Silver was getting tired of explaining himself to Haley's sluggish skull. He exaggerated himself as he calmly explained to her again, "Zubat is good enough to win me a few battles but not enough to win all of them, Tch. It's still a weak sauce.""Don't you know, there are better moves out there then Return? It's a waste of my time to "respect" my Pokemon when they could be turning on you when they evolve. Not to mention most Pokemon get better moves when they level up. Funny how you mention some of those Pokemon. Eevee is hard to get but it's weak with the cutey face. Lucario is not in Johto. Crobat," he began countering every word Haley had said as he defended himself. "My Zubat will evolve to a Crobat when it doesn't disappoint me by losing a lot.""Yeah, I agree that it's two way, but before I respect them they need to respect me by not being a useless disappointment!" Silver's anger while talking to Haley was building up. "Go, Totodile! Go with a Bite!"He swapped his Pokemon right after Haley was swapping hers. Then, the cheery Pichu squeaked happily, her smiles lighting the air. "Chuuu!" the baby electric mouse released a weak jolt of electricity toward the water type. The Totodile panicked on its spot, but was zapped right on. Then, the water type picked up its feet and opened its jawlines wide. In one bite, while it was chasing Yokina as she was trying to dodge, the Totodile bit its teeth on the Pichu's head. "Now, why don't you stop trying to tell me how to live my life. Who do you think you are, my nanny?" he retorted. Well, not every household in Johto could afford a nanny.

The trainer scowled as he refuted her words, a migraine building in her skull. “Of course there are better moves than Return! I'm not saying there aren't!” she barked, her temper getting the best of her. “I'm not that stupid!” she shook her head, and her Pokemon began to get agitated.
She couldn't help but flinch as her precious Yokina was bit harshly on her small head by the Big Jaw Pokemon, hoping she was okay. But the Pichu didn't seem too affected, shaking her large ears and bounding back, sparks dancing on her cheeks as she waited for her trainer's command, hoping it didn't end with her head in his mouth again. His breath reeked!
“Yokina, ThunderShock again!” the Pichu nodded enthusiastically, more sparks appearing as she prepared an attack. When he told her to stop acting like his nanny, she gave him a blank look. She had heard people reference nannies before, true, but she had never been near any cities that would have any. It was just another word to her; one without a meaning. So she asked a question she was sure she would regret: “What's a nanny?”
Her hair whipped around as she shook her head, face red. She h'mphed, and looked at the Totodile as another thought came to her. “Wait a second! The Professor wasn't giving away any Johto starters! How'd you get one?” Her red-brown eye narrowed as something came to mind, but there was no way; not after how he'd acted after catching her thieving.

Silver flinched back at Haley's question of asking what a nanny was. Quickly composing himself from his stumped appearance, he stared back at her blankly, eyes narrowed in disbelief. "You don't... For the love of..." Raising a hand to his forehead, it seemed Haley wasn't the only one getting a headache. Massaging his forehead soothingly, he quickly waved his hand off in the air as if to dismiss the comment he had made. "Nevermind. I'm surprised being as young as you are that you aren't being accompanied by a nanny yourself." Lowering his hand back down to his side, he sneered at her, "Rather than a nanny you are more like a ninny." Tilting his head backwards, he glared down his nose at her and laugh once in a mocking tone, "If you don't know what that means either, I'll enlighten you. It basically means you're an idiot." Hoping to get under the skin of this thief a little more, he couldn't help but turn his attention back to the battle. The type disadvantage was causing him to lose at an alarming rate and because of it, he was becoming increasingly more enraged.
"Can you not do anything right?!" He hissed venomously at his Totodile, who in returned chomped his jaws childishly. "If you dont bite that rat properly, I'll make sure you get turned into a pair of shoes!" Receiving the threat with a terrified shiver, the young Totodile turned back to Yokina, only to have it's life flash before it's eyes. Literally. Being engulfed in a spark of thunder from the cheeks of the Pichu, the Totodile shook violently as it felt it's body being electrocuted. As the flash subsided, the small crocodile slumped to the floor in a heap, eyes swirling from the attack it had just received. Staggering back, Silver gripped onto his head and roared at the top of his voice, "NO! YOU WORTHLESS--!" Gritting his teeth tightly, he couldn't believe that he had just lost to this girl. Conveniently skipping her question on how he even got hold of a Totodile in the first place, he merely lifted the ball and returned it. "That doesn't matter as clearly, it is worthless!" Now out of usable Pokemon, he turned on his heel and grunted, "You haven't heard the last of me!" before charging off.

