Haley cringed at the cracking sound made as Kaishi's claws collided with the ethereal barrier, one of the beast's claws splitting clear down the middle from the force of the blow, a shard breaking off and dropping to the ground. Using the barrier to its advantage, Kaishi pressed forward, ramming into it with her hind legs and kicking off racing towards Haley. When she got within five strides of the trainer, she dug her left claws in and spun to face the bagworm, tearing up huge clods of dirt in the process.
“Zaaaaaaangoose!” she snarled, baring her teeth and scraping her claws into the ground. Kaishi didn't wait for a command for a trainer before racing forward, preparing another Fury Cutter.

As far as battle cries went, Kaishi certainly knew what she was doing. Given the situation that both Pokemon were placed in, frustration was a valid response. Burmy knew nothing aside from Protect, which unfortunately only prolonged a battle it had no chance of winning, aside from the blue Zangoose and it's trainer's frustration and possible fleeing from battle. However, by the way the Zangoose looked at the Pokemon... Burmy knew that it's days were numbered. When Zangoose had hit earlier, it had taken almost everything Burmy had. Now it'd have to somehow do it again.
Without orders, Kaishi dashed forward, lumbering towards the defenseless Pokemon with an addled rage. Eyes flaring, Kaishi attacked just as Burmy did it's best to erect it's Protective barrier. However, Kaishi's arm had been in the way when the barrier was erected, leaving a hole large enough to slip her arm in and out of. After a few seconds of realization, the Zangoose gave a smirk before stepping forward with her attack, knocking out the bug instantly without a second thought. Haley reached into her knapsack, fumbling with a Poke Ball, determined to save the Burmy from any more pain. However, right as she pulled it out and looked up, she saw Kaishi charging forward. “Kaishi, WAIT!” But the Pokemon, as per typical, didn't listen, too focused on finishing her battle. Her ears flattened back, and her lips curled back to reveal deadly fangs. Haley didn't think what she did was possible, the Pokemon's arm was right in the center of the formed Protect shield. She tore her arm upwards, the hole from her arm having weakened the spectral shield, and shattered it.
As soon as she could, she charged forward and slammed her claws into the Burmy. It fainted instantly, shedding its cloak. Haley cringed and, seeing the Pokemon beginning to advance on the downed bagworm, quickly tossed Kaishi's Poke Ball at her, recalling her. She sighed in relief, and looked at the Burmy with guilt. She tossed the empty Poke Ball at it, capturing it easily.
“Well... that was... interesting.” she finally exhaled, and her team nodded in agreement. Haley began to advance further down the Route, searching for more Pokemon.

As Haley proceded to walk down the route something watched her from the grass. It slowly crept from each patch keeping a watchful eye on the trainer as it kept it's distance after it had witnessed the events of the last battle. The Pokemon keeping an eye on Haley was friends with the Burmy that Kaishi had so decidedly defeated. The Burmy was mad that it's friend had been taken from it but it surely did not want to face Kaishi if it could avoid doing so. As the sneaky Pokemon kept pace with Haley it was curious to know where she was going and why so it could maybe save it's friend. After what felt like forever Haley came to an area with many trees around that Burmy thought would make a great vantage point to watch Haley from. The Pokemon shot a string from it's mouth that allowed it to climb the tree. It sat on one of the branches as it watched Haley hoping to ambush her when the time was right. The Pokemon had been trying so hard to this point but the bad luck it had refused to go away. It was knocked out of the tree by a passing pidgey that flew right into it. The Pokemon fell to the ground right in front of Haley. Burmy realized that this was a costly error as now it no longer had the element of suprise on it's side. As the small Pokemon began to panic it knew the only way it could hope to save it's friend now was to battle. A level 10 Burmy has appeared. Please select a Pokemon for battle.

A green blur shot through the air, causing Denki's head to jerk up. He stared in the general direction of the Burmy, but was unable to discern it from the other leaves around it. The canine huffed and shook his head, turning to continue on.
Haley looked as well. She could have sworn she'd seen something move. However, she couldn't see anything. She must have imagined it. It could have just been the wind rattling the leaves. Like the Electrike, she shook her head and continued on.
Suddenly, a Pidgey fluttered by, knocking something from the tree. She looked down at it, and realized it was nearly an exact clone of the Burmey from before, although some of its leaves looked wilted or dead. “Another one?” she voiced aloud. “They're like Pidgey!” a laugh slipped through her lips. Honou stepped forward, sweeping her tail flame back and forth. She took a deep breath, preparing an Ember attack.

