Hey folks, thanks to school and life claiming some of our staff, we've decided to hold another round of staff employment. Don't think this will be all ribbons and cake though, since there's a fair bit we require out of the staff we choose to take on. So you must read every last line of this post before you even think of copying down the employment form. We take staff employment seriously, so please read everything before you even think of applying.
The first thing you need to know is that you have to be a member of the site for three weeks in order to apply. This is to make sure that people actually grasp our moderating style and have some dedication towards the site. It's ideal that you're active, perhaps coming on every day (not totally necessary, but it earns you brownie points!) barring offline issues.
Once you're green-lighted to take the test, a thread will be made in the Test board located in the Announcements with your name. Read everything over carefully and listen to the advice mods give you, because it will help you do well and pass. Once you've completed the test, you will be promoted to Trainee Mod and given a probationary period to perform actual moderation on threads! If you are able to remain active and post often (not for yourself, of course! Your thread takes a back-burner to moderating), you will be notified of your probation period ending and will be promoted to full-time moderator.
At times, moderating can be quite tedious so your commitment will be vital. If you really want to become a staff member, we would really like to stress activity. If you know you can't make at least one post a day or come on daily, make sure you double-check your priorities before applying, since we need active mods to help with the workload.
However, to help ease things up and reward staff for their efforts, we have a Moderator Rewards Scheme in place. For each thread you moderate, you will earn a mod point and after collecting so many, they may be exchanged for some exclusive prizes. Trainee Mods may claim points as well, so don't be afraid to pipe up!
The recruitment process occurs in three phases.
Phase 1 A simple application which does not have to be long or fancy. Simply post beneath and address each of the bullet points. Please do more than a few scant sentences though.
- Why do you want to be a Moderator at ZapdosZulu?
- Are you an active member of this site and do you have some understanding of the rules and procedures of the site to be able to moderate threads?
- Have you had any past experience as a staff member on another roleplaying site or have you taken up a role of responsibility in the past?
- Do you have any additional skills that could be useful in developing the site?

Phase 2 Involves a simple training/probation period to make sure you are familiar with all the roleplaying rules and most importantly understand how our Battle System works. A staff member will arrange a Test if they accept your application. This test will be a learning phase, so don't worry if you make a mistake. You will be guided through the entire process so just do your best.
Phase 3 Finally, once you have completed your test, there will be a short probation period where you will be given the title of Trainee Moderator and a coloured name. You will be allowed to moderate real threads and will be watched closely by our staff team. If you meet the activity requirements and make a good impression, you will then receive your full Moderator status.
Although this is a vigorous recruitment process to ensure that in the future our Moderators are active and possess the vital skills, this should not discourage you in any way from applying. There will be some great opportunities to design some elements of the site. If you have any additional skills, such as graphics, then we'd love to hear from you.
There are numerous benefits other than the rewards scheme. Staff will have some inside knowledge about secret events to come. If you have any questions on the topic, feel free to ask one of our Administrators or Global Moderators.

- Why do you want to be a Moderator at ZapdosZulu?
- Are you an active member of this site and do you have some understanding of the rules and procedures of the site to be able to moderate threads?
I have been here for a long time, and understand the procedures of the site. As I have already been a trainee mod before I know what is required of me. At the time I was simply to busy in my regular life to continue moderating at the time. My life is now more stable and would like to continue my work as a moderator for this site if you will have me.
- Have you had any past experience as a staff member on another roleplaying site or have you taken up a role of responsibility in the past?
I have been a trainee mod on this site before and had a blast doing it. I would like a chance to continue that and become a full mod. I love to create story and help others make their story. I have moderated other sites, and even had other rp sites none as big and popular as this, but I have experience in such things. Also not so much a site, but I am a Dungeon Master in D&D with my friends.
- Do you have any additional skills that could be useful in developing the site?
I love brainstorming, and I enjoy doing art so yes I believe I could help make the site a better place and continue with the moderation and story of the site.

- Why do you want to be a Moderator at ZapdosZulu?
I think it would be a fun experience to mod threads for people. While i think it would be fun, I still know that being in this position requires a lot of work, and dedication.
- Are you an active member of this site and do you have some understanding of the rules and procedures of the site to be able to moderate threads?
When I first joined I was extremly active, logging on literally every day for hours on end. Eventually I was swept up in real life and co-running a site with a close friend of mine. While I was busy with those, i still popped into good ol ZZ every now and then to check up on people. Not that my site is getting out of the first stages, and no longer needs much help from me setting it up. (I had to design the combat system, a few pages of spells, weapon enchatments, and setting up site shops.) I have more free time for other sites, which I plan to spend most of said free time on ZZ. Ive been back for about a week now, and have been online constantly just like before. I think I have a pretty good understanding of the rules and procedures of the site, I actually have the "How To Play" section's threads individually bookmarked for easy access.
- Have you had any past experience as a staff member on another roleplaying site or have you taken up a role of responsibility in the past?
As I said in the last question im currently admining a small rp site (About 20 people all together). And I have also GM'ed for a few other sites for fun. One example is a Kingdom Hearts site, in which I gm'ed some small events for the site, I believe that the largest was about 4 people, including one of my own characters that helped them out in the event.
- Do you have any additional skills that could be useful in developing the site?
Well, im pretty decent at running events, and im a good spriter. Id be able to help run events on the site, like the halloween event. And I could make some sprites for event pokemon, i.e. the easter Togepi and eggxecute.

- Why do you want to be a Moderator at ZapdosZulu?
It isn't the idea of a want or need to be a moderator at ZapdoZulu it is a desire. I have a desire to help the site for I love being a member of it. I see so many posts being posted in a day by mods that I am in aw. Most importantly though I want to help them. I would like to help the site so that not all the stress and pressure of replying to people's posts on on so few mods.
- Are you an active member of this site and do you have some understanding of the rules and procedures of the site to be able to moderate threads?
Yes, I am an active member. Or at least I like to think I am. I come on just able everyday even though I don't post everyday. The reason I don't post everyday is normally, because I have nothing to reply to though. Having been here since late September I feel I have a good grasp on what the rules are for the site. I am a little if-y on how to add EXP for pokemon after level 25, but I have the basic idea down.
- Have you had any past experience as a staff member on another roleplaying site or have you taken up a role of responsibility in the past?
I haven't modded for a site in quiet a long time. I believe it has been six years for the last site I modded for was back in Acornrack's time. I also ran a small pokemon site for about two months, but had to close it due to everyone starting school including myself. I have also ran a successful tiger (non roleplaying) guild on neopets. That was many years ago however, but it ran for a good two years. So I have been a mod before, a mod before, an admin and a guild leader however not in many years.
- Do you have any additional skills that could be useful in developing the site?
Having roleplayed for nearly twelve years now I am rather creative in my writing. I am far from being amazing, but still that doesn't stop me from making interesting story-lines. I am also decent at making manips with Gimp. However, other then basic coding I am hopeless.

Just bumping this to let people know we're still interested in seeing applications if you think you've got the time and muse to contribute to the staff team.
