"Oh we'll have fun alright," the rambunctious youngster responded with little though, fists curled in front of him. He was so focused on the battle he didn't even give Amaryllis a glance. His rattata seemed really into it, something he didn't always see but glossed over with rose-color. He think he knew what it was. "I'm going to count that switch out as a win for Rattata. Would've been so easy anyway no point in dragging that out. So this is round 2!" Joey carried on, a smile growing wider on his face as he finally looked to the opposing trainer. "And we'll beat your bulbasaur just as easily, right Rattata? Cause you are top percentage!" The boy put his hands on his hips as if striking a pose of victory. "Now go ahead and show this girl what a real tackle looks like."Weary in more ways than one, the purple rodent's will remained strong. He let the boisterous claims of his trainer brush by as he stiffened to eye the stout sprout. Freyja pawed the ground. The two started off at the same time, charging ahead in a game of torchicken. Each made use of the slippery patches in their own way, but Rattata made the superior maneuvers. He broke from the straight-away with a quick hop to the side, used a tuft of old grass to keep from sliding off track and instead lunge at Freyja's side. The bulbasaur was no slouch though. By some stroke of luck she was on a rather rugged section of ice and made use of that to throw the rodent's aim off just enough to reduce what could have been a game changing blow. The rat struck across her bulb and landed a bit off balance. She took advantage of that opportunity to retaliate with a butting of heads. Rattata was pushed back but still plenty mobile. "Hah! Weren't expecting that little move were yah?" Joey rubbed a finger under his nose with pride. Paying no heed to the bubble of snot from the cold making his nose run a tiny bit. "Now you'll see why there's no doubting Rattata's amazing-ness!" If anything could be said of Joey it was he had unshakable faith in the greatness of his pokémon. I WANNA BE THE VERY BEST LIKE NO ONE EVER WAS The Youngster was just so focused on the battle that he didn't look at her for one bit. Her Bulbasaur was getting real hurt by the purple rat's Tackle, but the opponent was also at the point of exhaustion from being hurt so much. This was a battle after all, no matter how much a Pokemon had gotten hurt, it was only crucial to see it through to the end. Freyja and Rattata's battle was reaching its conclusion, and the final round was just starting. She took out a Potion from her bag and sprayed it on Freyja, it revitalized her thankfully. When Amaryllis finished taking care of her Bulbasaur, Freyja was able to stand on her own two feet. A bright fire had lit up in her eyes as she awaited the very definite and final order. "Let's finish this battle with a Tackle attack!" Freyja nodded as she ran forward with the slippery ground being a focal point to increasing her speed. At this point, it was safe to say that Joey's 'top percentage' Rattata was on another round of losses if the last attempt connected. She wasn't going to be a bad sport about it even if it was just a lighthearted battle between two aspiring trainers. Her Pidgey probably needed to find weaker Pokemon to pick off and train with, seeing that he might need a lesson in battling still. The road to Cherrygrove would have much stronger Pokemon that even a little bird like a Pidgey couldn't battle against. Still, the next city would have more interesting Pokemon to catch, not to mention that there was likely more trainers up ahead too. [ OOC ] @staff || 277 words for egg MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS

Victory seemed so palpable to Joey now he could almost taste it. Licking his lips gleefully, he imagined thrusting his Rattata in Amaryllis' face and forcing her hand over her money. The Youngster could sense that the Bulbasaur was tiring, only one more attack would do it and with Rattata's top percentage speed, he'd tear through the girl's remaining team in short order. "Let's finish this with Quick Attack!"But the Youngster had sorely miscalculated. While his Rattata was fast, Amaryllis' quick hands were faster. By the time Rattata had gotten within striking range, Freyja was already at full health. "What! A POTION?! Hey no fair!" the boy cried foul and threw his arms into the air in disbelief. "I demand an intervention from the Pokemon League. Pretty sure that was against the rules!"While his trainer was a bumbling buffoon, the Rattata was not. It actually had a high IQ for a rodent. He knew that he still had a speed advantage compared to his opponent and despite being restored to full health, all it would take was a critical hit and he would come out on top. However, it did not pan out that way and Freyja managed to absorb the second attack from Joey's Rattata. Relieved, Freyja rushed forward one last time and headbutted the whiskered opponent into the