She tilted her head in confusion, but shook it off. She'd just borrow a dictionary at the Pokemon Center and look it up. Her lips curled down into a scowl when he called her a ninny. It deepened when he simplified the definition. “I know what a ninny is!” she snapped indignantly. “It's 'a foolish or stupid person'.”She turned back to the battle when he hissed angrily at his Totodile. Her lip was worried as he threatened it, and she couldn't help but worry for the reptilian. Her heart leaped into her throat as Yokina released her electricity, enveloping the water Pokemon. The scowl curled into a slight grin as he slumped to the ground. She huffed when he dodged her question, hurling her prize money at her before racing off. Haley laughed, grinning wide. “Good job, Yokina! You too, Denki!” Yokina turned, panting slightly, and shook her head, ears flopping. The mouse raced up to her excitedly, proud to have won. She crouched down, pulling the Pichu into a hug, before turning to Denki and kissing his nose. Her high from winning dissipating, she sighed and straightened up. The Poke Balls 'click'ed as she pulled them from her belt, returning everyone but Honou to their 'Balls. With that, she turned and returned to the Pokemon Center, Honou on her heels.
She returned the three new Pokemon to the PC Box, not wanting to train them at the time. They deserved a break after all that had just happened. In return, she withdrew her Treecko, her Sandshrew, and her newest: a Zangoose named Kaishi. She clicked Taka and Sandy's Poke Balls to her belt, but held Kaishi's in her hand, looking at it. She felt so sorry for the Zangoose. She had gone through so much, and for what? If she hadn't found the fighting ring in time, who knows what would have happened. The girl shook her head, and attached the Poke Ball to her belt, clicking onto it. She clutched her cane as she walked out; all that running had jarred her leg badly, and it now hurt horribly. However, before she could walk out, something caught her eye. The sales board, to be exact. A Pokemon on it had caught her eye, so she walked over and logged in on one of the sales computers. She sent in an offer for it, and got a reply in moments. The Pokemon was hers. She found herself looking at the trainer's other Pokemon for sale. She sent in an offer for one other, and then saw something that made her heart skip a beat. A Poochyena. 'I need to get over my fear.' she thought and, closing her eyes to calm herself, she sent in an offer. All three were hers. After making sure that all three were in her PC, she left Cherrygrove and headed towards the grass, keeping her eye out for a Ralts.

Venturing out into the grass was always bit of a gamble. When one stopped to consider all the different varities of Pokemon that existed in the world, it was never a sure bet what exactly a trainer would bump into in the wild. Of course there were Pokemon habitats exclusive to each area but that wasn't to say a rare and elusive Pokemon that had escaped or migrated would pop up. Thankfully, cases such as those were rare and few and far between. Considering the amount of time that Haley had spent in the settlement of Cherrygrove and its nearby areas, it was no wonder she had a fair idea of the sort of Pokemon that did dwell in the area. There were floating Hoppip leisurely bobbing along in the air, Caterpie and Weedle munching away at leaves on nearby trees branches, even herds of Mareep enjoying the vast pastures that route 30 had to offer. But the Pokemon Haley was keeping an eye out for was a lot rarer. In fact, whole waves of trainers had adventured their way through the route without so much a glimpse or suspicion that such a Pokemon had made their home along the route. Strolling ever onwards through the tall grass, it appeared that the very Pokemon she was keeping an eye out for had taken a sizeable interest in Haley itself. Blending in with the verdant greens of the wild grass surrounding the path, the Pokemon was suitably camouflaged from being spotted. Although it had not officially learnt the move teleport as of yet, the diminutive fairy like creature materialised from place to place as it tried to keep up with Haley's movements. There was something inviting about the trainer. Unbeknownst to the psychic Pokemon, it's inner psychic ability had picked up on Haley's desire to bump into the Pokemon and had drawn the Pokemon to her ultimately. As it continued to follow along, it started to lose control over its inability to teleport correctly. Taking another chance to transport onwards, its power inadvertently bought it right in front of where Haley was progressing to. Jumping up with bit of a fright, the Pokemon attempted to teleport back out but had sadly used up too much of its energy. It looks like a confrontation was due! Encounter

