Fear Path | Espeon watched from above still. She didn't like the strange feeling of...sympathy she felt for the woman and her Pokemon. Both of their emotional scales were tipping at uneasy levels, and it made her shift uncomfortably. She didn't like feeling this way towards those she was trying to help. But it was almost like she couldn't help it.
Pikachu looked back at the Espeon, and when her eyes flashed blue again he released another wave of electricity, which shocked Tenebrae and made him cry out once again. But Tenebrae didn't seem quite ready to give up. Tenebrae shook out his fur and charged towards the Pikachu.
He slammed hard into its frame, causing the Pikachu to cry out, but it was then that he felt a major shock to his system, and toppled backwards with a tingling sensation stalling all of his muscles. He had been paralyzed by the other Pokemon. It possesed the static ability.-----Battle!Espeon's Pikachu |Level 5| HP: 1/20HP Status: Normal Pikachu used Thundershock! Could you BE anymore harsh?

Lacking backup, the situation took an even deeper turn for the worse as both Sharada and Tenebrae realised that they only had each other. Though maybe not the strongest trainer out there, Sharada was confident in the abilities of her other Pokemon but without them, she felt a bit at a loss. Watching with wide eyes as the small Tenebrae dashed forward with an attack, it felt almost painful for her to watch. There was going to be a time where she would test the waters and have Tenebrae fight in order to improve himself but this was much sooner than she had anticipated. Eyes flinching as another spark of electricity rippled across his body, it was hard to work out what to do from this point onwards. "I can't rely on my other Pokemon but Tenebrae surely can't handle this... Not by himself. There has to be something I can do." Suddenly becoming more alert, her large blue eyes watched as the Zorua toppled back, "TENEBRAE!" Screaming out and taking a step forward, she quickly worked out what the problem was as he struggled to stand back up onto his feet. Pulling a strained expression, it was clear he had been paralysed.
Despite not having complete control over his muscles, the Zorua wasn't ready to give up. Ears lowering as he heard the worried calling of Sharada, he tried to stand. But it wasn't just the paralysis, this was the first battle he had ever been in and the injuries he had received weren't exactly light to him. Panting slowly, a deeper look of worry grew across Sharada's own face, "...Tenebrae." Somewhat amazed by this spout of energy, she couldn't help but feel like just pulling him back. Deep down, she couldn't bare the thought of his frail body experiencing pain and would much rather just take on the attack of the Pikachu herself, if it would please the Espeon enough to let them both go. But at the same time, was she ever going to get another chance like this? Where he would willingly choose to fight? Maybe the power of this illusion had been of some use in bringing out a bit of courage from within him. Lowering her head, the brunette grit her teeth. Just like Greil, she couldn't baby him forever. If she did, he would never grow or improve, there was going to be a time where she would need to rely on his abilities and if she didn't support his choice of battling now, she could potentially lose this bond that was beginning to form.
"Hey, Tenebrae!" Sharada called out, ripping through the silence. With an odd twitch, the Zorua raised his head wearily, glancing back with a frown as if expecting Sharada to call him back. Picking up on his slight glare, she stared on with her mouth slightly ajar before lifting a hand and gesturing to him. "I haven't been taking you seriously but now I know... You can do this!" His own icy blue eyes widening, his ears perked upward, "Like I said, you gotta fight for what you believe in. If you feel this is right and you really wanna stay by my side, then obviously I'll stand by you, too!" Finally managing a somewhat awkward smile, she rubbed at her cheek with her index finger. "It hasn't been long but I know I can put my trust in you, Tenebrae. Just like how you can do with me." Laughing once, she lowered her head before raising it again with a much more confident look and posture. "You wanna get stronger than your sister, right? You don't need to hide in her shadow, you are better than that." Feeling a little more pumped now that Sharada had finally decided to stand by him rather than try to pull him away, he turned back to the Pikachu, baring more energy than before. "Get in there, Tenebrae!" She ordered triumphantly, hoping that he could push through the paralysis. Readying his claws, Tenebrae hoped to lash out with a Scratch attack.

Fear Path | Pikachu watched, looking at Espeon though he found no commands from looking into her eyes. So he waited. Espeon seemed intensely focused on Sharada as she tried to cheer the fox on. It seemed like Tenebrae was backed into a corner and if he slipped up and found he couldn't move during this phase, Pikachu would take him out. That was exactly it. They'd lose the trials, and all that they had been through so far would be in vain.
But Espeon's eyes widened in the next instant. Her cheering in her own way seemed to be bringing the light back to her Zorua's eyes. He was healing. The spark of Paralyzation still coursed through him, but his hit points were back up to their max. Espeon snapped out of it, quickly looking back to Pikachu and flicking her tail. Pikachu who released a Thunder Shock that rattled through Tenebrae's system, followed by another that caused the fox to cry out.
But he wasn't going to give up. He wouldn't. The sparking reminder of his handicap broke loose, and he ran towards the Pikachu again, claws out as he slashed into its arm. Pikachu let out a distorted cry before it vanished and Tenebrae's paw hit the air. They had won. Espeon hopped down from her platform as the thunder and lightning seemed to silence around them.