turf. The purple rat lay on the ground unable to get up despite Joey's protestations. "Rattata quit playing around!" Joey shook his Pokemon violently. "Look what you did to him!" Joey glared at Amaryllis accusingly. "Fine, I guess you win! Don't rub it in... take my money... you look you need it anyway." The Youngster threw a fistful of bills onto the ground and ran away fighting back tears carrying his fainted Rattata slumped over his shoulder. I WANNA BE THE VERY BEST LIKE NO ONE EVER WAS As the final round continued, it was obvious that his Rattata was smarter than his own trainer, using his own speed to simultaneously pull off two Quivk Attacks before fainting finally to Freyja's Tackle. Joey had also commented on using Potions during a battle as an illegal move unauthorized by the Pokemon League, but everyone knew that using items was a smart way to train a Pokemon, and prevent fainting. With the battle over, Freyja was the victor, and Amaryllis couldn't be more proud of her starter Pokemon for winning the match. She couldn't believe it, but she had won her very first Pokemon battle. As the Youngster ran away crying with his fainted Rattata, she gave Freyja a pat on the head. "Good job, Freyja! You can rest easy now." She returned Freyja back inside her Pokeball as the path to Cherrygrove was near. However, she shouldn't stop the adventure now that she could opt to train her Pidgey instead. Pressing the button on Sigurd's Pokeball, the tiny bird Pokemon was back in good shape and perched on her shoulder again. Sigurd began stretching his own wings as he looked forward to testing his own mettle against other wild Pokemon. Perhaps the world of Pokemon training was a tough road to consider, but she knew that there were potential Pokemon to consider training. "Pidgey..." He began to yawn, and look around the wilderness in which he had left behind earlier. She noticed the Pidgey looking around in a very bored fashion. "Are you alright, Sigurd? I imagine you must be dreadfully bored, but we'll find you someone to play with." She smiled at the bird, and gave him pets. The Johto region so far was a rather different world than Hoenn. At the very least, she was getting used to exploring this route, and forging a bond with her Pokémon. Still, she could not help, but miss the home region she was born in. Not to mention that she had heard about sightings of Pokémon from Hoenn making their home in some parts of this region. Perhaps travelling here wasn't too bad, it was a good idea to start brand new goals while she was at it. She realized that time had passed while she had finished battling Joey, the sun had already set and by now, it was nighttime where the moon shome brightest. As the sun delve beneath the horizon and left the trees casting long shadows along the route activity seemed to die down a bit. A chill came with it, but further into route 29 proved to be less littered with ice and remnants of the winter months. There were even a few buds forming in some of the new growth popping up from the underbrush. Sigurd kept an eye on things, cozy on his perch, but other than some occasional distant rustling of leaves or snap of twig there didn't seem to be anything coming by Amaryllis' path. That was until a loud SNAP! sounded right above her. A thin branch toppled to the ground along with something else a bit more colorful. There at her feet was a plump bug, dazed by the fall it laid there groaning for a moment. Eventually it gathered its wits enough to realize where it was. With a high pitched meep the worm pokémon rolled over to its feet and stared wide eyed up at the pidgey. By evidence of the branch it seemed this wurmple had been out late chomping down on food. I WANNA BE THE VERY BEST LIKE NO ONE EVER WAS A loud noise turned her attention to something small in which Sigurd himself leaned forward to the source of their unexpected guest. The source happened to be an innocent Wurmple who was just passing by, and it had gotten chubby from all the food it ate. To the eyes of humans, it was nothing more than a tiny little bug that didn't garner much attention to all trainers. However, Wurmple was of course, natural prey to bird Pokemon, and that was exactly what was going on inside the tiny bird Pokemon's head. Simply put, the Pidgey thought this little Wurmple was food to him like his evolved form's diet of Caterpie and Magikarp. He spread his wings as he flew down to the ground, and landed with ease while looking intently at the worm before him. "This is perfect. Sigurd, let's start this off with Tackle!" The brown and cream-colored bird Pokemon flew into the air before dive-bombing with grace onto the plump Wurmple with his body. With his graceful movements in the air, it was enough to bring the Gym Leader of Fortree City to tears or so she thought. The next city after Cherrygrove had a Flying type gym there, but it seemed to be a long way before she could tackle that. Plus, she had to train her other Pokemon first. Still, perhaps the movements that her Pokemon showed would've been good for contests back at her home, alas...Johto didn't seem to have Pokemon Contests here. With each new addition to her team, they had a lot of room to grow before they can become full fledged members of her party. [ OOC ] @staff | 275 words for egg MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS

