Was he lost? Again?
NO!
(Yes?)
(...maybe...)
But the map in his hands surely didn't lead him astray? With a grumble and a groan, Adrian did his best to figure out where he was or at least, where he wasn't. There were a lot of trees. Hills. If he squinted he swore he saw signs of civilization in the distance. But of course, it was dark, so who knows. Maybe he would be camping tonight in the middle of the haunted woods because his nav gave him a shortcut and it was a LIE. Curse all GPS'. They kept leading him astray and these outdated maps didn't help matters. Just stay on the road, one could argue. Well, he did. Until the road disappeared, it got dark, and he thought he saw the windows of a building in the distance. So like a moth to a flame, he wandered in hopes of asking for directions and maybe, if he was lucky, a place to just crash for the night where it wouldn't rain. Because it sure looked like it would rain.
Stars don't let it rain.
Let him get somewhere dry and sheltered before the heavens opened up and punished him for his audacity for wandering around a little too close to sundown. Oh the avarice!
At least Buddy was in high spirits. She walked along cheerful as ever, brandishing a newly found stick and poking at at trees and bushes and dirt. Speaking of trees...was it getting really dense around here? Almost maze-like. Oh great. Now he was extra lost. Barry couldn't exactly see great at night, so if he wandered himself too deep into this mess, he really would need to wait until morning before having his pidgey seek out rescue.
He groaned and rubbed his face. Just. Problems on problems. They kept stacking up. He carded both hands through his hair and ignored the warm, sticky humidity that made his clothes cling and chafe uncomfortably. Adrian kept moving towards those lights. Civilization here he comes. Somehow...

The night stirred to life inside of Penumbra Hills. Large black wings fluttered like imaginations gone wild through the canopies that hung overhead and nearly blanketed out the starry skies above. Long legless reptiles hissed and rattled in warning at the slightest provocation, while curling up to prop their heads high and strike at the slightest movements nearby. Small purple rodents scurried underfoot, whilst large webs draped from one branch to another between the trees, allowing small green arachnids to rest inside of their spun homes. Long howls carried off into the hot humid night. It was an orchestra all on its own as the canines communicated through the network of densely packed trees with one another. Some were short yips and loud barks, while others were long and drawn out bays that called to the heavens above. Dark grey clouds dotted the skies above in warning and though they wouldn’t shed their heavy weight in the form of much needed precipitation, it was enough to send most creatures scurrying for comfort. Wet red noses pressed through the tall green grasses and sniffed the ground underfoot. Pairs of yellowish eyes with bright red pupils glanced from one another as the shaggy beast would give short, gruff responses in the forms of quick yips and soft whines. Food was near. The kind that legends only spoke of them being able to successfully hunt down, with the hopes of feeding their pack for many nights. They encircled Adrian and his companions carefully, two flanking Adrian from behind and two on each side, while the leader rose up in front of Adrian like a beacon of hope among its tribe. “I can’t wait to take you down!” The canine growled loudly, before springing into action to soar through the air towards the young man. Oh sh—
Adrian whirled as he realized that they were surrounded and these woods were not friendly. He'd caught sight of other creatures while wandering, but he didn't expect for them to become hostile. Perhaps more the fool was he for daring to assume such a silly thing as that. Buddy dropped her stick in surprise at the grows and huddled close to his leg, spooked by the noise. Adrian took on a braced stance and grit his teeth, straining to see in the trace bands of moonlight. Then he caught it. The glimmer of grey fur between bands of inky black shadows that devoured all light. These were not scuttling spiders or scampering mice, but hounds. He pulled out his pokedex, hoping maybe the light and sound would startle them and keep the pack from closing in.
[Poochyena the Bite Pokemon. A Pokémon with a persistent nature, it chases its chosen prey until the prey becomes exhausted.]
Oh that was just great.
Apparently these weren't the sort to just scamper off when spooked. They'd stick around. Well. That meant they'd have to stand their ground and fight.
"Get ready, Bud," he muttered, and the bulbasaur widened her stance and prepared as well. She knew it was serious. And of course, a moment later, one of the pooches leapt forth, snarling out a threat. "NOW! USE TACKLE!"
Buddy would respond to the hound's leap with one of her own, trying to knock it back away from her trainer as he fumbled for a pokeball. He'd expand it with his thumb and watch for a moment. He couldn't tell through the gloom if Buddy hit the poochyena or if she was hit back. It was impossible to clearly see a thing. So he shined the light of his 'nav in the direction of the fight to get a clearer view before taking aim.
