NOTES - if we could hatch the nido eggie i'd be super appreciative <3 Raiden wasn't used to having anyone else really be around him as long as this new guy had stuck. It was almost impossible to get him off, no matter what he said or did, it was almost like he was attached by super glue. But for a moment or two of breathing room since they had reached the city Raiden had decided to get some extra training on his newer Pokemon to his team. The poochyena he had rescued and the egg she had been caring for is safely in his arms and the pooch is by his side.
"I know this is a new thing for you poochyena, but I'm going to be with you every step of the way." he wouldn't abandon her. It seemed there had been enough of that in her and this egg's life to last an entire lifetime. So together they stopped back into the route between New Bark Town and Cherrygrove. He probably only had an hour or two at most to do some training before that guy was back attached to his side and made comments he didn't want to hear. Raiden needed some personal space even if his chest said something completely different.
In a way, it was nice to feel like someone wasn't afraid of him, that someone wanted to be by his side. He couldn't soften up that quickly or he'd let someone in again and he wasn't sure he was ready for that. But, secretly he didn't mind that he was persistent in staying by his side at least for now. "Have you ever had someone you didn't particularly want around, but didn't mind either?" he knows that poochyena can't answer him back other than small yips that come from her, but it felt nice talking about it even if he didn't get an answer.
Arcues knew that Raiden was much better with pokemon than he was with people.

Raiden and his Pokemon had selected a nice day to go back to Route 29, the sun shining brightly. Unfortunately, due to the fact that it was still summer, the humidity had really crept up in the last few days and in the direct sunlight, it would almost feel oppressive. Summer was not the best time for extensive traveling, but at the same time trainers had very real problems with standing or sitting still for long periods. Who could blame them, really, when there was so much out there to be seen and experience? The Pokemon that lived along the route were feeling the effects of the summer conditions as well, and unfortunately this kind of weather had the habit of making every testy and short fused. Today would be no different as a small insect Pokemon dangled from a nearby tree, looking ready to hit Raiden with a string shot for getting too close to its favorite tree. <Away with you! Be gone from this tree!> it called, glaring daggers. Level 2 Wild Wurmple is upset! Shiny roll: t9NKnUlS1-42What's this? A Nidoran F hatched from your egg! NOTES - poochy is tackling at the wurm Raiden could deal with the heat, of anything that was something that he was definitely good at. Considering he had come from the Orre Region where it was nothing but heat and sun, he was quite at home in the summer months. Though he did have to shed some layers to be more comfortable, today he had his jacket off replaced with just a plain white t-shirt though his gloves remained despite this change in appearance. If he ever needed his jacket he could always pull it back out of his bag, though he may have to invest in a hat or some shades if the sun was going to continue to beat down on him.
Though other trainers seemed to all but disappear it didn't have to be trainers that he was looking for but Pokemon themselves. His poochyena was younger after all, and she would need something smaller to fight against. It seemed that luck was on their side however when it was a bug that seemed to interrupt their path it shooting warning signs with its eyes and Raiden was surprised he wasn't string shot from where he was right now. "You ready poochyena?" he asks as another small bark comes from the small canine. The problem was it was off the ground so Poochyena had to jump on a rock to manage to get high enough to try and tackle at the bug, that and also knock it off the tree.
<"Come down here."> she tipped in response as she tried to get the pokemon out of the tree it was protecting. In the meantime, the egg that was in Raiden's arms began to glow as it changed and a Nidoran♀ seemed to take its place. A bright smile lights up Raiden's face. "Well hello little one, nice to see you join. Shall we watch this battle together?" he asked giving a gentle rub on top of Nidoran's head.