She said nothing as she headed for the next door, traveling towards the next room. Once there, she formed a single platform, which she sat upon as Sharada and Tenebrae were greeted by a rustic looking room, filled with large, loose-looking pillars. But across from them, stood Joey and Calistra, who they had seen early. He was wearing a grin, but Calistra looked cold, once again staring emotionlessly at Tenebrae. "This is your final test. You must battle for your freedom from this place. Tenebrae. Can you possibly lay a paw on the one you hold so dear?" -----Information!Tenebrae Grew to Level 8!

Gaining a new found gush of strength and energy, Tenebrae felt revitalised as he sped towards the Pikachu, taking the first Thunder Shock head on but despite this, pushed through it. His eyes glaring at the mangled Pikachu, he cried out as a second wave shocked him, his muscles spasming painfully. Once again, he tore through the attack despite the pain and paralysis and with an extended claw, slashed through the image of the Pikachu until it dispersed into nothing. Landing back on the floor, Tenebrae began to regain his breath whilst Sharada looked around at their surroundings. With the disappearance of the Pikachu, the thundery atmosphere also began to lift. Hearing a gentle thud, Sharada's face turned to panic as she noticed Tenebrae had fallen onto his side. With a lift of her foot, the brunette charged through the grass, "TENEBRAE!" she roared, quickly kneeling down to her partners side. "Hey, wake up, Tenebrae!" Checking over him frantically, Sharada ran her fingers through his soft fur but that alone surprised her. He had been zapped countless times, so why did he feel so smooth? Since it had all been an illusion, he wasn't actually physically hurt but more imagined and anticipated the pain, to the point where it mentally exhausted him.
As she continued to fuss over him, the Zorua began to stir. Eyes wincing painfully, they slowly opened, his startling blue eyes meeting with Sharada's own. Immediately looking more relieved, she smiled down at him, "What a relief... Are you alright?" Removing her hands from him, Tenebrae stood up to his feet, giving his body a rough shake to wake himself up some. But it was odd. One ear drooping and his tail hanging low, it appeared he had reverted back to his usual self as his eyes bore the same cowering expression as when they had first met. It was as if he had fainted from exerting so much energy and emotion, he wasn't usually like that. Looking around, he noticed the presence of Espeon had moved into the other room now that the Pikachu had disappeared. Glancing up to Sharada, his expression suggested that he wanted to follow in order to escape but he froze, feeling a caring hand cradle the side of his face. Blinking, he looked back to Sharada, "Back then, you saved me, Tenebrae. If you hadn't jumped in, I would've been hit for sure. Thank you." Sensing her words to be sincere, he didn't respond but instead looked to one side shyly.
For him, it was the heat of the moment. He couldn't fully trust Sharada yet but the fact that he was allowing her to touch him meant that something was atleast there. Closing her own eyes, she smiled, "And you really can battle. I knew you could do it!" Removing her hand, she stood back up to her feet, looking ahead at the new door which had appeared. "I guess now we have no choice but to carry on." She started, Tenebrae also turning on the spot to look, "If we wanna get out of here, we'll need to go that way." Remaining in his Zorua form this time, Tenebrae followed at the heel of Sharada as the pair both followed after the Espeon. Leaving the grassy, scenic room for a much more rustic room baring pillars, the two looked at their new surroundings, neither of them finding it particularly familiar. Her steps coming to a halt as she believed she was in the centre of the room, she caught a glimpse of a shine in the corner of her eye, looking up to spot the familiar Espeon.
Once again unaware of the much bigger picture, it was Tenebrae who picked up on the impersonators of Joey and Calistra standing across the room, his own body shuddering fearfully. Whilst Sharada may have been scared of being rejected or thunder and lightning, he was petrified of the illusion powers his sister possessed. They far exceeded any from the others in their clan, so much so, that he hated using illusions. Which was why he could only summon them in an act of life or death. Even transforming into a human pushed his usual limits, hence his ears and tail usually being on display as he would not use his powers seriously. But unlike Tenebrae, Calistra was ruthless and despite being a fake, the cold, emotionless gaze was something he had experienced countless times. Almost feeling weak again, the Espeon finally cut in, announcing that this was their final test in order to escape. Not yet realising who they were up against, Sharada began to turn her head, "We can almost get out of here Tene--" Her throat immediately becoming dry, Sharada finally set her eyes on their final trial, her own expression mirroring that of her Pokemon's.
Staring at the Joe before her, she couldn't find the words to speak or even control her thoughts. Jaw dropping and eyes widening, she took a slight step back and clearly appeared to be shocked, "J-Joey?" Grinning directly at her, she couldn't help but shake her head violently, as if trying to rid the image. "N-NO!" She cried out, trying not to fall for this trap despite someone she cared for being right in front of her. "T-This is a fake! N-No way! T-That idiot doesn't stop talking... So this can't be Joe!" Trying to convince himself of this too, Tenebrae still couldn't help but shake with worry. He had always been by the side of Calistra but no matter how much this illusion resembled her down to her very scent, he couldn't believe that she was here. Both of them hearing earlier that the only way of escaping was to fight, they looked to one another apprehensively. As their eyes met, both filled with the same doubt and hesitation, Sharada eventually spoke out. "If we don't do this, we'll be trapped in here forever." Looking back over, she flinched as she tried not to meet the Joey's gaze and instead looked down to his feet, where Calistra stood. Unaware of the fact Joey had since evolved her into a Zoroark, she couldn't really question why she was a Zorua. "Calistra is strong, I can only imagine a fake would be the same." Not exactly filling him with confidence, she didn't exactly feel great about this final test herself.
