Crow arrived just in time for the famous Johto Bug Catching Contest. While not a big fan of Bug-types, he wouldn't turn down an opportunity to catch more Pokemon and win prizes. Signing in at the reception, he was asked to deposit all Pokemon but one. He pondered his choice - Typhoon was risky, as he would sooner murder all worms they'd come across, similarly with Dart. His thoughts turned to Breeze - she was the most feisty bird he'd met, and not in a good way. She opposed him at every step, no matter what he did. Normally, he wouldn't bother with such Pokemon and move on, but she was the first Pokemon he caught on Johto soil. He had something to prove... whatever it was.
Contestants were eventually let into the park with their partners, rules were explained, and everyone went their separate ways.
- Look, Breeze. - he started. - You don't like me, and I don't like you much either. - The bird glanced briefly at her trainer, sitting otherwise motionless on his arm, seemingly uninterested. - This is the moment we gotta work together, for once. If we win this contest, I'll never bother you again. - Pidgey's eyes widened in shock. - Might even release you back where I caught you, but only if we win. - he repeated. Breeze perked up, flying into the sky. Crow grinned; it seemed like the deal was struck. - Dumb bird. - he murmured under his breath, out of range of the tiny bird's hearing. He entered the tall grass, searching for bugs to win him some sweet rewards to sell!

Breeze let out a sudden loud chirp.
- Found somethin'? - he looked at her position, trying to follow her. He scanned the area, but it was all just grass and leaves... - Where is it?! Where did you see it? - questions flooded, as he frantically searched for the bug. Breeze definitely saw something, but he just-
A leaf moved. Crow locked onto the target instantly. He stared at it intently, waiting to make another move, just to make sure. It moved, wiggled. A small yellow face popped out - the leaf WAS the Pokemon! A Sewaddle!
- Huh. That it? I guess we can catch it for now... Breeze, Gust! - he ordered and the Pidgey kicked up strong winds with her wings, aiming the attack right at the sleepy catterpillar.

The whole park was flooded with people and scary pokemon who chased every bug who dared to peek out of their nest. A sewaddle, who had lived great of the spring's fresh new leaf poked its head out of its grassy nest and blinked sleepily, awoken by all the ruckus. It was met with a strong gust of wind to the face, now it was awake! What was going on?! No one warned the bugs living here that there were such thing as a contest taking place, but to be fair, the sewaddle wouldn't have cared. A precise shot of sticky threads and Breeze suddenly saw herself spiraling towards the ground as her wings stuck to her side every other wingbeat.

The Sewaddle shot a liquid string, that stuck to Breeze's wings and stopped her dead from attacking any further. The winds subsided, however the bug didn't come out unscathed - its leaf was torn in places by sharp gusts. With his Pokemon handicapped, Crow made the call to catch it.
- Should be enough... - he tossed a Sportball towards it, lined perfectly with the creature's forehead, then awaited the result.
Crow used a Sport Ball!

The Sport Ball fell into the grass, shook thrice, then clicked. As it did, Crow snapped his fingers.
- Aaand score! We ain't winning anything with this, but that's a start. - he remarked, picking up the device. He then turned his attention to his bird, which clumsily landed on his arm, struggling to free herself from the webbing. Crow politely decided to help, picking off the gooey strings from her wings to allow her to soar properly again.
- There. See, we can work together sometimes, right? - Crow playfully poked her on the side. The Pidgey didn't appreciate the gesture much, yet did not react with hostility; she simply flew into the sky again, searching for any possible targets.
Crow snorted in amusement. She sure was a tough crowd to please.

Breeze called out to Crow, spotting a furry purple thing that stuck out like a sore thumb. Crow had no problem spotting it among the grasses. It just sat there. Its buggy eyes staring into him. Perhaps even through him, maybe even into his soul. No thoughts, head empty. Or was it? Who could tell if it even had any brain cells to think with?
- I don't know about that one... looks sus to me. - Crow said, creeped out by the bug's cold gaze. Breeze remained unfazed, cawing and ready to attack. - Hey, you found your spirit back since I've caught you! Well then, make use of it. - he nodded his head, giving his bird a silent permission to take out the bug.
Just as with Sewaddle, Breeze created another tiny cyclone and sent it towards the Venonat, this time much more violent than the last.
Crow used Running Shoes!
Breeze used Gust twice!

