The Shinx sent a painful Thundershock to Pidgey, and the bird cawed loudly in pain. "YOU ANNOYING BALL OF FURS! DIDN'T I SAY IT DOESN"T INVOLVE YOU?" It flew down and tried to swoop and strike the Shinx, but the Bulbasaur stepped in front despite the type disadvantage. Thankfully, the young bird was too young to learn super effective move anyways. The angry bird just squawked some more. "HEY, YOU COULD HAVE MOVED OUT OF MY FACE!"

Then, Saku aimed her back-bulb at the flying type and fired a volley of seeds directly smacking the face of the Pidgey. The weakened avian fell on the ground, unconscious. There would be a very small window to capture it or the Spearow, before the flock would come to retrieve their fallen soldier.

ZAIDEN KABILA Aspiring Champion : Off | Time: Day Relief washed over the teenager when Tai promised to help him calm down his Pokemon. “Thanks.” Zaiden stated, emphasizing his appreciation. They were hardy beasts whose Tackles were known to topple mountains in their wake. They were ill-suited to forested regions where large trees would enshroud otherwise easily navigable pathways. Though Sai’s sturdy frame could fell a tree or two through her own accord, it was a disastrous idea to allow her to act out of her own emotions. The other rhinoceros, though. That…that was a mystery. Would they somehow lead it to someone who could transport it back to the Safari Zone? Zaiden’s mind raced with thoughts and accusations, as it seemed natural to conclude that the wild beast escaped from there. “I bet the other one doesn’t have a trainer.” He noted, gesturing to how it reacted violently whenever either Tai or Zaiden tried to approach it. Something akin to wild creatures, who were more easily spooked by mankind’s appearance. Raion puffed up her chest. That powerhouse of a monkey praised her, making the electric blue lion feel even better about her own skills. She balled one of her clawed paws up and rubbed it across her maw, striking the very image of wiping one’s chin with their hand in pride. “It’s nothing when your enemies have feathers for brains!” Crude, she laughed coldly as the Pidgey fell to the ground beside the Spearow. “They’ll think twice before trying to tango with either of us, I bet!” She scoffed. Pidgey’s mouth, though… Raion marched over to the fried bird before it had the chance to escape and stomped one of her paws on its tail feathers, aiming to pin the wild avian to the spot. Her eyes burned with anger. One thing you didn’t do was insult her and get away with it. “Hey, you overgrown chicken whose still too small to fill a small child’s stomach for thanksgiving, wanna run that by me again?!” Her fangs glistened as she snarled, flashing them before Pidgey’s face. “You’re really lucky I have morals and won’t knock a bird when it’s down! You got that?!” “My trainer calls me Raion. He says it means ‘lion’, real original that kid, I swear.” She laughed, pressing her nose in a friendly gesture towards the side of Saku’s face. It was the way that cats would often greet each other when they were around others that they trusted and were familiar with. Saku was, as far as the rather rude-mouthed feline was concerned, a dear companion with the way he managed to handle his own in a fight. “Definitely a pleasure to know my companion can handle his own in a fight. I’d hate to have to do all the heavy lifting.” She scoffed, only teasing Saku a little with her words. “Oh…thanks.” He turned as the two titans eventually collapsed, tuckered out from their arduous stampede. Thankfully, that seemed to manage itself well. But…how did they get out? Zaiden walked over to Sai carefully, raising one hand up as the large Rhyhorn turned with narrowed eyes that stared at him skeptically. As she sniffed, gathering Zaiden’s scent through her olfactory senses, she relaxed and allowed him to press the palm of his hand against her horned nostril. “There…there girl…it’s ok.” He promised, immediately pressing his head against hers to bond with her once more. He would recall her just as easily, before turning to Tai with a quick nod. “There’s something called ‘Player Protection’ that allows you to catch a fainted Pokémon. Unless…you’re like me and already have your first badge?” Zaiden had two, actually, but was taking his sweet time on the third one. Why? Because, apparently selling Pokémon paid the bills more. Regardless what Tai chose to do with the Pidgey, they still needed to decide on how to handle the remaining Rhyhorn… who was way too heavy to tote all the way back to the Safari Zone, for one. OOC: Raion should also learn Charge as a Level (8) up move, so adding it. Also I believe you did but just checking that you added words for the eggs. Should be +200 each. Confirmed with Tiki words weren't added, so added them. As long as you note that you've self-updated, you're free to do so as well with your post Hunter. ^^ No need to, obviously, we gotchu. The remaining Pidgey had surprisingly managed to withstand Raion's Thundershock attack, it was clear the avian pokemon was not going to go down quietly, it's irritable squawking sounds echoing just as much. Little did Zaiden and Taiki know due to the language barrier, but the wild Pidgey was directing some serious verbal heat towards its opponents prior to trying to launch an attack maneuver against Zaiden's lynx-kitten like pokemon. Before the avian pokemon could swoop in and strike its opponent, Saku valiantly stepped in front of her new partner in battle and bore the brunt of the flying type pokemon's offense. Taiki's Bulbasaur responded in kind by firing a volley of seeds at the wild Pidgey, smacking the bird in face, the damage from hers and Raion's attacks combined sufficient enough to cause the avian to fall to the ground, unconscious.