"I don't want to force you to fight someone you love. I... I understand that, at the very least." Clenching her fist, they were both finding this choice very difficult, "But if we don't, then we can't leave!!" Clenching her teeth tightly together, Tenebrae looked down to the floor himself. He had always been dubbed weak and useless, he knew that he couldn't win this. The Pikachu was different. They both agreed that humans were horrid creatures who were capable of unforgivable things but this was family. A strong, terrifying one at that. But maybe with the urge to track down his sister or maybe a more hidden, yet to surface yearning of wanting to become strong, he placed a single paw forward. "Tenebrae, stop." Sharada whispered painfully, only causing him to take another. Weary and oozing with fear, he was going to face his own insecurities. Biting her lip at how only moments ago she had applauded him for being brave and strong, she realised that she had back tracked once again. "You can do it, Tenebrae. I'm right behind you." With slight tears apparent in both of their eyes, Sharada glared directly at the Joe before her, whilst Tenebrae did the same to the fake Calistra. "We'll make it out of here and if we have to go through you... Then so be it!" Sharada's voice picking up a hint of confidence, it resonated within Tenebrae aswell. With a strong Leer, he stood his ground and attempted to intimidate his sister from afar.

Fear Path | Espeon watched as Sharada conversed with Tenebrae, taking a glance at the Joey and the Calistra she had conjured up. Her deep cobalt colored eyes landed upon the young Illusioned Zorua. How could Tenebrae have such love for someone who had treated him so terribly? How could he still look at her with any tenderness at all? Through Brother Espeon, she had observed the kind of thoughts that the real Calistra had about him, and it was something she just couldn't come to understand. As littermates, she and her brother would have never treated someone in such a way. So why?
Calistra watched Tenebrae as he stood to fight her. So he had decided, had he? The glint in her eyes was almost that of slight amusement. He was trying to intimidate her. Espeon watched from above, and though the illusioned Zorua was fronting a strong game, she saw a slight shiver trickle through its spine. Maybe she wouldn't have been scared, had it been the real Calistra, but at least she had formed enough of a point to make her Illusion able to stand these sorts of things.
Joey shot an arm out, and Calistra stepped forward. The look on her face was totally composed as she honed in on Tenebrae, eyes suddenly taking on a terrifying look that caused Tenebrae to step back slightly. The Zorua was shaking, but Espeon figured as much. These Illusions sometimes took their own mindset, and this one seemed to have Calistra's right about now.-----Battle!Joey's Calistra |♀ Level 8| HP: 26/26 HP Status: Defense -1! Allowing Tenebrae to make his own strategy and choices for this battle, Sharada stood back, watching the battle unfold before her. After this short while, it had atleast confirmed to her that this Joe was definitely a fake, "Joe is never this quiet so I know this is some sort of fake. But why? Who knows the connection between me and Joe?" Her mind wandering, she began to wonder if this was some sort of trap set up by Team Rocket. Hypnotica, a member of the neighbouring squadron, had incredible psychic powers. But what would her reason be for trapping Sharada in this world? They hadn't spoken enough to begin any grudges, it didn't make sense. Other than her, no one else knew of her fondness of Joe and his gang members. The Espeon was right before her but the brunette still didn't ask questions. She had briefly tried to earlier but it was to no avail. All she could do was help Tenebrae complete this final trail and in returning, hopefully gain an understanding to what all of this is about.
Not wanting to get too lost in her thoughts, she instead looked over to Tenebrae, noticing that he had started off defensively. Eyes leering, he picked up on the illusion wavering slightly but in return, sent a leer straight back his way. For a moment, he forgot that this was a fake. Staggering back, he had been met with that gaze countless times. Times of feeling humiliated, degraded and left all alone, knowing that his sister wanted to be rid of him once and for all. He knew and always had, that Calistra wanted nothing to do with him. Hunching his back and looking downward, Sharada didn't want him to give up. "Tenebrae! Get a hold of yourself!" Eyes widening, his ears twitched. "I didn't want to say this but just hurry up and forget about your sister!" Flinching in her mind at what she was saying, she continued, "She abandoned you, left you for dead! If she had somehow managed to escape from Team Rocket without my help, do you really think she would've saved you?!" Ears pinning to his head, the young Zorua clenched his eyes shut, already knowing the answer to that, "I was the one who saved you! I could've left you, both of you, back in that cage and only saved Doopliss. But I didn't, Tenebrae, I am here to give you another chance. One you should've gotten at the very beginning. But instead, you were forced to feel weak just because you didn't have the same personality as Calistra. She is fierce and uncaring but you, you haven't even had the chance to work out what type of Pokemon you are." Holding a hand to her chest, Sharada frowned her brow, "So when you're with me, I want you to forget Calistra altogether! If she didn't want to be your life line until you find your footing, then I will."
