ZZ Staff Applications
ZZ is always looking for help on the moderation front as it is a very broad set of things that need doing all around the forum. Such as: - Acting as a Game Corner Dealer
- Spawning or Hatching eggs
- Updating character parties & inventories
- Helping upkeep & update guides and older activities
- Creating custom sprites for new promos & missing promo evolutions
- Coming up with new quest & event ideas, and helping complete existing plans
- Running events
- Finishing write ups/ideas for unfinished areas (Blackthorn, Mt. Silver, Kanto region, etc)
- Integrating the latest generation of pokémon
- ... and much more!
About Being a ModeratorIt is not expected for anyone to remain staff forever, so you may step down at any time and remain a Mod License holder (provided you made it passed Trainee status). While modding threads isn't a mod's only duty, it is a significant and very important task that keeps ZZ flowing. If modding threads isn't really your thing but you feel you could really help out with other aspects such as helping run events, contribute thoughts and ideas for new quests, or even have some artist/designer in you to make custom sprites, those are all highly valuable for the staff team! If you just want to mod the Game Corner, we have sign ups for that too. If you join the staff team it is expected you are active in some aspect of site upkeep, whether that be modding a thread, actively contributing to staff discussions, or reliably running monthly events, etc. *For those with moderating experience, and not yet holding a license, take a look at our Moderator License thread.
ZZ Apprenticeship Program
Interested in becoming a moderator but feel overwhelmed by all our rules and systems? We'll train you! You need only to fill out the application below and after a quick suitability assessment you could be a Trainee. We just ask that you've been active on ZZ for roughly the last two weeks before applying. It is recommended that you have some basic understanding of our Battle & EXP System, as well as know how Pokémon Encounters are generated before signing up. If you are unsure, feel free to ask questions or hone your skills in the (optional) Practice thread. As a Trainee you will be required to complete 5 modules. 1-3 must be completed in order. You will have a thread in the Staff Board to track your progress towards these milestones, and we will provide heaps of feedback and advice along the way.
- Mod 10 threads in New Bark and/or Cherrygrove
- one must be a Pokémon encounter - one must involve a Pokémon/inventory update - one must involve a damage calculation
- Mod 5 threads in Violet and/or Azalea
- one must be a Pokémon encounter - one must involve a damage calculation
-
- Mod 3 threads in Goldenrod or beyond
- one must involve an experience calculation - one must involve a happiness calculation
- Also Mod 3 Quest or IPF/TR mission threads
- one should be an IPF or Rocket mission if possible/active
- Mod 5 Game Corner threads
- one must be a Hi-Lo - one must be a Roulette *This one can be completed anytime
The modules can be done at your own pace, however, we recommend trying to complete it within ~2 months as a Moderator's job can be quite demanding. If 4 months pass your progress will go under review. On top of being able to Claim Mod Points for your mod posts, you will also receive 1RT for each module you complete!
So what are you waiting for? Fill out your application now!

- Why do you want to be a Moderator at ZapdosZulu? I love helping people and other sites when I can and help keep sites going and i think this could help my roleplaying abilities a bit.
- Are you an active member of this site and do you have some understanding of the rules and procedures of the site to be able to moderate threads? I know how things work round about wiht the modding but i am happy to refresh myself a bit and learn somethings that could make me better.
- Have you had any past experience as a staff member on another roleplaying site or have you taken up a role of responsibility in the past? I have been staff for other pokemon sites and at the moment I am a Game Corner Dealer.
- Do you have any additional skills that could be useful in developing the site? I don't know if anyone could call them skills but i always try and listern to both sides of a story before deciding what to do. I also tend to try and blend multiple people's ideas together to try and make everyone happy.