As Burmy looked at Haley the anger in it's eyes could not be missed. It was clearly upset that it's friend had been captured and wanted to try to somehow free it from it's new master. The young bug may not have looked very tough but it did not care. It would not stand by and watch this train turn it's friend into a slave no matter what. Even with it's stealth attack ruined the bug Pokemon was still as determined as ever to somehow free it's friend and it would not accept failure as an option. Burmy let out a tiny growl as it bounced around seemingly picking a fight not even noticing that Honou had stepped forward. The young bug was busy planning it's revenge when the lizard suddenly shot a few Embers it's way. At the last possible moment Burmy finally realized what was happening. The bug type shrieked in terror before closing it's eyes. Just as all hope seemed lost a blue sphere surrounded the bug. The sphere seemed to come out of nowhere and it managed to stop the embers right before they could hit Burmy. As Burmy waited a few moments before opening it's eyes the bug thought for sure that it had died only to see that there was not even a scratch on it's body. Burmy jumped for joy that somehow it had avoided taking a hit in it's entirety. Burmy knew that it had been quite fortunate to know Protect and it was glad to see it worked. The Bug had completely forgotten that it did not know any offensive moves before it tried to sneak up on Haley but at least it could annoy her and her Pokemon by using Protect so long as it held out and maybe get the trainer to give up out of frustration. At least that was what Burmy was hoping anyways. Wild Pokemon Battle

'Oh, not again.' Haley thought as a bright blue shield erected itself, protecting the bug from Honou's attacks. With the bloodcrazy mongoose? That was a blessing. With her, relatively gentle, fire-lizard? It was going to get old. Fast. “Oh, bugger.” she voiced, pinching the bridge of her nose and shaking her head. The move was repeated as the Burmy jumped for joy, and Honou huffed, black smoke pouring from both nostrils.
“One more time?” the trainer asked of her Pokemon, and the lizard nodded happily, her tail flaring mightily as she inhaled. Honou didn't move an inch as she launched the Ember attack, expecting another Protect to pop up, and not wanting to waste the energy.

Visibly annoyed that the Protect had been a success, the Burmy appeared to be somewhat proud of itself. If this kept up, surely the girl would just let it's captured friend go free. All it had to do was continue to shrug off her attacks until she gave up and with it's yellow eyes following her gestures, it hoped it wouldn't take too long. The particular Burmy was forgetful in that it was indeed skilled enough to land a Tackle attack if it chose to. But at the same time, if a single leaf on it's body was even touched by a scatter of an ember, it's entire body would pay the price. Not being able to take the risk, even if it wanted to deep down, for now the Burmy just had to play on the defensive. Atleast until one or the other of them gave up.
Still smirking to itself over how it had managed to avoid the previous attack, the Burmy looked over to the Charmander, who appeared to not want to waste a single shred of needless energy. Foiling the Burmy's plan somewhat, the grassy bug had wanted the Charmander to jump around and tire herself out but clearly that wasn't happening. Instead, she sent out a fairly weak scatter of Ember, to which the Burmy made a rather lazy, uncaring attempt itself and brought up another barrier. Certain flames scattering off, the Burmy released it's barrier a little too early, not noticing a flicker of left over flames sizzling on the ground beside it. Beginning to hop up and down once more as it thought it's attack had been successful, the Burmy jumped right into the barely alive embers, that mere moment of contact being enough to practically set the creature alight.
Crying out as the embers torched it's body, the leaves that once protected it burnt to a crisp. Leaving nothing but a strange, black, larvae creature, who quickly landed to the floor with swirling, fainted eyes. Despite it's protect partially working, it seemed that the Burmy had managed to faint itself due to a bit of impatience.

