“Mother,” Shinju hissed into her Rotom Phone. “I am telling you, you must fire Jeeves immediately!”
Shinju Fukutomi was not proud of her current state at the moment. Crouched behind the backrest of a wooden bench with her eyes wildly darting around in fear of passersby, Shinju was sure she appeared incredibly suspicious. But she had all the reason to be in such a position, alright? After all—
“My luggage, Mother, my luggage! Oh, he was handling it so roughly that I’m sure all of my dresses are wrinkled. And do not get me started on his insolent attitude. I heard every little snide remark he thought he could make, you wouldn’t believe what he was saying about me. And, Mother, oh, Mother, he left me all alone in this little undeveloped town! He was supposed to be escorting me, and I do not think the definition of escorting means leaving your lady all alone to be subject to thievery or kidnapping or—”
Her mother’s quick retort silenced Shinju immediately. “Oh, hush, Shinju dear, we won’t be having any of that. Jeeves’ task was to escort you to New Bark Town. Nothing more, nothing less. Were you expecting him to travel with you throughout the entire region? Even little ten-year-olds can navigate Johto without a map. I’ve seen it on TV!”
Shinju gritted her teeth and clenched her fists. The Rotom inside her phone began to sweat nervously, fearing a potential crack from the pure force that Shinju gripped it with. “Well, thank you, Mother, it is so wonderful to know that you care!” she spat out before jabbing the ‘End Call’ button and shoving the Rotom Phone back inside her purse.
Her head began to burn with white hot anger, and her heart raced as if a herd of Rapidash were stampeding in a fiery rage. The nerve of that woman! Did she even care about her precious daughter? Shinju inhaled a deep breath and let out a shaky exhale. That won’t do, Shinju, she thought to herself. You are a Lady. The first thing you must do is receive your starter Pokémon. Then you can leave this insignificant town at once.
She smiled a brilliant smile, stood and straightened her back, and made her way to the lab according to her map. It wasn’t a long walk from where she already was, and Shinju had certainly walked longer while on her typical shopping sprees. However, the weathered sidewalks and rocky paths put a strain on her expensive heels, and she had to carry her own luggage like some sort of commoner. By the time Shinju arrived at Professor Elm’s lab, her arms and feet began to ache oh-so-terribly. Pasting on a pleasant expression, she knocked on the door and tidied her appearance before it opened.
After a few seconds, the door didn’t open, and Shinju’s cheeks began to hurt. “Excuse me!” she called out, ensuring her voice was neither too insistent nor too frail. “I am Shinju Fukutami. I believe we had set up an appointment over the phone?”
Ugh, this was the service you got in some places. Any of Shinju’s servants back home—the good ones, mind you—would have answered the door in a split second.

Spring was in the air and while New Bark Town could by no means compete with Cherrygrove, spring flowers was peeking their head ups from hedges and grass and dotted the still otherwise rather grey and brown looking ground with delicate colors. It spread an energy and happiness in the little town, and people was out and about enjoying the sun which was showing itself here and there as the clouds traveled past it. The day was full of hope and promises of new beginnings. Shinju would receive a few odd looks, strangers were no rare sight here, but few were looking like she was. Most new trainers were in practical clothes, and in a good mood as they were looking forward to their travel and excited to get their first pokemon. A pair of neighbors were hanging over the fence chatting when they noticed the newcomer. "Oi, you think that's a new trainer? She won't last long," the male one said with a chuckle and the female shook her head, "oh dear no, that cannot be right. She's probably going to be The Professor's assistance, he has been looking for help.""True, true," the male said and watched her haul her back after her. After a short amount of silence the female spoke up in a more quiet voice, "anything new about Kent?"The male sent