Fortunately for the poor zigzagoon's ego, nobody else saw the little bug fall from the tree. Zag was still shaking his head, ready to lunge forth at his opponent...only to be distracted by a shadow that had him glancing up at the sky. At the clouds shifting around the moon like a ship parting the waves at sea. There was a flash at the corner of his vision, but when he looked down, all he saw was the faint glow of Flicker, who waved at him from behind the tree. Their trainer was still preoccupied with his pokegear—and a little befuddled when a silcoon was suddenly registered in his dex. Was that a glitch?
Hum...
Zag huffed at the tree.
<Maybe this one is out of pokemon...> he muttered before whirling to slam into another head first. Flicker floated back to Adrian's bag and swiped a candy, still in its wrapper. She then snuck into the tall grasses, opposite of where everyone was facing, and released the silcoon.
<A peace offering> she told the confused cocoon.
She pressed the candy to its little mouth and the bug gobbled it up with curiosity. Then suddenly, it erupted with light. Shifting and changing into a beautifly. As it marveled at its own transformation, Flicker giggled again and poked at the ball, causing it to activate and swallow up the beautifly AGAIN.
Adrian tugged at his hair as he saw ANOTHER pokemon register in his pokedex that he didn't catch. What a weird glitch.
Flicker, enjoying his bafflement, cheerfully snuck the ball into his bag to be discovered later.

Using headbutt again.
(Still looking for that pesky pineco and heracross.) (Also need to be careful about attacking willy nilly as I am trying to maximize the LV up gainz for my under 25s)
Using SM EXP candy to LV up Silcoon and evolve it into Beautifly. Beautifly will learn Gust.

The mischievous little Litwick was causing harmless chaotic pranks at the expense of the wild Pokemon being caught, her trainer, and her other Pokemon friend. The poor Silcoon was knocked off its dwelling on the tree, sucked into a capture device, summoned, ate candy from a stranger which let it evolve into its final form, and got sent back into the capture device in a span of maybe five minutes. Now the little Silcoon probably had some time to process what had just happened unless Adrian or the ghost type would pop it out of the Pokeball again. As Zag had desired, he rammed into another tree trying to shake something off. This time, the FOURTH Cascoon fell into the cold, soft ground. It was trying really hard to stay quiet and silent to avoid being seen. Perhaps, once the coast was clear, it would pull itself back into the tree with a quick String Shot.

It was dark. Not the best time for Zag to see everything out there. As snow fell lightly around him and he shook himself off, he managed to NOT see the cascoon fall out of a tree. He sighed. Okay. Maybe he just needed to find another one to go harass. Thus he started to scamper around, testing other trees with headbutts as Flicker drifted closer to her prey. Another buggy that needed BURNED.
Tee-hee.
She snuck up on the cascoon that tried so hard to go unnoticed before breathing little white-hot embers ALL over the buggie. She started to giggle, enjoying harassing the helpless pokemon with perhaps a little too much glee. She thought back to bug catching contest where she was able to burn so many buggies. MORE MORE MORE!
It had been /wonderful/.
And she was enjoying stealing these battles from the oblivious Zag. Wasn't she so much nicer than the others who stole them out from under his nose? Flicker at least took the battles that he hadn't spotted yet. Such a benevolent little ghostie who was quite happy to turn any stray buggies into smoke.

The giggles startled the Silcoon, who was helpless in its cocoon. The poor bug shrieked as its little mouth could. Flames drifted from the Litwicke's head, burning the hardy but malleable hide of the cocoon Pokemon immediately. The bug type tried to hopped around to get rid of the fire, but the consuming flames took over and burned the stamina out of the poor bug. Defeated, the unconscious bug was brought back up by a tree resident using strong String Shots. The sly Litwick had secure another victory in her bag, as she had gotten stronger. The sky continued to drop snow slowly as the battle ended, leaving a beautiful night scene as the trainer and his Pokemon continued headbutting trees and frolicked in the snow.

"Musta been a bug in the system," Adrian muttered as he gave up on figuring out why his pokedex was registering a silcoon and a beautifly despite him not catching one. He settled back down and watched Zag swerve about, looking for the perfect tree to harass. He didn't notice the invisible litwick following him around, looking to turn to smoke any buggies she could! Tee-hee!
"Hm...the pokedex shows that there is a low chance of other pokemon being found in trees in this area. Pineco. Heracross. Ambipom. Cherubi. Interesting. Seems like there's a high probability of grass or bug pokemon in the grass...which of course attracts predators like spearow. Saw one of those already."
Zag ran headfirst into another tree.