- Why do you want to be a Moderator at ZapdosZulu?
I've been itching to jump in and mod a battle. But sadly it's a itch I cannot scratch at present day. I also love to help and talk to people. Being I have a disability stopping me from working I'm here a lot GMT time.
- Are you an active member of this site and do you have some understanding of the rules and procedures of the site to be able to moderate threads?
Yes! I've only been here a few weeks almost a month. But I've been here everyday learning and role playing!
- Have you had any past experience as a staff member on another roleplaying site or have you taken up a role of responsibility in the past?
Yes. I was an admin for two warrior cats sites and wolf role play site. The wolf one last over three years. Been a moderator on a few other sites too!
- Do you have any additional skills that could be useful in developing the site?
I know very basic coding. I also love to come up with idea or improve on others! Also I'm a great tester for new things as I have a way of finding out bugs, and holes in things.

After much careful thought and having discussed the idea, what the heck. I feel I can do the job, so I might as well post, right? Please try to endure the couple of indications of a sense of humour in here; I can't write deadpan for too long, it's not me. - Why do you want to be a Moderator at ZapdosZulu? Pfft, how much time have you got? OK. Firstly, I thoroughly enjoy providing updates for another person's RP adventure. Creatively writing up a reply, even if I don't have much freedom with what I can do, is always fun. It helps me grow as a writer to come up with new scenarios. In fact, being able to write more RP posts in general is alluring to me. The fact that it's helping the other person out, giving them something to do, is a massive bonus too. Secondly, I like to help out around places that I am enjoying being a part of, and I already feel like one of the crew here to be frank. It's awesome, so why wouldn't I want to help? And lastly, if I am bored and get a few threads modded... it'll be more likely that another mod'll do my own threads! :P
- Are you an active member of this site and do you have some understanding of the rules and procedures of the site to be able to moderate threads? Pretty active thus far, yes (just ask Lama), and I can't foresee my activity dropping considerably over the coming months. Even when the new academic year starts, I should be able to get on here daily to poke around, modding often enough. As for the rules and procedures, I have read literally everything that resembles a "rules" post at least once, and I absorb information easily so I have all the basics down. Frankly, it's not hard when everything's laid out so conveniently. Random.org is ready to go, too.
- Have you had any past experience as a staff member on another roleplaying site or have you taken up a role of responsibility in the past? I've been a moderator on a few forums and chat-sites in the past, including modding a few RP forums. Reached admin on a couple of sites ages ago, but that was when I was like 16. Since then, never really had the muse and opportunity for adminship come together. Few other leadership things on my CV, but I am assuming you're limiting this to online activities.
- Do you have any additional skills that could be useful in developing the site? I have some basic coding knowledge. As alluded to before, I am a quick learner so I can easily pick up more coding skills if you need another helping hand in that department. I'm a mathematician by trade, so logic (and hence coding) is my thing. As for other things... again, define "skills" and "development". I'm good at following orders to the letter, so if something is asked of me you can expect me to do it. I also tend to offer a unique point of view, which could be helpful when discussing potential new ideas for the RP. Frankly, it's mainly the first three sentences that matter, but I wanted to make this stand out a bit.

- Why do you want to be a Moderator at ZapdosZulu? Having spent a number of years on the site and matured a great deal during that time I've grown more and more appreciation for the effort that the staff members have put into both making ZapdosZulu as successful as it is and continues to be! I love helping on the recruiting scene on the site and would like to expand that to being able to help other members on a greater level by moderating threads, updating inventories and helping manage the game corner threads.
- Are you an active member of this site and do you have some understanding of the rules and procedures of the site to be able to moderate threads? Having learnt how to manage my time alot better I've been able to return to the site and confidently feel that my activity will continue to stay constant. I understand the rules and procedures of the site, however if granted the opportunity to trial as a staff member I do admit I would have to refresh on the specifics in regards to moderating!
- Have you had any past experience as a staff member on another roleplaying site or have you taken up a role of responsibility in the past? Once previously on here a number of years ago when I was just starting out. Also on a number of alternative pokemon roleplay sites (those sites are now currently closed/dead), however it has been quite a period of time since I have been a member of staff on any roleplaying sites!
- Do you have any additional skills that could be useful in developing the site? Some basic graphics such as those on display in my own trainer shop are the extent to which my spriting skills extend. Alternatively, I feel that I would be able to successfully contribute on potential ideas in regards to Quests and other matters behind the scenes.