her a painful look at lifted his cap to ran a hand through what remained of his hair, he glanced around as if to make sure the one they spoke about wasn't around. "It ain't looking good I'm afraid, his parents are very distraught," he sighed quietly and the female expressed her sympathy, their conversation turned to how they could help the unlucky family. The Lab was easy to find, it was clearly not a house you (only) lived in, and it was surrounded by a wall although there was no gate to keep people out. Shinju's knocking obviously didn't attract any attention, but strangely enough, her calling out didn't either! Not long after, she would hear a crash and the muffled voice of a man which sounded urgent, although she wouldn't be able to hear what he said. If she opened the door, the sounds would be much clearer, more crashing and what sounded like flapping could be heard. "Stop! I won't hurt you! Calm down! You just, ouch need to ouch, go out the window! It's open!" The man urged. If Shinju looked into the room from where the heard the noises, she would see a spearow currently clinging to and pecking on a briefcase which a man in a labcoat was holding up to defend himself in the corner he had been chased into. "Oh! I could really use your help! On the table over there, there is pokemon in the pokeballs, can you please help me chase this bird out of the lab?" The man called out to Shinju when he noticed her. To her right, right beside the door was a low table with three pokeballs, along with an older looking pokedex. It was the only part of the lab which wasn't in a mess, as chairs had been tipped, books and paper lay spread out on the floor, a few papers still floating down to the floor and potted plants which clearly had been standing in the windowsill had been thrown to the floor and cracked, spreading soil everywhere. (ooc: just hinting at the quests in New Bark, if they should have any interest ) Shiny: EBtq9_y81-421-42

Brows furrowed, Shinju began to tap her foot impatiently as the door continued to stay closed. The nerve of some places! Was she not an important guest deserving of professionalism and attentive service? Well, she didn’t need a Pokémon anyway! She had half a mind to simply turn around and devise a way to return home until her thoughts were disturbed by a very loud CRASH!!
Shinju flung open the door and stood boldly at the threshold with her hands on her hips. “I’m sorry, but I have been patiently waiting for—oh my!”
The Lab had been reduced to utter chaos. Papers fluttered about, chairs and books were strewn around, and a number of pots had been toppled over causing numerous soil piles to appear on the floor. “What in the world…!” Shinju gaped in shock, utterly baffled by the scene that unfolded before her. She took a step back and nervously surveyed the room until her eyes finally noticed the Spearow pecking angrily at a poor man’s briefcase. For such a small thing to have caused this much madness!
Shinju paled as the man began to ask for her help, and her heart dropped as she heard him imply that she might have to battle. Didn’t he have servants to do this sort of thing for him? Even if he did, it was obvious they were wholly incompetent at their jobs. She pitied the man almost, perhaps even empathized with him! Yes, Shinju knew what it was like to have a Jeeves who couldn’t even do his job right.
“Well, if no one is going to do anything, I might as well step up!” she exclaimed, grabbing a random Pokéball from the table and throwing it out. “Go, uh, whatever you are!”
In a stream of bright light, there appeared a Bulbasaur, yawning as if awoken from a deep sleep. “Bulba? Bulbasaur?” Huh? What’s going on?
Shinju sucked her teeth. Bulbasaur and Spearow—not a great type match-up if she remembered correctly. But that Spearow probably wasn’t too strong, all things considered. She’d probably be okay.
“Bulbasaur!” she called out to the little blue-green creature. “Use Tackle on that Spearow!”
The Bulbasaur looked back at Shinju with an expression of surprise. Was this his trainer now? Well, he had to prove that he was going to be a good companion. No… the best one!
Eyes steeled with determination, Bulbasaur locked on to the Spearow and attempted to tackle it to oblivion.

