out here at this hour besides the wild nocturnal Pokemon and myself?" Venom thought to himself in a mentally frustrated tone, but still did his best to ignore the lights and continue on his search through the greenery. And once again, the ninja was reminded of the fact that he really needed to learn to stop talking to himself.
Thankfully, even though Venom's eyes were failing him at this moment, he still had his other senses. Like hearing, for example. After such a big meal, the wild Drowzee's footsteps were rather audible. Venom may not have been able to see the Hypnosis Pokemon, but he could hear it loud and clear. Of course, he still had no way of knowing what it was that he was hearing without getting closer and getting a look at it. So, while continuing to stay low, and as quiet as possible, the snake-like trainer made his way towards the footsteps he was hearing, mentally preparing himself for battle at the same time. Then, when they were barely two feet around, the Poison type trainer and the Psychic type Pokemon eyed each other.
For the first few seconds, Venom was caught off guard, quickly jumping to his feet and getting some distance between himself and the wild Drowzee. Fortunately for him, the Drowzee seemed to be just as surprised as he was. Not to mention it was so full from its meal that Venom had all the time he needed to get ready for another bout. "So, now it's a Drowzee. Shoot. That was careless of me. Not exactly the color scheme one would expect from a nocturnal Pokemon. Regardless, I've got the perfect Pokemon to deal with you." It was kind of ironic, but the streetlights blended almost perfectly with Drowzee's yellow coloration, giving the Psychic type tapir near-perfect camouflage when night fell over Goldenrod City. Perhaps that was another reason why they lived here.
Either way, Team Toxic was at a disadvantage against a Psychic type Pokemon. Or rather, that would be the case, if not for the presence of a certain Sludge Pokemon from the great region of Alola. "I never thought I'd say this, but I was actually hoping I'd run into a Psychic type out here. Now's your time to shine, Grimer! I choose you!" After withdrawing a Great Ball from his bag, the ninja tossed it right into the tall grass in front of him. A brilliant flash of light followed, bringing light to the entire area for a brief moment. And when that light faded away, an Alolan Grimar took its place, looking Drowzee right in the eye. "Hi there. Nice to meet you."
Having just met a new face, Grimer smiled and offered a friendly greeting to the wild Pokemon, not at all concerned about the battle that was about to unfold. And with good reason. As a Poison/Dark type, Grimer was immune to Psychic type moves, as well as Drowzee's Poison Gas attack. Of course, Drowzee itself may not have been aware of those things, but it was about to learn the hard way. "I'm all for making some new Pokemon friends, Grimer, but it's time for your first battle as part of Team Toxic. So, let's start off strong. This Drowzee still looks hungry, so give it a taste of your Poison Fang! Then right into Bite!" Still well aware of Drowzee's Disable, Venom called for two different moves, and waited to see if either of them would trigger Grimer's Poison Touch ability. "I'm on it, master! Sorry about this, Drowzee! I'll try to make this as painless as possible!" With her mouth open wide and her sharp teeth bared, Grimer lunged her gelatinous body towards the yellow tapir.

Drowzee had been having such a nice night, too, and then it had to go and bump into this strange looking human. Then again, the weird ones did always have the best tasting dreams. Maybe it could convince this guy and the group of minds it could hear from the balls on his waist to let it get a little snack in before it had to go to sleep. But it was also still lagging behind a little, its movement slowed down by the contents of its full stomach and by the surprise at Venom's sudden speed in putting some distance between himself and the tapir. "Hey there, slimy buddy. You look pretty different from the ones I saw in the underground that one time," the Drowzee said lazily, waving one of his big hands at the slime pile. The Drowzee had to admit that it liked the brighter colors on this one a bit more. This Grimer seemed like she'd be a pretty fun girl to hang out with. Suddenly, the human began barking out orders to the sludge pile, and the bright colored creature slithered toward the Drowzee, fangs glowing purple. Out of reflex, the tapir reared its head back and slammed it into the body of the slimy Pokemon. However, as it did so the Grimer sank its fangs into the Drowzee's body, injecting it with a powerful poison. Drowzee flinched, a purple blush taking over its face as the poison sank in. Its eyes glowed blue as the blue glow likewise appeared around Grimer. Its poisonous teeth would be unable to inject poison for now, though much of the damage was already done. The Grimer slithered forward, performing another bite. Without the poison, the bite from the teeth sank into Drowzee's shoulder. The Drowzee struggled for a second before allowing the darkness to take him, collapsing. With the way the rotund tapir fell, it now looked more like the Psychic-type was sitting and slouching rather than fainted. SP28 Drowzee used Headbutt! SP20 Grimer used Poison Fang!