Ramming into another tree, the Zigzagoon was looking for another fight to handle on his own, after being oblivious of the Silcoon that the Litwick had cooked. The fallen Pokemon fell to the ground with a soft thud, and closed its eyes as it tried to camouflage like yet another pinecone on the ground, in the dark night hiding on the snowy ground. However, being freshly fallen, it looked a little obvious to be seen. It didn't have any bug type friends that could shoot silk to string it back up, as they're currently asleep. This unfortunate Pokemon would have to be careful in case there's someone looking for a fight with it. Would the energetic Zigzagoon and the sly little Litwick noticed it? It could near some noises nearby, but if it dared to turn and to look, it would give its position away!

The pineco landed near enough to Zag that he did notice. The little raccoon perked up and he yipped excitedly. <Finally! I will show everyone how strong I am now!> He ran as fast as he could at his target and...slipped a bit on the snow and slush. Instead of headbutting the pineco, he sorta knocked into it, paws scrambling for purchase as he clumsily tried to grab it.
That...was not impressive! But he'd just get himself turned around to try again and—
"I haven't seen one of those before. Good job, Zag, those are native to the area but they must be pretty rare here in the garden. Wasn't expecting you to find one."
And then he threw a ball at the pineco.
Once again stealing another battle from the zigzagoon.
He wailed. Nooooo.

A little smack on the face got the Pineco lost its attempt to blend into the surrounding. The bug type quickly spun on the snow, shoveling a quick flurry of snow at the Zigzagoon, as it began rolling on the ground for rounds of continuous attacks. Fortunately and unfortunately for Zag, the rolling Pineco was stopped by Adrian's capture attempt. The bug Pokemon was sucked into the capture sphere and fell on the ground. It swirled once. DING! The Pineco didn't even put up much of a struggle against being captured. It must have been tired of the Spearows in the area or something. Zag did learned a lot though, if you call a smack much of a learning experience!

The ball wiggled and then fell still. Adrian had his prize in hand!
Adrian scooped the ball and then checked his pokedex, oblivious to Zag's whining. He sure felt stronger after all this headbutting, but he still had not evolved! Surely there was some magic or secret or reason! He cursed that politoed for stealing his rock again before bracing himself barging at yet another tree.
This time. This time he would prove himself, surely!
Flicker giggled and followed close behind. Poor little Zag. Would he get his foe stolen again? Adrian looked like he was prepared to start training another pokemon and there were plenty of pokeballs in his pockets...

Another headbutt. Another thud. Another... Silcoon appeared! The mostly immobile Pokemon hid itself in the dark as it waited for the predator who shook it down to be gone. However, it wasn't even sure who and what knocked it out of the tree. It waited patiently to see what was happening and what would happened, as predator usually lurked in the shadow a little longer before they would strike. The poor bug Pokemon was sweating if it could do that inside its cocoon! It could only see and hear so far, which wasn't a lot of distance. It was nervous just thinking about what could happen next. Please be nothing, please be nothing!

"A silcoon again, huh?" Zag got ready to do an awesome headbutt on this silcoon when— "Perfect time to see how this pokemon I caught at that raid den at the festival does in a battle. Hope your don't mind Zag." Having shuffled his boxes with the nifty app he'd figured out on the Pokegear, he withdrew a slowking into his party that he'd never used in battle before.
Typically, slowpoke needed to be traded while holding a king's rock to evolve into this variant, but the slowpoke he caught at the raid had been a galar breed. It evolved when exposed to a strange, braided crown of exotic flowers he also purchased at the festival out of curiosity. It was quite the curious experience, that festival, and he wanted to see if this slowking was any good.
When battling it as a slowpoke at a raid, it was...annoying. A tanky mon that recovered its health at a very inopportune time. But now he could see what it could do while evolved!
Zag whined at Adrian, not at all happy about that declaration.
<This is my battle! I knock pokemon out of trees to fight to prove I am strong and to get stronger and everyone keeps steaaaliiing. I don't like itttt.> He huffed and pout all very childishly. But alas, it was to no avail. Adrian sent out that slowking against Zag's wishes and Zag glared. It was...an odd looking thing. With a weird hat and an eerie demeanor. It looked strong. Too strong for comfort, honestly. Wouldn't it be better if it just like...went AWAY. Back into its ball?!
But it did not.
"Slowking...hm, I'm gonna need a better name for you soon, huh? Slowking, use...power gem? That seems like the way to go here. Use power gem on the silcoon." Adrian said, pointing at their sitting suck target. Poor little silcoon. It likely stood no chance as the slowking turned to face it, looking tall and imperious in comparison, arms behind its back, chin lifted. Then, suddenly, stones seemed to appear around the psychic type, glowing with bright, unnatural magic. Then they shot at the silcoon like darts, seeking out their target effortlessly. Adrian watched, alert, mentally making notes. "You are really strong, aren't you, bud. Hm. Gotta keep that noted for later..."