The wild avian darted about the room in hot pursuit. Its blood boiled underneath its feathers and all it could see from its eyes was red. Whenever the Professor would reach out with a hand to try and shoo it away, the small sparrow would swoop down with its sharp talons and scratch at his palms and wrist. They would rue the day that they tried to keep the wild bird prisoner inside of this strange place of weird flatten tree trunks with no branches to roost itself inside of. Buildings? Or whatever they called such places! It screeched, landing on top of several books that littered the ground with some of them knocked on top of the Professor himself, and pecked at the man’s back. When the strange looking bulbous plant Pokemon appeared fully prepared to take on the pink-winged beast, Spearow would swoop back up into the air while screaming in a sharp trill. What was this beast that they had found to battle against it?! Two young girls who appeared to be freshly in college or as though they just graduated high school hid around the corner that led to a long, narrow walkway. One had long blonde hair that spilled in a perfectly straight line down her back whilst the other had short brunette hair in tight southern bell curls. They talked in quiet whispers amongst each other, then shouted to the professor, “How can we help?!” But they lacked any Pokemon of their own to scare it off with. Greeny would make the first move. He rammed into the small pink-winged bird with his full weight and managed to knock the feathery beast off the Professor’s Back. The bird screeched, swooping up into the air, then dived after Greeny with its sharp talons extended, though they missed at every turn. “Stay still so I can teach you a lesson about helping these useless humans!” The angry bird growled at the top of its voice, chasing after Greeny who managed to lead it away from the Professor. Elm slowly pushed himself up through the piles of paperwork and rubble that littered his floors. “You both can help by organizing our stuff. I’m afraid we’ll need a few more assistants than the ones we were expecting to show…but didn’t.” He then turned to Shinju with a soft smile as he picked up his glasses and slowly began to wipe them clean to place on his face. “Thank you for coming to my aid.” Wild Encounter Weather: Clear [attr="class","qkt-bkgd"] [attr="class","qkt-wild-pkmn"] Spearow LV 3 HP 63% [10/16]

The little Spearow continued to be a force to be reckoned with, scratching and screeching and spreading its mess around. Bulbasaur’s Tackle did a decent amount of damage, but it unfortunately did not knock some sense into the bird. “Poor creature,” Shinju sighed as she observed the agitated Pokémon.
Idiotic birdbrain, she really wanted to say. Instead, Shinju turned to the Professor and bowed her head gracefully. “Oh, it is certainly no problem. Anyone else would have done it.”
Some of the Professor’s assistants finally arrived, but they had no Pokémon to truly be useful in this situation. Shinju acknowledged the two girls with a nod but otherwise ignored their presence. At least they were going to finally make the Lab appear presentable—she was beginning to feel restless in these subpar conditions so unbefitting of a Fukutomi heiress! Bulbasaur, on the other hand, was a different story.
Finally he could stretch his stubby legs out and run around! The papers scattered about sounded like the crinkling of autumn leaves as they fell on the ground. The smell of dirt reminded him of home, and he wanted to roll around and cover himself with the stuff. “Bulbasaaaur!!” Bulbasaur cheered as he ran rampant around the lab, leading Spearow this way and that. Hey, this is fun! “Bulba-bulba-bulbasaur!”
You can’t catch me!
Shinju gawked as the Bulbasaur seemed to begin contributing to the mess. “This is not playtime, Bulbasaur!” she scolded him. Pointing to the Spearow, she repeated her earlier command. “Once more, use Tackle!”
Bulbasaur skidded in his tracks and reoriented himself in order to launch his sturdy body at Spearow. “Bulba… SAUR!”
Here we… GO!

Papers were flying everywhere as the two Pokemon continued their rampant destruction of the lab, so much so that Professor Elm could barely stand to watch. All of those hard earned and carefully organized papers, all that time, simply wasted. "Ugh...this is going to take forever to reorganize...." the scientist lamented, ducking behind his desk, with just his eyes popping up, sort of like a Sandile in the desert. "Professor, if we organize now, wouldn't the papers just get messy again?" one of the assistants called, trying to be heard over the din of the battle. "Obviously! I didn't mean to clean up during the battle!" he called back, rolling his eyes slightly. It was getting harder and harder to find assistants that were truly with it. The papers distracted the Spearow enough that as the bird was ducking and dodging the sheets, Greeny was able to escape the bird's notice just long enough to plow into the bird with a tackle attack, even making the bird drop out of the air. With a bit of a spastic flap of its stubby wings, the Spearow managed to right itself quickly and with one hop was now face to face with Greeny. The wild bird's beak began to glow a white color before it very viciously and deliberately pecked the Bulbasaur right in the face. Sneering after the strike, the bird puffed itself up to look a little bigger. <That's what you get for doing the bidding of a human!> the bird cawed, failing to see that Pokemon were usually treated a bit better by their human companions than the gossip of the wild dictated. The continued chaos made Shinju’s cheeks begin to start turning into a very conspicuous shade of red. Her ever-present smile began to twitch, and her hands curled into shaky fists.