SP28 Drowzee used Disable! SP20 Grimer used Bite! Drowzee fainted!Drowzee beat up a tapir and gained +3 levels! Grimer is now Level 22! Grimer is trying to learn Minimize! Delete a move to make room for Minimize? Grimer also gained 1 Happiness! (1/15)

This bout had gone just as Venom predicted it would. With Drowzee making use of the only two moves that it could, and Grimer winning said bout after only two attacks. Poison Fang already had a 50% chance of poisoning anyone struck by it, and when combined with Grimer's Poison Touch ability, the likelihood of any of her opponents becoming poisoned was raised by another 30% for a grand total of 80%. Basically, any hope the Sludge Pokemon's foes had of avoiding poisoning was extremely slim, which was all part of Venom's master plan for overcoming Whitney's Miltank. And as luck would have it, the next step in the ninja's master plan came into play right then and there.
While still processing how quickly she had won her first battle as part of Team Toxic, Grimer suddenly began to shrink, looking all around herself with confusion, as the world around her appeared to grow larger in size. "Woah! What's happening?! I feel stronger, but why am I shrinking?! What's going on, master?!" Grimer looked to her trainer for help, as her confusion continued to grow the more she shrank. Having seen this phenomenon many times before, Venom knew exactly what this was, walking over to Grimer and looking down at her with a smile on his face as he put her mind at ease. "Don't worry, Grimer. There's nothing wrong with you at all. In fact, this is great news! You've learned how to use Minimize!"
Just as the purple-haired trainer finished speaking with some very obvious enthusiasm in his voice, Grimer stopped shrinking, then slowly returned to her normal size. After taking another minute to collect herself, the Poison/Dark type smiled too, feeling a mixture of relief and confidence. "For real? I learned a new move? Awesome! It's been a long time since that's happened!" As the Sludge Pokemon celebrated this added bonus to her victory, she was suddenly reminded of something Venom said to her when they first met, losing her smile and gaining a facial expression of curiosity as she spoke to him again. "By the way, master, you never did tell me about this plan of yours. You said that I'd be the one to defeat Whitney's Miltank, but...I just don't see how that's possible. Of course, I trust your judgement, but I'd feel a lot better if you could please explain your plan to me."
As hard as Grimer tried to not lose hope, she had heard tons of comments and stories during her time in the Underground Tunnel of trainers being bested left and right by the gym leader Whitney and her pretty much unstoppable Miltank. Be that as it may, when Venom told her that she'd be the one to overcome the Milk Cow Pokemon, he seemed so sure that she could do it. She just didn't understand how. "Oh, right. Sorry, Grimer. I've had a lot on my mind lately. But I guess now is as good a time as any. You see, you possess a very unique set of skills and attributes that are just what Team Toxic needs to best Whitney's Miltank in battle. And our strategy for doing so is like this." With his smile still present, and his voice filled with confidence, Venom explained his master plan to Grimer in great detail from start to finish.
Naturally, Grimer was more than a little skeptical at first, but with every word that her trainer spoke to her, the more she started to see what he already saw in her. The ninja's plan may not have been 100% perfect, but it was pretty damn close. At least Grimer thought so, letting out a gasp and looking at Venom with a new light of hope in her eyes, as he finished up his explanation. "...I...I never would've thought of using my powers like that before...Master, you're a genius." Grimer's complement caused a small blush to appear on Venom's face, as he scratched the back of his head and grabbed Grimer's Great Ball from his bag once more.
"I don't know if I'd go that far, but thanks, Grimer. Don't sell yourself short though. This plan would never have even been possible without you. Sure, it's not quite ready yet, but every victory brings us closer to our fated battle with Whitney. So, ready to do some more battling and get even closer?" Not even needing to think about it, Grimer nodded at Venom, put her game face on, and spoke with more confidence and determination than she ever had in her entire life. "I'm ready for more, master! Let's do it! Together we can beat Whitney and Miltank!" Venom immediately returned her nod, feeling his own confidence and determination levels rise as well. "That's the spirit! I know this plan will work! Now, let's find us some more opponents!" After calling Grimer back to her Great Ball, Venom headed for the trees and jumped up into them, searching for the next trainer or wild Pokemon that would provide Team Toxic with their next batch of experience points.
OOC: I will have Grimer learn Minimize, and I'll have her forget Acid Spray in its place. Thanks.