After much deliberation, thought, and talks with others I have decided to put in an application: - Why do you want to be a Moderator at ZapdosZulu?
I have been a moderator in the past, and let me start off saying that because of that fact I do not expect any other treatment than any other member applying. Alright. With that cleared out of the way, I want to be a moderator because ZapdosZulu is my escape from what is going on with school or anything else. I love everyone here and I find creating a story with another player soothing. Helping them on their journey, creating battle sequences for them and helping develop their plots is a joy to help with!
- Are you an active member of this site and do you have some understanding of the rules and procedures of the site to be able to moderate threads?
Yes, the past three month I came back to the forum and found myself falling back in love with the community and reengaging in the world of Pokemon. I try to log in every day even if I am busy and it's just to drop by the chat box and talk with everyone! I plan on staying active, I love Pokemon but I think what happened was I had burnt myself out and I ended up taking a step back for my schooling. I have read the rules boards over many times making sure I understand the rules, and I am able to help new members out with learning them.
- Have you had any past experience as a staff member on another roleplaying site or have you taken up a role of responsibility in the past?
I currently am helping out revamping a Post-Harry Potter forum but with my other staff members there is not much in the terms that I have to do that would get in my way of being able to staff here. I have been an active member and moderator on several different types and environments of forums in the past in high school, none of which are around much anymore, and have multiple types of experiences with moderating and helping with forum ideas, creating and implementing them. I am easy to work with and love hearing ideas and collaborating with others to create an idea or to make an idea better.
- Do you have any additional skills that could be useful in developing the site?
Like many others I am familiar with code, I attempt to be artsy but it has been a while since I have used that creative bone in my body, it may just be time to start again. I am also very familiar with what it takes to make, admin or staff a forum. I am always a plethera of new ideas especially with how lively our forum is becoming again and listening to other players interests and with all the new pokemon announcements!

Congratulations Megan, we're promoting you back up to Moderator. We're all happy you know the ropes and as you've done this before, we don't expect you to have to go through the modular activities. Although should you want to hit all the criteria again, you're more than welcome to as you didn't get to the first time around.

- Why do you want to be a Moderator at ZapdosZulu?
I have extra time, (except for this week) I think the forum is pretty fun, and could use more people to cut thread wait in half. I do realize I am rather new to be asking but I wanted to atleast try.
- Are you an active member of this site and do you have some understanding of the rules and procedures of the site to be able to moderate threads?
I try to be as active as I can, I should be sceen on mostly between between 10am - 12pm EST. I have a good understanding of the rules, though I may re read them at times due to getting confused between different forums rules. I have a general understanding of the procedures for different types of threads, but I do not know exacts, like the groups of rarity the Pokemon are in, so on. I could definitely learn though, and would be more than willing to give it a shot.
- Have you had any past experience as a staff member on another roleplaying site or have you taken up a role of responsibility in the past?
I have, one warrior cat site, it lasted a few months before going down hill though. Though I have played moderating roles on minecraft servers, an admin on one, and have baby sat multiple times. But sadly not I have not been a staff member on another forum.
- Do you have any additional skills that could be useful in developing the site?
I can draw, Photoshop, animate, so on. If you need something done with any of these things I could probably do it. Though I would probably still do it without being a mod. But it's worth mentioning

