Buzz rubbed his eyes with balled fists and stared up at Skye. His eyes were red and puffy from crying, his cheeks a bright red from screaming. But something beyond the despair seemed to sparkle in the corners of his eyes as he listened to the wiser, older man speak to him in a calming and reassuring voice. “I just don’t like Arceus plan at all! We played all the time around the creek and I miss it!” Buzz puffed out his cheeks and crossed his arms firmly over his chest. “Peace…and happiness…?” He blinked, trying to understand all the big analogies that Skye spoke about…some going over his head. Rattata scratched at the ground and huffed angrily through narrowed red eyes. Its whiskered twitched, ears folded against the sides of its head. What did this little bug know? It likely had all the food it could ever want provided for it. “You don’t understand!” Rattata growled loudly, charging forth. Blood boiled underneath its furry purple hide. The ends of its lips quivered, with large incisors that snapped as though foreshadowing what it might try to do to Hope. “It took me a long time to get all those berries! I don’t just have some human to feed me whenever my belly rumbles!”“You really think he hasn’t given up?” Buzz asked, gripping his bug catching net tightly in his hands. He stared at Skye through wide eyes that while once overcast with long, dark shadows, now shimmered brightly with the hope that Skye instilled in him. It was hard to trust this newfound hope. Hard to hold onto this feeling, as fleeting as it was, and to truly believe that there was something more that he could truly believe in. “I can’t give up hope if my friend won’t give up. That’s for sure! Momma says we gotta be strong for our friends…right?” He asked Skye, double-checking the personal belief shared within his own family. The two collided once more in a tangle of fur and flesh. The bounced across the ground with soft thuds that barely whispered where their bodies struck. Rattata’s back slammed against the base of an oak, rolled, and while gripping onto Hope’s sides, slammed her against the side of a small rock. In return Hope broke away temporarily, reared, and smacked her head up against Rattata’s stomach, knocking it over the same rock. “You just…*huff*…don’t give up….*HUFF*…do you?!” Rattata growled loudly. The worst part is, Skye can't blame the kid for feeling this way. When your friend is dying and the world feels so overwhelming, it's easy to blame a higher power out of helplessness and anger. Skye considers his response carefully; the kid is clearly sensitive right now, and this isn't a situation to take lightly. "Perhaps you could find other ways to bond with him that aren't as taxing," he suggests gently. "Like playing video games, reading books, or trying out board games together. I'm sure he'd appreciate the company."
As for his spiel, Buzz would probably have to ponder what achieving his happiness meant. The Rookie Trainer had faith that the kid could figure it out. A deep breath is taken, and he looked over to Buzz, making the biggest grin he manage to reassure the child even if he was bearing a lot of hard feelings right now. "No, he hasn't. He wants to see all the Vivillon colors so badly. The way he spoke about it, I know he's fighting with everything he has right now. That's why... I'll help him fulfil his dream; We can do it together!"
Hope didn't even have to win. Because Skye just needed Rattata weak enough for his next move...
"Keep up the pressure, Hope. Tackle again, we're almost there!"
--
Hope would want scratch his head in confusion, if he had long enough legs to do so. The anger that this Rattata felt so far from being understood that he didn't know how to help this creature, nor stop it from wanting to bite this kid. <"... Like........ You could find a Human, probably? I'unno..... Belly Rubs are pretty greaaat mannnnnnn........">
He didn't give up. Not when he was feeling the GROVE.