I would be severely underselling how dominant your little partner was! Well done Zaiden!

Taiki was very impressed with how Zaiden's lynx-kitten like pokemon had handled the entire situation, it had certainly taken things by the scruff of the neck and never released the pressure on the pair of avian pokemon. After letting the now conscious but clearly drowsy Pidgey know who was large and in charge around these parts, Raion gently pressed her nose against the side of Saku's face, a gesture of appreciation and sign of the new and blossoming friendship that had formed so seamlessly between the pair of pokemon.

You absolutely dominated that fight, way to go! That was an absolute blast getting to fight alongside you!

Oh and before I forget, my trainer calls me Saku!

The pair of rampaging Rhyhorn had finally collapsed, exhausted from their arduous stampeding along the route. Zaiden was quick to move across and comfort his rhinoceros-like pokemon. A problem remained at large, a big problem at that as the conundrum of what to do with the remaining Rhyhorn was yet to be sorted out. Zaiden had made mention of the 'Player Protection' rule that the Johto region enforced for trainers who had not yet received their first gym badge, even know Tai had been told previously by Dexter about the rule, it was comforting to have the rule confirmed to him by another human rather than a piece of technology.

Well here goes, might as well see if its trainer owned or free to a good home!

Tai was ready to put the rules to the test two-fold as he retrieved a pair of pokeballs in prep of attempting to capture the dazed Pidgey and the exhausted Ryhorn. The Kantonian adult male firstly tossed a red and white pokeball at the avian pokemon before tossing the same colour schemed capturing device in the direction of the rhinoceros-like pokemon. The pair of pokemon were absorbed into the confinements of the technological marvel by an eerie red beam of light. There was little to no shaking or semblance of a struggle from the flying type pokemon's pokeball, meanwhile the ground/rock type hybrid put up much more of a fight, clearly its willingness to give up its freedom a powerful factor throughout the process, thankfully for Taiki however both pokeballs came to a complete stop and a 'ding' sound could be heard to signify a successful capture. Tai gleefully retrieved the pair of captured pokemon's pokeballs and placed them on his belt line,

Sweet, crisis averted I guess hey Zaiden? I wonder what's going to happen next, I'd say pigs are likely to fly but jeez I feel like I'd jinx myself and we'd bare witness to that

The weather was quick to shift from what had been a picturesque start to the day as an autumn like frosty tone radiated amongst the route, despite this numerous wild pokemon were still out romping amongst some of the frozen foliage that lie dormant on the ground. What came next was well and truly yet to be determined but regardless of what that may be, Taiki was excited for the endless possibilities, his journey was still so young and fresh and already so action packed with so many more memories and adventures to be had.

The air was chilly and the pair were conversing about what was next, since the ryhorn stampede was stopped. Perhaps they escaped from a nearby farm. Perhaps they were released here. A mystery to be sure. However, perhaps what they were not expecting was for a young boy to be watching it all, his heart burning for a real challenge. A proper battle for the ages! He was the master bug catcher of this route, the next Bugsy in the making. He just knew it. He had spent all week training up his very first wurmple into a dustox and would show these two his strength!

Yes. Perfect. He would be the undisputed champion of this stretch of the route if he defeated TWO trainers at once.

Thus the boy leapt from the tree, landing in a superhero pose between the two males, before popping up and swinging around his net like a fighting staff. "I HAVE COME TO CHALLENGE YOU FOR DOMINION OF THIS ROUTE!" he shouted, sounding terribly much like a kid trying to quote his favorite comic book villain to sound tough. "Dusty. Wormy! I CHOOSE YOU!"