The strong gust of wind tore through Venonat's furry body as if it were soggy paper, the purple hair circling around even after the attack calmed and stopped, but not before it released a toxic cloud of powder towards her. The bug then lay on its side and rolled away into the distance until it disappeared among the grass, without any sound or even reaction. Crow started to suspect it was a fake dummy Pokémon to throw the contestants for a loop, like a Substitute doll.
- Damn, that was spectacular, even for you- oh. - the ex-Rocket didn't manage to finish his lopsided congratulations before he noticed Breeze glowing and changing shape. Before he knew it, it was over-his Pidgey had become a formidable Pidgeotto!
She screeched into the sky, unfolding her great wings. She felt a huge burst of energy within her. However, it didn't feel right to her. The raging feeling wanted to escape her here, now! Breeze could hardly contain it, as if it was trying to claw its way out of her, causing her great strain. This wasn't right; it wasn't right. The great bird struggled, fighting her urge for violence and aggression. She felt powerful.
Crow, unaware of her inner struggle, grabbed her firmly by the beak, forcefully opening it and spraying something sour. A few seconds passed before the rage was quelled, at least temporarily. She could finally breathe and embrace her new form.
- There, you should be good now. - he said. - Felt good, didn't it? The evolution. You wouldn't have achieved it without me if you stayed at your nest. - Crow folded his arms at his chest, the crap-eating grin ever so present. - Now that you're a big girl, find us a big one! - he gestured for her to take flight, which she did. She needed to get used to her new body, these massive wings, long sharp talons.
But her soul still didn't feel right.

Well, this time, the bug came to them. A Beautifly just popped out, crying at them for some reason. Crow noticed it had several eggs nearly piled up within a sort of cradle made from tall grasses just crumpled vaguely into the nest shape.
- Tch. It's a bug alright, and bigger than whatever we met thus far. - the man commented, glancing between the Beautifly and their eggs. - Gust it!
Upon hearing the command, Breeze flinched. She too saw the eggs and hesitated - if she attacked the butterfly Pokémon with full force, the poor little ones could be caught in the attack, and... she dreaded to think about the damage that could be done to them. On the other hand, her freedom was at stake, and catching it could potentially ensure she flies free once again.
She flapped her wings to create a small gust of wind, just enough to hit just the bug... but she kept going. Beating her wings harder and harder as seconds passed, the attack became stronger and more violent. She couldn't stop herself, this uncontrollable inner rage fueling her actions against her will. Soon, the brutal winds grew so strong, the grass around started tearing to shreds and Crow had to hold onto his shades so they wouldn't fly away off his nose. He couldn't be any more satisfied - the power of the attack was sure to obliterate the Beautifly and her progeny, and he was all for it, despite the nature of the contest.
- Yes! Show the stupid bugs your new POWER! - he yelled to Breeze, just before she released her attack full force towards the bug type.
Using Running Shoes!
Breeze used Gust twice!

All of the strong gusts produced by Breeze whipped and twirled, but not just the bug... its eggs! The hardy shells would protect them from the soft cradle of the grasses to which they had been scattered thankfully; being eggs were designed for grass impact safety. But with that harsh display from the bird Beautifly decided to disengage with nothing but an unpleasant pluck of energy to gather them up.
VICTORY!
 Breeze grew to Lv 20! HP: 53/61 (87%)

- Good one! Too bad you didn't turn them into an omelette. - Crow cackled, when the winds subsided, leaving a huge crater of shredded grass around them, with Wurmple eggs tossed around like marbles with Beautifly retreating to gather them up again. The attack has attracted the attention of several competitors, looking incredulously at the scene. - No worries! My bird just evolved, she's getting used to it. - he called to them waving them away.
Breeze was horrified at what she had done. Gust was way stronger than she intended. Thankfully, eggs seem to be fine and hopefully the little worms inside were fine as well. A sharp whistle got her out of her thoughts.
- We ain't done yet! We wanna win or not?! - the trainer yelled at her from below and her blood started boiling again. He was the reason why she was acting strangely, he had a bad influence on her! Not to mention such a sudden evolution, the emotions brought with it...
For now, she'd play this game. Just to see if her trainer kept his word. She soared ahead, looking for more bugs to catch.