As the angry Wurmple tried to come up with some stratagy to deal with the Poochyena across from it the young bug was not fast enough as Poochyena rushed forward. Wurmple fearing for it's life tried to crawl out of the way as fast as possible however it was unable to get out of the way of the incoming Tackle as the impact sent it skidding across the ground stopping right at the base of it's favorite tree. The bug had little doubt that it could deal as much damage as the young canine in a single hit but it still could slow it down taking advantage of the sticky string it was able to fire from it's mouth. Wurmple reared back it's head before firing a large glob of string that stuck to the young Poochyena's front legs. The attack caused no damage but it did slow the poor creature down to such a degree that even the lowly Wurmple could now outrun it. The bug had no doubts that it would take more than slowing Poochyena down to defend it's tree but by slowing the canine down it would have a bit more time to plan out it's next move before dealing with another attack from the mighty Poochyena. NOTES - poochy is tackling at the wurm, again There was very little that could be done when it came to the sticky web that the wurmple threw out at the Poochyena, especially since she couldn't really do much to avoid it. It got caught in her fur and she tried desperately to bite off the sticky stuff quickly finding that the taste was absolutely terrible. "You're okay Poocheyna, just be careful not to trip yourself!" Raiden called hoping that the string wouldn't catch her too much off guard though he would make sure that he would brush her fur out as soon as the battle was done.
"Make sure you're being careful but let's go for another tackle." it wasn't like they had much of another choice since it was the only move that Poochyena had. The dark type tried to untangle herself from the string but it stuck to her paws and to the ground it was a slow process trying to get up the speed to actually tackle the wurmple doing her best despite the situation, hoping that she would still hit even though she was so slow.

The Poochyena barked at Raiden, thinking she'll understand her human's words. She carefully moved her feet around as she looked down at her paws to examine if any remaining webs tangled her feet. Maybe she's a little too careful, as this distraction gave the Wurmple an opportunity to quickly inch forward. The defensive bug type got close enough toward the dark type and threw itself forward, slamming onto the Poochyena's soft furs. The canine was knocked out of her senses, and quickly returned with a quick and hearty Tackle at the Wurmple, throwing the bug back at a reasonable distance. The naïve Wurmple was battered, and a few more Tackle should do the trick of convincing it to let the trainer pass its favorite tree! NOTES - poochy is tackling at the wurm, again Perhaps he shouldn't have said to be overly careful, because it seemed that Poochyena was trying a little too hard to make sure she didn't fall. Of course, he wanted her to be safe, above everything else he didn't want to see her hurt. The problem was that because she was so involved in that she didn't see the small bug moving forward quickly to attack her. Thankfully it didn't seem to do too much damage but the small dog was also able to respond in kind to give a tackle back to the little bug.
"Good job Poochyena, we got this." he offered encouraging words to the pokemon. "Let's give it our all and use another tackle." it wasn't like they had another choice at this time. Not until she got higher level and then maybe they could start using moves that she had learned. For now, it was a strength of tackles that would lead this fight. Not as concentrated on her paws or the sticky string she had been hit with the Poochyena moved to try to aim one more tackle at the small bug putting as much into it as she could.
Meanwhile, Raiden glanced for only a moment to take a look at the surrounding area, it did look like a small mist was starting to roll into the area which would limit vision. It didn't look like it would be a problem yet, but Raiden would make sure to keep his attention on the weather as well since that would change the course of the battle. [googlefont=Karla]

The skittish (angry, scared?) wurmple shuffled back and spat more sticky webs at the poochyena's feet. It scuttled away, hoping the slowed down pooch would not be able to catch it. But alas, its foe was very determined despite those gooped up paws. Despite those sluggish movement and mindful footwork, the determined pooch managed to catch up to the worm and slam into its back, sending it rolling into a nearby rock with a THUMP! Yikes! That was a hard hit. The worm wobbled a bit, very dazed. What just...happened? It saw literal stars as it tried to right itself. This battle was solidly in the poochyena's court now. The wurmple didn't look like it could withstand much more tackling before it was out cold. In fact, it barely looked like it could handle a stiff breeze. It wavered and wobbled and bobbed, struggling to get right again. Dizzy. Eventually, though slowly, the wurmple righted itself and turned to face the pooch that had it cornered. NOTES - poochy is tackling at the wurm, for the last time xD It seemed that even with all the string that kept getting shot at the little dog she was still pushing her absolute best to win this fight. Even as her trainer encouraged her she made sure to be careful with her steps so that she wouldn't get tangled up but at the very least she would put her all into this tackle. As she jumped forward she felt herself slam extra hard into the small bug sending it back quite a distance. She felt quite proud of herself, and Raiden was quick to notice how hard she was trying.
"Good job Poochyena!" he called. It seemed that the wurmple was finally able to move back up but it looked like it was almost finished. "One more time Poochyena." he said. It felt a little bad to be picking on the pokemon, but that was how they had to train to get stronger. Maybe this time they would be able to get it taken down and get that well deserved experience for Poochyena. [googlefont=Karla]