Route 34 was a known tourist spot where trainers of all shapes and sizes would wander up its winding pathways towards Goldenrod City. Each and every single one of them held the same aspiring goals and dreams of defeating Whitney, with the hope that they would be able to prove themselves as true blue future champions in the Johto Region. Some gathered near a bench and chatted about their future plans, with one pointing towards a powerful Hitmonlee who punched his mighty fists in the air as demonstration of their plans. Though a few asked what their plans were for Whitney’s Fairy-based partner, Clefairy, they just laughed and called out a strange looking blue frog who puffed up his cheeks excitedly. One of the trainers pulled away from the group with his hands shoved deep into the pockets of his denim jeans. A sad looking reptile walked alongside him with a thoughtful expression covering its face. Though they weren’t planning on brute-forcing their way through on weaknesses alone, the cyclist knew that they would be plenty ready for Whitney and whatever she could dish out at them. “Cubone bone bone!” The restless reptile spoke up, puffing out its chest out as it spoke up to its trainer about its wishes to find another opponent to face and prove itself. “You sure?...Well, let’s see if we can find anyone to battle us, ok?” Cyclist Hunter stated with a soft smile. He walked directly underneath the tree that Venominon was in, though the Cyclist wouldn’t even notice the ninja carefully concealed within its canopy. Instead, Hunter searched through the crowds that walked up and down the winding pathways trying to determine who would be best to challenge. “What do you think, Marrow? They all look…weak…wouldn’t you say?” The reptile stared out at the wandering travelers, then turned to its trainer and nodded firmly. Whether it was from Venom moving that would cause Hunter to glance up into the tree, or whether Venom chose to jump down and face Hunter directly on, the Cyclist would challenge the Poison-type trainer as soon as their eyes met. “Say, you look like you won’t disappoint! Care for a battle?” He asked hopefully. Cyclist Hunter challenges you to a battle! He's sending out his Level 21 Exeggutor! Who will Venom choose? Mod Notes: Cyclist Hunter's Pokemon: Exeggutor lv 21 Chlorophyll [Moves: Leech Seed, Mega Drain, Confusion, Stomp] & Cubone lv 24 Rock Head [Moves: Headbutt, Retaliate, Curse EM, Stomping Tantrum]

From his place in the treetops, Venom could see practically everything around him, once again making use of his snake eyes to see through the darkness of the night. The ninja also made sure to keep to the shadows the whole time, refusing to allow himself to be discovered by just anyone who passed by. As eager as Venom was to battle Whitney and try for his third badge, he wasn't interested in training his Pokemon against any other trainers who looked as though they lacked potential. The kind of potential that came in the form of something like sensing the presence of a ninja hiding close by for example. And that's exactly what Venom was waiting for. He wanted to see if any of these other trainers, or their Pokemon, would be able to pick up on his presence and challenge him to a battle themselves. Given his level of ninja training, the Poison type trainer expected to be kept waiting for at least an hour or two, as he watched several trainers come, go, and train their own Pokemon. However, it only ended up taking about twenty minutes for one trainer to catch Venom's eye. From the branch he knelt upon, Venom watched as a cyclist and his Lonely Pokemon wandered ever so close to the tree Venom had chosen to observe from. Once they were close enough, the snake-eyed trainer was able to make out what they were saying, and their words did well to raise his intrigue even higher. Realizing that they too were looking for a decent challenge, Venom raised one eyebrow as he continued to stare down at them, waiting to see if either of them would notice him. Even if only for a brief moment. As the saying goes, good things come to those who wait. It may have only been for a split second, and Hunter may not have even realized Venom was there, but he did stop, look up in Venom's direction, and their eyes did meet. That brief moment alone was good enough for Venom, as he stood up, and jumped down from the tree, landing directly in front of Hunter and his Cubone, just a few yards away. "Impressive. Not just anyone would've been able to pick out a ninja hiding in a tree under cover of night. Even if it was only purely by chance. Either way, you pass. And as such, Team Toxic will accept your challenge. My name is Venominon, but just Venom will do." Venom's tone contained a certain degree of respect, but he still kept his snake eyes narrowed on the other trainer, still not the biggest fan of humans in general. From there, the purple-haired young man observed his opponent's first Pokemon choice, a bit surprised to see that he possessed an Exeggutor of all Pokemon. Although it was a Grass type, and therefore weak against Poison type moves, it was also a Psychic type, and that was bad for Team Toxic. Or at least most of them. And based on everything he knew about the Coconut Pokemon, Venom figured that it would make the perfect practice opponent in preparation for their upcoming bout with Whitney's Miltank. "With an opponent so similar to Whitney's Miltank, we'd be fools to pass this up, Grimer! Let's see how we stack up against this one!" From his bag, Venom withdrew the Great Ball containing his Alolan Sludge Pokemon, then tossed it right in between himself and Hunter's Exeggutor. "What's this? Another battle? So soon?" As soon as Grimer appeared, she once again eyed her new surroundings, her gaze almost instantly drawn towards the three new faces that stood before her. "Hello there. Wow. You're really tall. I guess you and I have to battle now. I hope I'll be able to make my master proud again." Grimer smiled up at Exeggutor as she spoke, doing so in a friendly tone of voice, but was still eagerly awaiting Venom's first order of this new battle. With his battle plan to deal with Whitney's Miltank still fresh in both their minds, it was time to put that plan to a little test and see how the poisonous pair faired. "Okay, Grimer, just like we discussed! Start off with Minimize, then follow it up with Poison Fang!" Although this wasn't the exact battle strategy he had come up with, Grimer still had yet to learn the move Knock Off, but that shouldn't have made much of a difference here. "I'm on it, master! Just try and hit me, big guy!" Still bursting with confidence, Grimer shrunk in size right there in front of her opponent, then got ready to slither right up to its giant legs and sink her teeth into one of them. OOC: Running Shoes used. By the way, Caramell 🍬, I don't know if this was a typo or not, but you mentioned Hitmonlee and punching in the first paragraph, and Hitmonlee is the Kicking Pokemon. Did you perhaps mean to say Hitmonchan? It's no big deal. I was just curious. Response: Venominon haha, I was just in the moment and writing when I wrote that part, not really looking either up. I probably was picturing Hitmonchan in my head and mentioned Hitmonlee instead, but who knows now.