Bulbasaur… you are making an utter fool out of me!
“I am so very sorry about all this, Professor,” she apologized profusely, hoping that her remaining composure played her feelings off as the bashful sort of embarrassment rather than the utter rage that was simmering beneath the surface. “I think Bulbasaur is having a bit too much fun.”
If only Jeeves were still here! Then she could have him help clean up as soon as the battle was finished. The briefest thought that she could assist in reorganizing the lab popped up in her mind, but Shinju quickly waved it off as it came. That would be utterly preposterous! A Fukutomi simply did not get her hands dirty, and that wasn’t going to change anytime soon.
The Spearow finally faced Bulbasaur head on, and Shinju groaned as she saw it pecked Bulbasaur squarely between the eyes. Although Bulbasaur seemed to shake it off and make light of the injury—was he… laughing at Spearow?—Shinju did not want to continue watching the two Pokémon ruin the lab. She dug into the depths of her purse, pushing aside things such as her lipstick and hairbrush and sunglasses, until her fingers felt the smooth round surface of a Poké Ball.
“Let’s finish this now,” Shinju huffed. She pressed the button of the Poké Ball, feeling it expand to its full size, and lobbed it forcefully at the Spearow.
Just get in the Ball so I can leave this place!

Professor Elm’s eyes washed over the inside of his lab as he sighed to himself. There was a lot of work that would need to be done so that they could get this place running back properly. The papers and books that littered the ground was one thing. Simply picking them up and reorganizing them where they went was all that would be needed to get them back in order, and shouldn’t take but a few hours in all to sort the mess out. Though the overturned equipment, broken beakers, and other items that were damaged and would ultimately need to be replaced were more concerning matters. As it was, his lab floated on enough money to get them through just fine – it wasn’t glamorous but donors and grants helped them ensure that they had just enough for their various researches. The Spearow landed on the desk and tapped its sharp talons against the wood, scraping it as it hopped about. It fluffed out its wings and pecked through the scattered paperwork on the wooden frame as though it were searching for grub. “Not again!” Professor Elm sighed, sinking back down underneath his desk to try and hide from the wild bird. When the Poke Ball soared through the air and zapped it up inside, it would fall on top of the wooden desk. As the ball shook with the effort of the wild bird trying to escape, it would roll off and fall on the floor, rolling around in the littered papers before dinging successfully with Shinju’s capture. “Oh, thank you! Finally, we can start to straighten up.” Elm stated, standing up and nodding to his assistants. The two girls turned to each other and nodded their head firmly before they would begin their work picking up the various pieces of paper and books scattered across the ground. One of the assistants handed another some protective gear for the various shards of glass that might have been mixed in from broken beakers and other glassware. Professor Elm straightened his glasses and walked over to Miss Fukutomi with a pleasant smile. “Thank you for your help, miss! I’m terribly sorry you had to see our lab in such a disarray.” He nodded back to his now cleaning crew of two. “Though it looks like Bulbasaur’s truly bonded with you. I take it this will be your starter, then?” Elm asked, waiting for Fukutomi to confirm the facts for him. Once she did, he would turn to his desk, shuffle through the disorganized supplies, and pull a small Pokedex along with a few starting supplies into his hands to give to Shinju. “This should get you started on your journey.” SUCCESS!!

