 ZAIDEN KABILA Aspiring Champion

Soft brown eyes stared at the fields with a wide, curious expression. He'd spent so many of these events hunting for the best bugs. He caught many cool Pokemon, but also had a few that chased him about. This time, Zaiden decided to bring a Pokemon not especially known to be super effective against the critters he expected to find in the grass. Like the last events Zaiden joined in, this one was as crowded as they could reasonably manage to make it. Went did these things need more people than Pokemon? Ugh! That was nerve wrecking!
He needed to only focus on his own hunt. Zaiden gently slapped the side of his face and shook it vigorously. He had to get his head in the game! What use would it be to stress over the over competitors? Of course they were as eager to sign up for the sport as he was! It was foolish of Zaiden to think any differently, to be honest. He shuffled carefully through the long blades of grass, eyes anxiously searching between them for anything at all. What might be lurking for him? Whatever it was, hopefully it would be anything other than those pesky Beedrill!

Zaiden paused as something stirred in the grass. A small blue lightning bug crawled out with her hands on her hips. She pouted and gave Zaiden the dirtiest look he had ever seen. Her favorite patch of grass had been stepped on! And the mean culprit was standing right there on them still! She growled loudly, gesturing to the grass with one hand, and tapped her foot on the ground with the other. Clearly, someone owed her an apology!
Zaiden backed up and gulped. Oops! Mandoru stepped out quietly with a devious glint in his eyes. This would be so much fun! Zaiden snapped his fingers, getting the golden tapir's attention, and signaled a ball of gas followed by a battering ram. What, no!! He wanted to put this big to sleep, not just ram it with his head and poison it!
Mandoru huffed underneath his breath. This was harassment at its finest! Reluctantly, he released a thick cloud of toxic fumes and pushed it towards Illumise. Then, Mandoru would lower his head and fold his ears instinctively closer to his scalp. Watch out little one, here I come!
OOC: Mandoru uses Poison Gas & follows with Headbutt. (Also speed looks off on both Pokemon though Illumise is faster)

"Don't you understand how something that's important to someone else should be respected?" The small lightning bug huffed. She narrowed her eyes angrily as she kept her gaze firmly on Mandoru. The poisons from his attack bled into her lungs, causing her to caught uncontrollably. "Someone should smash up everything that's important to you, so you can feel what I feel!"
Then Mandoru slammed his head into Illumise, knocking the bug senseless. That was it! She had enough of his asinine attitude! Illumise zipped over and chomped on the golden tapir's leg, then spun around and smacked him in the face quickly. Take that, you heathen!
Mandoru only blinked in response. He turned to Zaiden, who signaled to stand still for a moment. Zaiden pulled out a small Sport Ball and chucked it at Illumise while quietly biting his bottom lip. Please work! If it failed, he stood ready to use one of his Super Potions on Mandoru.
OOC: Using a Sport Ball. If that fails, then using Super Potion.

Illumise proved to be a troublesome bug. She plucked the mangled blades of grass up in her tiny hands and shoved them into the air. "Take a nice, long look at what you've done!" She screamed indignantly at Zaiden. The boy didn't even seem a little phased by the damage he's caused. It infuriated her!
Then she had a light bulb go off in her head. What if she tried to woo them to keep them away? Illumise batted her pretty little eyes and cupped her fingers together. "Won't you try to be nicer, Mr. BIG STRONG HANDSOME Drowzee?!" Who would turn down such charm?
She easily hopped out of the next ball tossed at her and growled angrily. No means no! Zaiden, undeterred by the small bug, scooped another sport ball into his hand. He just needed to land the right throw... that's all! He tossed it at her hopefully, fingers crossed it would work.

Zaiden quietly blinked as he stared at the small ball on the ground. It managed to capture that pesky bug who put up one heck of a fight. He walked over and quickly scooped his new prize in his hands. If nothing else, at least he'd have a bug to show for all his efforts within the park. But was there something substantially more valuable lurking in the grass? Zaiden wanted to find something unique, that he could add to his collection, after all. Illumise were Pokemon he was already well aware of.
When he glanced up at all the other trainers in the grass, Zaiden's eyes sparkled in amazement. Some trainers were finding the fiery little centipedes already?! And another found a rather unique looking beetle with what looked like glasses?! Two of them were found, while one seemed to shine brightly under the summer sun's light. Professor Oak was even out here, shuffling through the grass with them as well. Was he doing field research?
Zaiden had to stay focus, though. He needed to see what else he'd be able to find within the tall grasses. Before that, though...Zaiden turned to Mandoru and popped a small Pecha Berry in Mandoru's mouth. "There you go." He smiled with a soft nod. "You should feel a lot better now, huh?" He blinked and smiled when Mandoru shyly shook his head. The golden tapir just wanted yummy dreams to eat and someone out here had to have some...somewhere...