Unaware his opponent was an actual ninja, Hunter laughed when Venom landed right beside them. "This was totally luck. I didn't know we got some callisthenic tree climbers around here." He thought Venom was just one of those bros that enjoyed the great outdoor and being in nature, like climbing a tree. The Cubone tugged at the human, disagreeing, as it was a lonely Pokemon and was more sensitive to the environment around it. "Well, my name's Hunter. It's good to see someone train themselves as much as they train their own Pokemon," He grinned. "There's a special bond between humans and Pokemon when they train together." While there are other ways to improve bonds between human and Pokemon, Hunter was currently convinced this was the only way. After hearing Venom's further comment, his excitement grew even more as his pupil dilated. "You are training for Whitney too? Well, good luck to you then. I hope we can learn from each other." As if this wasn't enough, his opponent sent out an Alolan Grimer. "Nice! I've seen those Pokemon before when I was in Alolan for a charity Cycling Competition. I didn't get to battle one though. I did battled some other Pokemon I've never seen before, so that was cool.""Well, we're not going to pass up this unique opportunity either. Sunday, start off with a Leech Seed!" He ordered his sunshine Pokemon, after he heard the purple haired dude called out his attack. The Exeggutor's multiple faces all barked synchronously, and then spit out a brown seed that exploded on contact and sprouted quickly at the Grimer. The poison type was wrapped with vines constricting her body, that even when she shrunk herself by concentrating her slimes, the vines stuck around. The Grimer cried in pain from being sapped. "Nice! Too bad, I can't use this on her Clefairy," He congratulated his Pokemon for landed the seed attack, but also knew this strategy wouldn't work on the clever Clefairy. "Now go for a Stomp!"The walking nuts ran toward the shrunken Grimer at once. The poison type slithered quickly on the ground to avoid being trampled, trying to seize her advantage of being smaller. However, the Coconut Pokemon was just running around trying to stomp the poor Grimer. Any onlookers would thought the Coconut Pokemon was going nuts befittingly, but that would be just how it stomps. However, when the walking plant stopped to breathe, the Grimer leaped and bit on the Exeggutor's leg, causing all the head to cry in pain as the poison seeped into the tree's system. The plant now looked very sick and would require intervention. With both Pokemon with tricks up their sleeve, the next turn or two would be very decisive on who won. "Hmm, a very nice trick. I guess you plan to go for the offense at the Clefairy?" He asked curiously, as he hadn't thought to ask about the Miltank yet. Even though Venom took some offense to the cyclist's first comment, he maintained his composure, and instead chose to address his Cubone instead, turning to face the Ground type Pokemon. "I take it this is your master's first time meeting a real ninja, correct? And yes, I can understand everything you're saying perfectly, Cubone." While awaiting a response from the Lonely Pokemon, the ninja heard Hunter's introduction loud and clear, then decided to show off for him a little. After taking one long deep breath, Venom jumped high into the air in the blink of an eye, did three midair backflips, then landed back on the ground upside down, perfectly balanced on the pointer and index fingers of his right hand. "It's not every day that I meet someone who possesses values that are so similar to my own."
"Not many trainers are willing to put in such a level of effort. For that, you have my respect, Hunter. However, if you believe that we're equals, then I must advise you to think again." The whole time Venom spoke, he was looking at Hunter upside down, continuing to balance on two fingers without even a single bead of sweat present on his face. The Poison type trainer then noticed the other trainer's level of enthusiasm rise when he mentioned Whitney, and patiently waited for him to stop shouting before saying or doing anything else. All the while, Hunter's loud voice echoed out in all directions, and seemed to rouse many of the wild Pokemon in the area from their slumber, causing Venom to let out a small sigh of exasperation. "Your enthusiasm is admirable, but would you mind toning it down a bit? We're not the only ones out here, ya know."