Finally, it was over. Shinju breathed out a sigh of relief as she walked over and picked up the Poké Ball containing the newly caught Spearow. The corners of her mouth perked up into something of a satisfied smirk. She had long given up her childhood dream of having a Pokémon of her own, and suddenly, Shinju had had her first battle and caught her first Pokémon in one fell swoop. Nevermind that it was something as common as a Spearow. If it was caught by the likes of Shinju Fukutomi herself, then surely it was a special Spearow. A powerful Spearow. A Spearow from the legends of old. Ugh, who was she kidding? Dusting off her skirt, Shinju put the Poké Ball away and turned to Professor Elm with a more gracious, ladylike smile. “Oh, no need to thank me, Professor,” she said. “If anything, I apologize for the greater mess I caused. I suppose that is simply the nature of Pokémon battles. As for Bulbasaur…” She looked over at Bulbasaur who was now splayed onto his belly and happily chewing on some papers. Her eyes widened, and before Elm could notice, she quickly pulled the now damp papers out of his mouth and hoisted the grass Pokémon into her arms. “Yes, I think Bulbasaur and I will get along swimmingly!”“B-Bulba…saur…!” Hey… you’re squeezing me a bit tight!Shinju took the Pokédex and starting supplies, placed them in her purse, and bade Professor Elm and the assistants farewell. The moment she left the lab and let the sun’s rays hit her face, a wave of exhaustion suddenly hit her as the adrenaline from the battle began to subside. Somehow, the day wasn’t over yet. It was still bright outside, only midday while the battle inside felt like eternity. One measly step in the long journey to getting her inheritance. “We’re going to be together for a while. I suppose I should name you and Spearow now,” Shinju hummed. Bulbasaur’s ears perked up as Shinju released Spearow from her ball. A name… a nickname! His very own nickname! “Yippee!” he cheered as he began running in circles around Shinju’s feet. “We’re being named! We’re being named!”Spearow, on the other hand, was absolutely fuming. Sure, she was out of that weird human building place with no trees or nests to speak of, but now she had been captured, forced to do the bidding of her— bleugh—trainer. How could she face her flock after this? “Shut up!” Spearow squawked at Bulbasaur. “If anything, we are being stripped of our dignity! Robbed of our identities! We are prisoners, you fool! Prisoners!”Shinju closed her eyes and tried to think of something creative to name her two new Pokémon. Something elegant. Something befitting the Pokémon of a Lady. “You.” Her pointer finger landed on Bulbasaur. Bulby? Saury? No, Shinju had something better in mind. “Henceforth, you will be called… Greeny.”“Wooo! Greeny!” He jumped onto a patch of nearby grass and began rolling around in celebration. “Greeny!?” Spearow gawked at the newly named Greeny in disbelief. “That’s the stupidest name ever!”“And you!” Spearow gulped. What even stupider name could this human come up with? “Spearow… Onisuzume… Suzume… Suzy!” Shinju grinned at Spearow triumphantly. “Yes, from now on you shall be named Suzy.”“They called me the Undying Wind. They called me the Relentless Shriek. The birds of the forest feared the flap of my little wings. And now… I am Suzy.”Suzy hung her head in shame. “I think it’s a great name,” Greeny said. “Don’t talk to me right now.”Shinju clapped her hands and pulled out her map, mustering up what energy she had left. She couldn’t rest now, not with the day still ahead of her. “Well, that’s that. We shall take advantage of the daylight and make our way to Cherrygrove. Ah, but surely there will be other trainers on Route 29. Perhaps we should make reservations for dinner. Jeeves, will you be a dear and—oh.”She was alone now. Her temper began to flare up but just as quickly cooled. Shinju’s dark eyes were unreadable as she returned Greeny and Suzy to their Poké Balls and began making her way to Route 29. She was alone now—so what? Not everyone was so lucky enough that they could bring their butler or maid along for their Pokémon journey. She would just have to make reservations herself! Shinju soon found herself standing on the path of Route 29, her purse one Poké Ball heavier after a run-in with a sickly little boy named Kent. Her arms and feet were beginning to feel tired again after dragging around her luggage on the bumpy ground, but that unreadable gleam in her eye had soon dissolved into raw determination. Just think of the money, she kept telling herself. Think of the dresses! The jewels!Whatever stood in her path, be it trainer or Pokémon, would have to drown in her frills first before she even thought of giving all that up.