Eyes shooting open, Tenebrae looked once more across the room to the fake Calistra. Even he never understood why she had despised him from day one. It wasn't that he was weak but more that he didn't want to fight. He just wanted to live in peace with his clan but his lack of interest in becoming strong had led to their downfall. His mind now wandering, Sharada could tell that Tenebrae was remembering something painful. If only he had shown interest in learning to battle, maybe then he could've been the one to protect his clan from poachers. But he was young and naive, he wanted to live in peace and even coexist with humans out of intrigue. But look where that got him. The countless waves of hunters that would come after their clan led him to become scared of his own powers after witnessing what horrors Calistra could summon without even a shred of hesitation. His own ability was his downfall and he didn't want to become strong because he was scared of himself and what he could do to others.
Looking across to the still grinning Joe, Sharada wasn't sure how much longer this silence would continue on for and if left, would mean that the fake would get the upper hand. Clenching a fist, she needed to snap Tenebrae back into reality. "You can be strong! Anything and anyone can be, as long as you want to. I know that somehow, you can break out of the cage you are trapped in. I don't know what happened in your past but if you become stronger, you can protect others, so what happened to you wont happen to anyone else!" His shaking stopping, Tenebrae raised his head once again, "That is what my journey is about! I don't care about badges or some league games, I just want to travel, to better myself and protect those who need it." Trailing off, she pulled a look of disdain, "I know I am off track, I'm in Team Rocket. But that doesn't make me a bad person." Nodding her head, she had finally begun to realise what it was that she needed to do, herself. "There is someone in Team Rocket who is willing to give me a chance to improve and I'm gonna take it. I'm not there to be nasty to others or hurt Pokemon, I want to help destroy them from the inside so people aren't hurt and Pokemon like you are no longer poached!" Turning back to face her, Tenebrae finally bore a look of genuine interest, his eyes wide and mouth slightly open. "To do that, I need your help! I need the help of all of my Pokemon. But first, we need to get out of here... So how about it, Tenebrae? Will you help me and my selfish wishes?"
Neither of them speaking once again and merely looking into the eyes of one another, although it had been a messy ride, it was clear that an unbreakable bond had begun to form with both of them having mutual feelings. Tenebrae had stopped shaking. With Sharada, he was forced to remember his past that he was trying to desperately to forget. He wished he could just hide behind his sister for all eternity but now, he was unable to do so and had been forced down a different path. "Tenebrae. Your name means darkness." Sharada noted with a blank expression, "People are scared of what lurk in the shadows but I did not name you that in hopes of making you big, scary and fearful." Trailing off, she touched the tip of her chin with her fingers, "You have been blind to the world around you, you have only seen the bad, the dark." Closing her eyes, she managed a small smile, "But even the smallest candle can shed some light. Tenebrae, you aren't the darkness, you are the candle that will lead others through the endless black." Opening her eyes but still wearing a smile, she tilted her head slightly, "If you think I am wrong, I can change your nam--" "No." Startled, a child like voice, mimicking that of a young boy, echoed out. Although it was just the one word, it felt sincere, calm and gentle. It warmed her entire body. Loosening her shocked expression, Sharada managed to smile again and Tenebrae spoke once more, "Tenebrae is... My name now."
Turning back to the battle in unison, Sharada decided that the fact he spoke was enough to let her know Tenebrae was finally feeling more at ease with her, so dropped the conversation. That was more than enough, more than what she wanted. "It's time for us to get out of this trap." She stated with a smirk, "As much as I like this silent Joe, he'd get mad at me for liking a fake." Stomping forward, the only fear Tenebrae now held was the effect from the previous move. "It's your choice but maybe we should move onto the offensive. I dont know if these illusions are copying us or have a mind of their own so be on guard." Grinning openly, Tenebrae also bore a slight smile under his snout, "Remember that you're not alone." On these words, Tenebrae dashed forward into a speedy Pursuit, hoping to catch the Calistra off guard.

Fear Path | It seemed like they were getting closer, Espeon decided as she looked down on the battle below her. He was growing through this journey, that much she was sure of. Just as his sister and Joey had through their trials, Sharada and Tenebrae had been growing much closer since their ordeal began. Tenebrae had been scared to ever let Sharada touch him before, speak to him in such a way, but now...
Tenebrae shot towards Calistra, his legs going about as fast as they could carry him. It took a lot for him to fight Calistra, even as an illusion. but he'd pull through for Sharada. With all her might, he slammed into her frame, knocking her backwards and forcing her to skid.