The dark type barked proudly, she knew she was doing great! The dog might have been sluggish from the String Shot tangling her movement, but she was eager to tackle the Wurmple once again! The more agile bug type crawled quickly and flung itself toward the opponent once again! It was not giving up defending itself and its tree! Thankfully, the Poochyena's tough hide was still strong enough to block off the squishy Wurmple's tackle. Poochyena yapped and then returned the Wurmple with another hearty tackle. The bug type was tossed like a gummy candy, and then fell onto the floor, unconscious. If the young trainer would like to capture this Pokemon, this would be a great time before the mist rolls in and obscures vision. Poochyena gained 2 levels for winning! Now +5! She learned Howl! NOTES - new encounter please <3 Raiden couldn't help but be exceedingly proud of the hard work that Poochyena had put into the battle. She was doing absolute good work even if the tackle was the only move she knew at the moment they would get her stronger one step at a time. They just had to keep pushing and they would make it there. She seemed just as excited to do the same and finally, after one last good tackle, it seemed that it was done. The wurmple had fainted meaning she had won! Raiden can't help it, his body moves, and his arms move to pick up the little pokemon in his arms and holds her up like Simba for a moment.
"You did absolutely amazing." he said pulling her back in his arms and nuzzling her nose. He might have looked like a child, but he didn't really care, his pokemon came first. For as grumpy and closed off as he may have been towards people that didn't extend to the pokemon that he took care of. Another happy little yelp came from the Poochyena at being praised like this, it had been such a lonely existence before eventually being taken in by her new trainer. Especially after taking care of the egg in that shed where she had found it. Now she was being actually cared about by someone, and that was something she didn't think she would ever have. Perhaps her packmates weren't completely in the wrong when they had been taken one by one.
Raiden finally moved to hold her in his arms like normal and seemed to completely ignore the fainted wurmple since he had no reason to capture the pokemon. "Let's go get you healed up why don't we?" he said gently as he moved to head to get her healed within the town. There was no such thing as being too careful after all and he wanted her to be completely healed before they tried any more battles. It was a quick trip and didn't take too long since they were just outside of the town anyway, there wasn't much to go before hitting Cherrygrove but he was sure he was going to be followed by that Aspen guy.
"Do you think we could outrun him?" he askes Poochyena who is not walking beside him since she had been healed. A couple of barks are given to him in exchange. A small laugh manages to come from Raiden, something that many others would not see - too busy being closed off from people. "I think we could too." its definitely something to think about but for now he is going to help Poochyena get stronger. [googlefont=Karla]

"Get outta my flower bed!"Raiden would hear that shout. As he kept moving forward, he'd see a house around a bend. There, with a broom in hand, was a little old lady. She was stooped over from age, with pale, wrinkled skin and a severe bun that was more grey than black. Her eyes were bright and sharp with intelligence and ire. Clearly, this elderly woman was full of vim, vigor and vinegar. She was DONE with this pokemon destroying her garden. Just. Done. No more! "Every day you come here and eat my tulips! I will not have it! Shoo! Shoo!" She shuffled towards a little bricked in flower bed with all the speed of a raging torkoal. She brandished her weapon of choice with the ferocity of a knight of yore. "I will get you!" SWAT! The broom thumped the brick edging and sent a spray of little dirt particles and mulch. The pokemon in question? It was a little sentret who looked terribly unimpressed and pointedly shoved a whole tulip bulb in its mouth. NOMPH. It then started to dig a little. "Shooooo!" THUMP. The sentret jumped a little. Scooted a few inches to the side...returned to digging. It uprooted a whole flower, roots and all, and began to chow down. The old lady let out an inarticulate battle cry.