His little body picks up speed, racing forward for yet another rushing frontal assault. OOC: Notes:N/A Word Count: 305 Pokémon On-Hand:

Buzz tapped his chin with one finger thoughtfully. His eyes shimmered as though hope ignited in their gaze and caused them to sparkle as bright as a diamond’s edge. “We’ve always wanted to play Grant Theft Revavroom but momma says we’re a little too young…” He admitted glumly. Buzz couldn’t understand the reason for the age rating on some of his favorite games. He was mature enough to handle the content just fine! He stayed up late watching some of the most iconic movies like Nightmare on Route 23 and Roselia’s Baby! Rattata twitched its whiskers. This bug was quite a nuisance with its lackadaisical responses. It acted like every Pokemon wanted to be captured, or as though there was a home with a human for every single Pokemon out there. That just wasn’t logistically realistic and undermined the actual struggles that the furry purple rodent lived through on a constant, daily basis. “Fat chance you’ll ever see me as some stupid lap pet!” It snapped angrily, before raising itself on its haunches to lick its hands and clean its fur in anger. “And what about my sister?! And cousins?! And parents?! And best friends?! You got a home for everyone, since you’re so smart?! All 1,324 of us need a home RIGHT NOW full of food!” Buzz knew that Skye was right, though. Kent would never give up on his dreams no matter what. That was one of the things that his friend constantly talked about, and one of the reasons Buzz just had to travel and catch them all himself, as well. Skye seemed like a genuinely nice guy trying to help his friend out, which warmed Buzz’s heart. “I know we can do this! I believe it!” He piped up as the two Pokemon clashed against each other. Rattata’s sharp claws raked against Scatterbug’s sides and in retaliation, Hope slammed her body against Rattata’s legs and shoulders repeatedly. “There’s this book at the library called, The Path of Vivillon: A Tale of their Migratory Journey. Do you think that would be good to read with my friend?” He asked Skye curiously. But…would reading it only upset Kent instead? Skye had heard of that game before, but he was never really big on playing video games, either. He was inclined to agree with the Mother on this; violence to someone that young seemed a little too much to him. "Mmm...! Still, plenty of other things to do. You can play that one later, right?" he suggests to Buzz. Juggling his attention between the battle, talking to Buzz, and even watching his new Pokémon, Whisper, was challenging. A glance is made down at the Spearow who is observing the battle. He hoped to show her that it wasn't so bad, to ease her in. The Spearow was loafing around, with a somewhat somber look as she glanced around her surroundings. Her flock was gone; she had lost everything, and now she was with humans and tamed Pokémon.
Hope thought this particular Ratatta was lacking in chill, but that was because he didn't really understand those plights of theirs being owned by a Trainer for a long time. The hardest thing he's ever really had to do was battle, but even then he would get a good rest and food afterwards. "... That's a lotta Rats... Huh...." he says now with a tiredness to his tone. The battle was wearing him out.
The Trainer has decided Hope has had enough, and recalls the Caterpillar in a steady red beam to return it to the Pokéball. Hope does not struggle against this, he could use a good rest. "Alright that's some combat experience for Hope..." he glances towards Whisper with a curious look. "Hey, girl. Did you wanna try a little battle, maybe? No pressure though, okay?" he speaks softly to the creature. Whisper will look up at her owner, and give a little shake of her head, before standing up and adjusting to sit down and face another way. They were not in the mood for battle, not after facing such an ordeal and rejection from her flock.
"That's okay, then." Skye murmurs.
By now, he hopes that Sunny has had enough rest to finish this off, he will have to take a couple hits with what he has planned. The orb clicks open, and the Bulbasaur is sent out. But Skye wasn't finished here, he reveals an item from his bag. A Cyan-Colored orb with a rather cartoonish face, he tosses the object towards the weakened rat to scare the BAJESUS out of them, hoping it would bring out another Pokémon to aid them!