Calistra shook out her fur, an audible growl coming from her throat. She shot towards Tenebrae, this time without the Illusional Joey's command, and struck out at Tenebrae's cheek, ripping into it with her claws and causing him to yelp, jumping back and shaking his head. As he did, blood splattered onto the floor below him. -----Battle!Joey's Calistra |♀ Level 8| HP: 20/26 HP Status: Defense -1! Calistra used Scratch! ...VS. Trying to focus on the battle at hand, Sharada couldn't quite keep the grin from her face. The situation they were in was by no means a pleasant one but right before her very eyes, Tenebrae was opening up and she couldn't wait for this to be over to strengthen their bond further. That is, unless Tenebrae was only forcing this emotion in order to get out of the trick but she somewhat doubted it. His voice and touch were gentle, so much so that watching him charge into an attack was as if she was watching a completely different Pokemon. No interfering with his choice of move, she tried to look more serious as her partner crashed into the body of the illusion of Calistra. Watching her skid back and ruffle up her fur looked too real, just like the tall presence of Joe who still loomed behind her. But Sharada was past that fear now, she knew that he was not Joe. He would not put her through this without a bit of a warning or atleast a joke, he was far too quiet and inanimate in comparison to the real deal. Not even giving his Pokemon an order, Sharada eyed the second Zorua as she dashed forward and with a lunge of her claws, lashed out at Tenebrae. As her own Zorua yelped out in pained and a splatter of red flickered across the ground, her fingers twitched. Times like this felt so real.
Staggering back, Tenebrae's eyes widened at the sight of red on the ground, his paw lifting to nurse the wound which had appeared across his face. Unsure of how to act, he was completely bewildered by this sharp, intensive pain which ran across his face. Taking a step forward, Sharada decided to make an order if it kept Tenebrae distracted from feeling fearful. "It's alright, you can pull through!" She called out to support him, his lone paw touching to the ground once again. "I don't think your attack was very effective, why don't you try doing what that fake just did?" With a sudden tensing on his paw, the male Zorua also sported a decent group of claws, much to his own surprise. "Just give it a go, Tenebrae. Remember, this isn't really Calistra, so you can go all out!" Her words being much easier said than done, Tenebrae tossed his head from side to side gently, before deciding to agree with Sharada's suggestion with a simple nod of his head. Glancing over his shoulder as if requesting an order, Sharada smiled back, "Go in for a Scratch attack!" Claws drawn, Tenebrae sped in to attack, this time via Sharada's order rather than his own instinct.

Fear Path | Espeon's eyes didn't leave Sharada, for the moment. She wondered how such a girl managed to fair up to now. But what was better at least, that Tenebrae looked a lot less afraid than he had been coming into this. She was trying to help him through this, and them working together was what mattered right now.
Calistra and Tenebrae charged towards one another once more as fake Joe also silently commanded her, and they clashed, but there was a strange shriek from Calistra as Tenebrae swiped his claws across her cheek. As they fell back down, she recoiled, her cheek dripping blood from the critical hit that had been landed.

With her order, Tenebrae dashed forward without even a slither of hesitation, his eyes locked onto the false Calistra which now bore the yearning of escaping this trap, with the help of his power. Sending a glare of her own to the silent Joey, who also commanded his own attack for Zorua, Sharada wrinkled her nose ever so slightly and just hoped that her partner would be able to pull through. She couldn't doubt him any longer or keep him shadowed from the world of fighting. It was going to happen one day and obviously, this had unlocked something inside of him to urge him to atleast try. Own claws extended from his paws, Tenebrae was faced with the sight of Calistra also dashing towards him. Both bearing similar speeds, the two collided together, claws drawn and eyes burning with a wild passion. Slashing his own, the young Zorua was struck by Calistra once again but not before he, too, reeled back and lashed forward himself. Feeling his sharp claws skid past the fur and across the flesh of the illusion of Calistra, he did flinch a little, just from how real it actually felt. Landing back on his paws and with an abrupt shake of his head, he was quick to dismiss the doubt, not wanting to shake his small amount of confidence.
Turning back, he looked over to Sharada to see her reaction, to which came a look of slight surprise. Tenebrae had landed a fierce hit, blood dripping from the side of the fake Calistra's face. If this were a real fight between the pair, it would lead into something devastating. But it wasn't and following in Tenebrae's lead, Sharada also had to push on. "Just like that, Tenebrae!" Sharada called firmly, a hand clenched into a fist, "With that hit, we're now on even ground." Noticing the slight pant in both of the Pokemon, she hoped this fight would end soon and preferably with Tenebrae as the victor. "Go in with another Scratch, Tenebrae! You've almost done this!" Breathing out, he noticed his own wound was still dripping blood to the floor. But once again acknowledging Sharada's desire to escape, he unsheathed his claws once more.
OOC: That's alright! Sorry that my quality of posts have dropped too, just been really busy! I'm still enjoying this though~ I can't wait to see the surprise, I think.

Fear Path | Espeon continued to watch the rest of the battle unfold below her. Tenebrae shot forward suddenly at the command and his claws tore against Calistra's chest as she was knocked backwards. She tried to stand up again, but both she and Joey watched as she fell back down, certainly out for the count.
Now Espeon knew it was time for the final test. It had to be done or she would feel she could never be sure if all this effort had been wasted. And so her eyes flashed a light green color. There was a loud cracking sound that could be heard resounding throughout the area. Tenebrae found himself teleported to the very center of the field, midway between Calistra and Sharada.
They were Pillars. Large, thin pillars that would each easily weigh in over a ton. And they were cracking, right above Sharada and Calistra. A sharp cry for help, sounding just like his sister would resound in his mind and he'd find himself looking between the two. Sharada would find that she couldn't move if she wanted too.