He takes on Pokemon that he seems unlikely to beat, and ignores type disadvantages. Well, at first. But as soon as he realizes that he has landed into the fire, he tries to pull out and ends up needing to be rescued by a teammate.
Honou forgets Growl to learn Dragon Rage.
The Bug-type's poorly timing proved to be its downfall. A single ember managed to get through the shield, landing on the leaves nearby it and setting them alight. The excited Burmy whom, Haley noticed, seemed to not have noticed to flames, bounced right onto them. The dried leaves that made up its form quickly went up in smoke, turning into nothing but ash and leaving the bagworm in its true form. Bouncing around as it tried to make the flames extinguish themselves, it finally slumped to the ground in defeat. Haley shook her head. Sometimes she wondered how certain Pokemon managed to survive this far. Probably the efforts of determined trainers, most likely. She dug out a Poke Ball, and strode towards it, nodding her approval at Honou, who looked rather bored. She had immediately sent the Burmy she had caught earlier to another trainer. Perhaps she could turn this pest into an opportunity. She had seen what they evolved into, and it looked rather useful. A nice eye in the sky, perhaps? Tossing the Poke Ball at its fallen form, she quickly scrawled out the information and allowed it to vanish. The trainer was about to walk further down the path, until a glowing caught her eye. She turned, half expecting another Pokemon come to distract her. But no, it was her own Pokemon; her Charmander, to be precise. She stood doubled over, her entire form completely covered in a glow. All the trainer could make out was her outlines. Suddenly, a spike protruded from the back of her head. Her claws lengthened, followed by her arms. The fire-lizard grew in height, so that she now stood at a better height with her trainer. Green eyes blinked open, and the light dispersed, revealing her orange scales had turned red. “Charrrrrrr...meleon!”Haley dug out her Poke Dex. “Charmander: the Flame Pokemon. It is very hot-headed by nature, so it constantly seeks opponents. It calms down only when it wins.”“So, Honou, you evolved!” she laughed, patting the top of her Pokemon's head. It huffed, scowling playfully as it released a puff of smoke. “Whaddya say we go train in New Bark Town for a bit, huh?”~On hold~

Haley walked back into Cherrygrove City, Sirius trotting at her heels, taking in the sights. It was the flame canines' first time to visit the small 'city', so she was rather excited. The trainer, however, made a beeline for the Pokemon Center, digging out a Poke Ball from her pocket. “Thank you for assisting me earlier, Sirius. You deserve a rest. Return, if you don't mind.” with the push of a button on the middle of the capture device, the canine was turned into energy, and absorbed by the Poke Ball. She shrunk it back down to its travel size, and put it back into her pocket with the rest of the team. Rook rested in there as well, having been recalled after the third flock of Pidgey he'd scared up.
The trainer sat down at a PC, and quickly swiped her Trainer ID, waiting for the screen to load. She used the touchscreen to manipulate her party, switching out some for others, although she left both eggs in her team. Being new to egg raising, she wasn't sure if that was detrimental to their health or not, and besides; the sooner they hatched, the better. They weren't going to hatch by rotting in the PC. Haley had felt guilty for leaving behind her usual teammates, and so had made it top priority to get most of them back when she got to Cherrygrove. However, she didn't get Yokina, as she was growing too strong, and would soon be too strong for her to handle without the Zephyr badge. Instead, she got out her fire starter, as per usual, Denki and Taka, as per usual, and then a different one; a Ponyta named Sleipnir whom she'd purchased off a trainer.
She strode back out of the Pokemon Center, feeling the familiar heat of the fire-types' Poke Balls against her leg. When she was five steps away from the doors, she pulled out Honou and Taka's Poke Balls, tossing them into the air and watching as they popped open, revealing the two secondary evolutions. The rivals admired one another for a moment, having never seen the other in their evolved form. They sized each other up, trying to decide how much of a threat their rival was now, depending on how and what had changed.
After giving the duo some time to look each other over, and doing the same to them as well, they set out through Cherrygrove City, looking for something different to battle; the small canine Pokemon known as Zigzagoon.

As the weather settled from the downpour of hail to something of a frosty pinch to the air, it became apparent that even with all the shifts in seasons, Cherrygrove was very much still a place where life went on regardless. The same old faces carried along with their daily errands, individual shop owners would lay in wait within their shops for would be customers, it was a generally peaceful life that many would actually be quite happy to settle down with. Not all though. Fed up with how routine and orderly everything was, there was a specific bundle of furriness that was looking for a way out from it all. Hopping between the various alley ways of Cherrygrove with incredible knowledge, it was clear that this creature had come to know the locale like the back of its hand. Err, paw. Darting along, it had picked up the presence of someone or something which presented a very strong presence about them. Maybe it would be a nice enough diversion to inject a bit of fun into its life. That or whisk it away on adventures new. Anything was better than the capital of boredland that was Cherrygrove. Pacing up along one final alleyway, the furry creature was certain it had heard the sounds in this direction. The scent too was unusual, nothing it could easily recall in its time trapped in Cherrygrove. Picking up with increased pace in its movement, it skidded to a halt as it came out of the alleyway and face to face with the culprit for the break from normality. Looking up at the trainer from head to toe, the Pokemon took in the sight of Haley. Clearly she wasn't something it recognised but the fact she was an unknown pleased the Pokemon to no end. Something different at long last. Sniffing its nose, the Pokemon didn't seem as if it were going to be going away any time soon. If anything, it almost looked ready for a mock battle to try and cure the boredom that ailed it. Maybe if it played its cards right, it'd be scooped up and taken away from this dull place. Encounter

