Recruiting ModeratorsOnce again I am looking for new staff members to replace those who have left or to fill in for those that are absent. This is intentionally designed to coincide with the introduction of the new Reward System for Moderators so it would be wise to read that thread as well to learn about the new benefits for Moderators. The criteria for selection remains the same and you must have been at the site for long enough to be able to moderate and actively manage the site. However, the expectations that once seemed heaped on Moderators are no longer there and it is no longer an obligation for Mods to reply to any threads at all! To see the reasoning behind this, please read the thread on Mod Rewards. I expect that the new type of Moderators will work on a casual basis, receiving commission for their work in the form of Mod Points and envisage the day where almost all of the experienced members of this site will be participating in a little moderating in some shape or form. As before, the recruitment process occurs in 3 phases: Phase 1:A simple application which does not have to be long or fancy. Simply post beneath and address each of the dot points: - Why do you want to be a Moderator at ZapdosZulu?
- Are you an active member of this site and do you have some understanding of the rules and procedures of the site to be able to moderate threads?
- Have you had any past experience as a staff member on another roleplaying site or have you taken up a role of responsibility in the past?
Phase 2:Involves a simple test to make sure you are familiar with all the roleplaying rules and most importantly understand how our Battle System works. You can sit the test here: zapdoszulu.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=teststaff&action=display&thread=354Please begin this test only when I have responded to your application (Phase 1). Also note that although accuracy is preferred, the test is more of a learning phase and we will expect you to make mistakes or forget things so it is not a requirement to be 100% accurate. Phase 3:Finally, once you have completed the test, there will be a short probationary period where you will be given the title of "Trainee Mod". You will be introduced into the "real world" and will be allowed to mod anyone's thread just to see if you consistently meet the activity requirements. When this period is over, you will have full Moderator status.
Although this is a vigorous recruitment process to ensure that in the future our Moderators are active and possess the vital skills, this should not discourage you in anyway from applying. As this site is still in a development stage, there will be opportunities for fast promotion as well as an opportunity to design some elements of the rp. There are other numerous benefits available to staff such as a free residence/house, possibly exclusive items and Pokemon as well having inside knowledge about secret events to come. If you have any questions at any stage of the recruitment process, then feel free to ask me or a current staff member.

Why do you want to be a Moderator at ZapdosZulu? The reasons are threefold: 1. There are few active moderators during what would be the peak period for the UK (my county of residence) and so I could reply to those unfortunate people that live here and can't get any thread modding because of the time zones. 2. There has been a large boom in users for this site and thus there would be a need for new moderators. 3. I enjoy writing and so I would like to be able to write while waiting for other moderators to reply to my thread. Are you an active member of this site and do you have some understanding of the rules and procedures of the site to be able to moderate threads?I am very active, I have been on this site basically every afternoon, evening and night since 2 days before signing up that I have had access to the internet. As was mentioned above, I was on this site 2 days before signing up. What was I doing for those first 2 days? Reading and re-reading the rules and familiarising myself with the RP. I even had the rules threads saved onto my iPod for whenever I was offline (of course, that iPod is broken but they will resume their position once my mother bothers to ring John Lewis to get them to replace it).
Have you had any past experience as a staff member on another roleplaying site or have you taken up a role of responsibility in the past? No, unfortunately, this is my first RP. I'm unsure whether this will be taken into account but I have been a moderator of forums before and am writing a fic so I at least write about pokémon journeys in my spare time. Hope that this will even be glanced over let alone accepted. Thanks for reading this far!

Why do you want to be a Moderator at ZapdosZulu?
I enjoy helping people mostly and I saw how many new members have joined and how hard it was for the other staff to stay caught up so my 'need to help' instincts kicked in.
Are you an active member of this site and do you have some understanding of the rules and procedures of the site to be able to moderate threads?
I will be very active since I am homeschooled and on almost 24/7. I do understand the rules of the site and how to mod threads that need to be modded.
Have you had any past experience as a staff member on another roleplaying site or have you taken up a role of responsibility in the past?
I have been staff on many other sites ranging from Naruto to Harry Potter to Pokemon to Original, etc etc etc.