One second. Two. His heart raced. He didn't know if he'd have to fight off all three or if they'd scatter if one of their own was defeated. So he couldn't let this battle drag on. He breathed in. Slow. Deep. Then. He cocked his arm back and threw the pokeball, hoping to hit his target and end this fight before it really began.

The pack stayed close to Adrian and his team. Should they try to turn and run in any direction, one of the pack members that guarded the edges of the battle would snap at them with sharp teeth that longed to sink into soft flesh and rip it open. Their yellow eyes with bright red pupils stared through the long blades of grass hungrily at Adrian and barked excitedly as their tails bounced from side to side. They trusted their leader. Poochyena never led its pack astray, and they had no reason to assume this would be any different. When they howled with a bone-chilling sound, their voices would sound as ravenous as their hunger was. As Buddy leaped after the wild canine, Poochyena would smirk and focus its attention on the bulbous plant. It landed on the ground and turned around to kick up large piles of sand at Buddy, managing to hit her directly in her face, knocking her off her path temporarily. The sands clung to the corners of her eyes and made it difficult for her to see her opponent. Through compromised vision, Buddy immediately spun around and slammed her head into the side of the wild canine, who snarled and snapped its sharp teeth at the air near Buddy’s face. “You’ll be first we sink our sharp fangs into!” It laughed, haunches raised, and prepared its attack on the delicious looking prey. Would it taste as good as the purple mice it chased, or would it taste more like the disgusting shrubs that grew in abundance along the wild hillside? What Poochyena didn’t expect was the small red-and-white ball that Adrian flung at it just as quickly. The ball would smack Poochyena against the top of its head and pull it inside of the device with a burst of red light. The ball fell on the ground and rolled around as the ravenous pack watched on, eagerly awaiting their leader’s triumph over their next meal. When the ball stopped moving and dinged with success, the pack glanced nervously amongst each other. What should they do?! When it was clear their leader wasn’t returning, they turned and raced off through the tall grasses with nervous yips. “They made our leader disappear!” One whined loudly. “They probably ate them!” The other barked worriedly, before disappearing into the dense woodland. Of course the pooch kicked sand into Buddy's face. Dirty tricks were reliable to getting the upper hand over your foe and these devouring dark types were clearly out to sink their fangs into them! However, Buddy's attack landed true and so did Adrian's pokeball. There was a flash of light and then...captured. One down. Adrian braced for the fight to continue, but the rest of the pack fled, apparently less keen on a fight now that their leader had vanished. He huffed in relief before kneeling to pick up the ball. Well. That could have been way worse. At least they had some breathing room for now.
For a moment, he turned the pokeball in his hand, watching the traces of moonlight glint of the shiny surface. "A pack leader, huh... What should I call you?" then he recalled that Buddy needed some help, and pocketed his new 'mon to go to her side. He pulled out a handkerchief and wiped her face, cleaning away the sand. Seemed like he did that a lot. But she was a trooper. Buddy propped her front feet on his chest with a proud cheer and he smiled. "Yeah, you did good, Bud. Real good. Keeping us both safe despite me getting us into this mess."
He pet her head for a little bit before straightening. Off in the distance he could still catch the glow of what he knew had to be windows. He could get there. He knew he could.
"You think our little Sergeant here would be able to sniff out the trail?" Adrian quipped, trying to calm himself with a little dry humor. "At least he can see something..." Well, he didn't have the pooch's trust yet, but, why not start? He let the poochyena out of his ball and watched his hackles raise and listen to him growl. No attacking, just...wariness. Adrian sighed and pulled his pack off, and then pulled out some jerky. "Here. We're going to be a team now, Sarge. You're hungry, and I need out of this forest. Help me get back to the trail and there's more of this." He wiggled the jerky.
Sergeant snapped the treat up with powerful jaws and growled again. But with a considering tilt to his head, he sniffed the air...and began to lead the way through the gloom...