ZAIDEN KABILA Aspiring Champion : Off | Time: Day Though spunky in her own right, Raion lacked understanding and wisdom that would come with age and several hard knocks. She puffed up her chest, face beaming with pride from the outpouring of praise that not only Saku gave but also her trainer. She’d thought very little of plant Pokemon beforehand, only knowing them in passing and witnessing underwhelming performances from the wayside. “Saku, thank you! I had the upperhand for sure. I am an electric type, after all.” She purred. Raion curled her tail around her side lazily, letting herself relax fully. She’d stretch out underneath the golden sun’s bright rays with a wide smile that slowly frowned as a chilly winter’s air snuck onto the scene, managing to drape the tall emerald blades of grass with frosty tips. “Stupid birds don’t know what hits ‘em. A little spark, and they’re all fried Torchic ‘round me!” She boasted pridefully, puffing up her chest as a soft yawn crawled out of her maw. “Oh…thank, Tai…” Zaiden smiled nervously, one hand reaching up over his head to scratch at the nape of his neck. Deep brown eyes like chocolate drops turned in their sockets and drank Raion’s visage in quiet contemplation. After his own inner deliberations, Zaiden finally mused, “I appreciate it. Your Bulbasaur was pretty good, too. I’m… trying to prove myself for my Kogasu… she’s a Charmeleon…” The fiery little upstart hadn’t seen eye-to-eye with him since evolution, sadly, though they’d come close on a couple of occasions. He watched Taiki capture not only the wild Pidgey they’d finished their scuffle with, but also the extra rhinoceros who’d previously went rampaging across Route 29, tearing asunder every tree and shrub in its wake. “I’ve never seen Lechonk fly before.” He mused with a comical tune. As Zaiden warmed up and braced himself to speak once more, a strange human leaped out of a tree and demanded they battle in his vain attempt to claim for himself full rights and responsibilities over the wooded route. Zaiden’s voice swelled in his throat once more, metastasizing as a large lump that nearly choked the very air he breathed. Yet, he relaxed when his vision caught the imagery of a young child whose frail hands clung desperately to a net nearly twice his own size. “We can all share the route.” Noticing that young Dustin would not back down so easily, he whistled to his lynx, whose ears perked before rolling over onto her four limbs with a loud yawn and stretch of her muscled limbs. “I swear, I can’t get a single second’s rest without someone coming by. Oh hi, look at me, durr! I want a battle because that’s what humans do!” Her words were harsh and crass, without a care for who she might offend should they overhear her tone. Still, Raion leaped diligently in front of Zaiden and smirked, eyes locked on the floated bug with a wide grin. “Oh, you’re a flying thing! Good. You’re going down!” She roared firmly. The sooner she managed to thwart this would-be opponent, the sooner she could clamor back into her sweet nothing dreams. Short bolts of electricity slowly built up in Raion’s fur. She focused, building up her attack before taking aim at Dustox aptly named ‘Dusty’ and fired a powerful bolt of electricity from her body. She hoped to send the powerful wave crashing into the winged bug in an attempt to knock it clear out of the skies. “Your trainer interrupted my nap. So, sorry if I sound groggy, but I am not in the mood for this.” Raion snapped firmly. OOC: Raion uses Thunder Shock on Dustox! Raion was not lacking in confidence, the lynx-kitten like pokemon could talk the talk and so far she had just as much walked the walk. Zaiden's Shinx boasted her disdain for avians loud and clear as she issued an overt warning to them should they mess with her, it were as if she were some type of air-traffic marshal with strict 'no flying' zones when they came within her vicinity. Saku snickered in response to what Raion had said and proceeded to jokingly respond to her feline friends confident nature,

Damn girl, remind me not to get on your bad side! Lucky I don't have a set of wings, I'd for sure be flying in the opposite direction

Taiki felt that Zaiden was slowly yet steadily becoming more comfortable around him and consequently appearing less nervous when the pair where in the midst of back and forth conversation. The young boy's comment about a flying Lechonk garnered a snicker from Taiki, his mind wondering to a creative space internally in which said pokemon existed, what a unique sight that would be to witness in the flesh. A response that had particularly captured Taiki's attention was the fact that Zaiden felt a need to prove himself to his Charmeleon, the Kantonian was curious as to why exactly that was the case and felt a nosy need to find out,

Thanks dude, is everything all good between You and your Kogasu if you don't mind me asking?