After that, Venom curled up the two fingers he was balancing on, then quickly straightened them again, causing him to jump into the air once again, though not as high as before. Still, it was just high enough for Venom to do a single backflip, then land perfectly on his feet, facing Hunter once more. "Still, I can understand your excitement. Believe it or not, I found this Grimer right here in Goldenrod City. According to her, she was brought here to deal with all the trash in the Underground Tunnel. It seems the wild Trubbish that were brought here before the Alolan Grimers weren't enough to clean up the vast and seemingly unending filth of this city. But I digress." The ninja refocused himself on the battle at hand, narrowing his eyes and making sure to take as many mental notes as possible, searching for any and all holes that appeared in his and Grimer's strategy.
Unfortunately for the poisonous pair, a rather massive hole appeared in their plan in the second round of said battle, as Exeggutor's massive foot came down hard on the Sludge Pokemon. Straight away, Venom's eyes went from narrowed to widened, not entirely sure what just happened at first. "Ugh...Master...I don't feel so good...What's going on?..." Grimer managed to ask, reeling after the Coconut Pokemon's powerful attack, and the Leech Seed draining away her HP even further really wasn't helping. Then, as he tried to answer her, Venom realized something that shocked even him. He wasn't sure. Despite his vast knowledge of Pokemon, he had finally come across a phenomenon that he hadn't ever seen or heard about before.
Unable to come up with an answer, Venom quickly grabbed his Pokedex from his bag and was forced to look it up, doing a quick search on Exeggutor, Minimize, and Stomp attack. The purple-haired trainer's eyes widened even more at what he found, reading it all the way through in just under ten seconds. Apparently, when a Pokemon uses Minimize, Stomp attack still never misses, and even inflicts double the damage. "Rgh...I'm sorry, Grimer! It seems I've made a mistake! Our strategy is no good here! Come back for now!" Seeing that the odds were clearly against them now, Venom called Grimer back to her Great Ball, frustrated with himself for not knowing about this before tonight. Thankfully, Venom didn't remain in that state for long, regaining his composure about a minute later, as he exchanged Grimer's Great Ball with a different Pokeball from his bag.
"I must admit, you've surprised me, Hunter. It's not every day when someone shows me something about the world of Pokemon that I didn't know already. You have my thanks. This will be excellent battle data for later. However, that wasn't our strategy to deal with Whitney's Clefairy. No. That was our strategy for dealing with Whitney's Miltank, but I see no reason to explain further. Rather, I believe a changeup is in order. Skorupi, take over!" With their first strategy failed, Venom quickly came up with a new one, tossing Skorupi's Pokeball onto the battlefield. The Scorpion Pokemon appeared, looked over at Hunter and his two Pokemon, then glanced at Venom with a puzzled expression on her face. "Master, I'm confused. I thought you were training the new recruits tonight. So, why did you call on me?"
Venom didn't enjoy having to call upon one of his stronger Pokemon to clean up the mess he had made, but in all fairness, even Skorupi, Salandit, and Croagunk needed some more training themselves before Team Toxic could face Whitney in battle. "It's kind of a long story, Skorupi, but the short version is that I failed Grimer and I need your help to make it right. So, please. Lend me your power, my friend! Use Bug Bite on Sunday the Exeggutor!" At first, Skorupi was shocked to hear that her beloved master could've made such a mistake, but she also knew that he'd never lie to her about something like this. Additionally, she could also see his remorse in his eyes and hear it in his voice too.
So, as all of this sunk in, the Poison/Bug type faced her opponent, poised herself and her claws and tail, and waited for the perfect opportunity to strike. "You know we'll always be there for you, master! Just as you're always there for us! The odds have always been against us on our journey to take Poison types to the top! So, it'll take a lot more than a stumble or two to keep Team Toxic down!" Venom couldn't have said it better himself, smiling as he watched the third round of battle unfold, and having faith that Skorupi would finish off Sunday with one more super effective attack. If anyone on Team Toxic could pull it off, she could.