The Wurmple squealed helplessly as it saw its natural predator fly elegantly into the air. From below, it could only hear the fluttering of feathers as Sigurd prepared to strike under the cover of darkness. The bug Pokemon's heart pounded and it tried desperately to crawl away but it was too bloated to get very far before Sigurd dived down, tucking his wings and plunging his three-pronged talons into the squishy body of the caterpillar. The only means of defense the Wurmple could muster right now was to regurgitate silky white threads which adhered to Sigurd's feathers hampering his aerial abilities. Perhaps this would be enough of a distraction for the caterpillar Pokemon to find a means of escape from the terrifying bird! I WANNA BE THE VERY BEST LIKE NO ONE EVER WAS Sigurd's eyes widened as the sticky and gooey string draped over him, courtesy of the wild Wurmple. "Pidgey..." He voiced his disgust at having his feathers ruined by the prey he was after. The avian Pokemon tried to flap its wings to take to the air, but the sticky substance slowed it down. All Sigurd could do was leave the icky string all over him as he waited for his trainer to take the next step. "Good job, Sigurd. Let's try using Tackle again!" The feathery, small Pidgey lifted himself up in the air and charged straight towards the plump Wurmple again. The sound of flapping wings was enough for a fair warning towards the scared Bug-type Pokémon. It was quite obvious that the worm Pokemon was scared of the natural predator, but it tried its best to avoid being eaten for dinner, to no avail. Once the Pidgey had set his eyes on something, there was nothing to get in his way. Except that this battle between Sigurd and a wild Wurmple boiled down to a battle of nature's own way of survival. It was evident that the natural instinct for survival in the wilderness had kicked in for the tiny bird Pokemon, even as he was caught in a spherical capsule meant to tame wild Pokemon. From the day the Pidgey had first left its nest in the wilderness to the moment he had joined her side for a free bird seed buffet, Sigurd himself had shown a bit of promise. No human could know what was going on in a Pokemon's mind, but perhaps he had equated his own trainer as a warm and guiding mother bird who cared for the chicks not fully developed to venture outside of the nest. However, it would always take a little time to get used to a person he did not know aside from his parents up at the tree. As of now, she could see just how much confidence the tiny bird Pokemon had in its own abilities in a battle. The white pieces of string still held fast on the avian Pokemon, but he still carried himself in a poised stride. Perhaps he had catered to his trainer's own traits, being as elegant and graceful in flight as well as being precise and careful in his own attacks. Sigurd's own adrenaline rush would do the guiding for him. [ OOC ] @staff | 400 words for egg MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS

Once again, Sigurd rose into the air to ready its attack. However, while its previous flight had been elegant and precise, it was clear this time that the white string the wurmple shot at the pidgey was making flying much trickier. The sticky consistency of the string stuck the pidgey's feathers together and greatly slowed down its movement. Sigurd did his best to keep a majestic form despite this impediment but it was for naught for this time when the pidgey zoomed at the wurmple, the worm pokemon was ready for it. The second the pidgey was within its range, the wurmple flipped forward, smacking Sigurd in the face with its body. The smack veered Sigurd off-course, causing him to crash into a nearby bush. But the pidgey refused to be bested by what he considered dinner, after taking a brief moment to refocus himself, Sigurd launched out of the bush. He rammed into the wurmple talons first. The worm pokemon writhed in protest under Sigurd's claws before scrambling out of his grasp. It distanced itself from the pidgey as best it could and watched to see what the pidgey would be doing next. The wurmple would not be going down without a fight. I WANNA BE THE VERY BEST LIKE NO ONE EVER WAS The tiny bird Pokemon was met with the worm Pokemon's own Tackle as he landed ungracefully down onto the grassy ground inside the bush. He'd been too slow on the draw, and that made him want to improve himself a bit. Sigurd was feeling like he didn't do enough to make an impression for his own trainer, but as long as his trainer believed in him, it was all that mattered. As the