Haley's Pokemon weren't used to being cooped up in their Poke Balls. She usually allowed them to walk free, pacing alongside her as she traveled. But now that she had locked them away, several weren't too happy. Honou wanted to walk alongside her, to prove that she was her partner Pokemon. Taka's thoughts were similar; every second he was away, Honou could swoop in and make her her's! Besides that, in a Poke Ball he couldn't explore, couldn't find things he'd never seen before! Denki didn't much mind, although he was quickly growing bored of the confinement. Sleipnir had spent far more time than that locked away; he couldn't care less so long as he was eventually let out.
As Haley trotted down the alleys of Cherrygrove, the fire-type lizard's Poke Ball began to heat up. She didn't pay too much of a thought to it, however, it quickly grew unbearable even through her several layers. The trainer yanked the Poke Ball off her hip, and released the fire-type. Honou huffed, whipping her tail and blowing smoke through her nose; she wasn't happy in the least about being locked away.
The girl backed up a few steps, and held her hands palm up in a sign of peace. “Okay, okay! I'm sorry! I won't do it again!” Mostly mollified, the reptilian backed down, and began to walk out to the main road. Haley hurried after her, not wanting to lose sight of the annoyed Pokemon. She reached its side, and matched its pace as they searched along the main road.
Honou frowned and looked around as she sensed a Pokemon. She couldn't pinpoint an exact location, but she knew one was nearby. She slowed her gait, eyes scanning everywhere. Haley paid her little mind, not noticing the Pokemon's odd actions; she'd been acting odd since she evolved, so why pay attention to this one as well?
They turned a corner, and found themselves face-to-face with an 'empty' alleyway. They turned to walk away, only for a Zigzagoon to zig-zag towards them from inside the alley. Haley stared at it in surprise, and her hand twitched to the belt of Poke Balls. Honou beat her to it, and stepped forward, eyes narrowed and smoke drifting from her nostrils, a flame beginning to alight and her tail flaring up.
Her trainer drew her attention with a sharp call of her name. “Honou!” she barked. “Let's trying giving someone else a turn!” the Charmeleon snarled, but backed up the two steps she had taken, now standing at her trainer's side – albeit reluctantly. The girl pulled a Poke Ball from her belt, sparks dancing along it as the occupant sensed the challenge.
“Denki, let's give it a go!” she shouted, tossing the ball into the air. It split, a red beam of light forming a primarily-green canid. It shook its head and looked around. Locking his gaze on the Zigzagoon, it began to squirm excitedly. Denki dropped into a low play-bow, excited to meet another canine. Perhaps it wanted to play?
“Denki –” she began to call but, as she stepped back to clear the field, she accidentally stepped on Honou's tail. The Charmeleon roared angrily; first she'd locked her up in a Poke Ball, and now this?! Losing her temper, she instinctively shot a blast of flame towards the perpetrator.
The concussive blast missed Haley by a few inches, singing her hair and leaving her to stagger back in shock, stumbling and landing on her butt. Taking a moment to check herself over and insure that she wasn't injured, Haley felt frustration build up in her. Today was not her day! She just wanted to get it over with, and head back to the PC for some well deserved rest. Turning a dark glance at Honou, she reached for her belt, and withdrew a Great Ball.
Might as well get this over with, then. And if it didn't take, at least she'd get to release some of her frustration by throwing the Poke Ball. “Denki!” She snapped again. “Stand back!” she hurled the Great Ball with all her strength, not aiming to hit the canine, however.
Honou merely stood in shock. She had nearly fried her trainer! What had happened there?! She felt the urge to check up on her partner, but withstood it. The Charmeleon was still angry over everything, although she wasn't going to try and fry her again; instead, she just wanted to ignore her until she calmed down.