Something stirred in the grass and caught Zaiden's attention. He paused, eyes blinking profusely as he stared quietly. Long emerald blades danced in the summer breeze, a hidden mystery slowly waddling between them. Slowly but surely, a small pink shell with a grey shell slipped out and huffs at them. What was with these humans, all out and about like they owned the place?! Some bugs were trying to sleep! Definitely can't do that with these noisy things gallivanting about!
Mandoru slipped in front and flexed his arms in anticipation. This would be exciting for sure! The golden tapir gave his mousy brown haired trainer a quick glance, hoping that Zaiden wouldn't interfere with his plans. This one looked like a real talker! If only he count convince it to take a quick nap... Mandoru raised both hands and waved them in the air, unleashing intricate spirals hoping to hypnotize his opponent. Come on, now, just a little sleep...Shh...Shh... yes, just like that. Please don't fight it...
OOC: I am an idiot sandwich and running on so little sleep then. XD Thanks Lamont for fixing my own goof! I'll use HYPNSOSIS and pray it hit.

Mandoru thankfully managed to put the small bug to sleep. It closed its hard shell up tight and slumbered peacefully. The golden tapir appeared in Shelmet's dreams with a strange smile as it sat down in the dream-grass. "This is a nice place." Mandoru gestured to the large lake surrounded by vibrant magnolias and sweeping willows. "Is this a place you know of in your personal life?" The golden tapir asked curiously, waving it's long nostril up in the air with a powerful sniff.
Shelmet sighed softly and nodded. It glanced at the waterfall that cascaded over the sharp rocks towering over them to form a steep ledge. "This is where I was born." The pink snail explained. It had been scooped up for some strange event that even the Shelmet didn't fully understand. Why couldn't it be left alone? Why did it have to go with these stupid humans to this faraway place now? It just wanted to be left alone! "I really want to go back!" Mandoru hummed, scratching the bottom of his chin thoughtfully. What a strange conundrum. "Perhaps... one day you will." Shelmet blinked in confusion. "What does that mean? How can you know?" Mandoru just shrugged. "It means we'll see."
Meanwhile, Zaiden pulled a couple spare Sport Balls and tossed them with fingers crossed.

A soft breeze sifted gently through the tall grasses and caused them to dance in the wind. Zaiden’s rich earthen-colored eyes turned to the other contestants out in the field and quietly observed them. There was a young girl with beautiful ebony hues reminiscent of calla lilies battling against a striking fiery red centipede with flames for whiskers. Beside her was a small poisonous dart frog with bright blue skin and thick white stripes around its midsection. Zaiden was aware of the Croagunk, having one himself who fancied rocks a little too much at times. Was hers as difficult to manage as his was? Zaiden wondered quietly to himself.
He turned to the tall grasses wrapped around the large fountain on either side. While one side allowed the grass to grow up to your knees, the other side kept their trimmed to a shorter and more pristine appearance. Shuffling about in the grass near the large fountain whose large waterspouts created quite the scenic overview was an older man dressed in a large scientist’s coat. He had dark brown eyes and a head full of greying hair that gave away his age. Beside him was a bumbling frog-like plant Pokemon with a large red bulb on its back, facing off against a steel grey grasshopper sitting on the lip of the fountain. Professor Oak was an icon, however, and it took nothing for Zaiden to recall who he was.
What brought the professor out here amid the contest? Was he also competing against the other trainers? Zaiden’s eyes widened as his heart skipped a beat, hands trembling in silence. How could any of them hope to compete against such a competent competitor? Professor Oak was well known for his Pokemon research, even if you weren’t the type of person to busy yourself with all the technical details. Zaiden, while as enthusiastic as he was and as enamored with nature itself as he was, wasn’t someone who busied himself under the piles of scientific research like he presumed Professor Oak would do.
Still, their time within the contest wasn’t over with quite yet. They only managed to see two bugs. Surely there were more critters that crawled through the dense emerald blades! Some parents walked along the paved portions and watched the trainers duking against these wild insects with ease. When a young girl with a thick bodied hippopotamus caused a sandstorm to brew within one section of the National Park, all the casual onlookers immediately shuffled away while covering their mouths and complaining underneath their breaths. Who would do such a thing with no consideration at all for others?! They pulled on the small, chubby hands of toddlers and hurried them back through the double doors of the main building.
With quiet and quick deliberation, Zaiden clicked the button on Illumise’s Sports Ball and released her back into the wild. The small blue lightning bug appeared in a burst of bright red light and stood momentarily stunned, blinking profusely. Was she…was she free to go about her normal life? Illumise immediately ran through the tall grasses and disappeared within a single blink of an eye. Zaiden laughed, then turned to the newly acquired snail. He snatched Shelmet’s ball up in his hands and gestured towards the tall grasses once more, as some of the other contestants shuffled through the same double doors, evidently finished with their hunt. Even Shinya – a friend Zaiden made during his time stranded on a deserted island and who Zaiden questions if the other boy remembered him – pushed his way through those same doors as he finished his time out in the tall grasses.
What would await them next?