battle began to unfold, it was clear that he would never want to be bested by his own meal. He was too proud for that, and needed to keep himself on his toes for future battles. Sigurd got up, and prepared himself to take off in the air. Amaryllis herself was concerned that he might be pushing himself too hard. She still had to give him the order despite having those thoughts of concern, so she gave out the command. "Sigurd, please believe in yourself! Let's go with Tackle!" This was enough to renew the resolve within this tiny-sized bird along with a burning resolve inside the plump, feathery body. "Pidgeeeey!" With a battle cry of his own, the aerial fighter soared into the sky, following a somersault into the starry heavens, and swooped down at the red, plunp insect with his talons ready to strike. The adrenaline rush was there, but it was even more fulfilling for the mercurial Pokemon himself. He was quite determined to show his pride as a Flying type Pokemon. That much was obvious when he felt like he did not feel like he was living up to the standards of his own father who cared for him at the nest he was born into. Thus, he strived to become the proud bird of prey that his natural instincts was telling him to. [ OOC ] @staff | 301 words for egg MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS

While Amaryllis and Sigurd shared a bonding moment, the pokemon feeling pride for impressing its trainer and the trainer feeling worry for her companion and imploring him to believe in himself, the clever wurmple got itself into a defensive position. The wurmple wiggled its way into a nearby patch of tall grass and waited once more for the pidgey's attack to commence. It watched as the bird pokemon soared into the air with a loud screech. The wurmple knew that the tall grass wasn't the perfect camouflage and that its bright red color would be a dead give away in the green blades but hiding in the grass was not the only idea the wurmple had. As Sigurd soared in the sky, looking down into the grass, its keen eyes searching for a flash of red in the field of green, the wurmple quickly made its way over to a patch of flowers which had just begun to bloom their vibrant red petals. The wurmple brushed against the stalks of the flowers causing them to wiggle and sway. Watching from up in the sky, a flash of red movement caught Sigurd's eye. The bird pokemon swooped dowm, talons ready to make contact. It was only once it was within closing distance that he realized that what he had been aiming for were merely flowers. For a moment the bird pokemon thought that perhaps it ought to slow itself mid air in order to redirect its trajectory, but it was at that moment that the wurmple leaped out of the flowers straight at Sigurd. Thinking now of the encouraging words he had just received from Amaryllis, Sigurd leaned all its strength into continuing its dive and the two pokemon simultaneously collided into each other midair in an epic impact. Both fell out of sight into the tall grass and for a moment there was silence... until a tiny little beaked face poked up out of the grass. I WANNA BE THE VERY BEST LIKE NO ONE EVER WAS The battle was drawing to a close as Sigurd and the wild Wurmple were duking it out near the grass as only one winner would come out on top. After a moment, the noise subsided, and not one peep could be heard. The rustling from the tall grass was heard as the beaked face of Sigurd himself signalled his victory over his opponent. "Nice job, Sigurd! You did great!" She praised her Pokemon's efforts as she approached the patch of tall grass where the wild Wurmple was unconscious on the ground. With a content chirp, the battered tiny bird Pokemon flew to his cozy perch on her shoulder while he looked over at his now defeated opponent. She would feel bad about leaving Wurmple to a bunch of other bird Pokemon that may wanted to have it as a snack, so catching it would be an option. Procuring an empty Pokeball from her bag, she threw it at the fainted wild Pokemon. When other trainers could've considered leaving a Pokemon like Wurmple to be a late night dinner to a Pidgey or Spearow, perhaps it wouldn't be a bad idea to train something like a Wurmple into a beautiful Beautifly. She could see how much appeal a Beautifly had in Pokemon Contests, so it was natural that people would look to more pretty Pokemon appearance-wise. It always looked like fun to be a Pokemon Coordinator back home when she would see many Coordinators of either gender come back from the building with a shiny new ribbon. There was always a problem that arose with either adhering to the traditional ways of the family, but she could opt to fix it in due time. With her mother at least being supportive of her new endeavor, it was refreshing to start over, and do what she wanted to do without some sort of suffocating father to tell her what she couldn't do. When a wurmple faints in the grass, hoothoot is around to hear it.
