Angelus perched herself on the grass and let her feet just touch the shimmering surface of the pond lightly enough to cause a few ripples to spread. It distorted her curious, smiling face for a brief moment until the ripples died down.
Though her curiosity was piqued again as more ripples came spilling towards her from the other side of the pond. The Buneary's head turned up, her ribbon bouncing. Her amber-brown eyes sparkled as she saw the multitude of Shellos begin to slip into the water. They looked so funny to her young mind. It was tempting to slip in and swim over to them, just to touch...
But as she watched, the pond began to fill up with the little pink slugs, a few of them managing to crowd in right under her feet. Lifting them from the water, Angelus crouched down on her stomach and reached down with one paw, straining towards one.
She poked the squishy slug in the head and giggled happily, poking it some more until she noticed a lone Shellos crawl out of the pond and squirm towards her trainer. "Bun!" the rabbit cried, trying to alert the teenager. She then began to hop forwards rapidly, hoping to outrace the slug before it went psychotic and mauled her trainer.
Tanya, on the other hand, looked supremely unconcerned with everything for the moment. Her Pokédex beeped from her bag, propped next to her on the bench. Ignitus' head popped out with a sleepy chirp and a slight scowl from being awoken so rudely.
The girl grinned lazily and reached over to pat the Torchic on the head before reaching into her bag to retrieve the beeping device. Pulling it out, Tanya flipped it open and read the message quickly. From: @damienjordan Subject: Surprise! - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Hello Tanya, my darling spitfire! It's your old man. I know you're not fond of gifts, but I have a breeder friend who helps out at Violet City Gym. He told me he had a Skarmory he couldn't keep anymore, and I mentioned while talking to him that you were a trainer. I managed to convince him to give you the Skarmory if you went and saw him, so when you get a chance, go see this guy. He'll be waiting by the Gym with the Pokémon. Uh, he has jet-black hair with green streaks, and he usually wears a brown leather jacket and torn jeans. Goes by the name Fulton. Hope to hear back from you soon, and I also hope you like the gift too. ♥ from Dad - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Snapping the device shut, Tanya smiled ruefully. Her dad knew she didn't like to be spoiled, but he'd gotten her an opportunity to pick up one of her favourite Pokémon! She'd never turn something like this down. Whenever she visited the Pokémon Center next, she was going to write her dad an enormous, heartfelt thank-you reply and promise to bury her father under an avalanche of affection. Grinning to herself, Tanya barely noticed when the Shellos bumped into her leg.
Ignitus did, and he struggled out from the bag to land in Tanya's lap. The young Torchic cocked his head as he stared down at the little slug, peeping inquisitively. Then it sprayed the lounging teenager's leg with some water, sending him scurrying away from her lap and onto her shoulder to hide under a curtain of auburn.
Startled, Tanya yelped at the sensation of wetness on her leg and straightened up, looking down with a confused glimmer reflected in her emerald eyes. It was about this time Angelus appeared, panting madly, but looking fit for battle.
"Bun-eary!" she wheezed, jabbing a paw at the Shellos. The slug seemed to wonder if Tanya would move or something, judging by the way it was staring at her. The girl bent over to look at it and then smiled, standing up. She stepped away from the bench and to her left, but then pointed at the Shellos. It was cute, and perhaps she'd catch it if Angelus didn't make it go beserker on them all.
The Buneary seemed to sense her trainer's will to battle and began to smile eagerly, hopping forwards. "Surprise it with Pound," the red-haired girl quietly instructed her Buneary. Angelus sprang into the air a few feet off the ground with a paw raised. As gravity pulled her down over the Shellos, Angelus slammed her paw down, hoping to crack the slug across the back of the head while it wasn't paying attention.

Shellos blinked as it saw the bunny pokemon leap into the air. It suddenly connected in it's mind what was happening and quickly let off a slime that hardened as it touched the air. It glimmered seconds before the buneary landed her hit. The slug jiggled and shuttered,a soft squeal of pain accompanied the hit. Angelus hopped back with a surprised cry, holding out her paw. The fur on her paw was wet from the slime that covered the shellos, and it felt disgusting! Shaking her paw she backed away from the slug. Shellos raised his head, shaking his body to shake off the pain from the bunny pokemon's hit. Blinking Shellos narrowed its eyes. This slug was not happy. ~~~~~~~~~~~Battle!~~~~~~~~~~~Wild ShellosHealth: 89%status: That hurt you little bugger! defence+1attack: a successful Harden AngelusHealth: 100%status: ewwwwwww normalattack: a successful Pound

If she didn't already possess a decent Water type in her Buizel, she would have seriously considered catching the oddly cute Shellos. Even if it was pink, a too girly color for her. Angelus squealed in discomfort as she found slime sticking to her paw from her Pound attack.