The boy pondered for a moment, glancing at Skye, then at the grass beneath his feet, before turning his gaze to a random tree in the distance. " I... I guess." he said with a pout. " I just wish to play it with Kent. And I don't know if..." Buzz paused, the painful words refusing to leave his throat. Everything seemed to circle back to uncertainty; what if they didn't have much time left? What if Kent won't make it until they were both old enough? Tears welled in his eyes once again. It was all so unfair! Rattata ruffled its tail. After all that talk earlier, suddenly Meowth got the Scatterbug's tongue! " Go figure! You human pets are all high and mighty, but when it comes to finding solutions, you're all useless! Phew!" the rodent ran towards Hope, but as it was about to attack, he switched! In his place appeared this plant-like toad. Unable to gracefully come to a stop, the rodent made a rather wonky u-turn, smacking Sunny across its face with its tail before retreating. " He ran?! Seriously?! Bah! I'll beat all of you up, then!" the purple rodent squeaked with annoyance, preparing for another attack, when suddenly... BOOM! A deafening explosion and a blinding flash, all within a millisecond! The Rattata jumped at least six feet in the air, terrified! Blinded and disoriented, it ran in circles. " WHAT WAS THAT? WHAT WAS THAT?! HELP, HELP!" it screamed. Buzz watched the scene unfold, mouth agape. " Whoa! Was that an Adrenaline Orb? That was so cool!" he exclaimed, smiling for the first time since he and the trainer met, shaking his fists in excitement. He'd read about the item, but had never seen it used! And, being a kid, noisy things were always the coolest. As Rattata ran and screeched for its life, another low chatter could be heard in the grass nearby. " Who's making all that noise? Whippersnappers!" With all the time in the world, an elder Rattata, a Grandttata, waddled onto the scene, with crooked whiskers, greying fur, and a tired gaze. " Stop running around like a fool! You look ridiculous!" Despite its sluggishness, Grandttata managed to stomp on the younger rodent's tail at the perfect moment, halting its movements. " It's them, Grandttata! The human and its pet! They stomped on our berries and then threw something LOUD!" the pitiful purple Pokémon pointed in their direction with its paw. Grandttata's gaze turned into a serious glare. " Oh, why I oughtta!" Grandttata growled. " Wasting our food and causing us a disturbance! Back in my day, elders were respected! Insolent brats! Have at you, hooligans!" Skye winced at the sight of Buzz's tears, regretting his earlier question. Consoling the child proved to be a challenge, especially with the battle raging around them. Bulbasaur was now out in the fray, and he takes a rather nasty hit, one that probably would've finished off Scatterbug. He's glad that he trusted his instinct when it came to his Pokémon needing rest. His first use of Adrenaline Orb brought surprises, he didn't expect it to be //SO// loud, but that must be what would make them cry out for help in the first place. Now things are getting more complicated, a second rat appeared, this one looking older than the first. "Ahhh... Another one? I was hoping for something else, ah well..." he murmurs. Glancing the new rat up and down.
"Mhm.. I was trying to get a new friend to come to us... Didn't work, though. An elderly Rattata could be quite rare.... It might offer a unique opportunity for study," he murmured to himself, contemplating his options. Despite having already scanned the previous, younger Rattata with his Pokédex, he decided to scan the new one as well, hoping to gather additional data.
Sunny was a bit groggy from trying to rest, he's snapping awake. The moment he has opened his eyes he is being attacked by a younger rat and yelled at by his Elder, <".. I.. I just got here... What the heck???"> he grumbled in confusion. His Trainer had really gotten into the thick out of it with not one, but TWO foes after him. Regardless, it was duty to protect Skye, he takes up a battle stance, ready for orders.
Skye will point at the stronger of the two Ratatta, "Attack the older ratty, Sunny. Vine Whip!"
For one, he wasn't dealing with BIRDS, so this attack should actually be effective for once... OOC: Notes:N/A Word Count: 309 Pokémon On-Hand:

Buzz blinked and stared off through the nearby trees. What else was out here that Skye was trying to attract? He’d heard of the rare red bears that roamed the forest around them, though Buzz had only caught glimpses of them in the past. He didn’t know too many people who went out of their way to try to find them though…could that be it? “Like what? Spearow…or something rarer?” Buzz asked, his voice full of curiosity. His readings on the orbs suggested that they could attract Pokemon never seen in the area, as though these illusive creatures only appeared when they heard the telltale flash and bang of the orbs, though. The elderly rat stared at Sunny with a firm glare. Of course, this little one had no idea what was going on. A simple house pet from the moment it hatched, it just stomped about and caused a ruckus wherever its trainer decided they should. It’s ignorance was no excuse for its behavior, though. “Just because you seem to not understand the gravity of what you’ve done…” Granttata wheezed, thrashing his tail about from side to side. “Doesn’t mean you get off the hook Scot-Free for the trouble you and your trainer have caused.” He hissed, twitching his whiskers feverously. The younger purple rodent zipped off the ground at the speed of light and slammed into Sunny’s side, nearly knocking them both over to roll through the tall emerald blades of grass. It just couldn’t stand all these strangers who didn’t even seem to care about their plight! “We’re going to starve when winter comes at this rate! How will the colony survive with most of our food smashed to bits!” Grandttata turned a serious and firm eye on its younger rat friend. “Now you hush up all that ugly noise, young one. Remember what I always say in times like this.” It snapped, running over to slap Sunny several times with its tail. “We’ll see?” The orbed Rattata sniffled, as Grandtatta yelped from Sunny’s strong vines whipping it about. Skye winced as he watched his Bulbasaur enduring some rough-looking hits, realizing only now the greater risks involved in using the Adrenaline Orb. He now acknowledges that he might need more experience and a few more Pokémon under his belt before attempting it again, as the situation was beginning to look precarious. He unsure if Bulbasaur could withstand a bit more damage, he it seemed a bit risky, and the thought of hurting them further was weighing on his mind.
