A soft stirring occurred between the tangled webwork of emerald grasses, causing them to buck and sway in erratic patterns. Some folded over and collapsed upon themselves, swirling slowly back towards the dusty earthen ground they shot out of, whilst many merely bent slightly, giving way to the strange creature. Two small golden antennas pushed between the sea of green and wiggled, feeling the gentle breeze whilst listening in to the strange sounds that carried on in a cacophony around them. Slowly a soft blue head emerged covered in thick, shaggy purple ‘hair-like’ fuzz.
Bright ocean blue irises spun in their sockets as the small bug’s eyes danced around the area quietly. Several trainers shuffled in the tall grasses, each in hot pursuit of the one bug to rule them all with no guarantee of finding anything substantially worthwhile. Zaiden chortled, bucking his head back a bit whilst his rich chocolate hues sized up the small lightning bug that pushed her way through the thicket of grass. He’d already bested one such creature previously using a carefully tossed ball and the heart-wrenching struggles of an ongoing match. What would another prove beyond the competitive need to showcase a wholly not unique skill of clicking a centrally located button on the small, spherical devices.
Mandoru hopped out center stage, two thick golden paws with three clawed fingers on each poised in the air. His strange pale eyes stared at her quietly, their beady black hues hiding a world of conversation behind their depths. Illumise seemed to be searching, small black hand pressed to the bottom of her chin with her head tossed in different directions. She looked past them entirely, shying just far enough away that perhaps they would avoid her and continue their trek in kind to another spot full of potentially better, stronger bugs. The large two-toned tapir lifted his nose and sniffed, pulling in a medley of scents through his long trunk as he wiggled it in the air.
“Mandoru, we really don’t need…” The word froze in their place on the tip of Zaiden’s tongue. His warm chocolate hues darkened into a muddied brown reflection as he studied the golden tapir whose lower half was awash of mud-brown hues as though Mandoru wallowed in the stuff before stepping onto the battlefield. There was a strange sense of longing, pained by the possibility of being pulled swiftly away, inside of Mandoru’s gaze. Relenting, Zaiden sighed and nodded quietly towards their opponent. “A quick conversation…alright? There might be something better in the grass still.” He hummed softly, gaze redirected to the sea of emerald blades that swayed in the wind, dancing to the beat of their own drums.
Mandoru nodded and waved his two chubby golden arms up and down in a hypnotic trance. Large spirals spun in the air in front of the golden tapir and floated towards Illumise, hoping to lure her into a gentle lullaby where she could sleep off this strange search. Mandoru stayed determined in focused, eyes never wavering from their target even as stray bits of sand swirled in their direction from the previous fight a wild hippopotamus was putting up against another bug. Sleep, dear friend, and dream. Then we can understand each other so much better! Mandoru thought quietly to himself. Shyness kept him at bay, stealing the breath from his lungs so that he could not speak whilst both of them remained wide awake on the field. Perhaps then, I can learn about whatever it is that you’re searching for. A long lost lover, perhaps, or family member? The thoughts hummed quietly away inside of his mind.

Diminutive translucent wings unfolded behind the pale blue bug’s back and fluttered in the gentle breeze. They tested the winds carefully, flapping with a soft buzz that illuminated the air, and slowly lifted Illumise’s body up into the air with careful consideration. She hovered a short distance in the air, fluttering closer to the strange tapir whose elongated snout sifted through scents in the air with quiet cogitation. “What a strong snout you have! How many things can you smell with such a trunk? Can you smell sound itself?” She pondered aloud, large sea blue eyes like an ocean caught in a storm staring deeply into Mandoru’s beady eyes.
The golden tapir snorted; thick hooved feet staggered at bit through the emerald blades of grass that tickled his legs. Such a question seemed a strange sort of pondering from such a tiny bug. The words echoed inside of Mandoru’s thick cranium, digging at him from inside, though he shied quietly away from communication. Those same strange waves he’d lifted and used to try and slowly lure the wild bug into sleepy slumber merely bounced off the concrete structure of the large fountain juxtaposed centrally within the park. He could smell many things and with ease, having many olfactory receptors built into his trunk-like snout that would put many other species to shame.
These were thoughts that couldn’t be easily elaborated upon. “Don’t tell me that the Persian’s got you tongue?! You’re like a fresh burst of rain for the withered crops on a hot summer’s day. I could drink you up and then some, if you’d let me.” The words tumbled from the bright blue insect’s lips as she layered the thick words encoded with their hidden message rather thick. It seemed to work for a moment, causing the young Drowzee to stagger a bit and turn his attention away from her if only briefly as he regained the moment within himself. What could he say when she refused to surrender to a sweet and restful slumber? He merely shook his head quietly, sharpened claws gently scratching his own side through his short yet dense fur.
Zaiden hummed softly to himself, those warm cocoa-hued irises dancing around the battle as they searched for simple solutions. The battles waged in the thick grasses at all sides, with many trainers shuffling quickly in their haste to find the best bug among the heap to claim for themselves. But most were now turning on their heels it seemed and marching back to the front of the building. They didn’t need another lightning bug. He could easily pull the large mammalian Pokemon he traveled with away from Illumise in their search for bigger and better, though the experience garnered from the exchange between the two would surely be lost.
So, what should Zaiden do in the moment? “Try it again, Mandoru.” Zaiden cupped his hands around his mouth and spoke up albeit with a shaky tone as some of the spectators turned their attention upon him and his Drowzee. Attention was not something he wanted gathered around him, even if they cheered him on with small children even clapping enthusiastically and shouting words of encouragement to Mandoru promising the golden tapir that he was more than capable enough to handle this small bug. Mandoru nodded his head thoughtfully and began waving his arms in the air once more, hoping this time he might manage to lure the small bug into a nice, long nap so that he could answer Illumise’s questions and then some from within her dreams. He just wasn’t interested in such things in the living, fully awake world.