Elm smiled at the interaction between Shinju and her new Pokemon; it warmed his heart to see new Trainers bonding so quickly with their Pokemon. While the Bulbasaur's demeanor and choice in papers to chew on was slightly worrisome, he had a good feeling about these two. Of course, his 'good feeling' and thoughts about the new pair would quickly be consumed and replaced by the sounds of his aides scurrying around to try and clean up the mess that their battle had left behind. "Well, I'd love to give you a better welcome to the town and a congratulations to your new catch, but we have to get this place looking presentable before Mr. Pokemon comes to visit. Thanks again for your help, feel free to stop by any time you're in the neighborhood and feel like visiting! Would love to see how you and your new partners are getting along!"With that, Shinju was out in the sunshine. The people of New Bark continued on with their daily lives, undisturbed by the noise and excitement that had happened within the Elm Pokemon Lab. It was such a common occurrence, Elm and his Pokemon struggling to get along; it was a common thought amongst the townsfolk that Elm really needed some more competent assistants. Of course, none were brave enough to take that job on themselves. But none of that would matter to the little princess that wandered with her captive friends onto the first Route. Of course, with her encounter with the boy named Kent out of the way, Shinju was ready to continue on with her journey. But something was inevitably going to interrupt her and these early steps. Toddling out of the brush and the greenery came a strange looking bear, a Spinda seemingly lost in a daze. The Spinda made a beeline straight for the luggage being dragged behind Shinju, not seeming ready to stop for anything that might have ended up in its path. When it got within arm's reach of the luggage, the bear wrapped its arms around the bags, rubbing its red-marked face against the luggage and almost purring. It looked up at Shinju expectantly, as if expecting her to take offense at its attempts to cuddle up against her belongings. It would be easy to get lost in its eyes, lost in the confusing nature of the spinning panda bear. But Shinju would have to find some way to get through the bear and out of its grip. "Gimme the mystery box please, pretty lady." the bear began to coo up at her. A wild Spinda (Level 6) is trying to cuddle up to Shinju's luggage! What will Shinju do? Shiny? XzxDfVI21-421-42

G randpa Hoshi would sometimes recount the memories of his childhood to Shinju, painting the vivid days where he and his brothers would bike out to Route 29 to catch bugs, watch trainers battle, and take day trips to Cherrygrove City to buy sodas and one cent candies. Shinju would listen to those tales begrudgingly—she wasn’t sure what about her screamed, “Oh yes, Grandpa, I would love to hear about your commoner days,” but she wouldn’t dare be disrespectful to her grandfather and the man who held billions in his bank account. Maybe if she was younger like how Grandpa Hoshi was in his stories, then she would have enjoyed this more. But alas, Shinju was sixteen-years-old and could only think about how much dirt her heels were collecting, how sweaty she was getting under her ribbons and petticoats, and how heavy her luggage suddenly felt as she dragged it through the tall grass. Did she really pack this much? She could have sworn it was only a few dresses, some blouses and skirts, her perfumes, shampoos, conditioners, her Goodra slime face masks, silk pajamas, fluffy bathrobe… Shinju looked behind her and shrieked. A dazy Spinda had latched itself onto her luggage, purring and rubbing itself up against the expensive casing. Someone else might have found it endearing and decide to take the Spinda home with them, but this Spinda wasn’t endearing. Oh no, this Spinda was a threat—a threat to Shinju’s brand name luggage, to her designer clothes, to her eye-poppingly expensive skin care products. She wouldn’t have a wild Pokémon make a mess of what luxuries she managed to bring with her on her journey. “Shoo! Away with you!” Shinju exclaimed as she began shaking and rattling her luggage back and forth in an attempt to throw the Spinda off. “Bad Spinda, bad! Why, I’ll have you know, everything in here is worth your life twenty times over!”But the Spinda was persistent, and Shinju was beginning to think that trying to shoo it away herself wasn’t enough. She groaned into her hands. Another battle in one day? Was this the life of the trainer? “Suzy, deal with this,” she commanded, taking several steps away from the luggage and sending out the Spearow. Suzy blinked as her eyes adjusted to the light, but it didn’t take long for her to hone in on the strange bear-rabbit Pokémon and get an idea of the situation. “What the heck are YOU doing?” Suzy crowed at the Spinda, not out of loyalty to her trainer but disgust at the Pokémon’s interest in human objects. “It’s just a weird box. Probably filled with rotten Berries and other junk.”