The current situation within Cherrygrove City was a puzzling one. Not only was there a problem with their water supply but it sounded like something else was happening in a nearby area known as Blue Moon Falls. Which was resulting in the gentle species, Quagsire, fleeing from the supposed crystal clear water there. Something strange was going on and both Megan and Astrid felt the need to investigate further. Parting from Guide Gent with very little information but a tasty looking Rage Candy Bar in hand, the duo wandered outside of the city, their feet simply taking them where the nearby lake drifted, at their own pace. But the further they followed the water around the far outskirts of the city, the more they were able to notice a change in the water. It already looked murky but now it was beginning to look more like sludge with a glistening top layer, as if it was oil. Looking up, the water they were following was leading them towards the nearby Chemical Plant.
It was very clear to see that there was a severe problem. To start with, there were no souls in sight but finding nearby workers probably wouldn't help. After all, one would have to be practically blind to be able to miss the issue. Pipes which were supposed to spew out water were instead releasing waves of sludge and grime. The air was laced with the scent of toxins, it didn't feel safe to stick around for too long. But nearby to the entrance was a set of valves, most of them looked impossible to turn without a good bit of force but a single one seemed to have been turned recently. Would turning it back help fix the problem or make things worse? That was up to Megan and Astrid to decide.
Sludge is piling into the water. Turn the nearby valve or leave it be?

As they were leaving the Guide Gents house Megan pulled Ponchos pokeball off her hip and returned the dog as he was exhausted from all the running previous. Instead she grabbed a newer pokeball from her hip and out popped her Budew and placed her in her arms. This was all new to the young pokemon and the traveling was exciting!
As the two women moved at a good place Megan kept glancing over to Astrid watching the women to make sure everything was going alright, but she kept up at a reasonably good pace. They followed along the water and moved further from the outskirts of town. The further they got the worse the water started looking as they kept following the worst of it right to the chemical plant.
Watching the pipes spew sludge Megan pulled her jacket over her nose trying to mask the stench that was being emitted into the air, "I think we've found part of the issue," She said her voice muffled from covering it. Megan pointed towards the valves by the entrance, "Think the valves will do anything? Should we try?" She asked her partner waiting for a reply.

They were giving a direction and set off, Astrid walked as fast as she could since time was on the essence here. As they reached the water they went upstream, Astrid trusted Megan and Guide Gent to know the way and they definitely got closer to something. The water looked worse and the smell soon became close to unbearing and the green along the river didn't look good either. Astrid covered her nose and mouth with some cloth as they continued and looked worried around. This would require a lot of cleaning and would take a long time before it was restored back to its former healthy self. At least it didn't look like there was a lot of sick pokemon laying around so hopefully they had all managed to run away before it affected them.
They soon reached the culprint of the whole mess and Astrid stared in disbelief and disappointment. "This is a disaster," Astrid answered equally muffled and shook her head sadly. "It is clear the sludge comes from those pipes and polutes the water, they should never have been allowed to be placed so close to the river!" She continued upset and ordered Cyan to stay back while she went closer to take a look at the valves. They were big. She tried to give it a slight pull but it was stuck and she knew Megan couldn't move them either, even though she had a youth's strength. These weren't made a couple of persons to move, they needed to be a lot more, or have a pair of machamps!
"We cannot do anything here other than inform the Police or the authorities, this cannot be legal, Let us get out of here." Astrid said and resolutely went down the stream. After a bit she paused though and looked at Megan. "What about the fall though, we have not met it yet and there was the quagsires who needed help, I think we should try find those first and see what we can do there," she said.

Unable to turn the valves due to a lack of team strength, the sludge continued to pour out of an open pipe and into a water source below. There was no telling if this was what was effecting the situation around Cherrygrove City or not. The only thing that was clear was that it wasn't healthy. It was strange that there weren't any sort of workers to be seen, anywhere. So for now, the most they could do was keep it in their minds as they moved on and alert the authorities when they were able to. Until then, they decided to keep moving, incase they would find some other clue.
Leaving the Chemical Plant, the two trainers followed the stream, toward the general direction of Blue Moon Falls where the local, protected Quagsire were said to live. Though all they could see was murky, inhabitable water, an oil like film glaze over the top, which shone colourfully under the glaze of the sunlight. But as they continued to wander, another sight was able to distract them. An odd sight considering the state of the water, perched near the bank was a tall apple tree, filled to the brim with delicious red fruit. On closer inspection, the leaves were dry and withered and branches looked dull in colour and weak. There was no doubt that the apples were likely turning bad, along with the rest of the tree but surely there was one or two which were still edible. Due to the weakness of the tree, it was likely that some of the apples would fall even with a gentle nudge.
Megan and Astrid came across a slightly withered apple tree! Shake the tree to claim some fruit or leave it be?

