ZAIDEN KABILA Aspiring Champion : On | Time: Day There were several options that presented themselves as viable solutions. Zaiden could easily mark the trees along the forest as he traversed away from Eerie Wood. This method would help him identify where he previously ventured through the wooded landscape. It was problematic, however, if he wound up looping around while marking his pathway onwards, thus creating a mesmerizing circle that never ended. Often, this solution, while great in theory, proved poor in execution, when it wasn’t carefully and tactfully used. Zaiden doubted he would fare better, and without multiple ways to communicate each route’s path he took, like alternating sharpie colors, he wasn’t planning to risk it. A small bird fluttered down from the canopies overhead and landed on a thick branch, its large red eyes peering at the young lad as though it were silently judging his life decisions. Humans were nuances causing so much ruckus it made it difficult for Hoothoot to find the right time to sneak in a bit of slumber in the perpetually dark atmosphere of Ilex Forest proper. Was Zaiden going to continue to bash about haphazardly, fighting random locals as he pleased with his partner Pokémon that were not endemic to the local biome?! It flapped its short, stubby wings and chirred angrily, with an upturned beak. “Mind carrying on somewhere else, sonny boy?!” The bird’s loud hoots screamed. Hoothoot turned its large eyes towards one of the varied pathways leading to unknown stretches of Ilex Forest and pointed one wing firmly. “Well? Hmm? Hut, two, three, four, and be on with you now. I ‘aven’t got all day!” Surely, they wouldn’t continue their rude antics once it was pointed out to them where they couldn’t ignorantly pretend like there weren’t others beyond themselves trying to live around the area? It puffed up its feathers, making itself even more like a balloon about to burst than usual, and hopped from one foot to the other in the blink of an eye. Zaiden craned his head upwards and blinked. He had his own Hoothoot, Yofukashi, and was well aware of the species as a whole, though he hardly managed to find any time to truly work with his partner Pokémon. It made his heart sputter, causing a rush of air to swirl in his chest. He nearly staggered on shaky legs from the immediate rush of conflicting emotions. It was a shame he hadn’t found more reasons to slip Yofukashi into his team, allowing his feathered avian the chance to properly stretch her feet. With a loud whistle, Zaiden released a small, furry brown beaver with large buckteeth and a red button nose. He took both hands and rolled them about with a firm finger pointed to the feathered avian. Bībā nodded before rushing towards the wild Hoothoot with all his might, causing himself to spin across the ground as though he were imitating a barrel roll. He used everything he could – rom rocks to logs – to help launch himself in the air after Hoothoot each time it fluttered just out of reach, hoping to eventually make contact with his opponent. “Would you like to see my wood carvings after we’re done battling?” Bībā called out to the Hoothoot, who shrugged with a slight scoff. “I’d like to see you all leave the area after we’re done!” It informed Bībā with a snap.