Peace was clearly a fickle thing as the serenity that spanned across the route was quickly disrupted by a young boy doing his best Bugsy cosplay. What made the sudden new development even more interesting is how the young boy had decided to make his presence known to Zaiden and Taiki as he leapt from a tree above and landed directly in between the pair of trainers in a pose eerily resemblant of a certain superhero. Tai froze on the spot, not because of the frosty weather that was now greeting those present on the route, rather he seemed to be having flashbacks to the day he had woken up with his arms amputated, his memory hazy as he couldn't clearly recall what exactly had happened that particular day.

God damn it kid, why'd you have to go and do that?

For Saku, Raion, and Zaiden, the reaction from Taiki was seemingly uncharacteristic of the friendly nature that they had come to know of him so far. Taiki suddenly unfroze, as if he had woken up from a daze, the Kantonian proceeded to take a deep breath in as he closed his eyes, for a moment he held his breath before initiating a gentle exhale and then opening his eyes, a form of centering himself that one of the nurses at the hospital had shown him. Saku the Bulbasaur turned to Raion as if feeling a need to clarify to her new friend that her trainers sudden shift in behavior was something she had not bared witness to previously,

I can't say I've seen him act like that before, my guess is it has something to do with his arm, maybe?

The young boy whose net was much larger than him had sent out a pair of bug type pokemon in preparation for battle, if nothing else Zaiden and Taiki had to respect the kid's gall for being so willing to pit himself in a two versus one scenario. Instinctively, Taiki retrieved Dexter the Pokedex from his pocket and pointed the digital encyclopedia in the direction of the two combatants that opposed him,

Dustox. The Poison Moth Pokemon. It scatters its fine dust all over when it is attacked. It is a nocturnal Pokémon.

Wurmple. The Worm Pokemon. It lives among the tall grass and in forests. It repels attacks by raising up the spikes on its rear.

I swear I've seen an anime with so many similarities to this type of situation where a young boy challenges the protagonist to battle, I just can't remember what episode!

Taiki's friendly nature seemed to be back and present, at least for a moment in time. His mood seemingly shifted to one of concern as the pokeball containing Zuko the Chimchar fell from his belt buckle and landed with the button face down towards the ground, a complete accident but a sequence of events that allowed the fighting-junkie like chimp pokemon out of his resting place and into the thick of things. Saku was stunned, she had witnessed firsthand how her less thoughtful teammate had gotten himself, and by association her and Tai into trouble previously with the band of Sentret issue,

Oh dear lord, not this kid again

Zuko was giddy with excitement as he noticed the pair of bug type pokemon across from him, he was all too eager to leave an imprint of his fists on their physical beings, but first he made sure to let his feelings be known,

What's up Saku you sucker, you miss me? Whose the cute little lynx?

Saku's two slender, tentacle-like vines were emerging from the green plant bulb on her back as she prepared to hold her combat hungry teammate back from getting them into any more trouble than was needed. The little fire type chimp pokemon noticed the vines coming towards him stuck his tongue out cheekily towards his teammate before nimbly zipping away from them as he made a b-line towards the moth-like pokemon, his focus entirely fixated upon his new opponent as his fist became surrounded by red-orange flames in preparation of punching it. Taiki sent an order in the direction of his less obedient team member, however it was clearly too late as the chimp pokemon prepared to leap into the air and enter Raion's 'No Fly Zone', hopefully she didn't target him next.

Zuko, get back here you cheeky little monkey!

Oh boy this can't end well for this kid, Zuko is going to crush any hopes and dreams he has before he can live them out

"Share?! No. We cannot share this route, for there can only be one victor. And that victor shall be I! I will take you down as part of my mission to one day overtake Bugsy's place as gym leader. Then, I will challenge the league itself! Bug pokemon will reign supreme!!!" Dustin cried out. "Dusty! Show them what you've got by blowing them away with one of your gusts. Wormy, slow'em down with string shot so they can't get away." He smirked and looked incredibly proud of himself for being an absolute nuisance on breezy, cool afternoon.

