Night in the Dance Theater Garden

After his completion of Alolan trials, Alex returned to Ecruteak City temporarily. The area was under a heavy fog from the cooling temperature in the area. He was going to check out the curated garden before winter comes and after summer. Now, he wasn't sure if he should still go visit the garden. However, he was already back in Ecruteak City, and decided to give it a try. He could just stand really close to the plants and maybe read the plaques right?

He entered the garden, and was greeted by the aromatic waft of the plants. Although it was foggy, he could still make out some of the signposts and trees towering in front of him. He could see some background Pokemon peeking out, and then disappeared. He slowly walked toward the area that was the Director's favorite plants.

The gardens were quiet, while some pokemon were taking advantage of the lack of human activity to be out and about. Others were quite the opposite, they wanted to spent the night sleeping so that they could be ready for the day's activities, and Lombre was one of them. It was a rising star and trained hard to be a part of the famous dance team inside the theater, it was sure it was going to join them in a very short time. It opened its eyes as the sounds of footsteps awoke it from its slumber.

This thread is meant to be in evening time, so it wasn't like super late at night.

Alex was squinting his eyes trying to read a plaque by the tree. He barely saw the word "Director's" before hearing a soft growl and soft footsteps touching the paved walkway. When he turned around, he noticed a Lombre was standing about, shuffling as if it was dancing or nervous. Seeing that he was near the famous dance theater, he figured maybe it was trying to dance, but the fog wasn't really helpful at all!

"Come on out, Spiden! Use Leech Life on the Lombre! We already have a Ludicolo!" He gave a quick order, as he didn't need to have two Pokemon from the same evolution line, especially from a grass type. A red giant spider appeared in front of him, and stared at the Lombre before launching an attack.

"Hi..." The Lombre barely got some words out before the Ariados moved her legs toward it and sucked its stamina. The opponent grumbled and excused itself away from the crew. "Well, fine then!" The Lombre threw its hands in the air like an exasperated human trying to talk to another one, and then disappeared into the fog.

"Good job, Spiden! It's going to be winter soon. How about some fresh air?" Alex thanked his Pokemon, and decided not to return the Ariados right away to her Pokeball. The bug type clicked her mandibles agreeably, and then stood next to the human.

The trainer then got close to the plaque, and began reading about the rest of that plaque. "Director's Story" it began, and mentioned the gentleman's birthplace and year, and then his parents' occupations, and siblings. In fact, the tree behind the plaque had just been in Ecruteak for a very long time and had nothing to do with the Director. He barely finished the sentence about his education before he was distracted by another Pokemon yet again.

The fog was a hazy veil draped across the garden, as if forgotten there by some ethereal being from above, gauzy and diaphanous as the finest threads of spider spun silk. With the rising moon and fading sun offering a dreamy backdrop that lit the haze in a mix of painterly hues, if just for a moment, there was a reprieve from the muddled greyscale that such fogginess usually created. The air was thick and damp, cold but clammy with humidity. It was an evening that was both alluring with invitation and promises of secrets, and equally off-putting for the very same reasons.

And in this whimsical scape a creature of blue and green spun about, as if trying to mimic the dances it saw.

An oddish.

It didn't seem to notice anyone else being there at all.

"🎵Baby Oddish Do do do doo...🎵" The Oddish hummed to itself as it twirled under the foggy sky, humming an addicting tune that its friends who had heard human children singing while visiting the garden. It was spinning at like two syllables per spin, but also managed to stop every now and then to avoid giving itself a confusion.

Alex was deep into reading the Director's life story, and was about three plaques down and five plants down, when the Ariados had noticed the Oddish. The bug crawled quietly toward it. "Darling, you're disturbing our quietness and peace, can you go dance somewhere further? Away?" She hissed disappointedly at the seemingly young Oddish.

"I am sorry, but I actually live here. Maybe you should 🎵go go go go gooo🎵!" The Oddish protested and stood its ground.

The bug sighed, and then continued. "Fine, I guess I'll make you." She then prepared for a Leech Life.

"Stay here, you little weed!" Spiden clicked her teeth, frustrated at the first Leech Life that didn't land because of the fog. The Oddish managed to wiggle away before having its full life being leeched. Then, the grass type returned with a Moon Blast. "🎵Oh no, oh no, oh no no no!🎵" The panicked at the garden Oddish cried out and sprayed some rapid grass growing seeds on the ground.

Then, the Ariados finally was able to locate the Oddish in this fog once again and leeched the life out of it. "Dance rehearsal's over." The weakened Oddish fled on its feet and ran away somewhere far away from this vicious spider.

Alex had finished reading a couple more plaques and plants when he stumbled upon a shop that was about to close, since it was evening and all. He ordered himself a sandwich to eat, because it's basically dinner time, so might as well enjoy a light dinner in this peaceful garden. He also got some extra vegetables from the shop owner as a treat for his Ariados.

While nibbling on his sandwich, he can't help but noticed something red and shiny tucked between thick leaves of plants on the ground. Flowers weren't this level of shiny and glimmering, and he wasn't sure what he was looking at. Once he finished biting his sandwich and disposed his trash in the nearest trash bin, he walked over to examine the subtle red glimmer. He pushed those fern leaves aside and found a red jar on the ground.

Well, if it's trash, this must be a brightly colored trash. However, once he picked it up, he felt weight in it, and figured there's something inside it. He wiped it clean and then tucked it away in his bag, making note to himself to look up what is this strange object.

His Ariados was casually nibbling on berries and fruits around her too. This garden just strangely have food for everyone! He stood and looked around while letting his Pokemon enjoying the berry snacks.

The Ariados was almost done nibbling her food when a dancing Kirlia appeared. She hissed at the Kirlia for disturbing her peaceful meal. The Ariados initially crawled over and tried to chase it away, but the humanoid Pokemon just moved around in smooth motions and evading the bug type's movement, while dancing like she wasn't there.

"Fine, you want to play this game? I can be suave too!" The bug screamed at the Kirlia, who was still ignoring it. The mindful psychic type needed to ignore the noise and practice its dancing, because screaming children and roaring crowd were a thing, a distracting thing to lose your tempo.

Then, Spiden danced and jumped in the air like she was dancing too, using her web or string spitting ability to move around the area, until she was close enough to struck the opponent with her thick abdomen! Alex watched, as he knew that he was neither athletic nor rhythmic. He'll likely trip on his toes and faceplant the garden ground trying to imitate it.

Spiden crawled forward and gave the Kirlia a strike from the shadow, startling it from its graceful movement. It did something, but it was too foggy for Spiden or Alex to see what it did. Whatever it did, it wasn't enough to hurt the cunning Ariados anyways. Then, Alex came over and caught a sight of the ongoing battle. "It's a Kirlia. Spiden, what's going on? Who's bothering who? I hope it's a misunderstanding with the ongoing fog..." He began to rationalize, but then he came across a thought that he did not have a Kirlia in his Pokedex, so he wanted to catch one just in case.

He hurled a Great Ball, and then watched the capture device sucked in the Kirlia in its routine. After a few wobbling wobbles, the Pokemon was successfully captured! He walked carefully in the dark to pick up the ball. Then, he needed to find his way back to where he left off reading those plaques. He thought he was on the part on why dancing or watching dancing was important for the director's ancestors...