♠ Why do you want to be a Moderator at ZapdosZulu? - Help manage the influx of new members with the release of HGSS
- Waste my free time
- Allow other mods more free time (preferably to help me xP)
- Expand my interest in the site
- Deal with all those empty topics posted up; I dislike seeing topics with no or few responses, especially with a long time frame
♠ Are you an active member of this site and do you have some understanding of the rules and procedures of the site to be able to moderate threads? Well, I only registered yesterday but I've spent more than several hours online. I've gone over the rules, glanced around and I have a grasp of how the system works. I can always review the topics you posted as well as ask. But I believe Phase 2 was also a learning curve. ♠ Have you had any past experience as a staff member on another roleplaying site or have you taken up a role of responsibility in the past? Yes, during the various amount of forums I used to frequent I've been granted moderator status whenever I applied, although those are few and far between. Normally I only apply when the site needs it. Lead Moderator: Pokemon Valley small but successful pokemon roleplay Pokemon Phantasia died after a few weeks of creation Moderator:Shinobi Chronicles very successful Naruto board that got hacked Megaman EXE RPG most successful forum I've ever seen; six years running and over twenty active members note: requested demotion to avoid ensuing e-drama

Everyone's application has been reviewed and accepted. Although a few of you have literally only joined a few days ago and have only posted a dozen or so times, I have decided that the current demand for Moderators justifies this decision. This policy, however, might change for future applicants. You can each find your respective test in the Test sub-board: zapdoszulu.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=teststaffBecause we are haven't had very long to get to know you, we will be extending the probationary period until we learn a bit about your personality. During this time, I will ask you to moderate a few "real" threads and I will make a final accessment based on what I have seen. Note that you can begin to earn Mod Points even during this period. Good luck and feel free to ask any of the staff for guidance and advice.

Why do you want to be a Moderator at ZapdosZulu?
The influx of new members on the site means much more work for the current mods! They already have so much to do, so I'd like to help them out by lessening their workload. I've been a mod on a different site before, so I know that being a moderator is a responsibility that should be taken seriously. My goal is to help the members on the site enjoy their experience by assisting them with their roleplay needs. Plus, being a mod would make my activity go way up, and help me deal with the free time I have online that goes nowhere.
Are you an active member of this site and do you have some understanding of the rules and procedures of the site to be able to moderate threads?
I'm online about 6 out of 7 days of the week, so I am decently active. Most of my online time is spent on ZZ, and I've been a member long enough to grasp the rules and procedures on the site. I quite enjoy the way moderation is performed on here, and I believe I can do a decent job with it, given the opportunity for practice of course! I'm online in the evenings, but I can still do a fair bit of work or posting even without a lot of time to work with.
Have you had any past experience as a staff member on another roleplaying site or have you taken up a role of responsibility in the past?
I have indeed been a staff member before. Whilst that site was different from this one, the role remains the same. I was a mod on that site for close to 3 years, and I modded several rather active forums on said site. The site, Supercheats, is where I was a moderator, and most mods I spoke to on there said I did a good job. It might be a small chunk of experience, but it taught me alot.