And then like that the Pillars started coming down upon them. But in the next instance time froze. The pillars, Sharada, and everything else in the room. Only Tenebrae remained along with espeon. "Tenebrae, I have given you enough time to save one of these two who your heart seems to care so much for. Please make the choice wisely." And with that, time started up again. He'd have just enough time to save one and one alone.-----Information! |

As Tenebrae felt his claws clashed against the body of Calistra once again, his large, blue eyes stared on as she fell to the floor. The sight was something of a surprise to Tenebrae, he only knew the strong side of his sister. She never showed any weakness or fear of humiliation in the form of losing. Yet there she was, knocked to the ground and clearly struggling to stand back up. Oddly, he didn't show any sign of pity or wanting to help her. Maybe it was because he knew that this was all nothing but a false illusion or just maybe, he had realised the true potential behind getting stronger. Not even taking into account the actions of the false Joe, he instead kept his gaze remained on Calistra. There was no pity, admiration or even hope that she would stand back up and fight. For that short moment, he was a void of emotion, as if to say he was prepared to move on. Catching her own stare one last time, she fell back to the floor and the battle was over. Prepared to turn to receive the expected praise from Sharada, the lone Zorua hadn't yet heard the voice of the female. Finally taking into account his surroundings, his body tensed up, realising that they had moved yet again. He hadn't even noticed and because of it, Sharada had disappeared.
Not being able to take a proper look around, his ears pricked up at a sound of cracking, eyes taking in the new scenery. Standing in the centre of a huge, endless field, his eyes would've set on Sharada first if a familiar howl hadn't filled his mind. Turning in the opposite direction, he first spotted Calistra, a partially cracked pillar hovering right over her head, ready to crack, break and crush her. The saddening Zorua cry still echoing in his mind, he managed to quickly turn away, briefly seeing Sharada in the same predicament before time froze around him and the Espeon appearing. Being told to choose, his eyes closed, realising that this was undoubtedly the final test. Between a human and his family, the choice would've been clear but since sharing such a small amount of time with the girl and the two both having similar fears and worries, he couldn't help but hesitate. Things were different now. With the time still frozen, Tenebrae slowly opened his eyes to the beautiful Espeon. "The choice would be obvious. For my sister would never allow herself to fall for such a trap." His tiny body suddenly picking a direction as time began once again, the sound of cracking quickly echoing through his ears. There truly was only one option in this case.
"She has faults, fears and constantly contradicts herself but her heart is in the right place. I couldn't protect my clan, I don't know the location of my sister but from now... I am going down a new path!" His eyes glowing, Tenebrae quickly changed into his child form, legs picking up in speed as the pillar began to crack away. "I want to learn about humans and I also want to be able to protect. I don't know if I will be able to do such things by myself but with her... I am sure we can progress together!" His tiny body jumping up into the air, Tenebrae focused his energy into summoning an illusion, a feat amazing in itself since he used to despite using them so much. With all his might, he summoned several fists which punched and jabbed at the pillar that continued to fall, about to put Sharada to a complete end. All of a sudden, the area erupted into a thick cloud of dust and debris, as Tenebrae and his illusion began bashing away at the pillar, destroying it bit by bit all until it had completely disappeared into dust. Landing gracefully back onto the floor on one knee, his ears picked up as the sound of coughing began coming closer.
Staggering forward, Sharada had finally began to move once again. Before, it was almost as if she had completely lost the will to move her body to try and get away or even the power to use her voice. One eye closed and hand raised to her mouth, the first thing she saw was Tenebrae, who had stood back to her feet in order to face her. His voice still resonating, he quickly glanced back to the Espeon as Sharada regained her composure. "Not all humans are evil. I want to put my trust in this one and maybe one day, humans and Pokemon can truly live in harmony together." Holding his hand out towards Sharada, for the very first time, he smiled warmly. "I have always wanted to trust humans. I knew there was atleast one nice one out there to form a bond with." Clearly flustered still, the sound of Tenebrae's voice truly was enough to warm her heart. Smiling as if nothing had just happened, she too put her hand forward, gripping it around Tenebrae's much smaller one, "I'm honoured... That you can... Trust me." Her grip tightening somewhat, she whimpered slightly but tried to hide her happiness with a large grin. The entire time she was frozen, all she could hope for was to be saved. But the fact that her mind had been more filled with Tenebrae rather than Joe had caught even her off guard. "Thank you... Tenebrae!" Abruptly pulling him forward, the young Zorua gasped in surprise as he was embraced by her arms. Gripping his hands at her sides, he smiled childishly, not even remembering that Calistra had earlier been a second option to save at that point.

Fear Path | Espeon hadn't really been able to properly predict the outcome of this choice that Tenebrae had to make. So, it indeed almost came as a surprise to her when he choose to save Sharada over his sister. Maybe it was because he realized she was an illusion. Or maybe it really would have been his choice in a real situation.
When he looked up to speak to her, she let her eyes widen a bit in surprise at hearing him say that, but then a softer look came to her face. She sighed deeply and as she jumped down from the pillar, the world around them began to look how it did when they had come down here. The tunnel was back, though still frozen in time all aside from them. It was like that as well that a normal colored espeon appeared beside her.