The tall grasses stirred as they traveled through the sloping hills. While some of their paths might seem gentle to start, many were not. Steep ledges would make it nearly impossible to travel in many directions, with thick trees that sprung up at nearly every turn. Sargent, a native to the lands, might be able to easily squeeze through the thick bramblebushes whose thorny limbs would just as easily cut and scratch at Adrian’s soft flesh should he try the same thing. There were breaks between two large oak trees, who grew separately from one another but then twisted back towards each other higher up to wrap around each other. If Adrian tried, he could just fit between the spaces in between the two mighty oak trees. As soon as he tried this, though, the young man would have a face full of spider web. The owner of the web crawled up the sides of one of the mighty oaks, watching everything that transpired below through lackadaisical eyes that cared less what would become of the wolves and their foolish need to charge headfirst into anything they merely thought they could capture. It cost them their leader in return. The spider, however, would be content to wait silently until its powerful webs were able to catch something that it could wrap up in its silky trap and drink the fluids just as easily. When the web began to shake, the bright green spider jumped eagerly and rushed towards it web only to see all of its work of building it ruined all too easily. “Oh, what?!” Spinarak snapped, spinning around on the rough oak bark until its eyes landed on Adrian and Buddy and narrowed down suspiciously. “Why did you ruin all my hard work?! I can’t eat any of you!” It cried with a loud hiss, spitting long strings of sticky webbing at Adrian in anger. “But I can make you pay for your transgressions!” It promised them. Somehow, he felt like he might have made the wrong decision letting Sarge lead. These gaps in the trees were perilous and narrow. He barely squeezed past as he sucked in his breath and pulled his backpack off. Would he get stuck in some terrible tangle of branches? No. No. He had to have some hope. He'd get out of here. Just had to be patient and not panic. After all, he bribed the poochyena with snacks. He certainly would help him, right? (Unless of course the pup had no idea what path he was talking about and they were now wandering towards his old den. Now wouldn't that be an unfortunate situation?) With a shudder and a groan, he kept trudging along, trying not to trip or lose sight of either of his pokemon in the darkness. That is until he walked face first unto a spider web. ACK!
He staggered and floundered a bit, pulling the webbing off his face with a disgruntled cry of surprise and disgust. Urg. What? oh. Oh no. That was a big spider. A big angry spider that spat web all over Adrian who had to throw his arms over his face to keep from getting it in his eyes. Sarge growled a bit, but it was Buddy who moved forward protectively.
'We didn't mean any harm! We're just lost!' Even the sweet bulbasaur was tired and and a little at her wits end. There was no need to attack her trainer like that!
Adrian, concerned about getting bitten, backed up and tried to shake the webbing off his clothes.
"Ug. Buddy, use tackle! Knock it out of the web!"
He couldn't exactly leave an angry bug at his back, especially one that was venomous. That was just asking to be nibbled on in your sleep.
Fortunately Buddy seemed keen on that plan and did just that, leaping up to try to knock down that spider. Taking a couple passes if necessary!

The small Spinarak paused in its web and pressed one of its bright yellow-and-black striped legs to the side of its face with a small hum. The bulbous plant Pokemon seemed to speak the truth. The light that shined inside of Buddy’s eyes didn’t look sketchy in the least bit. But its webbing was all ruined now and would take it forever to repair. What would the other spiders say when they saw what a catastrophe this turned out to be? “Where were you trying to get to anyways? This isn’t exactly made for…whatever you are and your human friend.” Spinarak stated dryly and gestured to the wild, overgrown hilly landscape around them. Humans sometimes wandered around Penumbra Hills, but they would often get barricaded by all of the overgrown trees that the estates did absolutely nothing about. When Buddy rushed after the small green spider, who would have talked things out in a civil manner since it seemed that the bulbous plant was quick to apologize, it squealed in surprise. Buddy knocked it completely out of the web and caused Spinarak to fumble about in the tall grasses. Angrily, it leaped back up on its nimble feet and spun around to stare up at Buddy’s impressively large figure. “What was that all about?! Here I was reconsidering making you pay!” It slapped two of its yellow-and-black striped legs against the upper portion of its abdomen like it was slapping its chest in anger. Then Spinarak would raise its butt up into the air, where the facial markings on its abdomen began to glow with a scary, ominous presence. As Buddy prepared herself once more, Spinarak continued on it’s current attack making sure that the creepy markings on the backside of its abdomen would crawl underneath Buddy’s skin (figuratively speaking, of course). It smirked when it finally landed back on all its legs, only to have Buddy slam into its side. The force of Buddy’s tackle knocked Spinarak backwards through the tall grass, against the side of a rock where it actually flew up and over, and into the rough bark of an old oak tree. “Oaf!” Spinarak huffed and puff, recollecting itself and shaking off the excess debris that clung to its body. “That was dirty and underhanded! I hope you stay lost forever!” Spinarak snapped in anger. Wild Encounter Weather: Clear [attr="class","qkt-bkgd"] [attr="class","qkt-wild-pkmn"] Spinarak LV 12 HP 54% [19/35]

Buddy found herself half wanting to apologize and half just as frustrated as the spider. Her trainer had been attacked and the spinarak had seemed civil, but she was frustrated and now everyone was covered in sticky webbing from running through the webs and— she shuddered as the spider kept flashing the haunting pattern on its abdomen. So creepy. She shuffled back, head shaking as she tried to focus and just stay strong. Now was not the time to falter or flee.