"Ninja?" The Cubone spoke, not sure what is a Ninja either. In a way, this answer meant that it hadn't seen a ninja before. Hunter watched as the ninja performed some backflips and two-fingers-handstand, and clapped quickly for a few seconds to applaud the outstanding show and human capability. He stopped soon though, to avoid gathering attention. Hunter grinned when the ninja complimented him. "Thanks. It's always great to be learning more about Pokemon." When the opponent had switched Pokemon to another poison type, he smiled quietly, as the opponent really liked poison types. "A Skorupi! Great choice! Sunday, use Confusion!"The eyes on the Exeggutor all synchronously glowed as the Skorupi was levitated a little bit up in the air. The psychic type began mind attack by trying to squish the little bug's brain. The psychic type telepathically told the poison type. "It's just a normal battle, chill."The part poison type took a huge hit from the attack, but then came crawling forward to give the opponent a Bug Bite. The walking plant groaned in pain, and collapsed on the floor unconscious. "You did great, Sunday! Return!" He looked down at the Cubone next to him, and spoke to the lonely Pokemon. "You're up next!" The Cubone grabbed its bone and waddled toward the battlefield, to face whoever's next. Venom simply shrugged his shoulders when even the Lonely Pokemon didn't understand what he was, not holding it against either the Pokemon or the trainer. In the end, ninjas lived lives of secrecy, and only those in the know actually knew of their existence at all. Besides, it made no difference to the Poison type trainer and his mission anyway. His goal was to increase the overall view of Poison type Pokemon. Not ninjas. Still, to that end, this battle would be another big help with that, as Hunter's two Pokemon happened to be a Psychic type and a Ground type. Two of the Poison type's biggest weaknesses. If Team Toxic won this battle, then maybe Hunter would spread the word that he and his Pokemon were defeated by a team of Poison type Pokemon, despite having the clear advantage when it came to type.
And unlike his last plan, this new plan seemed to be working, as Skorupi hung in there and bested the Coconut Pokemon in battle, finishing what Grimer started. "It may be just a normal battle to you, but to us, it means more than you can possibly imagine. I know you probably can't hear me right now, but I thank you for this opportunity and hope that you can gain something from this defeat as well." Skorupi stood tall on her little legs as she addressed her opponent in a tone filled with pride and gratitude but had to admit that she was still reeling after taking Sunday's Confusion attack head on. And if it weren't for the pain she was feeling, she would've been more than happy to continue battling. Unfortunately, the Scorpion Pokemon was far too tuckered to unmask the Cubone that now stood before her.
Noticing this right away, Venom took a quick moment to come up with Team Toxic's next plan of attack. Being that Hunter and his Pokemon had surprised him before, he was a bit hesitant at first, but Skorupi's earlier speech far outweighed any doubts the ninja was having. "Exceptional work, Skorupi. Team Toxic is lucky to have you. Now, get a good rest. I know exactly who'll take over from here." Venom called Skorupi back to her Pokeball, put it away, then withdrew a Great Ball from his bag without even a small moment of hesitation. "Next up, say hello to the newest addition to Team Toxic! It's Koffing! Our resident Ground type slayer!" As he made his declaration, Venom tossed the Great Ball in his grasp onto the battlefield, and it burst open to reveal another Poison type Pokemon. One that floated in the air, far out of reach of Cubone's Ground type moves.
"Awesome! Looks like it's my turn to battle again, and I'm so happy about it! It's great to meet you! Let's make this an awesome battle, okay?!" Still as enthusiastic as ever, the Poison Gas Pokemon floated straight down to Cubone, and got right in the Ground type's face as he spoke. Clearly, Koffing wasn't at all worried or afraid of the idea of battling a Ground type Pokemon in the slightest. "Team Toxic's pride burns brighter than any flame! Show them what I mean, Koffing! Use Flamethrower!" Feeling rather enthusiastic himself, Venom called for the strongest attack that Koffing had to offer in this situation, hoping to possibly inflict a burn upon the Lonely Pokemon. "You got it, master! Sorry if this burns, little guy! But I can't let my master and my teammates down! So, take this!" The floating Poison type took a huge gulp of air, before breathing out and unleashing a powerful stream of flames down at his foe.