The little blue or turquois or lapis or cerulean gem on the Slowking's giant Shellder head glowed bright, and then blasted a powerful beam of light at the Silcoon. The bug type was blasted several feet back in the bright light, as the dark night was briefly illuminated by the attack. The Silcoon was knocked behind some bushes as it fell unconscious, and possibly returned to its home in the canopy with some silky string shot manipulations. Poor Zigzagoon had his battle sniped again by one of Adrian's Pokemon. If he could manipulate and channel his inner happiness into frustration for the battle, he could. Now, the night was quiet again, as the Zigzagoon would probably headbutt the cursed trees some more.

Zag thrashed and rolled and wailed in frustration. Whether through great fortune or misfortune, he could indeed not channel these emotions effectively. Adrian had not discovered the means to encourage that growth in pokemon, as he even relied on another trainer to help him evolve his cleffa when he realized that he had no idea how to make friendship improve in a significant way.
That was research best left for another day, he supposed.
Right now, he was focused on training them stronger, as that was all he knew how to do.
"Hey Zag, shhh, buddy, what's wrong? I thought you were having fun headbutting trees? You hurt yourself?" Adrian asked, crouching. Zag flopped and huffed and fluffed. If only he understood pokemon speech, then he would understand that his zigzagoon was rightfully distressed by losing all his hard earned battles to other pokemon. It just wasn't FAIR. "Oh, maybe you're startled by this new pokemon. This is...well...slowking. I need to think of a good name for him soon, but I caught him at the Paldea Festival in a strange wormhole, den thing. He's pretty intimidating, isn't he? But see, he's not that scary."
The Slowking looked bored as he looked around.
Zag groaned <I just wanna evolve!> And then back up and bashing into trees. C'mon! Give him something. Give him something so he could prove himself! He needed to show his trainer how strong and super awesome he was!!!

Perhaps the Zigzagoon had his wish granted, as after he had rammed into the tree, nothing fell to the ground instead. There was a brief silence as the usually expected "Thud" sound never came. The area was eerily quiet and chilly as the snow continued to fall. Then, suddenly something buzzed and zoomed toward the human and the Zigzagoon, and wherever the Litwick was. A towering armored Pokemon with a large horn on its appeared, and it looked really tough and ready to battle as it was closing in on the group! Adrian or his Pokemon better act fast or they would be tossed like crouton in a salad bowl as the Heracross darted forward prepared to push anything out of its way!

Thump!
What...was that thing!?
It was massive and scary and— Zag yipped and whirled, fleeing from the potential fight in terror. He wanted to be strong but okay this was too much for him! This wasn't a cascoon or a pineco or something about his size that he could fight on equal terms. This thing was huge and scary and big and awful.
<RUUUUUN!> he cried out. Adrian grabbed Zag and leapt to the side on instinct, hitting the grass in a roll to avoid the salad tossing threatened by that impressive horn.
He looked up to see Flicker rising high above the potential conflict, flame growing tall as she anticipated BURNING the bug to ash. However, it was the Slowking that stepped up to the fight. Unable to fly and not agile in the least, he had no choice but to stand his ground. So he held his hands in front of him, summoning psychic energies to try to divert the heracross and prevent it from harming the others.
With a huff, Flicker used the distraction to go rummage through Adrian's abandoned bag. There. Some pokeballs. Scoop. She knew what these did. She floated up high above the conflict again and when the timing was right...dropped one of the pokeballs she snatched. — OOC: 250 words