(It didn't help that Adrian's poor mood was seeping into the situation too. He flicked off more web from his jacket and glowered at the spider blocking their path.)
"Buddy, tackle it one more time, I'm going to end this." He reached into his bag for a pokeball. Where? He knew there were more in here. He searched and searched in the black void of his backpack in the DARK, while Buddy looked at the menacing spider with wary reluctance.
'W-well. You started it! You were mean and rude first!' Uncertainly, she charged the spider to try to knock it back again before it could spray a mess of webs all over. When Adrian was certain she was no longer between him and the spider, he pulled out a pokeball and tossed it at the spinarak. Except, hm, it didn't flash any light when it struck the spider. Why didn't...oh no. He'd seen the adrenaline orbs at the shop and picked up a couple because of a pushy store clerk hyping them up for catching rare and unique pokemon. How it was all the rage in Alola and was growing in popularity in Johto.
Adrian swore. Stupid, stupid mistake!

The green spider was a little confused that the human wasn’t trying to hightail it through the forested hillside with his Pokemon companion. It seen a few young schoolgirls take off and completely abandon their Pokemon in their haste to get away. “I’m rude?! For wanting you to pay for what you’ve done to my home? Do you know how much work it is to tend to a web, huh?!” Spinarak demanded, crawling right up into Buddy’s face and poking one of its long yellow-and-black striped legs towards Buddy’s snout. If Buddy didn’t move out the way, Spinarak would gently but firmly tap her directly on the nose to make its point known. Then, regardless, it would spit a long strand of sticky silk from its abdomen and cover Buddy’s face in its sticky string. Buddy rammed the close spider once move, knocking it through the tall grasses. It rolled over and lifted itself up on its back four legs to try and look taller. “Is that all you’ve got?!” Spinarak roared at the top of its lungs in anger. Its entire body began to glow with a strange light as a small blue orb rolled across the ground towards it. As soon as Spinarak launched itself on the small orb – thinking finally they were trying to offer it a peace offering – a thick plume of blue gas shot out of the orb and covered the area temporarily. “Ah?! What! That’s a dirty trick!” Spinarak roared, leaping out of the smoke and shooting a strange green energy at Buddy to drain her of some health. It then wailed loudly in the air, calling for help. “All spider kind! There has been an enemy sent here to ruin all our webs!” What came rushing over the hillside to Spinarak’s side was nothing like what it expected. Where it hoped for another lookalike spider, a beastly black mammal with sharp canines, bone-like grey ridges on its back and legs, with a skull plated ridge on its head, and bright red belly and muzzle appeared. Flames licked at its teeth as the canine narrowed its eyes hungrily upon Adrian and his plant-based Pokemon. “What are you doing in my territory?!” The Houndour barked angrily, bristling the fur along its back. “Get lost before this gets ugly!” It snapped. What was that? THAT was not a spider. Adrian grabbed his pokedex successfully this time and pointed it at the pair of pokemon across from him.
[Spinarak the String Spit Pokemon. It sets a trap by spinning a web with thin but strong thread. It waits motionlessly for prey to arrive.]
Not that one! He shifted it towards the newcomer that was all growls and dark fur.
[Houndour the Dark Pokemon. It conveys its feelings using different cries. It works in a pack to cleverly take down prey.]
Just dark wouldn't have been too bad if he didn't look at the info on the pokemon and see that it was also part fire.
Was now a good time to swear more and curse his luck? It was bad enough he accidentally threw one of those orb things, but now he was face-to-face with a fire-type hound AND that spider. Buddy was shaking her head and trying to unstick herself from the web, but her movements were painfully sluggish. Between being spooked and the sticky web, she wasn't going to be moving anywhere quickly.