Shaking it off, the distressed Buneary looked pleadingly at her trainer. Oh, she didn't really have to fight this thing anymore, did she? It was so gross!
Tanya raised a slender eyebrow at her Pokémon. She was the complete opposite of her trainer, overly dramatic and supremely girly. Through all that, though, was a graceful battler with a tendency for hissy fits. The girl sighed and pursed her lips as she stared down the Shellos.
Being pure Water type meant that Angelus' Ice Beam wouldn't be very effective, so that nullified that option. And the Buneary's other moves wouldn't be useful at the moment, so there was only Pound to rely on.
If Angelus just ignored the slime, she could even land a powerful hit and knock the Shellos out of the park. Or if things got too tough, she'd simply switch out the Buneary for someone who could really give the slug a thrashing. Tanya ran a hand through her mane of fiery hair and then cast her hand towards the Shellos, the other resting on her hip.
"Get over yourself, Angelus, and hit it again with Pound!" the girl ordered smoothly, ignoring her rabbit's cry of protest. Ignitus chirped from Tanya's shoulder, intrigued by the battle now that the imminent threat of water was away from him. Smiling, Tanya patted the fowl on the head. "Once she and Fiero have had their turn training, we're gonna train you up! I want you and Saphira evolved before we leave Violet City at least," she promised the young Torchic, who peeped happily in reply.
Of course, all that would wait until after the battle was over and she'd gone and retrieved the Skarmory her father had arranged for her. The mere thought of owning one of her favourite Pokémon made her heart race with excitement.
While she'd been thinking to herself, Angelus had been flailing for her attention and moaning about having to touch the disgusting creature again. "Bun..." she sighed to herself, chocolate brown eyes wavering as the focused on her opponent. Slimy, squishy, gross thing ...
But she would battle regardless of the situation. A determined glint appeared in her eyes as she began to hop forwards towards the pink Shellos, raising the same paw she'd used to smack it the last time. It was a gesture meant to draw the Shellos' eyes while one of the Buneary's ears, coiled against her skull, began to tense up. Drawing near, Angelus struck like a cobra.
One ear shot forwards like a spring-propelled jack-in-the-box, aiming to slam forwards into the slug's forehead. Maybe this would minimize coming into contact with the gross slime coating the creature's body.

Shellos didn't like that this thing was faster, it hadn't been able to use it's Harden before the rabbit had attacked it. So it had been in quite a bit of pain from that last attack, it wasn't gonna feel as much pain from this thing from now on at least, but it couldn't prevent the thing from attacking it through speed. So it'd have to mess with this thing enough that it can't attack. Luckily the Pokemon had plenty of moves to make sure that this shouldn't be an issue at all. But of course the rabbit started attacking first. Angelus was ready to use her attack, she just had to do the same thing over again so she ran at the Shellos, jumping into the air she headed right for the enemy once again. She slammed into it again as well, she knew she hit just as hard as last time, but the thing didn't seem to be bothered too much by her attack this time. That worried her, she knew that she hurt it again, so why did it seem to be in less pain then before? The Shellos wasted no time after this and used it's Water Pulse attack, sending it right toward the opposing Pokemon. It hit it's mark, and managed to do some decent damage to the rabbit. As well as causing her to become confused, the Shellos was very pleased with this result and smirked toward the Trainer as Angelus stumbled around, clearly having trouble moving around on her own and not even sure where her Trainer was. Nothing Angelus did seemed to be working much against the Shellos, which was irritating Tanya more than she liked to admit. Even with the type boost on her Buneary's side, the silly slug still managed to take her Pound attacks as if it were being thwacked by a downy pillow.
She gnawed her lip, wondering what to do next when the Shellos launched a Water Pulse at Angelus, causing the young rabbit to become confused.