To Buzz's question he gives a small shrug, "Just something different, it doesn't have to be rare. I just want to fill up my Pokédex. I hear that using these things can sometimes get you something nice, though. It'll be nice to check something off the list... Also, I already have Whisper! She's all the Spearow I need!"
The Spearow heard the chatter about her species along with her given name, causing her to glance over at Skye. Standing up, she performs a little stretch of her limbs. Her mood is absolutely sullen, with most of her thoughts pondering the life she now leads. Her gaze focuses on the Bulbasaur she was fighting, feeling a pang of guilt for not emerging victorious in their battle. The Bulbasaur seemed deeply engaged in the fight, yet she didn't yearn for it herself, yet she found herself curious. Why did they fight so hard for their Trainer?
Sunny didn't know exactly what his Trainer had gotten himself into, but nonetheless, he was already fighting and he will continue to do so. They jump back onto their feet after taking that serious hit, grunting while standing up. <"I cannot allow you to bring harm to my Trainer, Elder Rat...">
"Vine Whip on the Younger One!" Skye makes his choice, the Elder Rattata had an interesting personality worthy of study, anyway.
The order is given, and thus he wil attempt to grow and flick his vines and continue his assault on the Grandttata. And, should the younger Rattata fall he will prepare a Pokéball and toss it towards the Grandttata! The younger Rattata and the older Rattata felt the threat of the human trainer! A naive threat born from innocence! They didn't need to explicitly know what the kid was up to, just know that if they didn't stop the kid, he'd just rip them from their homes! [ 'Youngun, hit 'em haaaard and fast!'] Ratta-tat-tata'd out the elder rattata, crimson energy surrounding its body as it began to gather energy from its surroundings into its body. Meanwhile the Younger Rattata turned into a speeding dart of light that struggled at all costs in order to resist the Bulbasaur, bashing its skull against Sunny's with all of its might, with enough force that Sunny barely would have been able to hang onto consciousness, and likely leave it with a sore reminder of the desperation of Rattata kind! Of course, the vines that reached out for the young Rattata would catch it and send it flying, landing on the ground roughly and unable to continue to battle. [ 'Youngun!'] called out the elder, just brief seconds before a Pokeball smacked him right in its forehead. Alas, the elder was unprepared for the Pokeball, and its body converted into red light before swirling about and into the Pokeball. The ball wiggled and jiggled, refusing to give up before it eventually came to a rest with a loud clicking noise and a tune to indicate a successful capture. "Ah I see. Why not more though? Then you can have a whole flock of them and they could, I dunno, carry you around in a spearow-carried chair! That sounds fun!" replied Buzz with interest in the idea. "I could do such with a whooole hoard of Vivillion! Kent would probably love that!" -Summary- Orbedtatta used Quick Attack (10 Damage) Sunny used Vine Whip (KO's regardless of roll) Eldertatta used Focus Energy Skye threw a Pokeball! It might have been wiser to choose the younger of the two Rattata, but something about the elder intrigued him. What sort of life had it led? Could an older Pokémon offer young Skye some wisdom? Was there any research on how Pokémon aged?
Skye's mind was brimming with curiosity about the Pokémon world, and he knew he wouldn't get anywhere by standing idly by. Perhaps the older Rattata could enjoy some retirement and pampering in its golden years alongside its new trainer.