"You see that sister? Not everyone is so cruel after all." He murmured lovingly to his sister, who looked back at him with wide eyes. She then looked down at the floor. "I suppose you're right...perhaps I don't know enough about humans to judge every relationship with their Pokemon." She turned back to Sharada.
"Sharada. Tenebrae. You have shown me something today that I wasn't aware of before. How truly wonderful of a bond can bloom between Pokemon and Person. I'm sorry for the trouble my brother and I have caused you today." She said as brother espeon placed a bag at her feet. "Thank you, truly." She turned back along with her brother, turning to cast another look over her shoulder. "Perhaps...we may meet again under better circumstances."
And like that, time started again, and they were gone.

Still wrapped in their warm embrace, Sharada could feel the arms of Tenebrae tightening around her waist, which led her to do the same to him. Even though the trails had been a roller coaster ride which had almost led to the loss of their lives at some point, the brunette couldn't help but feel immensely grateful for them. Without what they had just gone through, the two would more than likely be awkward and uncomfortable but with this, even though it had been such a short space of time, it felt as if they had learnt something about each other. To the extent that a mere hug was enough to portray their feelings. Maybe it was because neither of them had much physical contact with others but for once, Sharada didn't feel alone. She of course had her entire team by her side but this held a different meaning. More than merely holding onto her friend. For Tenebrae had also been neglected in terms of love and for the two of them who had longed for the same thing so badly their entire lives, to be able to rely on one another in this way, it gave them both a feeling of relief. As if their search for one another had finally come to a close. Her faltered eyes slowly taking in their surroundings, Sharada lifted her head ever so slightly, realising that they were back in a familiar place. No longer were they trapped in a room of vicious Feraligatr or in an immense field ready to be shocked by a mutated Pikachu but they were back in Goldenrod Tunnel.
Her heart picking up a beat or two, Sharada knew that they were finally safe. "Is it... Over? Did we do whatever it was that the Espeon wanted?" Noticing that Sharada was looking around, Tenebrae also wearily lifted his head, icy eyes glancing around as he remained in his human form. The space around them was still but as he sniffed his nose, he picked up on another creature. A second Espeon, to be precise. Tugging at her clothes, Tenebrae directed Sharada's line of sight to the Espeon duo, to which Sharada's eyes softened. The Espeon had done as promised, which was return them to their world if they completed the trails. Adding her own words onto the end, Sharada knew there was a deeper meaning behind this, as the Psychic type almost spoke apologetically. Still holding back on endless questions that she wanted answering, at that point, none of it mattered. She was now back in the tunnel and also held a much closer bond to her Zorua. She could not complain. "No, don't be sorry. I wish I could understand the reason behind it but... As long as Tenebrae is safe, that is all that matters to me." Glancing down to Tenebrae, she gave his head a delicate pat, "We still have so much more to learn but it will come with time." Closing his eye as he felt her hand ruffle his hair, Tenebrae also chimed in, "The bond we have formed will only tighten. I am in your debt for helping me to understand that I, too, can make a difference without relying on my sister." Mouth parting, Sharada dove in too, "And me without Joe!... I have been worried about what he thinks of me. But really, I should be thinking more for myself. If I keep relying on him, I will never progress." Nodding their heads in unison, it seemed they both needed to step out of the shadow of their loved ones.
Noticing a bag placed close to her, Sharada took another look to the Espeon pair as they spoke their farewells. "Ahh! Wait!" Before she could speak her words, the duo had disappeared and with it, life returned to the underground tunnel. After a few moments, they both realised that they looked a little strange by standing in the middle of the walk way so quickly made their way to a quieter area. As they both stood at the entrance of a corridor, Sharada sighed out loud to herself, "They both left before we could thank them. I know it was scary but... It helped, right?" Turning her attention to Tenebrae, she hoped that he felt the same. "I believe we were placed in that situation to form a bond of some kind. They were successful." Looking to Sharada with wide eyes, they exchange glances in silence before Sharada chuckled softly and nodded her smiling face. "Yeah. I feel that I can rely on you now, without feeling guilty." Shaking his head from side to side, Tenebrae did not want it to be the case of Sharada being nervous when approaching him. "I may not excel in battle but I would like to remain by your side. I wish to learn more about you as a human and also the world in which we live."
Tilting her head slightly, she didn't want to push him into something he didn't want to do but after witnessing him battle in the trails, she couldn't help but feel as if he were holding back. "I wanna learn more about you too but... Are you sure you don't wanna get stronger?" Immediately holding her hands up, she didn't want Tenebrae to get the wrong idea or think that she was merely using him for battling purposes. Not offended in the slightest, Tenebrae closed his eyes and after a moment of pondering, looked back up. "I understand the yearn to become strong but do not feel compelled to do so. Maybe I have been blind in that regard but... I do not feel myself as a warrior." Raising a hand to his chin, he sighed, "I am frightened of becoming hurt. I am sorry for my--" "NO! Do not apologise Tenebrae." His expression perking up as she was quick to cut him off, a slight blush crossed his face as he slowly looked away. He wanted to avoid being babied by Sharada and so began to consider the prospect of battling. "I would like to protect others. I understand humans are fragile creatures. Whilst I can not control my fears, I wish there was some way I could participate in battle... As a scout. Until I gather the courage to accomplish more." His words causing Sharada to think deeply, the idea was a understandable one but nothing sprang to mind instantly.