The Buneary tottered uneasily on her feet, eyesight sliding in and out of focus. Tanya gritted her teeth and curled one hand into a fist out of her annoyance. There was too much risk Angelus would hurt herself in confusion than there was of her actually hitting her target. Even with her battle order scheduled out, there was a change being thrown in.
Ignitus watched with interest sparkling in his dark amber eyes as his teenage trainer rooted around through her bag on the bench behind her, pulling out a Great Ball with a cartoon sticker of an Amulet Coin on the top.
Smiling to herself over her little joke, Tanya swiftly plucked Angelus' ball from her pocket and recalled the Buneary faster than the rabbit could react.
"Okay Fiero, time to shine!" she said aloud as she gave the ball a good toss towards the pink slug. The Great Ball opened in a burst of light and sent her favourite feline into the fray. Looking supremely pleased, Fiero unsheathed his claws immediately before looking over his shoulders at his trainer.
Her emerald eyes danced mischievously as she pointed at his new foe. "Get it with Fake Out quick!" the girl called out in a breathless tone. She'd made the mistake once of not utilizing the pain in the ass move.
If only she'd thought to try it on Peter's Pidgey... maybe then Fiero could have managed a nifty win without suffering damage to his ego. Shaking her head, Tanya let the mistake slide as her Meowth began to charge forwards. A light peep from under a mane of red hair notified her of Ignitus being suffocated by it. She quickly brushed away her hair and offered Ignitus her hand, smiling as the Torchic happily hopped down.
He peeped as he snuggled into his trainer's loving embrace and enjoyed his ringside view of the battle.
Fiero was right on top of the Shellos now, and lunged towards its face with one paw held flat to make the slug flinch and stop it from wreaking havoc on him as he entered the battle.

A confused Buneary... oy, that's not a good thing! It doesn't matter what situation it is, having a confused Pokemon can often lead to a bad turnover! So after mulling it over for the briefest of moments, Tanya had chosen to call back Angelus and replace her with the Meowth, Fiero. Meanwhile, on Shellos's side of the field, it was charging up its next attack. When it was ready to launch it at its target, that's when a bunny was replaced with a kitty. With Fiero ready to attack, the first thing it was welcomed with overhead was a dopey Shellos ginning like an idiot as a big ol' stinking heap of mud came right for the Meowth. Fiero's reaction was probably something like "...well, shit." GLOMPIn a spectacular explosion of mud flying everywhere, Fiero was in the middle of it. When the blast faded off, the poor Meowth was covered in head to toe in dirty goop, trying to get the filth out of its eyes. Sadly, because of this, its accuracy was reduced. Fiero was fired up when it wiped off enough mud so it could at least see again. With Chuckles the Shellos watching with a wide open smile stuck on its face in mockery (or maybe it is always like that), the angered Meowth ran forward with claws extended. It was going to cut that *****! At the last moment, it remembered that Tanya had said to use Fake Out, so Fiero barely resisted the urger to just slash away. Smacking Shellos in the face with both paws at the same time, Shellos spun around in a slightly dizzy manner... ironically, it was still smiling even so. What an odd little critter. Still, thankfully, it wasn't able to get another attack in... even more thankfully, Fiero didn't miss its mark. (Note for mods; Fiero is now holding a Lucky Egg, so he will gain three levels upon defeat, and Angelus will gain one ~)
It was inherently amusing to watch Fiero get a giant mud ball tossed onto his head until a cascade of it slapped noisily all over her jeans. There was no girlish shriek torn from her very core to send the wild Pokémon (and her own) running from the scene, nor any groan of disgust.
Only a faint sigh as she let karma do its work. Obviously she couldn't even have a quick laugh at her Pokémon's expense. Iggy had gone rather crazy in her arms trying to escape the sudden onslaught of mud and ended up only giving the girl a dozen thin, stinging scratches all over her arms. Tanya patted Ignitus on the head to reassure him when she felt something bounce off of her boot.
Curious, the girl knelt down and gently plucked up an object from the mud that had a pretty white gleam to it, even covered in muck. Standing back to her full height, she gently wiped the layer of mud off of the surface and was left with a smooth, egg-shaped item in the center of her palm.
It looked vaguely familiar, and seemed to fill her with a sense of happiness. A knowing smile creased her lips as she recalled a memory of finding something like this long ago.
