With the Tauros beaten but seemingly still alive and well, Sandy and her team could set their sights moving forward in Route 38. As the young woman progressed through the area, a thick fog set in and covered the entire immediate area. It was nigh on impossible to see just ten metres ahead, let alone see any wild Pokémon, and the wind had chilled quite considerably to boot. It would've been an uncomfortable walk for anyone, for sure. The wildlife stumbled and staggered through the Route, trying to get some sense of what was ahead of them. Sandy would be able to hear a few crashes in the distance from accidents caused by the low visibility, but their cause would remain unknown to her. Fortunately for her, she wouldn't have to see at all to find her next encounter, as it would be coming to her whether she liked it or not. In the distance, a young Pachirisu dragged itself through the long grass, bumping into trees and rocks alike as it tried to find its way back home. It carried a plump Oran Berry with it as a snack, gripping onto it for dear life so as to not lose it in the fog. It took a nibble of the berry and assessed its situation, looking for any sign of a way back to its nest. At that moment, it perked up, hearing something in the distance. One more bite of its berry later, it slowly made its way toward the noise, curiosity getting the better of it. As it approached the noise, it sniffed the air and froze in place. It smelled like a human. This was most certainly not the way back to the nest. It was completely and utterly lost by this point. As it realised this, its entire body trembled with frustration. It had spent the entire day wandering around, and it was getting quite tired. Sandy's figure began to become visible to the little Pachirisu, and it decided it was going to take all of its problems out on this one human. It devoured the rest of its berry in one large gulp before approaching Sandy, cheeks puffed out.
A wild Pachirisu (Level 24) has appeared! Will Sandy fight or flee?Note: Fog will be in effect for this battle

The fog had set in so suddenly, and Sandy was trying so hard to see through the fog, but it was making it hard to go anywhere. "Where did this come from all of a sudden?" She murmured softly as they pushed on. Berry tried to get a better a look by climbing from Sandy's shoulder to her head. <<Ugh...I can't see anything.>> she muttered, Hotaru straightening herself up and sniffing the air.
<<I could try and sniff out a path.>> she suggested, Berry raising an eyebrow in question. <<How? Doesn't every rock smell the same?>> Now that Hotaru heard it from someone else, the idea did sound a bit silly. Instead however, the group was inturrupted by the call of yet another angry Pokemon.
This time, Hotaru was able to see the small electric rat through the fog, and she jumped in front of Sandy in order to defend her. "W-We're not here to cause any trouble little guy..w-we just.." but it didn't seem the Pachirisu was listening, and Hotaru didn't waste a moment preparing an assurance attack.

Though Hotaru could make out her foe in the fog it was still very hard to see yet alone keep track of the electric type. The weather worked both ways however as Pachirisu had a hard time following Hotaru's movements, as hard as it was however Pachirisu was so fast that it decided to take a risk and close the gap with a spark attack relying on the fog to conceal its movement until it could strike. Even with the poor visibility it was able to close the distance in the matter of seconds sending a spark of electricity towards Hotaru's nose. She wined from the pain caused by the spark but the pain only drove her desire for revenge, she smacked the small rodent across the face with her paw causing massive damage and scaring the daylight out of Pachirisu. As the fear subsided the fog only grew worse. The thickness of the fog made it nearly impossible to track each other but Pachirisu wanted to punish Hotaru for such an embarrassing strike. Its cheek as was bright red from the smack and the electric type was going to try and really get some payback this time. The squirrel ran towards the direction it had last seen Hotaru and searched for her. A few seconds passed before Pachirisu found Hotaru sniffing around as it snuck up behind her. This time Pachirisu sent a spark aimed right at the poor hounds rear end causing her to leap up in pain and shock, Pachirisu had made a grave error of sticking around and laughing instead of making a getaway as Hotaru charged at it and smacked the other side of Pachirisu's face knocking it out. None of the damage Hotaru had taken would be permanent however she was not at all proud that Pachirisu had managed to sneak up on her given her powerful nose and it would probably bug her for a little while. Battle
Pachirisu | Level 24 | HP: 0% (0/70) Status: Normal, Used Spark x2! VS. Sandy's Hotaru | Level 24 |Quick Feet HP: 56% (42/75) Status: Normal Used Assurance x2!(Power doubled on each hit)
Hotaru fought well and gained 3 levels and +1 happiness. She now has +5 happiness and is level 27 with 0/2269 experience needed to level up.