Marrow stood quiet and proud in the middle of the battlefield. He’d spent a long time at Hunter’s side, helping his trainer gain many victories and seeing the world through the cyclist’s eyes on the back of Hunter’s bike. It was all breathtaking and inspiring, but never quite removed the loneliness the Pokemon felt in the pit of its chest. “I will pass your words along to our friend.” Marrow promised Skorupi before Venominon ultimately decided to switch her out for a floating rock that spewed gas from its many pores. “Oh wow, is that a Koffing?! Did you catch it in the Tunnel?” Hunter asked Venom curiously. He’d heard so many tales about that place. Turning to Marrow, Hunter smirked boldly and nodded his head firmly. “I think you know what we need, right Marrow? A strike of vengeance for our friend. Retaliate for your fallen comrade!” The Cyclist gripped one hand firmly on his bike and pointed towards the levitating rock with his other hand. Marrow lifted his bone club up high and nodded his head firmly. “I promise to do my best. For my trainer, and so you’re not disappointed by our battle either.” Cubone cried softly, then added in a firmer tone, “So don’t expect me to go easy on you. Got it?”Cubone rushed after Koffing and chased the strange floating poison type wherever it went. He lunged off the ground, climbing on top of small boulders or large logs to try and give himself a boost. After a few failed attempts at first, Cubone would ram into his opponent with all of his pent up rage and anger for his fallen friend, knocking the other Pokemon temporarily out of the air. Koffing would float back up just as easily and spew a long flame at his opponent that scorched through Marrow’s fur and almost burned his skin. Marrow stopped, dropped, and rolled just in the brink of time to remove the risk of being burned, however. “Oh neat! They can learn that move? I never knew that!” Hunter exclaimed excitedly as he watched Venom’s Koffing spewing flames everywhere. Before being called back to her Pokeball, Skorupi gave Marrow a smile and a bow, showing her gratitude to the Ground type Pokemon for his promise to pass along her message to the unconscious Coconut Pokemon. Shortly after that, Venom nodded in response to Hunter's question about his Koffing. "Indeed, I did. It did take quite a bit of time though. I'm not sure there are many left to be found down there. I have heard rumors that Koffings have been appearing in the Putrid Swamp of the Ilex Forest as of late if you wish to add one to your team as well though." While Venom normally did everything in his power to protect populations of wild Pokemon, he also wished to increase the number of trainers who trained Poison type Pokemon as much as he could. So, with that in mind, he had little to no qualms about passing this information along to the cyclist.
And with that, the battle was on, as Koffing took a big hit right off the bat. "OW! That smarts!" However, even after taking such a powerful hit from the Lonely Pokemon, Koffing still maintained his big grin and high level of excitement. The Poison Gas Pokemon was clearly enjoying this battle, and so was his trainer, gaining a rather confident smile of his own. It was clear that Marrow and Hunter had been together for quite a while and had trained very hard during that time, while Venom and Koffing had only been together for a few hours so far. However, the advantage in this battle still belonged to Team Toxic. The ninja may not have known all the ins and outs of the move Stomp, but he did know how the move Retaliate functioned.
Since Sunday fainted in the previous round of this battle, Marrow's Retaliate gained a boost in power, making it twice as strong as it would be otherwise. Fortunately for Venom and Koffing, this power boost only lasted for one round. Thus, Marrow's next attack likely wouldn't be nearly as strong as his first one. Meanwhile, Koffing's attacks would still be just as powerful as they were in round one. Still, even with this advantage, and in the face of Marrow's vow to win this battle, Koffing was a very good sport, with absolutely no negative emotions present on his face or in his voice. "Well, that's great! I wouldn't want you to go easy on me, and I know all my teammates feel the same way! How can we show the world the true power of Poison types if everyone goes easy on us?!"
The same was true for Venom, as he answered the second question that Hunter asked him right away, doing so with a far more pleasant attitude than most human beings received from the purple-haired trainer. "It would seem that there are a few things I can teach you as well. Not many people know this, but Poison type Pokemon are far more diverse than they realize. For example, I have a Seviper that also knows how to use Flamethrower, as well as Dark Pulse and Giga Drain." After wrapping up his latest explanation, the Poison type trainer returned his focus to the battle at hand once again, going with the same move as the previous round. "And speaking of Flamethrower, hit Marrow with another one, Koffing! Keep up the pressure!" Having heard his trainer loud and clear, Koffing took an even deeper breath than he did in the last round, then let loose with the most powerful Flamethrower attack he could muster. "Another round comin' at ya! Hot n' spicy!"

"Haha, thanks but no thanks, I think I'm good." Hunter replied at the Team Toxic member. "I don't see Koffing as an athletic Pokemon who could keep up. At least Sunday run fast on bright sunny days. Marrow can throw his bone precisely pretty much most of the time."The contrast of the two Pokemon's mood and facial expression was interesting, but the humans don't seem to mind as much. The Koffing was cheerful and energetic, while the Cubone was solemn and reserved. "I don't plan on going easy. Hunter say to always give it your all in battle!" The Cubone replied to the poison ball. "You got your hand on those technical machines? They're a little outside of my reach, but I wouldn't mind teaching my Pokemon some new tricks too." Hunter replied, wondering how could Venom's Pokemon would learn those moves, as they didn't sound that natural for them to learn on their own from being stronger. "Marrow, time to show them your Headbutt!"The ground type warned before making a dash and leap with the aim to smack its head onto the floating ball. "I'm not holding anything back!" Then, the skull-covered Pokemon jumped and rammed onto the Koffing with its skull helmet. The poison type could feel the pain coursing through his body, and could feel his inside mixing up the gasses a bit as he "burped" or "hiccup" after the impact. "That was a good headbutt!" Hunter cheered on his Pokemon's successful attack. Anti-Whitney Association Practice Battle Weather: Clear [attr="class","qkt-bkgd"] [attr="class","qkt-wild-pkmn"] Marrow LV 24 HP 69% [34/65]

While Venom was a little offended by Hunter's comment about Koffing, Venom's own Koffing definitely wasn't. Even in the face of Hunter's criticism and Marrow's attitude, the Poison Gas Pokemon continued to smile and burst with enthusiasm. Thankfully, seeing Koffing's smiling face was all it took to keep Venom calm, as the ninja opted to simply ignore the cyclist's opinion on the matter. Besides, if Venom was being honest, Hunter wasn't exactly wrong. "I will admit, you are correct. Koffing isn't a Pokemon that's known for its athletic ability by any means. However, like all Pokemon, Koffing does have his advantages. For example, his incredible endurance."