Haley didn't care much for Ralts. Or Kirlia, either. They just seemed too... girly... to her. However, one of the two of the evolution line she loved. Gallade. A tall, strong, gallant Pokemon. While normally a Pokemon with such a strict code of honor wouldn't appeal to her, this one did. It had insanely powerful attacks, insane speed, and looked pretty neat to her. She had wanted one since she was a little kid. So, when she found out that there might be some Ralts roaming near Cherrygrove, she had immediately packed up and prepared to train. As she walked along the route, she kept an eye and ear out. She searched her peripherals, watching the Mareep herds that huddled tightly together; other than the lush grass, there was no sign of the light green of a Ralts. Bidoof groups (gaggles? herds?) eyed her warily, no other color than their brown fur visible. Suddenly, she noticed something in the corner of her eye. Something white and... light green! She turned, only for the thing to vanish. Had she imagined it? Was she so enthused about her search that her mind had conjured a false entity? Then she remembered. Ralts could learn Teleport. Perhaps...? As she continued along, she noticed this anomaly several times more, and hope took root in her heart; it had to be a Ralts, it had to! What other Pokemon in this area looked like that, and could vanish at the blink of an eye? All of a sudden, the air in front of her seemed to contort and shimmer, as though the very air itself was changing form. It seemed to bend, taking the form of a one-dimensional figure that slowly became three-dimensional, gaining its color back. Something that could be a white robe or dress, tiny legs hidden by aforementioned dress, and a round 'hair-do' on its head, light green in color, with two light pink spikes sticking from its head. It was, without a doubt, the very Ralts she'd been tracking. It looked startled, from what she could see, and it seemed to shimmer for a moment before it faded, leaving the Pokemon where it was, the 'Teleport' failing. Haley had to act fast. The thief didn't want it to Teleport away before she could capture it. She fumbled for the two Poke Balls on her belt -for she had completely forgotten the rest in her hurry- and sent out her Treecko, a male by the name of Taka. However, she didn't call out an attack, and instead dug in her backpack for a brief moment before pulling out her prize: a blue and red Poke Ball. She reeled back like a baseball pitcher before hurling it at the Ralts, hoping the capture would work. “Poke Ball, go!”

Haley was very urgent to catch the Ralts, probably more urgent than the amateur mind-reading Ralts could detect. The wild Pokemon detected how her mind was scrambling to send out a Pokemon in case she was attacked, and also hastily pulling out a Great Ball for capture. So there it was, the stealthy Ralts finally had encountered Haley, and without a fight, it was sent inside the blue colored captured device. In a beam of light with different intensity than its teleport, the Ralts was warped into the sphere. The ball mechanically popped closed, and the psychic type began struggling to fight to capture device, hoping that it could show the human its strength before being captured. However, between the mechanism of the device and the Ralts's ambition, its fate had been sealed. The Ralts was now under the shadow of Haley, and will train and grow under her skills and wits. Taka, on the other hand, put his four feet on the ground and was readying to crawl for an attack, only to be confused by this situation. However, the grass type remained in its crawling stance, only to slowly get close to the successfully captured Great Ball, wondering what's next for him.