Hotaru bounded around happily on her paws when the Squirrel went down, though now Sandy still couldn't help but feel a little bad. They had disturbed it after all, so the fact they had to fight it like that really did bother her in the least bit. but they were out here to train, and Hotaru seemed stronger already. She signaled to the dog and Hotaru wagged her tail as she bounded after Sandy and Berry, clearly ready to continue training.

With the fall of the tiny squirrel, it was time to keep moving for Sandy and Hotaru. They -had- disturbed the poor creature, and were about to disturb a few more before their training session was complete. The fog was dissipating, leaving way for the rest of Route 38 to be explored. What new adventures would lie in store? The ground was littered with Taurous hoof-prints, indicating there was a herd that had passed by recently. If further examined, Sandy would see they were relatively fresh. Would that mean they'd pass by here again soon, or that they were done with this place for a while? Risks were involved in every aspect of Pokemon training. Wild Pokemon sneaking up on you were no different. As the last remnants of fog disappeared, a single whirring, clacking creature remained. It's single eye was fixed on Sandy with an angry stare, screws on the polished front of it's body whirring quickly. It was building up electricity and power, no doubt already focusing it's efforts for a battle. A fellow user of electric type moves, it was probably annoyed that Pachirisu had been taken down. It's magnet's spun at it's side as it waited for Sandy to make the first move (and possibly to make sure that the trainer had even NOTICED it. Magnemite wasn't all that big.) As time progressed, the whirring only got faster and louder as Magnemite's impatience grew. Mag....nemite. Maaaaaaaaaaag. Nemite. Wild Magnemite has attacked! (Level 22) Will you Fight or Flee?

OOC: Spirit Used Flame Wheel | "Hotaru." Sandy's voice was soft yet stern as she spoke to the wolf Pokemon standing there, proudly admiring her work. "I know you want to play with the Pokemon around, but maybe we should be a little more carful. You don't know what will happen if we just go off and pounce on any old thing that happens to be on the path." After all, things like that had gotten them in trouble before, she recalled. But she watched Hotaru's ears twitch before lowering in a disappointed matter, and she smiled to reassure Hotaru that she wasn't really in trouble. "I'm not upset with you, just be more mindful of the other creatures around you." she added, Hotaru giving a cheerful bark to let her Trainer know she understood.
But it seemed like it was a little late for the trio to make amens, because an angry whirring turned Sandy's attention behind them. A buzzing Magnemite looked fuming, and it seemed as if the Pachirisu they defeated had been its friend. Sandy held her hands out carefully. "Now Now, there's no need to be rash, you don't understand," she said, wondering if the Pokemon understood her words at all. "Pachirisu was...well, we sort of disturbed it during a meal and well..." it didn't seem the mechanical Pokemon was into an explanation, and Sandy took a step back as Hotaru stood in front of her.
'I'll protect you Sandy!' Hotaru barked out. Even if the human couldn't understand word for word, her shoulders seemed to untense a little. Sandy felt a shift on her shoulder and Berry climbed down to the rest of the Pokeballs on Sandy's belt. 'Think you mutt! If you bite that thing your teeth are going to fall out. Let's leave it to someone who can handle it!' She wasted no more time in pressing one of the buttons, and Sandy watched as the mechanism released a bright light which materialized into her Ponyta, Spirit.
He snorted as his eyes adjusted to the light, and he glanced from the angry Pokemon to his trainer and party. 'What have you idiots done now?' he asked Berry, who sighed. 'Look, as much as I love dealing with your brooding ways on a normal basis, we need your help to take this thing out quick, Horse.'
'Maybe you would get it faster if you stopped calling me Horse.' Sandy placed a hand on Berry's shell, able to tell whatever conversation they were having probably wasn't going anywhere good. "Spirit, could you help us out with a Flame Wheel, please?" Sandy asked. The fire horse snorted.
'Fine, but don't say I never do anything for you.' With that his attention shifted to the Magnemite, and he charged.