NOTES - adding muscle band to poochyena, using howl to get attention It was still pretty early in the day, perhaps a little after the afternoon? That was still early kind of, plenty of time to train and get stronger. Even as Poochyena followed behind him keeping up at his heels. It was a comfortable silence, there was a tempting offer to actually try to escape the strange guy that was following him around. He had almost forgotten though! Pulling his bag off momentarily he paused moving to the side of the road to dig through it. So many things had been added that he still had to sort through.
Poochyena tilted her head and moved to sit near his feet wondering what was going on. Her tail wagged and thumped on the ground as she watched him. Aha! There it was, man he really needed to clean his bag out eventually. Pulling out a yellow band he moved to offer it to Poochyena. "This is apparently a muscle band, it will help power up your physical moves." he let the pokemon smell it and look it over before a small yip came from her. Raiden was careful to gently attach it to her forehead and it caused a small smile. They looked like they belonged in a dojo somewhere, but if it would help then he wasn't going to say no.
"Shall we continue on?" he asked and another couple of barks was his answer as the two continued back on their way through the town. What Raiden didn't expect was the sound of an elderly lady in quite distress. It only took a few more long strides to find out what it was that was causing her this trouble. A pokemon or rather a sentret was bothering her garden and seemed to have no respect for personal property. This wasn't going to be good, especially with the exasperated cry that the woman was giving the pokemon who refused to give up.
"Hey Poochyena, let's help them out." he said before the pokemon nodded and picked up the pace. "Let's see if you can get its attention with a deep howl." he said motioning to his stomach to bring it deep from in there. Silly trainer, you didn't have to teach a Poochyena how to howl, she could do it just fine. Though she did move closer to the area little paws padding against the ground near where the Sentret was chowing on a flower. A deep howl came from her when she was close enough for it to startle or maybe catch the pokemon's attention.
<"Hey buddy, that doesn't belong to you"> a small growl following her words at the pokemon. [googlefont=Karla]

Poochy's howl caused everyone to stop for a second, the keening wail coming from nowhere. Turning her head, the old lady looked like she was about to complain or yell about something, before her confused face erupted into a wide smile, showing that she was missing quite a few teeth. It seemed that she was one of those soft food elderly citizens. "Oh! Oh!" she cried, hobbling over. "A Pokemon trainer! Perfect! I need your help. This pest has been plaguing my garden for days now. If something isn't done, the entire year's flowers will be decimated. My garden always wins the annual competition, and I can't have this rodent ruining my chances at this year's contest. Please, remove it!" she begged, practically in tears. Meanwhile, the Sentret decided to finish it's uprooted snack before even giving the dark pup a slight bit of attention. Smacking his little lips, the rodent finally turned to the pup. <Yeah? And? What's it to you? You a do-gooder?>The rodent didn't seem intimidated at all, which was interesting. They usually seemed very skittish and afraid of everything. <You wanna go?> it asked, practically flexing and daring the Poochyena to do something about it. NOTES - using howl to start the battle. Raiden had hoped that it would be enough to actually get the attention without really getting too involved. Raiden was completely fine when it came to pokemon, but people? He wasn't great at that whatsoever - so if he could just draw the battle to him without having to say anything that would be perfect. Though it seemed that didn't quite work out the way he wanted, sure they got attention but it was from both of the patrons that were before them. The sentret seemed zoned in on the poochyena while the old lady seemed to look to Raiden instead.
"Ah, yes I am." he wasn't used to this at all, it made him so uncomfortable because he wasn't used to someone asking for his help. It wasn't that Raiden was a bad guy, even if the law believed that, but things were always houndour eat houndour back in Orre. No one asked for help because they were too afraid to be stabbed in the back. "I'll take care of it." he wasn't good at this whole long conversation thing, but he didn't mind saying such since that had been his plan from the beginning. He was going to take care of this pokemon and then move on ahead to continue the training that needed to be done. Maybe give some level to his lower leveled pokemon.
Poochyena held her ground as the sentret seemed to finally give her attention. It seemed this guy wanted a fight and she had no problem doing that. Then she would talk about it later, probably making the rest of the team want to roll their eyes. How she had bravely saved an old lady and her garden from a dastardly pokemon. She wouldn't have to necessarily say that it was a sentret because that wouldn't be as cool.
<"Better than eating some little ole lady's plants."> she huffed at him and his attempt to seem like all that and a bag of poketreats. <"For someone who is so big and bad you sure don't know how to get your own food."> she snuffed at the pokemon because getting on it was definitely going to make the situation better. It wasn't like she didn't already know that a battle was going to happen so why not? The poochyena looked back at her trainer her paws set on the ground as she readied herself to take down this oversized thief.
"Poochyena let's give it another howl." it would be better to get up her attack first and then drive it home. Another howl came from the dark pokemon, this time it was the signal of a battle rather than a distraction. [googlefont=Karla]