"So... You wanna be able to enter the battle but then leave if it becomes too tough? I could always just call you back." Shaking his head from side to side, she was missing the point, "I cannot merely watch or be entered and then brought straight back out. I need my claws to experience a collision." Frowning, the brunette scratched at her cheek gently with her finger and turned on the spot. Looking around to try and consider some options, a poster suddenly caught her eye. It was an old advertisement for the bug catching contest held during the summer months and as if hitting her like a train, she figured it out. "I... I think I have an idea!" Immediately beginning to rummage through her belongings, Tenebrae stepped closer with a look of innocent curiosity, instantly backing up when she brought out a strange item. "This is a Technical Machine! I put it against your Pokeball and it'll teach you a move. I'm not sure exactly how, maybe you'll be able to explain it to me better than my other Pokemon." Smiling, she lent forward and waved the disc at the Zorua. "I got this move from my last gym battle, it's called U-Turn. With this, I can send you into battle and order the move. Once you hit, you'll be able to return straight back to me. With this, you can scout our opponents, hit 'em and then withdraw. It'll help me by seeing what we could be up against and also help you get experience in battles."
His face pulling a look of child like surprise, it sounded like just the thing he was thinking of, "Yes! I would appreciate a move such as that!" Grinning at his politeness, it was almost odd to think the very same Pokemon had been experimented on by humans. "Okay, let's try this out then." Attaching the disc to the Pokeball, it appeared to whir as if downloading some information and then all of a sudden, Tenebrae bolted upright. "A-Ah! I understand! As if the information flowed right into me!" "W-Woah, really?!" Both of them acting as equally surprised as each other, she couldn't help but give him a slight look of concern, to which he tried to brush off. "I am well. I believe with this, I can try to enter battles. After all, I wish to repay you for saving me and my sister." His final words being enough to knock the wind out of Sharada's sails, it was not something that she expected to hear. "Y-You have save me too, more than you may think." Rubbing the back of her head, she braved the first step forward, "C'mon. Follow my lead for now. I'll ease you into it, so put your trust in me."
Following Sharada out of the shadows, it was almost as if Tenebrae had some sort of switch inside of him, as the sight of other people suddenly made him a cowering wreck. "A-A-Ah." "It's okay, just hold onto my hand." Subtly reaching for his hand only to feel his fingers grip tightly onto hers, she knew his sudden development was too good to be true. Willing to converse one on one, as soon as they stepped out into the open, he suddenly became less willing. But that was fine as talking was such a huge leap, it was more than enough for her. Wanting to show Tenebrae that battling did not only mean survival but was also sometimes friendly skirmishes or to make new friends, the brunette kept her eye out for possible opponents. Tenebrae was not ready to scout just yet but maybe once he was more comfortable and confident, she would allow him to try searching on his own.

As Sharada and Tenebrae walked out of the shadows into the well lit area of the Goldenrod tunnel things seemed to be normal. Since the Espeon twins left there were no more signs of illusions of any other trickery going on. The feeling of normality did not last long however as in the distance a horrible moaning could be heard. Sounding something among the lines of " OOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" the noise was quite creepy and would likely send chills down the spine of anyone who would have heard it. For some reason no one else seemed to notice the noise. Adding to the creepiness factor various objects started to fly around in circles surrounding the pair. It seemed like it had to be an illusion as no one else had taken any notice of the terrifying site of flying objects but as a pair of scissors flew towards Tenebrae and cut a small part of his hair it proved to be very real. Just as things could not seem to get any creepier the people around them disappeared into thin air. It was then that the entire area changed it's appearance from looking like the goldenrod tunnel to instead looking like an abandoned old room. Pictures lined the walls of the room they found themselves in depicting various Pokemon mostly legendary ones such as Ho-oh and Lugia but one picture was incredibly creepy. It was a picture of Sharada and Tenebrae but he had evolved into a Zoroark which as he had not evolved yet made it a very strange picture. Just as everything became completely freaky at this point the moaning they had heard before everything changed it's appearance started up again but this time it came from just a few inches behind them. The moan again sounded like something was either suffering or trying to scare them " OOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" and as Tenebrae turned around he saw a Gastly floating behind him. The ghost began to laugh as Tenebrae began to shake like a wet dog after getting a bath. " How do you like my illusions. I pride myself on making battles happen in a more fitting location. It looks like your friend over there is scared half to death but as I can see the future I can tell he has a ton of potential." The ghost said as it hovered around Sharada and Tenebrae just waiting to see what they would do. As the ghost looked at the pair it decided to fight Sharada to see just how good she was even with the aura of strength radiating off of her. " I can tell you are quite a strong trainer but I want to see exactly how good you are. Now select a Pokemon so we can get this battle started." It said hoping Sharada would accept it's challenge. A lv24 Gastly has appeared and challenged you to a battle. Please select a Pokemon.