The magnemite whirred and waggled charging up its electrical energy, ready to shoot a spark forward and avenge the pachirisu. It was still mid-charge up when Spirit began to charge forth at it, summoning a ball of fire that grew into a wheel. The magnetic pokemon was about to unleash its spark when the flame wheel hit it square in the eye and knocked it out with one hit right into a puddle. Spirit huffed and ground his hoof. The job had been too easy and over too quick. "Bah! Using a fire type against a steel type is so cheap," a voice spoke out from somewhere behind Sandy. A strangely dressed young man hopped down from a nearby tree, landing behind her with a thud. He had black hair which was perfectly swept up into a point and vibrant purple robes with a black sash at the waist. He wore no shoes. "Must have been those cheap tricks that allowed you to beat Callie!" The young man struck a pose as came into full view of Sandy and her team. He threw his pokeball in the air and made it hover with his psychic abilities. He grinned and looked to see if Sandy was impressed, or better, intimidated. "My name's Greg, and I'm here to avenge my girlfriend, Callie! I saw you two battling on Chatter and she swore revenge on you. If I beat you, I bet she'll finally go on a date with me!" "Fight me! I followed you all the way from Route 37 and I won't take no for an answer," Greg changed his pose and with a flick of his wrist summoned his Drowzee who struck a matching pose as it appeared next to him. "Drow-Drow is gonna trounce you!"The duo were a bizarre sight to behold. PSYCHIC GREG AND HIS DROWZEE ARE CHALLENGING YOU TO A BATTLE! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Battle Weather: flooding

OOC: Hotaru used Bite! | Sandy watched as the battle endedjust as quickly as it had started. Hotaru wagged her tail in appreciation of Spirit's fine and quick work. The horse snorted, giving a stamp of his hoof, turning back around to Sandy. 'Am I free to continue my nap now, or do we need to help a Skitty out of a tree first?' Sandy smiled at him, holding up his Pokeball. "Sorry for disturbing you buddy, take a rest." she said as the light from the ball came to retrieve the horse once again. Sandy placed the ball back on her belt.
Berry shook her head. 'That horse is always so crusty...' she mumbled to herself. Sandy glanced down at her watch. "How long do you to think we've been at training for?" she asked,to which her Squirtle shrugged. She supposed that maybe they should be heading back soon, but she was also considering extending their training day. They would need it to face the Gym, as Sandy has already learned what happened to trainers who would face a gym unprepared, glancing to the scar on Berry's shell as a reminder.
The rude tone of a voice snapped Sandy out of her thoughts, she she turned to face who had been speaking to her. "Cheap? I-I mean maybe, but type advantages are perfectly fair in a Pokemon Battle." She said as the man continued to berate her. For doing what...trainers do. Berry scoffed. 'Who in Lugia's name does this guy think he is? Let me tell you one thing if he thinks we're going to let him talk to her like that--' A small growl from Hotaru stopped Berry, and she looked down to see the hound's eyes focused on the man.
"Call- oh right...the girl with the chatter..." she mumbled once she had realized just who he was talking about. Did he read all those things she wrote during their battle? "Wait...finally? How is she your girlfriend if she hasn't gone out with you once?" Sandy seemed more surprised when he mentioned he had followed her here. "Followed me? You...do know this isn't chatter, right? Not to be rude but I don't exactly remember stalking being legal. If you wanted a battle, you could have just asked without following me."
Hotaru didn't seem to care about the type advantages this man was complaining about, because in the next moment she had charged forward with a Bite Attack. Berry only shrugged from Sandy's shoulder. 'Your trainer picked the wrong pooch to piss off.' She said to the drowzee.

