In the city of fools, I was careful and cool but they tore me apart like a hurricane.
WC 400 for numel egg, self updating
NOTES - Ember x3, using mod bar if defeated It would not take long for them to be on the route continuing to peddle on the bike that had been helping them so far. Raiden really enjoyed the feeling of the wind on his face as he went through the route though he knew the city was just beyond he wasn't quite ready to enter until he was finished training the current pokemon on his team. That would be something that would help make sure he was as ready as possible to continue on the journey that he had started. Raiden had been a bit of an overworker when it came to that kind of thing and it was strength that he needed if he did plan on rescuing his friends like he had promised. There is a small voice in the back of his head asking himself if he would ever be good enough if this entire situation would ever work out in his favor. Raiden wasn't sure and that perhaps was the scariest part of it all. What if he was never strong enough to go back home and save those that he had left behind? The thought gnawed at him and ate him up on the inside which only pushed him to work harder. To push himself until he couldn't anymore and there was no way he was going to give up so early not after he had worked so hard and they had worked so hard to free him. It is only on the road they are already going that a pidgey seems to have taken quite an interest in their little progression. Between Raiden's peddling and the poochyena beside him keeping up they probably did make quite the interesting party. However, as Raiden started to slow so too did the poochyena that had been running her tongue hanging from the side of her mouth from the level of activity she was doing. Maybe Raiden should slow up some, but she would tell him if it was bothering her right? Something to ponder for another time, instead he focused on the flying type and what it was doing, would it fly away when he got close? Only one way to tell. So he crept forward and the pokemon shivered but he was pretty sure that wasn't because of him. Cold huh, as terrible as it seemed he needed to train and if it wasn't going to fly away - the trainer sent out Charmander. There was definitely a way to warm it up and get more experience. "Charmander, let's do a few embers. Don't get carried away, we don't want to seriously injure the pokemon, but we do want to get some experience out of it." That was the best idea anyway. He had no intention of keeping the pokemon especially since he knew that Charmander would eventually become a flying type himself. No need to pick up pokemon that were unnecessary unless he had an idea for them, like that spinda he still had. ((using mod bar on charmander if defeated)) [googlefont=Karla]

In the city of fools, I was careful and cool but they tore me apart like a hurricane.
WC 400 for numel egg, self updating
NOTES - switching in mudkip The battle was something that Raiden hadn't really been trying to hurt the other pokemon but rather that he knew that they needed to train as much as possible before continuing to the next area. He only had one more pokemon that he had the intention of training higher. He still had weaker pokemon that he could hold onto and train up, but he didn't intend on keeping them in his party for very long. Instead, the trainer watched as Charmander began the fight with the flying pokemon. A few embers had definitely warmed the little guy up. In some ways, he was helping because the creature seemed to become more lively which managed to get a few solid hits on the Charmander.
"Keep it up Charmander, you're going to win this." he had complete faith especially since the fire type had a good fire move. Though Charmander did manage to take some damage from the winged creature ultimately he came out victorious and seemed much stronger from doing so. It had only taken one battle for the guy to look just about as strong as Poochyena which had been his goal from the very beginning. At least that way he could make sure that they were up to snuff as they moved on to the next city. Raiden didn't really see them staying here much longer.
"Good job Charmander, you deserve a rest." Raiden quickly brought the Pokemon back inside the Pokeball so he could rest as he deserved. His eyes instead drifted to the dog pokemon at his side. "One more to train and then we can move on. What do you say still feel like keeping up with me?" he asked. The small pokemon gave a few more playful yaps before seeming to take off ahead of Raiden. A small chuckle came from the trainer as he moved to once more pick his feet up off the ground and place them back on the peddles of the bike. It wouldn't take too much longer for him to have all his pokemon up to the same level and ready to continue out of the first town and away from this route.
Being able to spend this time with Poochyena and just enjoy life he had almost forgotten for a moment the reason he had come here in the first place. To have no responsibilities other than to train and take care of himself and his pokemon in a way was freeing more than he had before. He missed home, that would always be true, but somehow with the wind on his face and a playful poochyena running beside him felt like the childhood he never really got to have.