Before the incident in the Den, Clair had often allowed the kids of Blackthorn to witness battles in her gym. One battle Tanya had gone to see had left her with a red welt on her cheek after the combatants had started tussling and something flew off from one of them. The leader had strolled over and picked it up, apologizing profusely to the red haired youth.
Tanya had shrugged it off and asked what the thing was. "Oh this? It's a Lucky Egg. If a Pokémon holds it, they gain extra experience in battle," Clair had told her before returning to the fray.
In the present, the teenager stared at the small egg in her hands before grinning sheepishly. This would make her training just so much easier now. Setting Ignitus down, Tanya beckoned to the returning Fiero who was looking quite disgruntled.
The Meowth's amber eyes lit up as he studied the item in his trainer's hands. "I want you to keep a hold on this until the battle's over, alright? It's gonna help," she promised her cat before ruffling the fur on his head. Fiero took the Lucky Egg and settled it right behind the coin perched on his forehead. Giving his trainer a cocky smirk, the tawny cat turned around and walked forwards a few steps to face down the dopey-looking slug.
Now that it was back to the battle, Tanya scooped up her Torchic and retreated a little, just in case Fiero was sent flying. "Great work on that Fake Out. Now follow up with Scratch!" the mahogany haired girl called out.
Claws springing free, Fiero gave the smiling Shellos his best leer. Now he could finally cut the stupid thing up into itty bitty pieces. He took off at a rapid pace, eating up the distance between the two battlers in seconds. Leaping a short way into the air, the Meowth slashed down at his pink foe, aiming to scratch off that smile from its face.
His trainer watched with careful green eyes, wondering if the mud Fiero had gotten splashed in the eyes with would hamper his accuracy.

Fiero was rather happy to see that his move had been able to cause the enemy to flinch, it was such a shame that he couldn't use it again, he'd just need to settle for a normal back and forth Battle now, still he'd gotten a very nice hit in with that last Fake Out. Plus Scratch had never given him an issue in the past, it wasn't likely to start now, and he was still freshly into the Battle, he had plenty of energy left over even though the Shellos had gotten in a free hit on him. He wasn't about to let that thing gain the advantage just from that one hit, so he charged right at the Shellos, extending his claws as he ran. He'd hit the thing right on it's underside, where it lacked a shell to provide protection! Though thanks to hit having raised it's defense a while ago it didn't take as much damage as Fiero would have liked, but hey damage was damage. The thing then began to prepare it's own attack, another Mud-Slap of course, at least it wasn't that strong but that was the only good thing about it. Though Fiero didn't know that, he hadn't seen this thing long enough to be able to tell what it was doing, even if it had just hit him with this attack. So it flung the mud at him once again, just like the last time it wasn't really aimed but it was quite a lot of it. It had hit him once again, of course going into his eyes yet again, which wasn't to pleasant for the Meowth. Not only did it hurt, but his vision got even worse then it had been before! But he'd managed to recover as much as he could from this second attack and had wiped out most of it from his eyes, so he ran to Tanya to await his next orders while the Shellos watched him, in his blurry vision the thing seemed to be taunting him which was angering him to say the least. Even with a type boost on his attack, Fiero still barely left a dent in the slug's health. He hissed his displeasure, but quickly shut his mouth just before the Shellos slapped him in the face with more mud. This was starting to get repetitive and annoying as all hell. If he could see at all, he'd be shredding that slug into sushi.
Tanya pinched her nose with her left hand, biting down on the aggravated sigh that threatened to escape. Now that Fiero's accuracy had been dropped yet again, he'd have a tougher time landing a hit.
And going critical was out of the question. Tanya raised her head, peering through her bangs at the dopey looking Shellos before her Meowth. Green eyes narrowing, the girl lapsed into thought. She knew that with their oddly cute looks, and for the girliest girls, their pink coloration, that they were often in high demand for trades.
"If I catch you..." she muttered to herself, still gazing at the Shellos, despite Fiero's pawing at her leg. If she could capture it, then she could probably save herself the hassle of a battle lasting forever. Iggy peeped and slipped out of her arms to land beside Fiero, staring at the mud-covered kitty.
And then trade off the little slug and have it out of her hair, so to speak. She finally allowed a smile to cross her face, one that wasn't forcibly plastered on. The auburn haired teenager glanced down at her irritated, waiting Meowth and motioned for him to stay put. He crossed his arms and waited with a foot tapping against the ground as Tanya turned and walked the couple of steps over to her bag resting on the bench.