Lightning crackled overhead and the sky darkened ominously, pregnant with rain. The wind howled like a banshee and the conifers writhed and flailed in terror as though afraid of the approaching storm. A few light drops of rain quickly escalated to a heavy downpour, hammering the tall grass unforgivingly soaking it through to the roots and turning the route into a boggy quagmire. The nearby river burst its banks and crept closer and closer towards where Sandy and Greg were standing. Greg's bare feet sunk into the boggy terrain but he almost enjoyed the mud ooze through his toes. He was deeply insulted at the suggestion that his relationship with Callie wasn't the real deal. "Haven't gone out? Please, sounds like you ain't in the dating game these days," argued Greg. "Banetteflix and chill was so last year, now it's all about Pokemon and Go." The Psychic turned around suddenly to his Drowzee who seemed to be trying to communicate through telepathy. ~Master, that wolf has strong jaws and sharp fangs, I have a bad feeling about this...~ Greg appeared to disregard his Pokemon's concerns and was too busy trying to win the argument against this blonde trainer with blue highlights. "I'm Psychic you know, I can read your mind. You know my ex... you may have heard about her.. Sabrina, the Saffron City Gym Leader... we dated for about two years. Never saw her in real life but we talked all the time through telepathy. Just so you know if I wanted to stalk you I'd follow you around with a little voice inside your brain and I wouldn't have to even take one step."The sudden downpour seemed to have abated but the floodwaters continued to rise rapidly. Hotaru snarled aggressively and charged visciously at the Drowzee who cowered as the hyena Pokemon snapped at the tapir's paunchy body. "How predictable!" scoffed Greg. "I got you figured out. Love your type advantages dontcha? Well I can see the future too and let just say your Pokemon's gonna be taking a nap soon and Drow-Drow over there's gonna Headbutt it back to New Bark Town!"Sure enough as Greg had predicted the Drowzee waved its hands rhythmically and the violent biting of Hotaru stopped. Multicoloured circles emerged as the Psychic type continued to make shapes with its hands hypnotising its target. Hotaru curled up into a tight ball and whimpered softly in her sleep. OOC: Switched out Hotaru for Berry, who used Water Pulse | Sandy wasn't exactly too sure that she had a proper grip on what this guy wanted from her. Battles were all about timing and type advantage, weren't they? What good was it when you pit fire against water? Maybe there was more that this guy understood than she did, she wasn't so positive however. He mentioned not going out with Callie, and all these new terms that maybe Sandy would have understood if she was more connected to the internet world.
However, whatever the other kids knew that she didn't these days, it was probably best not to inquire as to what it was he spoke about. She couldn't be sure they were pleasant activities for any man apart from the one before her. "Uhm...if you say so." she mentioned.
But that didn't save he from having to listen to the man's rant about his supposed ex girlfriend, the Gym Leader of Saffroncity in Kanto. Berry only snorted at his outrageous claim.
Sure, Jan. Probably bullshit, but sure.
Sandy raised an eyebrow. "If you...never saw her in real life, are you sure it was you know...actually Sabrina?" Somehow, she felt she'd regret asking that question. Slightly exasperated with this man's onslaught as Hotaru fell asleep, she quickly recalled the hound into her Pokeball. "Fine, don't want a type advantage? Berry, use Water Pulse!" Berry nodded, knowing full well she'd take the brunt of whatever attack had been waiting for Hotaru, she prepared her own attack.