Once he evolves into a Gallade, he realizes it is now merely a brotherly love, and takes care of her much like an older brother, intimidating boys and protecting her from harm. Because of this he hates being in a Poke Ball.
Haley grinned wide as the Great Ball began to shake, crossing her fingers. Taka stared in confusion. Weren't they supposed to battle first? But whatever made her happy, he guessed. He reared up on his hind legs, ready to battle if the Poke Ball failed. However, it stilled with a cheerful 'ding', and Haley grinned, feeling her Pokedex vibrate, drawing her attention to it. She pulled it from her pocket, flipping it open and happily entering her new Pokemon's name. As soon as she tapped ENTER with the stylus, the Great Ball vanished into thin air.
Her head turned and she looked at Taka, who was giving her a 'what was that about?' look. She laughed, a carefree grin teasing her lips. “Sorry about that bud. I've always wanted a Ralts, and I didn't want a chance for him to get away.” The Treecko groaned and rolled his eyes, but scrambled up onto her shoulder, not bothering to say anything.
She thought for a moment, before continuing her walk through Route 30, keeping an eye out for Pokemon.

Continuing her journey through Route 30, another encounter was bound to happen sooner rather than later and this time, in the form of a Pokemon which was not usually found in this area. Recently, Professor Oak had made a broadcast across the Johto airwaves, alerting all trainers that a particular Pokemon had swarmed the region in the masses. They appeared in routes, caves and even in the streets of cities but now they were all beginning to migrate back to Ilex Forest, making them prime targets for capturing. One was not too far from Haley as she began to wade through the tall, green grass, yet it remained hidden. Blending in with the very foliage around it hung a Pokemon from a branch, yellow eyes cautiously following the trainer as she strolled closer to it's hiding place. The Pokemon was known as a Burmy, a small larvae creature which liked to cover it's body in whatever it could find, in order to keep warm during the cold winter. Covered in a mixture of green leaves and the odd branch sticking out, from a far it merely looked like a birds nest but on closer inspection, it definitely had eyes.
Beginning to shake nervously, it had never been in such close proximity to a human before. It's spring like head quivering slowly, it couldn't quite take the pressure anymore. It had to change hiding place! Suddenly letting itself go from the tree, the Pokemon landed right in the middle of the path. Looking frantically from left to right as if deciding what direction it should run in, the Pokemon was led to a unfortunate fate. A strong gust of spring wind blew past the Pokemon, causing it's cloak to flutter across the ground, shedding it down to it's true form. Shrieking in shock, it completely forgot about Haley approaching and instead began to frantically piece itself back together in order to stay warm. Right before her eyes, the bagworm went from a small, squishy bug into a bundle of leaves and twigs with eyes! Sticking the last leaf into place, it sighed in relief before slowly flinching at the sight of a human figure watching close by.