Adrian breathed in. Breathed out again. Once. Twice. Thrice.
"We can do this Buddy." He curled his hands into fists. The pokemart guy explained the orbs. How it was too hard to aim and catch pokemon in swarms or pairs, so he'd need to be careful with the orbs and be prepared to knock them out one at a time, assuming he wanted to catch one. And the adrenaline orb'd spider would keep calling for help until it was exhausted or fainted should its partner be fainted. So he needed to, despite his concerns about the fire type, focus on getting the spinarak off the field. That way he could just focus on the houndour one-on-one. "Use tackle on the spider again. You can do it." Sarge growled at his side. If needed, he could have his new poochyena help out, but Sarge wasn't as high leveled as Buddy...He might not be able to handle them both at once.
The little bulbasaur that could valiantly did her best despite the webs. She tried not to focus on the new houndour that could scorch her if he so chose, and instead tried to tackle the spinarak one more time. Hoping too that it would be enough to knock it out before this fight got even messier.

The Dark Pokemon narrowed its eyes down on the large bulbous plant and raised its hackles. This was a strange Pokemon unlike anything it had encountered in its home turf. Bulbasaur’s general shape and sluggish moves enticed the wild canine. Houndour tilted its head back and howled into the night. The sound was rhythmic and upbeat, like a call to arms to some unknown and unseen group far off into the distance. Was it alone? Was that a call to its pack who lurked just beyond the shadows? The small green spider used the opportunity to crawl its way up the side of a massive live oak tree, trying to remain hidden so that it would just gently shimmy on off before both battlers noticed. Hot red flames would shoot out of Houndour’s lips as it raced after Bulbasaur. As the flames licked at the small plant’s body, causing Buddy to drop on the ground and roll around to put out most of the flames, its side slammed into the side of Spinarak’s tree. “Yipe! Watch it, please!” It squealed, dropping back on the ground once more. In desperation, the green spider raised its abdomen back up into the air and waved it around, showing off the strange facial markings on the back of its abdomen. The face glowed ominously, causing Buddy to be quite possibly the slowest she could ever be in life. When Houndour whipped back around, hearing Spinarak scream, it ‘yiped’ again and darted through the tall grass to duck behind a rock. Buddy hopped back on her feet after putting out most of the flames that licked at her flesh. She rushed behind the large rock that Spinarak tried to hide behind and knocked the small spider back out into the open by ramming her head against Spinarak’s body. What gives?! Can’t an innocent little spider just scurry off before the crazy flame dog and it’s future lunch the mean bulb plant took it off the census?! It still had grand-spideys it wanted to see grow up and become powerful Spinarak one day, sheesh! “Listen, that hurts. It always hurts! You need to focus less on me and more on that deranged fire dog that seems to think you’re food, missy!” Spinarak poked Buddy in her stubby snout and then pointed towards the firedog who was barreling after her once more. "BUDDY!"
Adrian's breath hitched as he was gripped by a violent, cold shock of fear. He knew it was a dangerous game keeping Buddy out there like that, but it was two against one, his other pokemon were weaker, and quite frankly, he was panicking. Could Barry see well enough in the dark to fight? Given the hard time Buddy was having, would Sarge honestly do any better? Bug...well, was an untrained bug. Braum? No. That houndour would torch it. He felt cornered and as if he had no good options. Sure, one of his others might be a little less flammable, but it would also give the enemy extra chances to attack. He had to get this down to a one-on-one as quickly as possible, which meant ignoring the houndour for now, despite every instinct screaming at him to pick up his bulbasaur and run into the night.
He took a staggering step forward as Buddy managed to shake off the flames, looking hurt, but hanging in there. He didn't like the look of her hurting. It twisted up inside of him, bitter and awful, and left him choking on his breath. This was all his fault. If she got seriously hurt or worse, it was. his. fault. Because he couldn't keep his head in a crisis. Because he got lost. Because everything! Buddy wasn't the one who wandered into this dark forest all by herself. He did it. He brought them here, and he had to step up to the plate to figure a way out of here that wouldn't result in the houndour chasing them down and setting Adrian on fire too.
"You okay?"
Buddy looked back at him with a nod. Bulba.