While Astrid tried to turn the pipes but to no avail, Megan figured they must be rather stuck in place. She scowled. Astrid spoke up about needing to alert the police and Megan nodded her head agreeing with the older woman.
The two women then started walking, continuing their search for anything that they may be able to help in. Astrid remembered about the Quagsires at the Falls and that they needed to be helped. Megan voiced her agreement, as they headed toward Blue Moon Falls on a hill near the falls was a tall tree. Megan picked up pace and jogged over to it, Budew held in her arms. She took a closer inspection to the tree and noticed that the leaves were dry and the whole tree looked dull, like it was dying. "Astrid! Look at this poor tree! Let's see if there is a couple that may still be good as many of the apples look to be rotten.." She looked closer and thought that the tree may be budged with a little sharking, she sat Budew down out of harms way from some falling apples and looked to the older woman, "Astrid, do you think you can help me shake it?" the younger red-haired woman inquired to her quest partner.

Astrid wore a disgusted expression as they walked down along the river, this was really smelly and didn't look healthy at all. There may be some who wouldn't draw the connection between the chemical plant and the damage to the environment, but for Astrid it was crystal clear. What else could it be? She was furious that someone could be so careless and do this to the water, as this didn't only affect the pokemon but also the habitants in Cherrygrove. Children could be harmed by this! Cyan walked by Astrid's side, and she made sure he was on the far side compared to the river. She was not going to risk him at all. He was on the other hand really quite and did his best to behave well as she was unsure why Astrid was angry and didn't want to risk her scolding him.
As the tree appeared Astrid looked at it with astonishment, how could it be so fresh and bear fruit when everything else around looked like ti was dying? Megan walked ahead when she noticed the tree and Astrid did her best to catch up with her. "What?" Astrid said worried as she got closer and heard what Megan had to say. "Oh no, I hoped it was alright," she said sadly and sternly ordered Cyan not to touch the tree or the apples. "Do you really think some of them would be good to eat?" Astrid asked Megan doubtfully, "it looks dying already, so even if the apples looks fresh they are probably full of whatever is destroying it all." She did help shake the tree nevertheless, though it was limited what the old lady could do of shaking, so she would try get her cane around one of the lower branches and pull a bit in it.

As Astrid and Megan shook the tree a few apples began to fall. Most of them were bad however their efforts were not entirely in vein as a single good apple landed in the water. After bobbing up and down for a few minutes it suddenly disappeared beneath the waves. They could not see what had grabbed the apple but at least something got a good treat for their efforts. As the tree stopped shaking there was a loud cry coming from the nearby falls, it did not sound good either and given the condition of the water one had to assume the worst was about to go down. As all the other tasks in the area were finished it was up to Megan and Astrid to decide if they wanted to investigate. If they were not quick in making a decision they may be too late to help whatever had made such a horrible cry but for all they knew it could be a trap as someone could have seen them near the chemical plant earlier and might just be trying to punish them for putting their noses where they did not belong. A stray apple fell into the falls, in the final battle Leftovers will be active. Would you like to procede to the battle or end your quest here?

The two woman shook the tree as much as their combined strength could. When it seemed as though the good apples were not going to budge one did and the ladies ceased their shaking. Unfortunately the apple fell into the water and Megan dove to grab it but she was not able to grab the bobbing apple before it disappeared in the water. Megan stood up and looked dissapointed. "You don't suppose there is another good apple on that tree, do you?" she asked Astrid.
At that moment a cry was produced from within the forest "Come on! Let's go!" she said hoping that whatever cried out was okay.