Dusty did his absolute best, but honestly, he knew this wasn't a winning situation when a shinx and a chimchar appeared. This wasn't some punk with a rat, but a pair of real trainers...but he would try. With a flutter of his wings, he tried to blow the chimchar out of the match with a hearty gust, but alas, the following up electricity and fire were too much. Shinx bodily tackled it while sparking, which knocked it from the sky, then the chimchar finished off the rest of its hope for survival with a powerful punch. Dusty was down and out in literally two hits.

"Nooo! DUSTY! Get back up!"

Wormy was wide-eyed...umm...

ZAIDEN KABILA Aspiring Champion : Off | Time: Day Raion smirked. She felt a strange sensation explode inside of her chest, causing her to puff it out in response as pride overtook her form. She was capable and strong, though hearing her companion state that they would prefer to avoid anything that might cause them to wind up on the wrong side of her made her smirk. It felt like a fluttering of butterfly wings all igniting at once with an epic boom! “I doubt you could be as idiotic as our opponents.” Raion commented flatly, eyes glaring at the one remaining bug before them. Saku had a head on her shoulder, knew just the right words to say to keep herself in ‘good graces’ with others, and handled herself well in a fight. So long as Raion wasn’t struggling because of someone else’s incompetence, that’s all that really mattered to her. “Ya feelin’ real confident without your friend, punk?” She teased the remaining Wurmple. Zaiden’s mind spun back to the faithful day when his Pokemon’s evolution caused her unusually short temperament and frowned. She looked to him for guidance, yet his anxieties and self-frustration held him back. It left the young teenager chasing after his own Pokemon shortly after his first GYM Badge. “She evolved during my battle with Falkner…” Zaiden explained, eyes shifting away. His voice dissipated entirely as he tried to choke out the rest, but couldn’t, just before they were interrupted. It completely changed their conversation and gave Zaiden a much-needed escape from the memories that plagued him. He would become the kind of trainer Kogasu could rely on. He had to. If all he did was fail in the end, how could he return back to his parents? How could he return to the life he tried to desperately run away from, if only to hopefully make something of himself so that he could singlehandedly shave them all? “Bugsy’s tough.” Zaiden added, struggling to find the words to speak into existence. Dark eyes the color of rich chocolate burned their gaze on the short child draped in a short-sleeved shirt and shorts that barely tickled the top of his knees. “Especially…his Scyther…” Zaiden finally choked out the rest. They’d barely managed to scrape by on that victory, with Kogasu suffering from Scyther’s mighty blades. Why was he fumbling now? After finally managing to hold his own with Taiki for so long? Was it simply the memories of the past, and his own insecurities bubbling back up to the surface, that caused him so much grief? Raion watched her own trainer struggle and pranced over to Zaiden, nuzzling up against one of his hands incessantly. She refused to give up, even as Zaiden tried desperately to push her away, until finally he caved and gently stroked her between the ears. “Now, go finish the battle.” Zaiden urged. Raion returned to her fire-breathing companion, flicking her tail from one side to the other. “Name’s Raion, fool. What about you?” She puffed up with a pretty firm look. Why did Saku seem to detest her own companion? There was more to play than meets the eye. Zaiden gently nudged Taiki’s side, though carefully as though he were ready to back away without hesitation should the gesture prove to turn foul. “Are…you ok…?” He asked curiously. Zaiden had been in the midst of explaining his relationship with his Charmeleon and what had happened between the pair when he seemingly took a long pause and changed the subject to a different matter, it was abundantly clear at that moment to Tai that this was a touchy subject for Zaiden, one that the young boy may not feel so comfortable sharing with a guy he had only recently met. The mention of the name's Falkner and Bugsy bought about a curiosity for Taiki, how experienced was young Zaiden? Tai made sure to make a mental note when Zaiden had mentioned that Bugsy's Scyther was an especially tough opponent, when it eventually came time to challenge the Azalea Town Gym Leader, Taiki could only hope that he and his team were prepared enough for the challenge.

The uncharacteristic outburst that Taiki had unloaded in the young bug catcher's direction was something that young adult male was not proud of, it was also however something he couldn't explain, it was as if his mind had a dark cloud circling over it anytime he found himself reflecting on his past and the day he had lost his arm. A gentle nudge from Zaiden and a simple question went a long way to comforting the older one of the two, it was clear that both guys were fighting battles internally and their feelings and emotions were being impacted as a consequence of it,

Zuko had been barely moved an inch by the hearty gust from the bug catcher's Dustox, a flippant smirk etched over his face as he eyed off his winged opponent,

You thought a damn gust of wind was going to hurt me? Pathetic.