Why do you want to be a Moderator at ZapdosZulu? Anytime I join a site I always feel guilty because I am a naturely impatient person, but I've been a mod and admin enough times to know that it is annoying for people to be impatient, even if they aren't trying to be. I would really love to be able to mod for two good reasons. 1- I am by nature a speed roleplayer. This doesn't mean I make short posts every two minutes. What it means is that I love to rp and because of that love I have had a lot of rping experience which allows me to come up with creative replies quickly, yet that aren't skimpy and which can lead to many things. Also, if I am waiting between moddings of my own thread I like to be modding for someone else so that I feel I have been fair and because I get bored between my posts and I have no life besides homework.
2- I love to mod. I like to be creative in how moves effect pokemon or in how they use them. I also love to be able to help out a member when they haven't had anyone reply to their new thread in even just a few hours.
Are you an active member of this site and do you have some understanding of the rules and procedures of the site to be able to moderate threads? I have only been on this site for a few days, so I'll understand if you want me to wait a little longer before applying, but I have been browsing the threads and keep wanting to be able to help out in a lot of them. I also noticed the thread in which you mentioned the "growing pains" and I myself as a new member am a part of those growing pains which makes me want to help ease the "pain". Don't worry though, I don't feel obligated to mod because I am a new member, I really just want to be able to mod. I don't even care about the mod points, personally if I do become a mod I probably won't keep track of those reward points xD, mainly because I tend to mod a lot of threads, which would make keeping track of the points a little annoying when I could be modding someone's thread.
As for understanding of the procedures and battle system, I think I get them very well. It is a good and easy to understand battle system, though I may have trouble remembering to level pokemon when a pokemon is caught at first, I think I'll be able to get the hang of it quickly as I am a fast learner. I hope that any misunderstandings about the way the modding works would be easily caught in the test thread and I'd be able to be corrected quickly before they become habit. I have already read through a few of the successful and in progress testings to see some common mistakes and have listed them in my mind as things not to do. I do ask for your patients though if there is something I do not understand, but for the most part I think I get it fairly well! ^-^
Have you had any past experience as a staff member on another roleplaying site or have you taken up a role of responsibility in the past? I have had many modding and administrating experiences in my near seven years of Rping on proboards based Rp sites. I have two examples of such that I am currently active on, but which are much slower sites then this one which could use some more help.
My Own Site I recently opened this site, which is my own personal Pokemon RPG. It is currently in a growing stage of its own, yet I have still found I have time for the other site I am modding and for it as well as free time. This is a good example of my administrative skills, but not yet of my moderation skills.
The site I mod for. On this site I have been a mod for three months now. The site is slow but active. I have modded or am modding a good half of the current active threads and as far as any of the members have told me they say I am a fair mod. Though I think the boards are protected from being viewed by guests I can quote one of my moderations of a thread if you would like a hard copy example of my modding style. However the entire style of that site is very different from this one's so the modding styles would slightly differ from there to here.
~Thanks for patiently reading my app! If you would prefer for me to wait until I've been here a little longer, I completely understand. Once again, thank you.

Thanks for your interest in this position and after reviewing it, your application was successful. You may sit your test here: zapdoszulu.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=teststaff&thread=1179Fluffy will be the last intake for now. I want to have the new batch of Mods trained and ready to go by the end of the week before I access where we are at. Members may still apply but your application may be placed on a waiting list henceforth.

New positions have now opened up for whoever may be interested. I'm looking for around 8-10 active Moderators in the lead up to my mass advertising campaign and I feel we currently have around 4-6. Even if we don't get the amount of interest for the Moderator position I will still try and increase our member base as that would be the key to maintaining interest in our site as well as interest in the Moderator position.

Are you an active member of this site and do you have some understanding of the rules and procedures of the site to be able to moderate threads?Yes
Have you had any past experience as a staff member on another role playing site or have you taken up a role of responsibility in the past? I have been a J.R Mod., Mod.,Global Mod., and Bio approver.

# Why do you want to be a Moderator at ZapdosZulu?
I want to be a Moderator, mostly because It gives me joy to see that I've helped someone else. And I know thats a selfish reason but. . . I can't deny it. I'm usually on all the time, except for school. But on weekends and holidays I am usually glued to my computer screen.
# Are you an active member of this site and do you have some understanding of the rules and procedures of the site to be able to moderate threads?
Yes,
# Have you had any past experience as a staff member on another roleplaying site or have you taken up a role of responsibility in the past?
Yes, I was a co-Admin on Cats of the Gems and I try to make it to at least mod status on every roleplay site I frequently go on.

- Why do you want to be a Moderator at ZapdosZulu?
I have one reasons why I want to become a moderator at Zapdos Zulu. I love the people here. I have only been here a few days, but I have had the chance to meet a lot of amazing people. I want to be able to give back to this community, and becoming a mod is the best way I could help improve the community of this role play.
- Are you an active member of this site and do you have some understanding of the rules and procedures of the site to be able to moderate threads?
Although I have only joined Zapdos Zulu four days ago, I have been extremely active. Even though most of my posts are in the discussions forums, this will be my seventy-sixth post. When I am not posting some where in the forums, I am reading the rules or chatting on the c-box. I have read all the rules multiple times, and I feel like I have a firm grasp of the rules.
- Have you had any past experience as a staff member on another roleplaying site or have you taken up a role of responsibility in the past?
I have never been a staff member on another role playing site before, I have been a dungeon master on many occasions. Although I have been a dungeon master for three years now. I feel like this is important because in many ways the roles of the mods and a dungeon master are very similar. In any role playing system, the leader has to help guide a player towards their goals. The leader also has to make sure that the player's path is challenging, but not impossible.
I would like to thank you ahead of time for reading my application.