Kaishi led their entourage, prowling on all fours. His bulk pushed aside the tall grass as he passed, but he quickly grew frustrated with getting pieces of grass up his nose, twigs tugging at his fur, and leaves falling in his face. The Zangoose, fed up, reared onto his hind legs and, his massive claws glowing with power, slashed his way through the foliage. Sandy had an easier time of it, cradled in Haley's arms, her tail and hind legs dangling downward.
Haley herself, although taller than the grass, struggled to find her footing. The grass was so dense as to block her view of her feet, and she had to wave her cane over the ground, tapping it in such a way so that she could feel the obstacles in front of her. It was slow going, but at least she didn't end up on her face.
Kaishi, at the lead, was the first to notice a shift in the air. No, not a shift as in a mood or tension, but a shift in the olfactory department. Having lowered himself to struggle with a stubborn twig that ensnared his fur, he ignored it in favor of rearing up and tasting the air. Yes, definitely. They weren't the only ones here. Gleaming aqua eyes searched the area, attempting to find the source of the scent.
Having kept her eyes downwards in hopes of catching a glimpse of the footpath she had strayed from, Haley looked up at the sound of Kaishi's huff. “What's up, bud?” she questioned, attempting to see what had alerted him. He gestured towards something in the foliage, which she had taken to be a birds nest. “Kaishi, that's a birds nest.” she deadpanned. He growled, baring his teeth in frustration and gesturing towards it again.
She looked at it even more closely. “Whoa, holy-!” she yelped, jumping back as a pair of eyes peered out at her. The ivory-haired trainer pulled out her Pokedex.
“Burmy. The Bagworm Pokemon. To shelter itself from cold, wintry winds, it covers itself with a cloak made of twigs and leaves. If its cloak is broken in battle, it quickly remakes the cloak with materials nearby.” Dexter announced.
Apparently, the Pokedex's mechanical voice must have frightened it, for it released its grip on the branch and dropped to the ground, directly in front of her. A gust of wind suddenly blew hard, nearly taking Haley from her feet and almost ripping Sandy from her arms. Kaishi dug in his claws to keep himself from being sent tumbling. However, the effect the gust had on the Burmy was almost comical. The wind tugged away the leaves that surrounded the bug-type, leaving it naked. It squealed, piecing itself back together while Haley and her Pokemon stared in shock.
After completing its 'uniform', the bagworm turned to look at the thief, fear in its eyes. And she lost it. She burst out in a fit of laughter, unable to contain it after having watched the bagworm go from cloaked to naked to cloaked. Doubled over, her arms wrapped around her abdomen, she was unable to breathe. Eventually, she managed to gather herself enough to wheeze a command: “Kaishi... Scratch...”

Ooc: Poor Burmy only knows Protect. It would be knocked out if it did not know it Ic While the mechanical voice on Haley's Pokedex started going off poor Burmy became frightened. The young bug type was rather shy and did not like loud noises. Burmy tried it's best to cover itself in as many leaves that it could to try and ready itself for what would surely be a tough fight. As Burmy ran out of leaves the little Pokemon tried to come up with anything else it could us to protect itself. Outside of a few twigs however there was little else it could find. Fearing the worst the bug turned back towards Haley and it's body froze in fear. She had sent out a blue and white monstrosity to battle. Burmy almost had a heart attack seeing the Zangoose in front of it. The razor sharp claws made the mongoose Pokemon even more intimidating to Burmy. Burmy certainly did not want to pick a fight with anyone but this seemed like attempted murder to the poor bug. As Burmy frantically prayed for a miracle Kaishi ran towards the bug like a bolt of lightning. All hope seemed lost as Kaishi's claws would tear Burmy to shreads but at the last moment a blue sphere appeared around Burmy. At the last moment the bug Pokemon remembered it could use Protect. Kashi's claws frantically scratched the sphere but to no avail. The Burmy's prayers had certainly been answered as it emerged from the onslaught without a scratch. By all means Burmy was still terrified for it's life and there was no damaging moves it knew. Burmy's only hope was that Protect would hold up long enough for Haley and Kashi to give up. Only time would tell if Burmy would live to see another day as Burmy really started to pray for mercy. Wild Pokemon Battle

Haley couldn't help but feel bad for the poor Burmy. It was quite weak compared to Kaishi, and from what she could see, had no way to attack nor defend itself, whilst Kaishi had his dagger-like claws to both attack and defend with. But, alas, this was how the world worked; if you couldn't stay hidden in the face of an enemy or predator, then you became the prey.
Kaishi, more animal-like than other Zangoose due to his upbringing, bounded towards the Burmy on all four legs, claws beginning to glow. Even Haley and her other Pokemon had to admit that he looked intimidating; it wasn't a sight you wanted going towards you.
At the last second, a blue shield appeared in front of the Burmy, protecting it from his attack. Kaishi reared up and scratched at it, scrabbling helplessly, but it was about as effective as a declawed Meowth trying to claw through ice. He snarled in frustration, leaping away and dropping back down, pacing like a tiger trying to decide how to attack its meal.
Haley frowned. That Protect was unexpected. But surely it couldn't work twice in a row, right? “Kaishi!” she called. “Fury Cutter!”