Switching his attention to the lynx-kitten like pokemon that had caught his eye, he made sure to let her know who he was and what he was about,

I'm Zuko, the one with the fastest and strongest hands you'll ever bare witness to

Raion the Shinx's powerful electric type attacking maneuver had not long made contact with their winged opponent before Zuko's flame covered fist followed up on the moth-like pokemon and dissipated any remaining semblance of fighting spirit that the bug type may have had, it's unconscious body slamming into the cold, hard surface below. All that remained opposing Zaiden and Tai's pokemon was a lonely looking Wurmple, the smell of fear a repugnant odor emanating from its direction.

I mean if over-confident and overzealous is your type, this cheeky chimp is all of the above, he's a real firebrand

The rash fire-type chimp pokemon was indefinitely the type of pokemon to hit first and ask questions later, not a singular coherent thought being applied to what the corresponding consequences may be, it was likely something that Taiki would have to get a handle on before it landed him in trouble. Zuko cheekily stuck out his tongue and pulled down on one of his eyelids, an abrupt taunt that served as a message to his opponent that he was treating it as nothing more than a joke. A double bicep pose followed from the cheeky Chimchar,

Oh I forgot to add to that list from before, full of himself is another trait of his

Taiki mused to himself after observing his two pokemon seemingly arguing with each other, it certainly did not give off a look of cohesiveness amongst the team. Tai's journey was still in it's youth, despite this the young adult male had some work that needed to be done if he were to eventually present a well-oiled machine like team in future gym challenges.

Those two always seem to be bickering with each other, maybe it's best I keep them away from one another

Zuko swiftly darted towards the the red colored worm pokemon opposite him with only hurtful intentions loaded into his powerful fists, he was fully ready to back up every little bit of smack talk that he could dish out.

Wormy did his best, he really did. After getting the pair caught up in a sticky string shot, he tried to tackle that chimchar down and out, but it was just too strong! His buggy eyes got all watery and he turned tail to flee, but alas, too late. Victory was not to be had. Between the thundershock and the fire punch, the bug was fried and sent flying to Dustin's feet. The kid drop to his knees with a wail and a sniffle, slobbering bit snotty tears all over his poor pokemon. Dusty. Wormy! How could they lose?! They were meant to be the kings of this route and take down everyone they came across. They were to overcome Bugsy! Oh cruel world.

The kid, rather than answering to the replies of the trainers in front of him, just scooped up his pokemon, "I...I will get you, you meanies!" His response was pointed and childish. But in truth, that what he was. A child. An upset, blubbering child with an armful of wounded bugs that he was now sobbing over. He bolted off the path, crying about how awful they were the whole way.

Whelp.

ZAIDEN KABILA Aspiring Champion : Off | Time: Day The odd similarity between the two young men – one fresh in his twenties whilst the other still navigated his way through his teens – remained an apparent feature. They both had their own inner demons lurking just below the surface, meant to steal their resolve when either of the young men least expected it. Zaiden nodded, a subtle smile flickering at the corners of his mouth and turned his attention back to Dustin and his Pokemon. In true childlike fashion, the small child immediately balled his hands up into fists to rub at his eyes until they were puffy and red from crying. “…Hey now…” An uncomfortable moment crawled just below Zaiden’s skin. He was still a child himself in so many ways. Though teen-hood took a firm grasp of his body and aged him up considerably, giving him any life lessons along the way, there was still so much that Zaiden didn’t know how to handle or how to help with. Dustin ambushed them out of seemingly nowhere, demanded a fight that he was overconfident in and sure he would win, then immediately pouted and wailed when things didn’t go his way. “…I know it hurts. It never feels good to lose.” Zaiden tried putting himself in Dustin’s shoes instead. He reached out to the small lad, who immediately pulled away. “We’re not mean just because we won. But… it still won’t ease the pain. I know…” He gulped, struggling through his words with an awkward smile. Yeah, no one said this would be easy. This was a pain to try to do – to relate to another as though he might understand their struggles if only because he’d just been reminiscing on the same pain, he’d felt with Kogasu a while back. Dustin stormed off, however, giving Zaiden little time to explain any further. Nervously, he raised one hand and scratched the back of his neck. The lump in Zaiden’s throat swelled and felt as though it might cut his circulation off completely if he tried to speak. Raion rushed around excitedly, sparks flying in odd directions off her fur. They managed to deeat those bugs in record time! She knew that the next person would have to think twice before trying to tango with her! “Fastest?! Let’s see! I’ll race you to that large willow tree over yonder!” Raion scoffed with a knowing raise of one eyebrow. This monkey thought that it could best HER in speed?! She’d zip over their on the tips of her blue paws in record time, probably with enough lapse before Zuko arrived to even have a glass of tea or whatever humans’ might do while waiting, knowing her. “Last one there’s a rotten Exeggcute?” She teased, butting her head against Zuko’s side. The sheer impact that Raion and Zuko were able to dish out upon Dustin's pair of bug type pokemon had left the young boy in a devastated state. The battle itself had not been the most competitive one of all time as a combination of experience and type advantage combined to leave Zaiden and Taiki as the victors. Witnessing young Dustin in an emotional state tugged at Tai's heartstrings, the young adult male feeling sorry for the life lesson that he and his new teenage friend had just taught to the bug type enthusiast.