Pawing through it, Tanya retreived an empty Great Ball and hefted it out, rubbing the smooth surface of the blue, red, and white capture device. Grinning at her reflection, the girl spun on her heels and strode back over to where Ignitus and Fiero waited.
Tossing the ball in her palm, the trainer nodded to Fiero. He rolled his amber eyes but agreed with his owner's decision. It would be far easier to try and catch the Shellos now than wittle at its health like their usual capturing tactic.
"Okay, let's hope this works," Tanya murmured, kissing the Great Ball for good luck. Taking a step back, she raised one arm in the air and pointed it at her target, her other arm clutching the sphere tightly. Lining up to get a decent shot, probably. Ignitus pushed against Fiero's leg and ushered him out of the way, likely just not wanting to get a splashing of mud if the Shellos tried to launch a last ditch attack against the feline.
Tanya lifted her other arm and let it snap forwards, jerking her wrist, and let the ball fly. It went whistling through the air towards the pink slug, aiming to bonk it on the head and perhaps give her an edge in capturing it.
She began to speak soft prayers under her breath, heart beating anxiously in her chest. If this didn't work, then she could officially tell herself that she was screwed. If it did, then her first order of business would be to rush to the Pokémon Center and heal up Fiero and Angelus, then deposit Veleno into her PC so that she could pick up the Skarmory gift from her father's friend.
So much to do, riding on such a small amount of time.

The Great Ball sailed through the air straight towards the little, pink slug. "Los?" it managed to gasp before being engulfed in the ball. Of course, it wasn't going down without a fight so it began to struggle within the ball. The ball wiggled and wiggled until it was in a small hole in the earth. Then, the ball stopped and glowed a soft, white light. Shellos had been captured Congratulations! You captured Wild Shellos (Level 11)

(Hey, people can never grow up in Pokémon, why can't Great Balls transform? Also - Lucky Egg will be placed on Ignitus now ~)
Shellos Name: Maidaro Gender: Female Level: 11 Attacks: Mud Bomb, Water Pulse, Mud Slap, Harden Ability: Storm Drain Nature: Jolly Personality: Maidaro is the most cheerful Pokémon ever. She has a constant smile on her face and tends to keep it there no matter what happens. Perhaps just a little bit thick in the head, Maidaro has a strong spirit and an aptitude for battling.
Tanya cheered as the ball stopped moving. It vanished in a flicker of light right at the same time her Pokédex beeped. She pulled it from her pocket, where she'd stowed it earlier, and flipped it open with a sigh. 'Maidaro', as she christened the Shellos, was transported to her PC because her team was full, blah blah blah.
Fiero flexed his arms and meowed in appreciation of the gain in strength he felt. The feline walked over to Tanya and pulled down the Lucky Egg from its resting place, handing it over to her without a fight.
"Thanks bud! Now I can hanker down on the training. I'll get Iggy done next, and then this Skarmory before I take on Falkner. A Steel type would be a hell of an advantage," she said to herself, recalling the now tuckered Meowth back into his ball. The girl walked over to her bag and started to zip it up before Ignitus peeped at her ankle.
Smiling, Tanya knelt down and offered her palm to the young Torchic. He hopped up and peeped again before he jumped into her bag. Nestling down, his head just showed over the brim of the bag.
Leaving the top half of her bag unzipped, she put one arm through a strap and hoisted it onto her shoulder before walking down the gravel path back towards the busy city. The afternoon sun had sunk down, casting a pinkish orange glow over the city. It was still light enough that Tanya guessed it was just after midday, giving her plenty of time for the tasks she still had to do.
15 minutes later she was strolling into the Pokémon Center again, passing over Angelus' and Fiero's balls to the nurse before propping herself down at a PC. First thing she did was send off a reply to her father, laden down with a multitude of thanks.
After that, Tanya placed Veleno's Poké Ball on a slot on the machine and sent him to her box with a twinge of guilt. But now she'd have room for her Skarmory at least. As she was browsing, her eyes lingered on the newest addition to her team. Tanya rose up and walked over to the counter and rang a bell to grab the distracted nurse's attention.
Nurse Joy walked over with a pleasant expression. "Yes dear?" she inquired politely. "I have something I'd like you to do. I just caught this pink Shellos, and I don't really need it at the moment. Can you put out an ad for me after I type it up so that anyone who might want one in the area is notified?" Tanya asked lightly, watching the facial features of the pink haired matron.