The small blue lightning bug slowly drifted off to sleep, causing Mandoru to smile. He’d managed to lull the bug off into a dream-like state, which would make communication much easier. Mandoru waved his thick arms in the air, causing strange soundwaves to appear all around them and leak inside of Illumise’s head, where he could hopefully speak to the bug more privately. “Hello, little one.” The psychic tapir greeted in the dreamworld of Illumise’s mind.
Illumise blinked inside of its dream before screaming loudly, though in the waking world it only came out as snores. Was this Pokemon serious?! It already tormented her in the waking world, why was Mandoru following her into her dreamworld?! The trees were vibrant in her sleeping state. Flowers the size of skyscrapers bloomed all around them, carrying with them a sickly-sweet scent that couldn’t be refused. “He-hello there…Please just leave me alone?” She seemingly begged Mandoru, who blinked profusely. “You’ve got it all wrong!” He promised, with a wave of one clawed paw. “I only wanted to get to know you better!”
Zaiden, thinking quickly, scooped up a Sports Ball and chucked it at Illumise with his fingers crossed. He didn’t want her, but he knew that time was slowly running out for them. How much longer did they have? Minutes, if he were lucky? Hopefully hours yet, still! But it was impossible to tell and some of the bugs seemed to be scurrying out of the grass in a hurry to get away from the trainers that remained. Besides, what if there was something better waiting for them in the thick grass? He needed to hurry this encounter along if he hoped to find anything else in time.
OOC: (1) Mandoru uses Confusion THEN (2) Zaiden uses Sports Ball! Mandoru is holding Lucky Egg if successful! I DO NOT WANT TO KEEP ILLUMISE IF SUCCESSFUL so I will be choosing to KEEP SHELMET AND FREE ILLUMISE if capture is successful. ^^

Zaiden blinker profusely as a small cicada crawled up to him and chirped loudly. He bent down, placing both hands on his knees, and tried his best to understand the little guy. It seemed to approve of Zaiden's actions when he chose to free the Illumise back to the wild that she had just came from? He nodded quietly with a wide smile and dug around in his bag for some plain blackberries that he placed on the ground in front of the wild cicada, then nodded and pointed to try to help it understand. "You can have that." He stated with a wide smile.
They needed to see what was left in the tall grasses. The announcer screamed over the speakerphone that they had only minutes left of the event, causing Zaiden's eyes to widen with worry. Was the event already so close to the end? Where had all the time gone?! He shuffled through the tall green grasses in a hurry, hoping to spook up their next encounter. Shelmet really wasn't a bad prize to walk away with, but could there possibly be something better in the grass? He just needed to see before the time got away from him!

Zaiden watched the small little grub crawl out of the ground. He was eager to take the wild Pokemon on in battle. They were running out of time, after all. Though, Zaiden already owned one of these before. Though, before he could react to the small grub, the bell rang, signaling everyone to go back inside at once. What? It was over with already?! He didn’t even get to finish this last battle properly! Zaiden’s eyes widened in annoyance. He turned and rushed to the double doors where the judges would gather with the other contestants.
In one hand, Zaiden kept the Shelmet he previously caught clutched close to his chest. He’d yet to see such a cool looking Pokemon in this area before. Even though Zaiden hadn’t quite worked his way to Goldenrod to check out the National Park during their off season event hours, he somehow doubted that they were native to the surrounding landscape. So was this Pokemon particularly rare? How cool would that be, if so! Zaiden would just have to wait with bated breath and see what the judges ended up saying in the end.
OOC: I'd really like to just run from this encounter seeing as it doesn't do anything for Mandoru. ^^ And closing the topic.