Keep your chin up Dustin mate, keep on practicing and dream big, who knows what the future has in store for you!

Dustin stormed off before Taiki or Zaiden could console him any further, clearly he didn't want to hear any of the advice being provided to him by the older pair. It had been an eventful day so far, some core memories already etched into Tai's memory bank, the young adult male mused within his mind about journaling the day's events once he eventually reached Cherrygrove City. Before Tai could ask Zaiden whether he had any immediate plans to travel further along the route he noticed Raion the Shinx bolting off towards a large tree,

There is truly never a dull moment around these parts, I wonder what's going on that's got Raion full of energy?

Raion had been able to get a small yet significant head-start in the race to the large willow tree, Zuko was not phased in the slightest, his brash over-confidence allowing her to create some distance before he even started to zip across the ground. Zuko was keen to have some fun with the whole situation as he cheekily yelled out to Raion with a concerned voice, clearly putting on a persona in hopes of pointing out a distraction to her that definitely did not exist, a move so characteristic of Zuko the Chimchar,

Watch out to your left Raion! There's something coming right at you!

It would have made logical sense for Saku the Bulbasaur to support her teammate over a pokemon she had only very recently established a friendship with, however the normally gentle natured Bulbasaur had no time or patience for her fire-type teammate and instead vocalized her support for her new partner in crime,

Please for the love of Arceus, whoop that cheeky chimp's backside Raion, I believe in you!

"EeeeeEEEEK! GET OOOOOFFFF OF MEEEEEE! Go away go away go aWAyyyyy!"

An absolutely shrill screech of feminine terror and abject horror ripped through the frosty air, echoing around them in the quiet wake that Dustin left when he ran off. It wasn't too hard to spot the source of the scream, as just up the path, swinging her school bag around her like a makeshift flail, was a teenage girl in a private school uniform. Her brown hair was frizzed up from her floundering and there was webbing stuck to the curls, making an awful mess. Her eyes were clenched shut and she screamed again, just wordless upset as she tried to smash something on the ground. Which...well, upset the bright red insect that was wriggling there, having recently been shaken off by her theatrics. It sprayed the bag with a string shot and her swings became more difficult and sluggish, but she didn't let up. 

Perched on her shoulder and hanging on for dear life was another wurmple, eyes wide as it clung to the fabric of her uniform.

Judging by the scattering of leaves that were nearby, it was fairly obviously that the girl had been innocently walking home from school when the bugs fell out of a tree and landed on her. And like any normal person who didn't want to be crawled on by giant poisonous bugs with barbs on their heads and butts, she started trying to get them off. Even if her methods were crude in her panic.

"Get off of me! OFF OFF OFF!"

She smashed the bag onto the ground again, this time smacking the wurmple on the rear and earning a hostile glare. Uh oh. Someone meant business now...