The downpour of rain continued as lightning flashed across the sky. Drops of rain made a very hard pattering sound as it touched the patches of grass and the soil beneath it. The booming sound of thunder accompanied the gray, cloudy sky as the river churned and twisted through the rain adding more water to it. Greg laughed as the female trainer asked such a naive question. "Of course, it was the real Sabrina! She and I have been destined for each other through our psychic abilities!" As he argued more, he began going through a series of motions with his hands, likely an attempt to contact Sabrina again. He closed his eyes, took a deep breath and waited. After a few minutes, he opened them with a much bigger revelation to tell through his telepathic connection. "I see it now, Sabrina has contacted me to tell me that she has a desire to see me again!" Why was this girl thinking it was an outrageous claim? He and Sabrina were soulmates for life, it was not strange that he would understand what she was going through as a fellow psychic. His Drowzee nodded in agreement to that statement, outrageous or not anyway. As Sandy withdrew her Mightyena, Berry the Squirtle was sent out to take Hotaru's place. The blue turtle Pokemon opened her mouth as a pulse of water shot out, and doused the psychic tapir Pokemon who was knocked back from the impact. "Drow-Drow, hang in there! Use Psybeam!" Drow-Drow's eyes glowed an unearthly blue glow as his hand motions brought forth a beam of psychic energy directed towards Berry. Trainer Battle (Weather = Water Sport)

OOC: Berry used Water Pulse. | Sandy didn't understand very much about this man's motives. Maybe she was stupid? Or the more correct answer was that maybe this man just didn't know what he wanted. She didn't want to let on that he wasn't really impressing her trainer to trainer with these outrageous claims, the truth was that she didn't care much for any of that. Training had been what her team had come out here to do, and as far as she was concerned, that was all this was. She didn't want to sit around and listen to his tales.
But being who she was she didn't want to be rude. However, she did have...quite the question. "Wait, I thought you were doing this for Callie?" she said, since that was the original reason that he had challenged her in the first place. "So...what would you care what Sabrina wants now?" she highly doubted that she'd contact him at such am interestingly timed moment anyway, but she decided not to ask about it right now. "I just...I'm sorry, I just don't see where all these different things you're telling me connect. Sabrina or Callie, I'm sorry if I sound rude but I don't really care which one you're seeing, I just...agreed to battle you because that was what you wanted." she said, looking down at Berry who shook her head, and she smiled for the turtle. "One more Water Pulse please, Berry."

The pitter patter sounds of rain mixed with the roaring river waters continued as both trainers were trying their earnest to finish this battle once and for all. As much as Greg would love to stay here, and get even more wet under the harsh rainstorm, he had a job to do which was to show this young lady just how much he was a big Sabrina fanatic. Perhaps the only Pokemon who truly understood him was Drow-Drow himself. Strong winds began howling through the storm as Drow-Drow tried to hold his ground throughout. Drow-Drow rolled his eyes at the girl's statement, but nonetheless, he would stand by his trainer's assertion that Greg was Sabrina's only soulmate. Meanwhile, Greg himself was going off of a tangent again as he pointed a finger at the girl. "You don't understand the bond we share! The connection Sabrina and I felt as we telepathically spoke!" To the average trainer passing by, it may look like Greg was going off his rocker for a moment there. In any case, Drow-Drow's eyes grew wide with shock as another pulse of water made its way to the psychic tapir and he was doused by his watery defeat. As Drow-Drow was toppled over in a collapsed heap, Greg's mouth could only gape in utter shock and humiliation. How could he, the master of Psychic powers, be defeated?! As the Psychic returned Drow-Drow back into his Pokeball, he sulked as he handed Sandy her prize money. "Here's your prize money, now I will be off. Don't think this is over yet!" The dark-haired Psychic trudged away with Drow-Drow's Pokeball in an annoyed huff,, muttering something about people not understanding how Psychics bonded with each other. At last, the rain along with the grey clouds parted to reveal the sunny clear skies again. The river along the route had quieted down a notch though puddles of rain still remained on the grassy ground. All that remained on the patches of grass was a little bit of drops on the blades, but soon enough, the puddles of rainwater would dry up under the sun's heat. Sandy earned £675 for winning the battle!Hotaru gained 725 exp! She also gained +1 happiness!Berry gained 725 exp! She also gained +1 happiness!