Clearly terrified at the prospect of going up against such a fearsome Pokemon, the bagworm Pokemon remained affixed to the spot but the very way it was looking out to them capitulated the idea that it was scared witless. It's yellow eyes stared out from its armour like nest of leaves and looked at the menacing Zangoose. The very fact that its own team members and trainer were wary of it did little to assuage its fright of the mongoose Pokemon. Knowing it was likely boiling with anger over being denied the satisfaction of a hit, the Pokemon both thanked and cursed its ability to protect itself from damage. In most cases, it could do nothing but pray for a miracle and when it least expected it, a wondrous barrier of light protected it from all kinds of damage. There was just one problem. It never seemed to work successively. Gulping, the wild Burmy could tell from the trainer's words it was ordering its Pokemon to go in for a second round. As Kaishi raised their claws, a stern look etched into its expression, the Burmy knew it was time to or die. If it failed to summon its protective defence this time, it was going to be in for a world of hurt when those vicious claws of a predator came slashing through it. As Kaishi came rushing forwards with a definite hunger to her attack, the Burmy closed its eyes, let out a high pitch squeal and summoned forth another barrier. As it concentrated all its energy into the protective shield, Kaishi appeared relentless as she struck out with her furious claws. The last time the attack had deflected woefully but this was going to be different. Slamming her claws forward with a furious swipe, the barrier was shattered to pieces and before anyone could fathom what was going on, the fury cutter slashed away at the Burmy. Squealing out painfully, the Zangoose seemed unwilling to call of its attack but eventually came to a standstill as it appeared the Burmy was still standing. It had suffered grievous wounds but amazingly, was still in the game. Although its protect had come up short of actually protecting, the Pokemon's leaves it had assembled as armour had done its share of protection. Despite hanging in there, it was clear that this wasn't going to be ending favourably for the Pokemon. Wild Battle

Haley felt guilty for letting the Zangoose loose on the Burmy, but she had little choice. Kaishi was the only one of her Pokemon who could deal a good amount of damage on the Bagworm. But that didn't assuage her guilt. The Zangoose hadn't been in a fight since she'd been rescued, and she was raring for blood. If the shiny didn't fight soon, she would surely turn on her own team in her bloodlust.
The trainer found herself half-hoping that Protect would kick in again. The bagworm didn't look like its squishy body could withstand a strike from the mongoose, as though it would go splat or squish from the strike. A thin, early winter freeze-like barrier erected itself in front of the Burmy, but a determined blow from Kaishi easily shattered it into tiny shards. The shards hit the ground and gleamed bright before dissolving into a glitter-like substance. The Zangoose ignored the tiny pieces cutting into its paw pads as she charged forward, dealing deadly blows to the Burmy.
Haley and her Pokemon cringed with each strike, blood splattering to the ground. “K-Kaishi! Fall back! That's enough!” The thief finally cried, when it looked like her Pokemon wasn't going to stop until the Burmy lay dead. “Honou,” she murmured. “Do not let me forget that I need to keep a close eye on Kaishi during battles. She still has the pitfight mindset.” The Charmander, shuddering, nodded with a whimper.
With a frustrated snarl, Kaishi dealt a final slash and shoved off, bounding back to crouch in front of her trainer, resting on her hind legs with her shoulders hunched up, licking off the bug's blood that gleamed on her scythe-like claws. Haley fingered a Poke Ball in her backpack. Should she? It would save the Burmy some pain. But it probably wouldn't work. Ah well, although she didn't want to... “Kaishi, Fury Cutter, one more time! But, be careful!”

Well, thankfully for Haley, her half-wish worked. The bagworm readily put up a barrier between it and the Zangoose when Kaishi was ordered to move again. The Zangoose's Fury cutter this time bounced off the Protect and was unable to penetrate the shield. The terrified Burmy panicked even though the attack missed. If this battle kept going any longer, it would be knock out. The leafy covering of its body can be seen being blown, blown by its nervousness and fear of this trainer's heavy-hitting Pokemon.