To her enormous relief, the nurse nodded. "I can have you fill it out here if you're done with the PC," she told the teenager kindly. Mahogany hair bouncing as she skipped over to the PC, Tanya finished up what she was doing and logged out, grabbing her bag and returning to the counter.
Filling out the ad, Tanya pondered what to write. As she raised the pen, Nurse Joy held out a hand. "Do you have a phone of any sort?" the woman asked. Tanya nodded, and the nurse informed her that she could have it arranged that offers could be sent as messages to her phone. Giving the nurse her number, the teenager continued to pen down her ad. To any Trainer interested: Subject: Shellos West for Trade I recently captured a pink Shellos, or to be correct, a Shellos West. I already have a Water type, and I find myself in no need of this happy little bugger. Maidaro is friendly as can be, and has proven to me that she is a decent battler, so anyone coming into her ownership will be lucky indeed! Message me if you are interested in trading or purchasing her, as I will be in town for the next few days at least. I look forwards to hearing from ya! -- Tanya Jordan Finishing up, Tanya handed the ad and the pen back to the nurse and received her fully healed Pokémon in return. The girl stored them away and slipped her bag back on. "I'll make sure your ad gets out there. Thank you!" Nurse Joy said with a cheery smile.
Bidding adieu, the girl exited the Center and stretched her arms, enjoying the balmy temperature. Melting into pedestrian traffic, she walked for at least a half hour before the Gym finally came into site.
Tanya paused at the crosswalk until the lights changed, then strolled across the street and angled herself towards the building. As she drew closer, her emerald eyes caught sight of a figure leaning against a tree near the gym, lounging casually. She subtly listed to her right and studied the figure out of the corner of her eyes. He was dressed in a very worn brown leather jacket, jeans, and had black hair streaked with lime green.
This had to be Fulton. Tanya steeled her nerves and walked directly towards him. Sensing something, the man looked up, his brown eyes crinkling as a smile stretched across his weathered face. "Aah, look how big you've gotten Tanya! Damien's gonna have a heart attack. You certainly grew up gorgeous," Fulton said amicably, stretching out his arms to envelop the teenager in a bear hug. As he crushed her, she distinctly caught a whiff of birds against his coat and body and wrinkled her nose. She'd had enough of that smell for one day.
Drawing back once he released her, the girl smiled brightly. To be honest, she didn't really recall Fulton from her father's friends that had visited their home, but that didn't mean she had to act like that. "Good to see ya too, Fulton. My dad said you had a Pokémon for me?" Tanya asked brightly, eyes glittering.
Fulton nodded, drawing a Poké Ball from a pocket on his coat. He stared at the sleek surface, looking somewhat troubled. "Yeah, I do, but I worry if this guy will be too much trouble for you. He can be kind of a rough customer, if you know what I mean," the older man said in a rough, biker-esque voice.
This drew a mischievous glint into her gemstone eyes. "Oh please. I have a kleptomaniac Meowth and a Charmander with fear issues. I can handle a mean Skarmory. It's one of my favourite Pokémon after all," she replied in light tones.
Looking mildly surprised, Fulton handed over the ball containing Tanya's newest addition. He surprised her next by giving her three Rare Candies and a TM for the move Dig. "Pretend they're really late birthday presents," he said with a conspiratorial wink. Putting the gifts in her bag, Tanya thanked Fulton and was beginning to turn away when he spoke out.
"Wait a tic, kid. You have somewhere to stay the night?" he asked in a concerned voice. She paused, cupping her chin with her right hand. "Not yet," the girl replied, twirling a strand of reddish-brown hair around her fingers.
Her father's friend smiled. "You can stay at my place for the night. I'll be gone on a trip for the next few days, so if you're hanging around, go there. It's clean, there's plenty of food, and the landlord doesn't care if Pokémon run around. Just make sure to lock up after you leave for the day. If you leave town before I'm back, just slip the key in an envelope and shove it in the mailbox. I'll find it," Fulton offered. His kindness stunned the girl into speechlessness for a few moments as she tried to find her voice.
When she did, it was still rather breathless. "You'd do that? Wow! Thanks dude!" Tanya said with a startled expression still visible on her face. Fulton handed her the key and then walked off towards the city, leaving her to stand alone by the Gym.