It was mere moments after Amaryllis's capture of the plump brave little wurmple that Sigurd almost had for a meal, that a nearby pokemon who had been vigilantly watching and waiting for an easy meal flew down from the treetops. It was a small hoothoot which landed gracefully on its one foot. Immediately, it began to peck around at the ground, searching for the wurmple it had seen faint. "HOO HOOT" the frustrated owl pokemon searched through the grass, too focused on its search to notice Amaryllis standing nearby. "HOOT HOOO!! HOOOO!" suddenly a second hoothoot arrived! This hoothoot was a little larger than the first and when it landed the small one seemed to hesitate, uncertain of whether to protest that this other competitor had arrived to search for the fallen wurmple as well. "HOOT HOOT HOOT!!!" much to the first hoothoot's dismay, a third hoothoot came to join the search party. The small hoothoot ruffled its feathers angrily. "HOO. HOO. HOO!" it exclaimed-- I was here first!! Furious that it was being interrupted, the small hoothoot began to peck and kick at the other two hoothoots, trying to shoo them away. The other hoothoots squawked and flapped their wings at the small hoothoot, they were both bigger and willing to use their size to intimidate the small one. But the little hoothoot was fearless and not easy to intimidate. "HOOOOOOOOT!" it cried out. It seemed that a major fight was about to break out between the three hoothoots when a loud call boomed from above them-- "NOCT HOOOO." Circling in flight high above in the dark night sky was a large noctowl. The large owl pokemon repeated its call "NOCT HOOOOOO" and the two larger hoothoots who had intruded in the first hoothoot's search perked up. When the noctowl repeated the call a third time, the two hoothoots lifted off, retreating from the fight they'd initiated, to join their mother who had found plenty of dinner for the three of them. The small hoothoot watched its competition leave and felt relieved that it could finally search for its meal in peace. The hoothoot turned to continue searching... only to finally realize that it had had an audience this whole time. The small hoothoot's eyes widened at the sight of Amaryllis and Sigurd perching on her shoulder. "HOOT HOOT!" it ruffled its feathers once more. WHERE'S MY DINNER? Hoothoot (lv6) is searching for its dinner!! Shiny Check: MKNNU7IG1-42 1-42

I WANNA BE THE VERY BEST LIKE NO ONE EVER WAS It was mere moments after the Wurmple was caught successfully that a loud squawking could be heard. A smaller Hoothoot had been watching the pair in a vigilant fashion. Followed by a second larger Hoothoot and another Hoothoot, the trio began fighting over who would get their prey first. This was nature at its finest, but the duo were completely ignored by the trio of little owl Pokemon until another loud sound drowned out the angry squawks. It was a booming call for the Hoothoots to gather with its cohort, a large Noctowl had been circling around the fighting Hoothoot. Eventually, the two of the avian Pokemon had hopped away, but only the smaller Hoothoot remained. While it had been focused on trying to find dinner, it finally set its sights on the pair, angrily squawking at them and probably demanding where was its dinner. Sigurd squawked back at the Hoothoot in a very aggravated fashion. "How should I know?! If you wish to fight me for another Wurmple then get ready!" In the ears of a human, it would sound like two birds being aggressive with one another or perhaps Sigurd was just annoyed with how the wild Hoothoot was demanding to know where its dinner went. Meanwhile, Amaryllis had other ideas as there was yet another member for the team. She gave the first order to the tiny bird Pokemon. "Sigurd, let's start this off with Sand-Attack!" As the avian Pokemon took to the sky, he flapped his wings to create a blinding sandstorm which was aimed towards the wild Pokemon. She wasn't quite knowledgable of what Hoothoot was capable of, but it was a precautionary measure in case it had moves that would be a detriment. As a beginner Pokemon trainer, it would do much to at least study up on what other Pokemon were capable of before coming up with a viable strategic option or two. Used Growl! MissedSigurd [Keen Eye]: Normal ... Used Sand Attack! Oh that sassy bird really got under Hoothoot's feathers! Figurative steam mushrooming from the hungry owl it stamped its feet in an alternating pattern to further express its frustrations with this day. Nothing was going right. Nothing at all. With a huff the wild bird locked eyes on its airborne opponent, one eye almost twitching as it began to muster up the most fearsome growl it had ever growled. But that, too, wouldn't go right for it for it had missed that Sigurd had picked up a clump of sand before taking off. Eyes wide open, Sigurd had a large target to deploy his underhanded tactic at the instruction of Amaryllis. Just a second before Hoothoot opened its mouth to caw an intimidating retort to the earlier comment the sand was deployed. It splashed all over the wild pokémon's face. Its planned growl was turned into sputtering cough. The bird needing to frantically broom its tongue and eyes with its wings afterward.