Vs. Zigzagoon - - - - - - - - - - - - - Still sniffing hopefully at the air, the Zigzagoon frowned at Honou when the lizard blew smoke out; the scent was sharp and acrid, something it wasn't too fond of. Attention snagged successfully by Denki's appearance, Zigzagoon barked happily at him and ran in a small circle, delighted by the playful posture of the Electrike. This would certainly liven up its otherwise boring day, and with its tongue hanging out in a goofy expression, the shaggy haired racoon dog seemed ready to tangle with Denki... up until Haley's untimely incident with her Charmeleon.
Wide eyed as Honou roared in fury and nearly burnt her trainer, Zigzagoon was mute with surprise and fear, forgetting all about Denki for a moment. It was glad the human had called her fiery Pokémon back; the idea of getting into battle with something so scary made the racoon dog tremble. Denki, also having paused to stare, reluctantly moved so that Haley could line up the Zigzagoon in her sights. Play would have to wait, it seemed, Denki trying to convey his sorrow to the other canine across from him with a pout.
Not entirely sure what the Great Ball entailed, the Zigzagoon yipped as the ball bounced off its head and dragged it inside, landing on the pavement with a solid clink. Rocking back and forth, it was clear Zigzagoon was not pleased, made even more apparent when the device burst open and released it back outside. Barking unhappily, it turned around and waggled its tail at them all, hoping it could lower their guard - and, maybe, stop them from chucking objects all willy-nilly at it.

Haley scowled as her hand came up to rub her cheek, feeling heat on the skin there although there was no burn. What in Arceus' name was wrong with the Pokemon? She'd been acting odd since she'd evolved... maybe she should've gone with a more docile starter, say Bulbasaur. Yeah, his vines are nimble, and he knows sleep powder. But no, despite how she acted, Haley wouldn't give up Honou for anything.
Mentally, she shook her head, swiping her thumb on the heated skin a final time to check for a burn. Satisfied nothing had been harmed, she turned back to the battle at hand. Denki looked over his shoulder at her, worried that the mean fire-type had harmed his master. If she had, he'd make her wish she'd never stepped near his trainer! She was his charge, his to protect! Honou may be the Beta, second only to Haley, the Alpha in his mind, but he wouldn't hesitate for a moment to skin her hide if she'd hurt his Alpha! No matter what his Beta would try to say, he'd do
The girl met his gaze and shook her head, indicating that he wasn't to do a thing. The canine whined, but wagged his tail and turned to the matter at hand. Haley tossed out his command: “Sic 'em, Denki.”
He barked happily, dropping into a play bow, forelegs splayed on the ground and hind end up in the air, then leaped from side to side happily before launching forward, charging at the Zigzagoon in hopes of Tackling it, tongue hanging from his mouth all the while.

Vs. Zigzagoon - - - - - - - - - - - - - Unsure of what kind of silent conversation trainer and Pokémon were having, Zigzagoon watched with cautious eyes, all senses on high alert in case something changed. But to its delight, Denki was finally set to play with it, even if that meant a bit of roughhousing. Imitating his playful posture as best it could, the Normal-type responded with a bark of its own, tail twitching in obvious contentment. After bouncing around, Denki used his superior speed and loped in a straight line to his foe with head held low. Sensing the minute shift from total play to battle focus, Zigzagoon braced itself as quickly approaching Electrike drew close.
Denki threw his head out and slammed into the racoon dog's chest with as much force as he could muster, forcing his opponent to go skidding backwards with a loud yip. Claws scrabbling along the ground as it sought purchase, Zigzagoon finally succeeded in stopping its runaway slide and uttered a triumphant bark. Denki dashed back over to resume his spot in front of Haley, head cocked to the side as he witnessed what made Zigzagoon a unique Pokémon. It was charging at him, but in a zig-zagging pattern that appeared bizarre to most onlookers.
This was only natural for the Normal-type, and it eventually made its way over to Denki in good time. Eyes narrowing despite its wagging tail, the Zigzagoon snapped out a battle cry moments before it shoulder-rushed Denki. Though the blow hurt, it caused the Electrike's fur to rub together, emitting a stray spark of static electricity that leapt over to Zigzagoon. Paralysis soon set in much to the canine's dismay, whining as its muscles spasmed uncontrollably on its slow retreat.