- Why do you want to be a Moderator at ZapdosZulu?
I primarily want to practice my modding abilities. I play a lot of D&D and eventually want to GM a game, I'm just not sure I'm there yet in terms of controlling a whole game. I feel like this would be a good chance to learn how to manage adventures on a smaller scale. Also, I would like to just in general help out. The more mods there are to help out, the faster everyone's adventures will move along and encourage people to be more active.
- Are you an active member of this site and do you have some understanding of the rules and procedures of the site to be able to moderate threads?
I have been active (almost daily check-ins) since completing my character profile. Before, I only dropped off due to finals and then the post-finals hibernation. But other than that, I have a pretty lazy schedule for the summer and my semester this fall will give me plenty of chances to stay active. As for the rules, I've given them a good run down, and I'm a quick learner and usually always double-check myself so I should be fine in that regard.
- Have you had any past experience as a staff member on another roleplaying site or have you taken up a role of responsibility in the past?
I've never been a moderator on a roleplaying forum, but I have been a mod on various game sites and also pitched in on development ideas.
- Do you have any additional skills that could be useful in developing the site?
I can code on a basic level, and use Photoshop on a somewhat-professional level. I also like to think I'm good at game design, so I could probably help come up with ideas, or at least be someone helpful to bounce ideas off of. As I mentioned before, I'm a fast learner so I could probably figure out most anything I'm needed to do.

- Why do you want to be a Moderator at ZapdosZulu?
My biggest motive for being a moderator is merely because I really like the board. It's such a nice board, and I'd love to help push things along if I could. I also have a tremendous amount of free time I'd much prefer to be using on something productive - like helping out around here.
- Are you an active member of this site and do you have some understanding of the rules and procedures of the site to be able to moderate threads?
Even if I'm not active in the cbox, nine times out of ten, I'm here. I have a very distinct lack of a life, actually. In any case, I believe I have a pretty firm grasp of the rules, and even if there a few missing odds and ends in my information, I can probably find my answers before they become an issue.
- Have you had any past experience as a staff member on another roleplaying site or have you taken up a role of responsibility in the past?
Many. I'm actively a moderator on two other boards and used to be an administrator for two boards that ended up meeting an untimely demise, and I reviewed applications on another before it died. I've been a moderator on one board for about two years, and the other for about a year.
- Do you have any additional skills that could be useful in developing the site?
I'm adequate at CSS, so I could help with any appearance or coding-related issues. Also, if you count having way too much free time as a skill, I can't be surpassed.

Applications for the Apprenticeship Program are now closed. Thanks to all that have applied. Bear with us as we discuss the final few applications. There will likely be more accepted into the program as a result so stay tuned. EDIT: Okay, we've reached a final verdict. We are pleased to announce that we are admitting Trick and Salem into the program. Glimmericious, unfortunately, in this instance we decided that you are not quite ready for a program like this. We'd hate to leave you as the only one out but we've received strong interest and the number of placements was already oversubscribed. In addition, we felt that comparatively you are still quite new and would like to see a few more posts and involvement in the community. However, we have noticed that you are willing to discuss new ideas to improve the site as shown by your EV training suggestion. We've had some staff discussion around your idea so I will provide some feedback soon. But overall, don't be discouraged as we see potential and you are very welcome to apply for future recruitment rounds!

We are taking new applications for the trainee program. If you were a former staff member you can reapply on this thread as well. The staff will go over all the applications and we will notify those who are selected. If you have any questions involving the trainee program or about joining the staff please send a pm to a staff member and we will gladly answer them but otherwise good luck to everyone.

- Why do you want to be a Moderator at ZapdosZulu? Because I know how to do it and have done it for years, plus you guys could use the help for a bit.
- Are you an active member of this site and do you have some understanding of the rules and procedures of the site to be able to moderate threads? I've got a firm hold. ;) I'm active for bursts. I get burnt out, but i'm not burnt out right now. I can help out til things get a bit more stable staff wise. To be fair, we're all kinda come and go.
- Have you had any past experience as a staff member on another roleplaying site or have you taken up a role of responsibility in the past? Yup. Lots of experience here.
- Do you have any additional skills that could be useful in developing the site? Plenty.