Astrid made another disgusted as the sound of the bad apples that hit the ground, it was sickening and the smell that came from them wasn't good either. She did hear the one that fell in the water but didn't thought umuch of it, as she assumed it was as bad as all the others. "NO!" Astrid gasped shocked as it looked like Megan was about to jump into the river. She leaned towards the tree with one hand on her chest. "Please do not do that again," she pleaded before looking a bit annoyed. "I do not know, but why is it so important? It is just an apple tree and it is surely just as sick as this one," Astrid would ask Megan though it was mostly because she had been scared the young woman would have poisoned herself by getting in contact with the water. If Megan answered it would be limited what Astrid would hear as the cry was made and the old woman's attention was drawn to that. "What was that?" She would ask no-one in particular. To her it had sounded like a cry of help, but she wasn't sure since it had some so unexpected and she was a bit unsure if her hearing was starting to be affected by her age as well. She did her best to strain her hearing and try hear if there were more of them. Megan was quicker to react and immediately suggested they should go check it out. Astrid sighed as Megan hurried ahead and she herself did her best to keep up, she did get a lot of exercise today. She did agree they should find whoever had cried out, it may be someone who needed their help. "Come Cyan, I know you can keep up with me," Astrid called to the mudkip who was quick to catch up with her, to not be left behind. He had been obidient and stayed put when Astrid had ordered him to, though the smell had been so bad that he had no interest getting too close to the water. Astrid's reactions had convinced him it was bad stuff, so most of his curiousity for the strange water was gone. He followed the woman quietly, her mood and the stinky forest made him less cheerful than usual. He didn't think much of what may be ahead, he was still young and he trusted the old woman an the other pokemon to protect him and take care of the danger. Encounter! The cry would lead the two woman down the path to Blue Moon falls, a sight often where Cherrygrove's rarest of residents liked to hang out. The clean waters of the falls made it an easy place to take a rest and as Megan and Astrid made their way through the area, soft footfalls against the grass, young Wooper were popping their heads out of bushes, some quaking with fear in indication that something in their usual paradise was terribly wrong, and a lot of their eyes were pleading as the women passed.
There was a noise of defeat as the women hit the clearing and a Quagsire thundered to the ground just at their feet. Its face was dipped a strange purple color as it stood on its feet once again, in clear distress though it refused to give up the fight. Beyond it skirting the waters edge were two quite mean looking Grimer, a Pokemon that should have easily been taken down by a ground type like Quagsire.
But as it struggled to form an attack, it broke off midway with a heavy shudder as it fell to the floor once again. The smell of a thick poison wafted through the air as the two Grimer seeped sludge into the once beautiful water with wicked expressions. Quagsire looked back at the two women, clearly pleading for assistance with its eyes. Someone had to help, would these two?--- MADE BY ★MEULK

Megan felt bad that she kept racing ahead of Astrid, as she had scooped up her Budew. It seemed as though the path that they were no on lead them towards the Blue Moon Falls. Here Megan knew that she would see pokemon she had not seen yet keeping to the paths and streets of the cities. As the womens footfalls fell on the ground disturbing the pokemon around her some were making their faces know, mostly Woopers, but something was wrong. They did not seem like the same free wild pokemon, but of those living in fear and that had Megan worried about what was up ahead.
When the two women broke into a clearing Megan had to pull her light scarf over her nose to help with the stench. She watched as a Quagsire struggled to battle a couple of Grimers. Megan wasn't going to hesitate and she sat Budew on the ground "You ready for your first battle with me?" Her Budew gave a hesitent nod before swelling up its courage and took its place in front of the Grimers. "Alright, Budew let's start off with a Growth!" Megan clenched her fists worried for the fact that she left her other Pokemon at the Pokecenter and how this first Battle with Budew was going to go.
She knew that Astrid would join if she thought it right but all Megan wanted to do was even the playing grounds.

Had Astrid been aware that Megan felt bad for running ahead, she would have urged her to continue and not wait. She would catch up eventually and if something really was in a dire need of help, it was better that someone could get their fast and disrupt it until Astrid could arrive, rather than wait and it being too late. Beside, Megan wasn't exactly a child so Astrid trusted her to be able to take care of herself.
Astrid looked with worry at all the woopers who popped out to look at them, but seemed really frightened. Something was really wrong here, though the smell and the toxic water had proved that long time ago already. The old woman wasn't sure but it looked to her like the pokemon were looking pleadingly at her, though that may just be her imagination. Perhaps they were afraid some something interely different and they were just wishing she wouldn't do them any harm. She would know when she arrived and from the sounds of it, she needed to hurry.
It was a gasping Astrid who arrived at the scene where Megan had already put her pokemon down and ready to face off the intruders. Astrid looked disgusted at the poison types, why were they attacking and poluting this peaceful area? What was going on? She guessed they may have been attracted to the area when the factory started to let out the sludge into the river, though she couldn't be sure of that of course, and then began to try make the area their own. They needed to be stopped anyway.
"Cyan," Astrid said as cheerfully she could while doing her best to surpres her gagging, which made it sound quite funny and Cyan looked curious at her. He still wasn't really nervous, albeit a bit unsure of this foul smelling area and the scared wild pokemon, but he wasn't alone and that meant everything was alright. "I need you to help the grass pokemon against the two in the water, can you do that?" Astrid asked and Cyan looked a bit reluctantly at the two grimers. "You are not alone, and I think they are too busy looking at the sick one, to notice you," Astrid said and Cyan looked a lot more calm about the idea so Astrid quickly continued, "we really need to help it, that poor thing is feeling really bad. Start out with a Mud-Slap, that should make it harder for them to see too." "Mud-mudkip!" Cyan answered happily and ran to Budew to help out. He dug a bit in the ground to have some mud to throw at the closest Grimer.
Astrid joined Megan, still having a bit trouble breathing mostly due to the horrible smell, but also a bit from not being used to get this much exercise. "So what do we do?" Astrid asked the younger woman, she surely had some good tactics up in her sleeve! "Perhaps this is where the candy the guide gave us will come in handy. Do you know what it does? And I assume we need some kind of tactic, I unfortunately haven't brought any other than Cyan today," Astrid said between coughs and waited worriedly on Megan's answer.