“Use Peck on that Spinda! Oh, but do avoid jostling my luggage any further!”Suzy felt a vein twitch, and Shinju could have sworn that the bird Pokémon had given her the stink eye. “Come on, Suzy,” Shinju pleaded. “I’ll give you Poké Puffs if you do! Poké Puffs, would you like that? Soft and fluffy with buttercream frosting and fresh Berry toppings.”Suzy’s stomach growled against her will. She didn’t know what buttercream frosting was, but every Pokémon understood Berries. Poké Puffs—if that was what Shinju's weird box contained... “Fine, fine!” Suzy relented. She readied her beak for a mean Peck, willing it to grow sharper and fiercer in order to get those Poké Puffs as soon as possible. “Okay, weirdo, take this!”—

The small child sized red panda clung onto the bag for dear life as Shinju tried to shake it free. It could feel its brain bouncing around in its head. Something boiled up from its stomach through its esophagus and made it feel like it might hurl. When it reached up to press one hand over its mouth, with its cheeks puffing out on either side of its face, Spinda would drop to the ground unable to keep clinging on with only one of its hands. It stood up and spun around, barfing small bits of its breakfast onto the grass terrain around it. “Ugh. That is…the last time I eat oran berries for breakfast…” Spinda mumbled underneath its breath as it shook its head. When Suzie appeared the panda’s swirly eyes spun. It was Spinda’s version of rolling its eyes, even when it lacked the normal concept of such things to roll. “Listen…you don’t like her much, do you?” Spinda pointed to the spoiled ‘princess’ who seemed like she’d lost her way from the castle years ago with no hope of returning now. “What if you help me take the suitcase from her? And we split the proceeds? 50/50?” A deal that this greedy little bear might never make good on if it could slip away with the suitcase in hand without having to actually divvy up whatever lurked inside. Poke Puffs or what have you, Spinda wanted it all to itself. When the bird swooped after it, Spinda swatted at it with its thick arms and shielded its face from Suzie’s sharp talons. As soon as the Spearow was close enough for Spinda to get a good grasp, it would reach up on the tips of its toes and grab the bird by its legs, causing them both to fall into the grass and tumble about on the soggy and definitely dirty ground. Spinda rammed its head and elbows into Suzie, tackling her from all angles. In retaliation, Suzie pecked mercilessly at the spot panda’s shoulders and arms. “You know that hurts right? Cut it out if you want your 40% of our trade deal!” Spinda snapped angrily. Wild Encounter Weather: Blooming [attr="class","qkt-bkgd"] [attr="class","qkt-wild-pkmn"] Spinda LV 6 HP 88% [22/25]

T he Spinda threw up next to her suitcase, so terribly close to her expensive carry-ons, and Shinju wanted to throw herself to the ground and cry. Instead, she took out a lace handkerchief from her skirt pocket and bit into the fabric, looking dramatically away from the scene that unfolded in front of her. A single tear fell down her cheek. “You’re a beast,” she rebuked the panda creature, voice all choked up. “A disgusting monster.”Suzy, on the other hand, paused momentarily at what Spinda had to say. “Yeah. She’s weird, even for a human.” After all, to Suzy, who had only so far seen average people in her life, Shinju’s strange elaborate clothing and choking floral scent was like seeing an alien for the first time. “But… she’s MY trainer. And that means if I defeat you, I get EVERYTHING in that box!”And if Greeny and Buggy tried to force her to share, she’d just Peck them out of the way! Spinda was a lot stronger than Suzy, though, and after that forceful Tackle, Suzy was already winded, scratched up, and nearly beaten. “40%?” Suzy panted. “You said 50/50, you cheat!” But before the Spearow could drill her beak into Spinda again, Shinju pursed her lips and raised Suzy’s Poké Ball in the air. “Suzy, return!”Suzy screeched as she was returned to her Poké Ball, directing many rude words and obscenities at Spinda before she was bathed in a bright light. It was good that Suzy was able to get some experience, Shinju thought, but another hit and she’d faint. She wanted this Spinda gone. Out of sight. Banished to the outer realms of Route 29 where it would never be seen again. That probably left her strongest Pokémon to get the job done. “Go, Greeny! And use Growth!”