She forced a cheerful expression on her face. She couldn't worry her trainer more than she already had. He was so anxious. Buddy just wanted to see him smile. To be happy. That's all she wanted from anyone she met. She wanted to bring them joy. To hear their laughter. To be their friend. Perhaps it was innocence or ignorance or foolishness. But to her, there was strength in positivity and bringing joy to others. She braced herself and shook off the pain that now itched at her skin. Those scorch marks would heal in time. She could handle this. She was strong. She would be stronger.
For Adrian. For her new friends. For herself.
"...I know that houndour has a nasty ember, but I need you to keep focusing on the spider. If you can knock it out, it will be just you and the new guy. Less chance of someone getting attack from behind by its sneaking." Clearly someone had it out for the spider despite said spider literally doing almost nothing to Buddy this whole fight except slow her down. "Use tackle! You can do it! Knock that spider out, Bud!" He wasn't much of a pep-talker or an optimist, but Adrian knew that letting Buddy know he was freaked out wouldn't help either of them. So with his hands clenched tight and his gaze on the hound, he hoped for for the best...
As he did, Buddy chased the spider again with an apology. This was precautionary and apparently her trainer was still really, really upset about the whole covered in webs thing...

The wild canine narrowed its eyes on its prey and raised its hackles while growling. Vicious, hungry, and desperate, Houndour was unsure how tasty or nutritious this strange bulbous plant could be. It seemed keen on standing in Houndour’s way, whose eyes stared hungrily in stolen glances towards Adrian. That was a large prey. One where it needed the aided guidance of its troupe, who should be along shortly. As strange howls bounced over the hills and echoed in promises of their eventual arrival, Houndour only needed to stall and remove this plant-like creature should Buddy prove not to be as tasty. “Give the human over and I may let you live.” A promise it wouldn’t actually make good on. Spinarak hurried behind a large tree with wide, fearful eyes. “You’re chasing the wrong one!” A plea that was surely to be forgotten. Flames licked at the wild grasses as Houndour ran around spouting them from the tip of its tongue. Many burned at the hard old wooden trees, charring them along their sides. Several more would singe and burn Buddy’s flesh, causing the small plant to drop back on the ground once more and roll most of them out, avoiding more serious burns. Houndour smirked, side-eying the little spider who jumped off a tree as the embers licked at its bark. “You’re next if you don’t scram.” It warned with a harsh laugh. “What do you think I’m trying to do?!” The bright green spider squeaked. Its body began to glow with a strange green light, that it would shoot out and use to absorb a sliver of health from Buddy’s body. It wasn’t enough to stop the turtle-speed torpedo of plant that raced through the now charred grasses around them. Buddy slung up ash and dirt everywhere as she rammed into the small Spinarak, sending the poisonous spider flying backwards through the tall grasses, making sure its quick getaway wasn’t so quick nor possible. “That crazy dog is gunna eat all of us! W-why don’t we work together? A-against it!?” Spinarak now pleaded with Buddy. Wild Encounter Weather: Clear [attr="class","qkt-bkgd"] [attr="class","qkt-wild-pkmn"] Spinarak LV 12 HP 9% [3/35]

Work...together...
Buddy wanted to do so... Maybe... It could work...
She staggered and swayed, greatly weakened by more attacks yet. She tried her best to be strong. To protect her trainer. But her limbs were so heavy. It felt impossible to move fast enough to even try to act now. She panted and tried to move forward, to react, to lay the seeds of potential... To rise above it all. But...she couldn't. She knew she couldn't take another hit. Still yet she remained firm.
"I won't let you hurt him!" she cried at the houndour. Then to the spider. "Please...help me. Help me protect my trainer. He's...upset and confused and I...don't know what to do." Her voice trembled. She was scared.
"BUDDY!" Adrian cried out, running closer, foolishly, to get between Buddy and the other pokemon. "You don't have to fight anymore. Sarge, take down the spider with a tackle." The poocheyna yipped as he leapt into the fray. Assuming the spider and houndour didn't take him down first, he'd for his best to tackle that spinarak that made Buddy a weakened mess. As he did so, Adrian pulled out a pokeball. He stared at it for a second. He squeezed it in his hand. He could just be opening Sarge up to even more grief, but the poochyena was a fighter. And he still had Barry. They'd get through this. Then he'd heal everyone up and apologize for getting them into this mess again-and-again until they got out of this. "I'm such an idiot. So sorry. I'm so sorry..." He felt his eyes and chest burn. And futilely, should Sarge manage to knock out the spider without getting knocked out himself, he would try throwing a pokeball at the houndour.
