"Ready Crocalor?" Freya asked her companion with a smile. "We need to find the biggest, baddest bug in this bug catching contest! Like...a scyther! Or, or maybe, ooooh, this one looks cool. A Durant. Recently imported from Unova. Look how strong that one looks! It's bug-steel type like scizor. Hey, and they have Paldea pokemon here too like Nymble!"
Thumbing through the glossy pages of the contest booklet, Freya hyped herself and her pokemon up for the hunt ahead.
"Apparently we're NOT trying to knock down its health...in best condition with as few balls possible for the catch."
Well, time to get hunting!

Crocalor, having not been paying too much attention to much of anything, just enjoying living life, head empty, contemplating food... Oh, hey look. FOOD. Crocalor started to chase the little nymble and...oh. Oh that is fire. He is using incinerate on the little bug. "Crocaloooooor! What are you dooooing? We're trying to catch bugs, not roast them over an open fire, you big doof!"

"Well, I guess we're not catching that one...Oh crocalor. We're not here to knock everything out. We're here to catch stuff," Freya scolded. However, her happy croc just started to bounce and then bounded into the grass. He wanted to go find more bug friends! Come here bug friends~ If you were super nice, maybe he wouldn't set you on fiiiireeee. Freya rolled her eyes and followed after him, hoping that he wouldn't be TOO much of a menace. It would be embarrassing to return to the judge with nothing because her pokemon went on a spree of torching bugs.

Freya sighed and shooed crocalor along. "Yes, yes, i am the killer of all fun. Now go on," she urged. Crocalor hopped and danced and then leapt deeper into the tangles of tall grasses. "DO NOT SET THINGS ON FIRE WITHOUT PERMISSION."
<But I waaaaant tooo. But okay mama, I'll be good. I will not burn the next thing I see unless you say so." Nod, nod. Oh hey look, what's over there! He rushed off and ran towards and interesting sound. Was it a big scary spooky buggy that he could pounce on and totally not burn right away?

Oh, hey! Not bad! It wasn't a scyther or durant, but that wasn't a first stage bug. Progress. Crocalor was already dancing and breathing in deep in preparation, but Freya jumped on him, "Shhhhhhh, not yet. No fire. We're catching this one." Maybe. "I need you to use yawn. Make sure it's good and asleep."

He ran right up to the moth and started to very loudly and pointedly try to breathe in the moth's face. Yawn here! Yawn there. Hey there, you need to nap now. Are you sleepy yet?! YAWN! TAKE THAT!

It all was pretty standard. A weak gust as the moth became drowsy. But then...it spread poisonous spores all over Crocalor as he had his mouth wiiiide open, which resulted in the little croc choking a bit. Urg. Blah. He coughed. Icky. Now he was sick to his stomach. The dustox fell to the ground, asleep, and Freya considered the difficulty of catching it at full health...even asleep. Full evolved pokemon were notoriously stubborn. Maybe she should keep looking and aim for something...easier.
"Okay, buddy...here. Drink this." A full heal. "Maybe fire was the right idea."

"I'm going to throw a ball. If it doesn't catch, you can burn it." Freya conceded as she stood up. Shame. She was hoping to place at this contest but...not at this rate. Crocalor happily waited for Freya to throw a ball at the durant. The path of the pall was a clean arc. Straight and true. She doubted this would catch, but if it did, hey, happy little 'accident'. If it didn't, Crocalor would very excitedly OVER compensate for not being able to burn the dustox before by using fire pledge. Because summoning great eruptions of fire were a perfectly reasonable response to poison.