“WOOOOO!” Greeny cheered as he bound out from his Poké Ball and onto the playing field. “Hi, random Spinda! Are we battling? Ooh, this is going to be fun. Okay, just wait, she just told me to do something. Trainers, you know. Okay! Grow! Grow! Grow!”It was a new move, but Greeny had seen other Bulbasaurs do it before, and it looked pretty easy. Just concentrate on your bulb, they’d say. He closed his eyes shut and clenched every muscle in his body to grow, grow, grow! Power rushed through his body as it was bathed in a refreshing green light, and Greeny felt he could probably take on Arceus if he grew enough times. "Come at me, Spinda, I dare you!" the Bulbasaur boasted good-naturedly. —

A half glance was shot in the direction of Shinju at her insult but as she had failed to see how magnificent and cute the spinda was, it ignored her. The important thing was the bag and the fact that the normal type wanted something more than dry nuts and overly ripen berries, and humans always had that on them. "So you're in?" The spinda just got to ask hopefully when Suzy got the horrible idea that she wanted it all for herself. "She won't! If she had, she would have given it to you already!" It shouted desperately, but calmed down when it realized that the spearow wasn't such big of a threat as it had initially thought. It easily pushed the bird back and smirked when it protested about the changed deal. "Yeah, it was! But you didn't take it in time so it drops! If you don't stop now it'll be 30/70!" It called confidently to her but the bird disappeared in a flash of red light before she got a chance to accept this one. With nothing standing between it and its prize, the spinda wobbled and stumbled over to the bag but the moment it placed a hand on it a white flash sent out Greeny. "Ugh, another one," it mumbled and looked at its new opponent and sighed, didn't seem like it could make a deal with this one like it had attempted with Suzy. "No, not really," Spinda said innocently when Greeny asked if they were battling. The bulbasaur was too excited to really hear it seemed and closed her eyes to do her trainer's bidding. Spinda was not going to let that chance get away and it stumbled forward, clasped its hands together in front of them so they made a pointy arrow and shoved them into Greeny's side in a very pecking like manner. It didn't stop Greeny though and she basked in the sun and seemed to grow a bit bigger, the spinda watched her thoughtfully and when she opened her eyes and dared it to attack it, it pouted and looked down sadly, and stumbled a bit to the left as a spinda could never stand still. "I don't wanna," it said and sniffled, "I just wanted a bit of food but your trainer didn't want to share me any and your bird friend was mean and pecked me," its bottom lip quivered as it turned up for the waterworks, and wobbled a few steps backwards. "Can't we just be friends?" It asked and as it looked up at Greeny with its confusing swirling eyes it stumbled forward and fell into the bulbasaur. A s the battle continued, Shinju's confidence began to wane. The Spinda had managed to get two attacks on Greeny, and now the Bulbasaur was looking a little worse for wear. Should she have immediately went out with an attacking move rather than a status one? Should she heal Greeny right now or wait until the Spinda got in another attack? She tried to wrack her brain for what little battle knowledge she had retained from her prestigious all-girls private school, but all that remained was how to correctly put down your teacup and how to coordinate your silks and with your chiffons. ... Not really helpful at the moment. "Come on, Greeny," Shinju said, determined to navigate and find a clear path out of this battle. "This time, use Vine Whip!"Greeny looked back at Shinju with a hesitant look on his face. If what that Spinda was saying was true... then shouldn't they be sharing all the food that they had? But he didn't smell any food on his trainer earlier. Maybe it was supposed to be a surprise? His trainer didn't really seem like the surprising type, though. "I-I'm sorry," Greeny said, vines wavering uncertainly in the air. "My trainer is kind of weird... and Suzy is kind of prickly. Oh, but!" His little ears perked up optimistically. "Maybe if my trainer catches you, then we can have a picnic!" A picnic would be so awesome! "After we're done with this battle, obviously!"—