Tanya sighed out, green eyes shining. It was still early, so she would do some training before heading over to the Trading Center before crashing for the night. Plan in mind, Tanya stared at the ball containing her new Pokémon. She pressed the button on the front and let out the Skarmory.
Shining a bright silver, the steel bird blinked his fierce yellow eyes against the sun before turning his piercing gaze on the auburn haired teenager standing beside him. "Starscream," she began slowly, watching him blink once in reply. He liked the name at least. "I'm Tanya. I'll be your new trainer. You'll be seeing plenty of battles and new places with me, so don't worry about anything. I'll take good care of you," Tanya pledged to the bird.
She watched his face hesitantly, wondering if he would reach out and like, rip out her eyes. Instead, Starscream leaned over and clucked her chin with the tip of his sharp beak in an affectionate manner.
Maybe Fulton was wrong, Tanya thought with a giggle before patting the Skarmory's cheek gently. He didn't seem like a nasty Pokémon to her. She recalled the Skarmory and then pocketed his ball, walking away from the Gym and back, once more, to the park. It was time to give Ignitus his battle opportunity.

After his long day of picnics and finding the right place to set up camp for the night, Camper Roland was getting pretty tired and found himself easily angered. This was a confusing time for him and so it was exhausting regulating hormones and his developing body. He was getting more than slightly confused by his crush on Falkner, the male gym leader of the town.
So, against his best wishes, he felt himself being drawn towards the Violet City Gym. As he walked along the very long road from his house to the Gym, Roland couldn't help but notice something dazzling in the distance: a Skarmory. Well, jealousy was truly panging now. What use did a girl have for such an amazing pokémon? He couldn't subject it to this woman's training.
Before he could stop Tanya and free the Skarmory from her, however, she seemed to start walking away again, towards the park. So, going by a shortcut he knew, Roland ran towards the park and arrived moments after Tanya.
"You!" he puffed at her. "You. Battle. Me!" he puffed again. "I win. You give me Skarmory."
Camper Roland challenges you to a pokémon battle for your Skarmory!
And you thought Bird Keeper Peter was bad? xD

(At least Roland doesn't think she should bow to his feet and go make him a sandwich!)
As Tanya walked, Ignitus stuck his head out of her bag again, the Lucky Egg precariously balanced on his head. Gone unnoticed by his trainer, the Torchic began to wiggle his way out, forgetting he was several feet off the ground.
He was nearly out when he toppled over, falling from the bag. The fowl struck the pavement just before the Lucky Egg did. It bounced off of him and went rolling down the path and away from Tanya. "Chiiic!" Ignitus peeped, scrambling to his feet and running after the fleeing item.
Tanya's gemstone eyes widened as she saw what occurred and was beginning to chase after her Pokémon when she heard a boy's voice accost her from out of the blue.
Turning with a scowl on her usually cheerful face, the girl fixed a rather intimidating glare on the boy. He was ignorant and arrogant, and assumed that he could just take her Skarmory from her. Instead of keeping to her usual mantra of giving people their space, the auburn haired female strode right up to the boy and stared intensely into his face.
"No! Listen here, tiny. That's not how it works. If you, by some Arceus forsaken miracle, actually beat me , I still wouldn't give you Starscream. Like he'd actually listen to some kid barely out of his diapers! He was a gift, and I'd sure as heck like to see Fulton's face when he comes after you for even thinking that I'd consider battling for my Skamory!" she hissed at him. Her temper hadn't been on its best terms today, especially considering most of the male race was hellbent on murdering her mood.
She backed away, still huffy as her eyes sparked with uncharacteristic anger. "Tell you what. I'll battle you for kicks. If I win, get out of my sight before I let Starscream loose on you," Tanya said in a less hostile tone.
Anger wasn't an emotion she was particularly fond of, given that it tended to make her lose focus in battles. She looked down at her feet to see an exhausted, heavily panting Ignitus standing by her boots. Bending down, Tanya plucked the dirt-smeared Lucky Egg up and bound it with a loose thread from her jeans. With nimble fingers she tied it around Iggy's neck, where it hung loosely against the downy fur. It wouldn't last forever, but it could hold for one battle.