NOTES - treecko active, used leer, updated party removed nidoran and added swablu egg instead of numel Raiden found that ridding the bike felt like a different kind of freedom that he wasn't normally used to. It was really lucky that he had won it and had it a lot sooner than it seemed for others. He was sure he had gotten more than a few looks and questions from others who managed to see him peddling through the path that led to the next area. Speaking of the next area, it felt that he was really training a bit too much but that was how Raiden made sure he was ready for the next section. It was in that way that he planned on using Mudkip to help keep things on track.
Managing to catch sight of a small wurmple that was looking for food would be a good way to train the pokemon that he had that were lower in level. "Mudkip, keep an eye on our new members okay." he said with a nod of his head as the female wondered if this was a good idea. The new pokemon to their team were not really ready for battle if it was up to her. In the meantime, Poochyena gave a small yip that she would keep an eye on if Mudkip would not. Grabbing a new pokeball from his side it is Treecko that is released from the ball. The grass type crossed his little arms not amused at all at the situation that he was shown.
"If you don't get stronger other pokemon won't respect you." Raiden tried. The pokemon seemed less than willing to listen to that. A small sigh comes from the trainer as he reaches into his bag and grabs some treats offering one to poochyena and mudkip. "If you try your best I'll give you one too." he said shaking the bag. That got treecko's attention and he nodded before trying to get the little worm's attention even though it looked stronger than he did he really wanted that treat and he had backup right? It was probably faster but if it was foraging then maybe it wouldn't notice the pokemon moving up on it.
Sure that if he didn't do something he would hear the worst of it, so a Leer is sent in the direction of the pokemon hoping to lower its defenses as it waited to see what it would do.

In the city of fools, I was careful and cool but they tore me apart like a hurricane.
WC 304, added final 100 words to swablu (self update)
NOTES - treecko switched, sent out Poochyena, Swablu egg needs hatched Raiden was thankful that it didn't seem like the little worm wanted to attack Treecko right out of the shoot. Between the glare that it gave the pokemon, it seemed that it had not gone right out of its way to ram into the grass pokemon. However, instead white sting seemed to come out of its mouth and wrap around the grass Pokemon. Of course, he wanted nothing to do with the gross sticky substance and immediately began to complain about it and why he had to deal with something like this. He was not supposed to have to deal with something like this, not even for a treat that he was promised.
Seeing how quickly the pokemon was beginning to give up Raiden frowned some and looked to Poochyena at his side. "I'm not sure he can handle this alone. Do you mind switching in?" he asked. The small pokemon gave a small yip and jumped forward to protect the small grass type that was still too young. Seeing that he was no longer the one that was supposed to fight this little bug the Treecko moved back towards his trainer and began trying to get the stringy substance off him. Raiden moved to offer him the treat at the very least to keep his mind off the string shot that had wrapped him up completely. Thankfully it wouldn't take long for the trainer to move and start to peel off the substance that had wrapped around the pokemon.
"You know one day you'll be able to deal with this without being worried." he tried to console the grass type but the pokemon only seemed to huff and eat the treat provided. Well, that wasn't a complete dissmisal he hoped, one day he wouldn't have to bribe the pokemon to act.

<I just want to forage and eat. It's getting cold.> Whined the wurmple, watching the exchange and just hoping the human and his pokemon would go away. But no luck. With a long sigh, the wurmple coiled up on itself and watched for a while, only reacting when the pooch pokemon moved forward to take the treecko's place. <Go awaaaaaay.> It shot out more sticky webbing to gum up the pup's paws and make rushing it harder. Clearly this bug wasn't looking for a fight. In fact, it was being positively pacifist thus far, just covering its foes in string shots to slow them down. NOTES - Poochyena used Bitex3, using mod bar on treecko It wasn't like Raiden was trying to cause any problems for the wildlife, but he also knew that the longer he stayed here the more the pokemon would have issues. That was the fact of training - and he really didn't have much choice if he was going to be ready for the first gym. So the fact that the little wurmple didn't fight made him feel a bit bad. Even when Poochyena moved forward it only continued to shoot string at the paws of the small pooch.
<Sorry, it's not that I have anything against you.> the female pup barked back at the small wurm. <I'm sure you'll still have plenty of time before then. I'll try to make this as quick as possible.> she wasn't in the business of continuing something just to make it petty. Though she would gratefully talk the wurms ear off about all the best spots for food - wait did wurmples even have ears? She shook her head slightly distracted by the thought that had come. "Poochyena, let's try and get this over with, let's use bite!" he called. The sooner they got the new members of their team trained up the better.
Though his thoughts are distracted momentarily as he feels something move in his bag. The incubator he had recently received seemed to come alive with the egg that was inside. A soft glow formed before it all seemed to fade away and a new pokemon emerged from the egg. A soft feathered bird seemed to coo as it snuggled into the arms of her new trainer. It made Raiden feel like a dad, the thought was slightly weird considering he didn't want to be a dad quite yet at his age. It was heartwarming all the same, he was sure that things would work out in the end.

All just business. Just an exchange. The wurmple would get attacked and fainted, and the trainer pokemon would get experience. Such was the cycle for poor little weaklings like this wurmple who didn't like to battle or want to battle. As the pooch got in close to bite, it tried to resist. It really did. It thrashed its head in hopes of stinging and poisoning its foe. But alas, after a couple hard bites, the little wurmple fell limp and silent. Defeated in one easy swoop of tooth and claw. It didn't even really put up a fight. It just struggled fruitlessly against the odds—pitiful and so, so weak in the end.
Poochyena gained +1 LV and grew to LV 11
Treecko gained +2 LVs (Mod Bar) and grew to LV 3. Treecko learned leafage.
Would you like to throw a pokeball and catch the wurmple under new player protection rules?