The gentle giant moaned as it stumbled in the murky water. Soon it wasn't even trying to stand and fight on its own, a pang of relief showing on its face before the poison began to really set in. Quagsire floated on its back and held something bright red tightly in its flippers, securing the object on its chest as it lay there in wait for its saviors. The pain was starting to get worse, seemingly to do so as time went on. Bits of slime and mud started pelting the stationary water pokémon at this point. A lot fell short and splashed around, spreading out the poison in the pond even more as it gushed down from upstream where the chemical plant stood. Budew watched this, fueling her determination to lend a hand against the devious sludge pokémon. She waddled to the edge of the water and buckled down. All her energy focused inward, taking all her stored sunlight and bulking up her own attack. Cyan tottered forward to stand by his new ally. He scooped up some of the soft earth by the waterside, took aim, and sent the grimer a little taste of their own medicine. The mud splooshed into the watered down from of the poison pokémon, its purpley body jiggling wildly at the impact. A cry of surprise rang out and it momentarily shifted its focus to the intruders. Though, all it did was grumble its name in defiance and pick up the glob of muck the entire body of liquid was now made of and threw it at Quagsire to show how useless their efforts would be. As the wet slap smacked against the large blue pokémon Grimer cackled maniacally; and another mud-slap hit the Quagsire. It seemed the two weren't very affected by the added mud to their grime fest. The battle was off in a flurry of mud being thrown around from both sides, literally. The mud and grime made for a horrible mess and Megan hoped that when this was all done and over that it could be easily cleaned up but she couldn't see how that was going to be possible. Astrid had been able to convince Cyan to help out in all of the crazyness. His attack seemed to be effective against the slime monsters in the water.
Astrid stood next to Megan and asked what to do. Megan sighed, "I just jumped in. The poor Quagsire." She looked at the two trainers pokemon and at the Grimers. It was going to be a huge win when they did. Astrid mentioned the Rage Bar "I don't know what it does, it has to say on the package somewhere though, right? Let me look at it.",Megan studied the packaging and found some writing "Here here here! It restores 20 HP of a Pokemon!" Think we can use it on the Quagsire? I have Potions in my bag for our Pokemon." She said and nodding along with Astrid "Unfortunately I only brought Budew as well. It seems we are both on a one Pokemon team here."
While the battle was to progress Megan spoke to her grass pokemon "Budew, use Absorb!"

Astrid smiled grimly as she listened to Megan's answer, they clearly wasn't well prepared for this, but there were no time to run back and get more help. The quacksire needed help now and they needed to do whatever they could to stop the grimers from attacking. "Of course you did, it does not look good," Astrid said quietly as she looked around to try see if she could find any reason for why the grimers were so aggressive. "It is good we have it for an emergency, should it get any worse with the quacksire. I hope we can get close enough," Astrid said and paused thoughtful for a moment. "I am sure I still have some pecha berries with me, they could come in hand as well, and I assume that if we can come close enough with that one," Astrid pointed at the rage candy bar, "we can help it with our potions as well," she continued with a confident she didn't feel. She feared they couldn't get close enough to the quacksire to help it, not even with the rage candy bar.
"I do not think we need to worry for our own pokemon, for some reason the grimers has their attention locked on the quacksire," Astrid said thouhgtfully, "I just cannot see why. Why are they hating it so much? What have happened?" She asked no-one in particular as she didn't expect anyone who could answer, knowing it. "I think we just need to focus on knocking out the grimers as fast as possible, at least there are only two of them," Astrid said to Megan and looked at her. "I am sure we will do fine, we are two and we are determined to help out," Astrid said confidently, the last they needed was to be uncertain and wavering in their efforts. They needed to be determined since that could turn around the battle.
Astrid was quiet for yet another moment as she looked closer at the grimers. "It does not look like the mud hindered it at all, does it?" Astrid asked Megan and would nod grimly if confirmed. "We will try to wash it away instead," Astrid said harshly.
"Cyan! You are doing great! Keep up the good work," Astrid began to encourage her easily scared mudkip, who didn't look like he had many frights at the moment, but he straightened by her words nonetheless. "We need to give the grimers a bath, Give them a good shower!" Astrid called out Cyan, who took a deep breath and shot a watergun at the closest grimer.
