As seen in Black & White 2, there is a lot of Pokemon getting alternate forms but this begs the question. Is giving a Pokemon alternate forms alright? I remember when the first Pokemon to get such forms was introduced, in the form of Deoxys and it seemed like a cool gimmick at first. But then more and more Pokemon started getting it in Gen IV and Gen V has run away with the biscuit tin.
In all honesty, i'm not too bothered by them but some alternate forms seem like legitimate attempts to try and cash in more the markets. Shaymin's Sky Form to me still looks ridiculous and almost akin to that of a Sonic reject character. And then there's Keldeo. Its new form is absolutely ridiculous. At least the saving grace for some other alt. Pokemon forms is the fact they gain a new redistribution of stats but this one is purely a cosmetic change so long as it holds a special event move. From a competitive stand point, this is ridiculous and makes it all too obvious at least one of the moves Keldeo is carrying.
So what are people's feelings on them?

I agree completely with the Keldeo point, not only does the new form look horrible, but its a big give away to opponents to atleast one of his moves. Some purely cosmetic ones like Giratina are fine. Atleast some like Rotom and Deoxys have actual uses like raised stats or an extra type added.

Actually Giratina's form change isn't purely cosmetic.. its stats shift into offense. That bulk the Another form has, in both defenses and HP, change with the form, becoming more offensive with less HP.
Keldeo and Shaymin I don't give a flying crap about.
I like a few different forms for aesthetic reasons (LAWN ROTOM <3, the Kami Trio's Therian forms) but they really are going heavy-handed on the whole concept. A few Pokémon here and there were fine, but now form changing is so common place it has lost its value.

don't forget cherim, deerling, sawbuck, castform, and a few others.
maybe nintendo is trying to test out the limit of NDS hardwares lol. or maybe they wanted to try it since RBY haha
really, they should just make a game where there's all 600+ pokemon, with gender differences, AND form differences

Thank you Latani, I had no idea that Giratina's stats actually changed with the form too. I used to use in in soul silver, most not of noticed any of his stats changing while i switched forms back and forth. Also lawn rotom is amazing!