ZAIDEN KABILA Aspiring Champion : Off | Time: Day Raion tore through the tall grasses, kicking up scattered brown and golden leaves in her wake. She was swift, letting her body meld with the wind itself, and easily spiraled to the left or right of any obstacle. The slinky, limber body seemed built for the race at hand. “What’s to my left? Something like this?!” Raion laughed, kicking up a cloud of dust from her rear limbs in hopes of sending it into Zuko’s path, perhaps to slow him down. All’s fair in love and war, after all. As soon as she managed to make it to the large Willow, she’d jump up, touching the trunk of the large tree, before spinning around hot on her heels to race back up to their trainers. They were evenly matched in speed, making it a perfect pair to remain neck-and-neck until the very last second. A ‘blink and you missed it’ kind of showdown, to say the least. “You aren’t getting slow on me already?!” Raion would cackle, kicking small stray branch out of her path as she leaped up onto a felled tree and hopped over with ease. She’d come to a skidding halt beside Zaiden. The young teenager hurried over to the schoolgirl, hands outstretched, to try and calm her down. “Hang…on…” He choked. Though rationally, Zaiden wanted to explain to her that they were innocent Wurmple and nothing to be afraid of, the words stuck to the back of his throat. Helplessly, his gaze flooded over to Raion with a nod, who puffed up her cheeks with a quiet understanding. It was time to take action, play time was over. “Don’t…you’ll…you’ll…” Zaiden gulped back the rest of his words. Raion hopped over to the young girl and focused on Wurmple on her shoulder. Like a springboard, Raion launched herself up into the air, using her back feet to kick herself off the ground. Her aim was to carefully and gently pluck the small fuchsia hued bug off the young lady’s shoulder. There, she could simply spit it out on the ground and shoo it off. “What are you weaklings doing?! Trying to become pancakes?! No one likes bugs in their food, don’t ya know?!” Raion scoffed with a haughty laugh. If she was successful in plucking the bug off the schoolgirl’s shoulder, she’d try to nudge it back to the tree lines it came from. OOC: Raion uses Bite on one of the Wurmples. Words: 402 | Speech. The race to the large oak tree and back had been a hotly contested one as neither party gave an inch of leeway to the other, their pride well and truly on the line. It was the cheeky chimp pokemon who had been dealt a case of his own medicine as his attempt to distract Raion backfired as the lynx-kitten pokemon kicked up a cloud of dust that caught Zuko off guard and messed up his breathing rhythm as the dust particles stuck to the insides of his throat. Ever the competitor, Zuko forged onwards in the race however was seen to be gasping for large breaths of air as the pace of the race intensified. Ultimately it had been Zaiden's Raion that emerged as the victor, much to Zuko's chagrin. In a serious case of hypocrisy, Zuko fired off his displeasure with Raion's actions which in his not so humble opinion had cost him the race against the shifty little lynx.

Well somebody's clearly a sore loser, add that to the ever-growing tally of icks you seem to possess, you're actually unlikable

Attention was quickly shifted away from the harmless race between two budding young rivals that had taken place, instead it diverted to a teenage girl dressed in a private school uniform who appeared to be experiencing much more than just a 'bad hair day'. The school-age girl's personal space was being invaded by a pair of Wurmple and the look of distress that was etched on her face indicated that she needed some help with the situation she found herself stuck in.

Well looks like I definitely spoke too soon! On a side note though, these Wurmple really are rampant around these parts

Zuko was clearly not interested in helping with the 'damsel in distress' like situation, instead his focus was firmly fixated on securing a rematch against his now self-proclaimed bitter rival. Raion the Shinx's attention had clearly already visibly shifted away from Zuko and the race to the new task at hand, helping the young school-aged girl out. The lynx-kitten's approach to sorting the problem out was an aggressive one, she appeared full of confidence and was displaying that to everyone within eyeshot of her.

Screw those damned bugs, rematch me you scaredy cat

Fancy you calling anyone scared, when the going gets tough you're nowhere to be seen you big noter

Given her teammates unwillingness to help out, Saku took it upon herself to assist with the situation at large. Saku was adopting a much gentler approach than Raion as she attempted to use her vines to pick-up the smaller of the two red worm pokemon and move it closer to a nearby tree, imploring it to climb back to where it had likely come from. A reassuring message followed her actions as she endeavored to promote herself as friend rather than foe to the bug type pokemon,

Fret not little one, we'll get you back home

Zuko stood idly with his arms crossed like a young child throwing a tantrum, a look of disdain was painted over his face and was aimed firmly in the direction of his new rival, Raion. Observing from the heights of the humans, Taiki was pleasantly surprised to see Saku jumping into the thick of the action without being asked to do so, her caring nature on full display as she gently tried to assist, all Tai felt was needed was a reassuring message to the young girl that everything was going to be okay,

Stay calm for us, everything's going to be okay! My buddy Zaiden and I will help sort this problem out for you!