As planned, the youngest Rattata fell, and he hurled the Pokéball towards the older one. Hearing it call out for its companion tugged at his heartstrings, but they were only knocked out, able to live another day. Buzz's safety was now secured. He watched the orb shake and shake and shake, his heart skipping a beat as the older rat put up an impressive fight... But it finally clicked shut, and he sighed with relief. The rush that came with capturing a new friend had not faded, and he stepped towards the ball, grabbing it and placing it into his bag.
A red beam triggers, returning Bulbasaur to its containment as Skye ponders Buzz's question. Eventually, he shakes his head at them. "Maybe if I wanted to research Spearow more I could, but I don't need any more of them. Plus, I don't want Whisper to feel like she could be replaced. She's... quite fragile right now," he murmurs while looking over at the bird, who was loafing and facing away as she sulked about her predicament. He kneels near them, giving them a couple of pats onto the head. "I'm sorry you're going through it right now. I do not know how they mocked you, as I can't fully understand their language, but I'm with you now, okay?" he tries to console the Spearow, who gingerly responds to the pats with some soft nips and pushes from their beak. They weren't really amused by his attempts to console. To get away, she takes flight and lands on his hand to loaf there. She was stuck with him, but she didn't have to enjoy it.
"Alright then... You can rest there all you want!" he chuckles and slowly comes to a stand, grinning at Buzz, "You're safe now, bud. Let your Pokémon get some good rest before you head out again, okay? Do you need me to walk you anywhere?" he asked.
If so, Skye will gladly walk him to the closet safe area where he can rest, be that home in New Bark Town or closer to Cherrygrove City. OOC: Notes: For Sunny (Bulbasaur) replace Growl with Leech Seed, please!

"Congratulations on another capture!" Buzz said as the Pokemon went into the Ball. It was always amazing seeing a trainer succeed at capturing. It wasn't a scene he saw often, especially when they weren't rivals for a capture.
"Hm. I'm no expert as I'm a bug catcher. But maybe just letting it beat another Flying-type will let it feel better?" Buzz posited towards Skye. "I mean, whatever happened, usually a good victory makes me feel better! Show it how to win!"
Eventually, comes the time of parting. Buzz looks at Skye with a smile, a divergence from how they met. He seemed more positive and energetic now! They stood at the entrance of the city as Buzz nodded with a beaming smile.
"Thank you so much. I'll do just that. And maybe we'll meet again someday! And I'll amaze you with my amazing Bug-types!" He threw a playful punch into the air, a promise to look cool like any kid would. After a short pause he's grin and laugh, running off and returning to the Pokemon center.
About a minute later as she continued on, another trainer would approach. Quickly said trainer would notice she had Pokeballs, and would stop before her. He was a youth, not even a teen yet. Yet he had a fierce look on his face.
"Hey, wait right there." He stated, approaching with the smarmiest smirk he could as he stopped and pointed towards Skye.
"You look strong. I challenge you." said the trainer as he looked at Skye with a focused gaze.
Rival Silver has challenged you!
Without even giving a chance for a reply he pulled his hand down, pulling a Pokeball free from his hip and enlarging the device before tossing it out, the ball popping open and revealing a certain peach and dark-blue rodent that with a 'Quil' burst its back into flames.
========================================
Silver has challenged you and brought out a level 10 Cyndaquil!

Skye now checks his Pokédex, scanning the new ball he had just gotten to check the information of the Grandpappy Rattata he had obtained, it's extra years seemed to have earned it extra levels and moves. Experience over youth was chosen, and maybe this could be used to his advantage. He admired his catch and smiled, more data was collected and he was off to a great start.
The young adult walked with Buzz, ensuring they reached the Pokémon Center safely without any encounters. The entire time, Spearow roosted on his head, comfortably pouting. Skye kept his eyes peeled, feeling a bit on edge after the recent stress. He needed a break soon.
"Hmm... Maybe...? I don't want to make her battle, though, y'know? Not until she feels comfortable."
Skye glanced upward, even though he couldn't see Whisper from that angle. "I wish I could make her happy," he said aloud. "Hey, Whisper?"
Whisper squawked curiously, but weakly in response.
"Would beating another bird make you happy?"