The Torchic peeped in curiosity. His trainer looked down at him with a determined smile. "This knucklehead thinks he can take me, Ignitus. Let's show him that girls like me shouldn't be trifled with!" Tanya told him.
Face brightening, Ignitus hopped forwards, sneezing embers out on the ground to show he was ready. Backing up, Tanya plastered a forced smile onto her face and held out her palm towards Roland.
"Now prep yourself with Focus Energy, darling!" she called out confidently, resisting her signature hand flick. The Torchic nodded and closed his eyes, his body briefly enveloped in a white glow as he focused intently, boosting his ability to inflict a critical hit.

When the girl had said something about her Skarmory not listening to a kid just out of his diapers, Roland was shocked to say the least! "Mom said that people aren't supposed to make fun of me for that and that it's normal! How long have you not been wearing diapers?! YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO TALK ABOUT IT EITHER WAY!" he said, thinking that he'd made a clever comeback by asking how long she'd been off diapers. He then grabbed his Nidoran's Pokeball and threw it to release the Pokemon. "Alright Nidoran, I want you to teach her a lesson by using your Poison Sting on her puny little chicken. We'll show her why she should hand over the Skarmory to the better Trainer and why her chicken never should have come out of that egg!" He says before his Nidoran jumps ahead and charges right at the Torchic, intent on goring the poor tiny bird. He crashed into the Torchic, stabbing Ignitus in the gut, but luckily not causing a lasting poison effect to the "chicken". Ignitus then began to focus his energies into his attack power, so as to cause greater damage when he actually attacked, he was using his Focus Energy just like he'd been told to. Luckily he was able to remain concentrating even with the pain, the lack of blood leaking out of his wound helped to. The nice thing about Poison-Types is that they didn't promote bleeding. The two Pokemon then went back to their Trainers to await further orders. BattleNidoran♂ | Level 13| Health : 100%Status : Normal Attack : A successful Poison Sting. Ignitus | Level 12| Health : 86%Status : Normal; Focused on Critical Hits Attack : A successful Focus Energy.

Tanya couldn't help it - she let out a snort of laughter when the boy began overreacting to one thing she happened to mention. "I'm 17, you little tyke. I haven't worn diapers since I was two!" she retorted, giving him an extremely arrogant looking smile.
It was true, though it wasn't because she learned how to use the toilet. The real reason lingered on her lips, but this was information best kept to herself.
Ignitus looked supremely offended when the boy proceeded to insult him by saying he should have never hatched. "Torchic tor tor tor chi! CHIC!" the fowl replied, huffing at Roland. He was born with a fiery spirit, and no mortal instrument could hold him forever! The Torchic let his beady black eyes fall onto the pointy purple creature that came out before him.
When it gored him with its horn, Ignitus let out a stream of noises that sounded suspiciously like cussing. Tanya's eyes narrowed as a look of disappointment crossed her face.
Maybe she'd have to limit the time he spent around Fiero, who seemed to be the most articulate of her group. The cat had a bad knack for hissing and spitting in battle, and usually by the looks on Saphira's face when she was around, what he was doing was the Pokémon equivalent of spewing profanities.
She had her own word for cussing, and it fell off her tongue without conscious thought. "Dios," she intoned quietly, though she wasn't frustrated or upset.
Pure habit, she reminded herself. There was plenty of things that came as second nature to her. She looked down her nose at the Poison type and then down to Ignitus. Obviously she knew what tactic she was going with for this battle. As if sensing his trainer's wishes, Iggy began dancing on the spot in eagerness.
Green eyes sparkling with her renewed determination, Tanya lifted her gaze to Roland's face and let a true, fierce smile light her face up. "Ignitus darling, I'm feeling a little cold," the girl began, brushing her heavy, mahogany colored hair off her shoulder with a flick of her fingers. She loved drawing out the moment, upping the pressure and whatnot.
"Let's crank the furnace, then! Flamethrower, stat!" Tanya called out in a playful voice, flicking her hand at Roland's Pokémon.
Peeping in affirmation, Ignitus took a step forwards and leaned back slightly. The flame sac in his body was already heating up quickly, and the scorching flames were licking up his throat and begging to be released. Opening his beak wide, the Torchic peeped again before leaning forwards and painting the air with orange and yellow hues as fire scorched out.
It jumped in a straight, direct stream at the Nidoran M before him, aiming to engulf the Poison type in a cocoon of blistering fire.