And the Poison type trainer was absolutely correct, as Marrow nailed his Headbutt attack, but Koffing seemed to simply shrug it off for the most part. True, the impact did cause Koffing to flinch and momentarily lose his smile, but after quickly shaking his entire body a few times, his smile returned right away. "Woah! Did I just black out for a second there?! Sorry about that, master! I'll get it right next time for sure!" Both his defenses and his enthusiasm were holding strong, and this did well to help Venom do the same, nodding at his newest Pokemon before turning back towards Hunter and Marrow. Unfortunately for Team Toxic, since Marrow was just a little bit faster than Koffing, that meant that the risk of flinching was still very real. Truly, Hunter and his Pokemon had trained very hard, and it really showed.
So, as a show of respect, Venom chose to reply to Hunter's latest question before giving Koffing his next order of the battle. "That is correct, yes. It is true that Pokemon can learn these moves in the wild on their own if they really work at it, but I see nothing wrong with offering them a hand in reaching their full potential. After all, isn't that what trainers like us are supposed to do? Make our Pokemon the best versions of themselves that they can be?" After asking Hunter a question of his own, the ninja waited for his next reply, then returned his attention to the battle. Given that their current strategy was still the best one that Venom could think of, he decided to stick to it and hope that Koffing wouldn't end up flinching a second time.
"Hang tough, Koffing! I know you can do this! So, give Flamethrower another try!" Although their personalities may have been very different from each other, both Koffing and Marrow were trying their very best, wanting to make their respective trainers proud. Koffing could sense that desire coming from Marrow, and he figured that Marrow could probably sense the same coming from him as well. "You got it, master! I'll keep trying as many times as it takes! Now...FIRE!" After taking a moment to brave himself for Marrow's next attack, Koffing gathered all of the flammable gases inside his body into his mouth, then spewed another round of white-hot flames right at the Lonely Pokemon. Hopefully this next round would play out more in Team Toxic's favor.

Cyclist hunter scratched his chin and hummed thoughtfully. He leaned against his bike and studied Koffing as though he might be seeing this Pokemon in a new light altogether. “He’s putting up quite the fight against my Marrow. Plus, when I ran into a Koffing in the Tunnel yesterday I learned firsthand how useless Marrow’s Stomping Tantrum is. Why, though? Koffing aren’t like…part flying type.” They could be a bit tedious when your goal was trying to go as fast as you could on your bike. But Hunter didn’t hold any ill will against a wild Pokemon doing wild Pokemon things. He held ill will at all the people that yelled at him not to ride his bike where he wanted to, when he wanted to. “We gotta keep up the pressure to, Marrow! Another Headbutt. We owe it to our new friend to give ‘em our very best in this fight!” Marrow lifted his bone up high and nodded his head firmly. The small skull-headed reptilian Pokemon stared firmly at Koffing, who floated just above him and seemed to keep quite the jolly personality even in the face of his own adversities. “That I can do. You’re pretty resilient.” Marrow complimented Koffing. He then dashed through the tall grass, jumped on top of a rock, and launched himself up into the air so that he could smash his bone-headed head against the bottom of Koffing’s body. “I must admit. I didn’t expect a poison type to be so tough.” Marrow stated with a smirk. “Honestly, I couldn’t agree more with you.” Hunter nodded his head and flashed a mile long grin in Venominon’ direction. Pokemon needed their trainer’s guidance to become the best versions of themselves. “Most of my Pokemon’s move are learned au naturale, if you get what I mean. But Marrow’s special. He came with a pretty unique move the moment he hatched out of his egg.” Although Hunter hadn’t found the right moment to show Venom this special move, the Cyclist could recall memories of their earliest battles where the move came in clutch at the right times. “Still…if I could afford it…I’d definitely be down to snag a few TMs for myself. Can you believe the Department Store wants, like, $12k for Hyper Beam? It’s highway robbery, I tell ya!” The Cyclist laughed lightheartedly.