The Trainer is met with silence to his question, she wouldn't even bother to answer him in this moment. This made Skye frown, he truly wanted Whisper to be his friend, but now he is learning that Pokémon were rich with personality, and not all of them were willing to accept Human's right off the bat like Bulbasaur was. He waved Buzz off and was ready to head right into Cherrygrove City himself, until...
An encounter with a Trainer?!
As soon as this red head called upon him, the boy would turn around curiously to face him, widening his eyes as he gazed upon him. This boy was much younger than him and yet there was a chill crawling up his spine. Something about his gaze was intimidating, despite the difference in age. Something that wiped his confident facade right off him.
"Uh, h-hello--" he stammered, barely getting a word in before the capsule popped open. He found himself staring down one of the original Johto starters, one he hadn't been able to get due to the shortage at Elm's lab. "Oooh..." he murmured, curiously pulling out his Pokédex and pointing the camera at it to collect information right away. The Cyndaquil looked particularly strong, too at first glance.
Skye gulped. He wasn't given much of a chance to reject, nor had he ever battled a Trainer before. It didn't seem like he had much of a choice...
The matchup wasn't ideal for most of his team, but he selected a Pokéball and tossed it out. "Aries!" he called. A flamboyant, rose-colored cat with a heart-shaped tail appeared. Seeing it for the first time in person made his eyes widen with excitement. This cat was very cute and fluffy—just what he had hoped for!
"Oooh... I love them... Okay... Aries, get ready!"
The Cat turned to their Trainer and nodded, this Pokémon was much more agreeable and excitable, stretching her limbs out as she waddled to face the rodent before her, she had the smuggest of grins by default, and she was feeling quite confident in this battle.
Cyndaquil would likely be faster, but...
"Use Fake Out!" Skye shouted, trying to get the jump on what looked like a Formidable opponent. OOC: Notes:My Bulbasaur got updated wrong by accident it seems, I asked for Growl to be replaced with Leech Seed and instead Growth got deleted :c
Could you please fix it?

"Well well the second rate trainer at least knows battling manners." He noted as the trainer threw his Pokeball. What awaited him was an oddly colored Skitty. "Hah.. ate a few too many Pink Berries I see."[/b] He taunted about its color. But his bravado was quickly cut off as his opponent declared Fake Out, watching the cat leap forwards and clap, the shock enough to cause his Cyndaquil to stagger backwards. He tsked as he clenched his fist, his plans already thoroughly derailed for this first attack. "And seems you at least know something about attacks.."Here he had expected a strong but easy opponent. No, they still were easy. It was a Skitty afterall. Nothing that pathetic around here should be able to beat him. "Regardless this match will go to me!" Skye was rather nervous, but managed to grin a little at Silver's response, and even his taunt towards his Pokémon. The red head kid felt intense, but something about the way he carried himself felt so ... //interesting// to the Rookie Trainer. His strength and confidence was evident, but why was that so?
"She's a Lovey Dovey Skitty, isn't she great~?" he beams happily in response, taking him back a bit with his very sudden strike did feel good, derailing Cyndaquil's first attack with a move knew how to use by watching his Father battle sometimes. Being the chatter back, he's happy to respond, even during the battle.
"Heh... My Dad was a Competitive Battler, so I picked up a few things!" "I won't make it easy for you, though!"
The smack talk already reminded him of home, the sibling rivalry he felt when he was younger was making him want to step up and fight harder as his face became a bit more serious. Skitty might not win this round, but he had an idea for this battle. A way he could set up another Pokémon for victory, because a fire-type was very poor match up for him in this moment.

"Stop screwing around!" Silver responded as he swung his arm down to his side and took a half step forwards. "Your backstory don't matter to me. All you are is experience for Cyndaquil. Cyndaquil, use Ember!"Silver had a soft smirk as Cyndaquil unleashed a fireball no bigger than a fist from its mouth with a prideful 'CYN!'. The Fireball traversed and would catch the Skitty, blasting it with sufficient power that would show this was more than a small gap between the two pokemon. Only for this guy to once again treat this almost like a joke. He could feel his blood boil in the agitation. He could only stand there in frustration as the Skitty leaped forwards and began tickling his Cyndaquil, making it roll in laughter. They had to be messing with him. His generosity was running out and quickly.