NOTES - Treecko out, no to wurmple Truly it wasn't an intentional thing to hurt the wurmple but there was training that needed to be done and that was the only way to do so. It seemed that having the wurmple defeated was the best way to go about this. Only a few bites were what was needed to bring the little bug down. Truly perhaps after some time, it would be safe once again and it could finish its foraging and be ready for the winter. There wasn't much they could do about it now, except move on that is. With the wurmple defeated that meant that the group could be moved on at the very least. Which was exactly what they were going to do, though Poochyena did move to put the wurmple somewhere safer than it had been before.
Meanwhile, Raiden moved back to the bike and moved to pick up Treecko since he could not follow as easily. "Come on big guy let's keep going." he said as he placed the pokemon in one arm while the other moved back to the bike. "Poochyena come on we are heading off." they would be to the next place soon if they continued on this road they would end up in the next city. "We do want to fight and get more experience for the gym." he said as he began to peddle again looking for more pokemon or even a trainer to challenge since Treecko needed the levels anyway. With a small bark Poochyena caught back up to Raiden as they continued to peddle down the trail of Route 29 towards Cherrygrove City.

Pedaling onward, a Wurmple was swinging from the tree and nearly hit Raiden, but instead it landed on a bush with a soft rustle. The snow on it shook and revealed the skeleton of the bush. The Wurmple, however, was very much fine and it looked like it does this a lot.

NOTES - Treecko out, Pound x3 As peddling continued through the route Raiden knew that eventually he would have to move on to a different town, but he would spend his time wisely as he could. However, the temperature gave way to the cold that was setting in from the changing of the seasons. The heat he could take, now the cold, that was something completely different. When the first signs of snow falling came the trainer huffed and moved to pull out an extra layer of clothing to add to his already covered-up form. It didn't seem like a storm was coming in but that didn't mean that Raiden liked the snow - give him heat in a desert any day of the week and he would prefer that over this.
Eyes drift back to the poochyena that was still keeping up and there is momentary worry if she should be out in the weather. Yet she seemed happy enough as small little snaps of her jaw in the air catching snowflakes seemed to be her current flavor of the moment. Playful, it was nice to see his pokemon enjoy themselves, at least before things would get colder. Raiden would make sure to keep an eye out in case he needed to recall the small pup. It is in this moment of distraction that the wurmple made it's move and Raiden slammed on the breaks of his bike clutching treecko slightly in his arm to make sure he wouldn't go flying.
It wasn't only Raiden grumbling but the small grass type as well. <"What the heck was that for?"> the small grass pokemon huffed and puffed. <"You almost made us wreck."> it seemed the Treecko did not take well to the games that the wurmple was playing and even without his trainers goading it seemed to jump out of his arms and move to the wurmple more than ready to show him who was boss with a few good pounds to make it make sense in the head. Raiden watched the entire thing with a small grin on his face, really this treecko was going to be a feisty one wasn't he?

<Wreck? I was trying to go to a new branch and I fell off. I'm not very good.> The wurmple explained nonchalantly. <See, if I hold onto the very end of a branch where it's all springy, I can swing back and forth real far. And if I let go at the right time, I'll fly through the air and land on a new tree. But I missed. And fell. Into this bush. It's fine though. I can just climb up again.> The treecko littered the pesky wurmple in baps. The wurmple responded in kind. <Hey, what's that all about?!> The treecko also got covered in string. NOTES - using pokeball, using mod bar, exp share is on swablu <3 It seemed that the pounds had done their job but when the pokemon were so close in levels it did make this much harder to defeat, but it would just make leveling that much easier as well. Raiden knew that eventually, he would be able to move on and finally head to the next city to be able to really progress the journey here. He probably looked a little out of his mind to those who had already passed him. The good thing was that the man hardly cared about what others thought and he could mind his own business if they could mind theirs.
<"That kinda sucks."> Treecko responded when the wurmple admitted that they weren't good at this. It couldn't be like him who was good at whatever he did, obviously, that was why his trainer had summoned him, though it felt like a severe waste of time. <"Yea well you have fun with that, sounds boring to me."> Imagine having to climb back up over and over again, yea he'll pass. Though the grass type went about sending a message with his pounds tackles were only returned injuring him before slimy string covered almost all of his body. <"Ugh, you have no right to complain, I'm the one covered in this gross stuff."> he huffed back at the bug complaining.
Raiden knew that it was risky to keep going especially with Treecko slowed, so the best thing would be - the trainer grabbed a ball from his bag and went to toss it at the small bug. Though he doubted he would use it, he had been tasked with gathering a pokedex and this would just add to it. It would also give Treecko the experience and his newly hatched little swablu since she was still in his arms paying close attention to the battle in progress.
