Skye is a slight boy standing at five feet and four inches tall. Sporting a generally soft, approachable, and unassuming look. His build leans on the slender and frail side, reminiscent of the Nerdy Archetype, but with toning in the legs due to city-life requiring him to walk long distances. He has hazel eyes and flowing, ashy-brown hair that goes past the shoulders, but he favors wearing it tied back in a variety of styles in an attempt to be fashionable. His complexation is on the pale side, hinting at a lack of sun exposure. Hidden beneath his attire, there are distinguished patches of scars from an encounter in his youth and he takes great care to make sure they are never exposed.
He posses a heart-shaped head with a broad forehead, pointy chin and well, defined high cheek bones. The boy prefers to wear formal attire such as well-tailored suits, crisp button-down shirts, and polished dress shoes. Though this is not practical whilst researching in the field for long periods of time, so there are times he will opt to wear more comfortable and functional attire such as his favorite T-Shirt with cutesy Normal-Types such as Minccino. In either case, he will always carry his waterproof, black sling backpack decorated with myriads of colorful keychains and buttons. Adorning his face are prescription glasses that he struggles to see without.
Skye carries himself high to appear confident and sophisticated. This is reflected in a straight posture and purposeful gait. He attempts to strike a balance between professionalism and approachability.
Personality:
Skye is an inquisitive, adventurous, and exuberant individual. Since childhood his insatiable curiosity has been the driving force behind his actions and decisions. While he has learned to temper it over the years, he still has a tendency to ask numerous questions. He possess a deep-seated desire to understand the world around him, pondering the 'whys' and 'hows' of the world around him. In a world teeming with so many different, fascinating Pokémon makes the world feel like a buffet of knowledge. A feast he gladly takes part in every day.
He tends to approach situations in an analytic fashion and break it down in a way he can understand. His thirst for knowledge leads him to be more open-minded, with a willingness to try new things. However, he is not without struggles and grapples with his impatience, often leading him to make reckless choices befitting of his naïveté. Such as an encounter when he was younger that lead him to getting wounded, leaving lasting damage on his psyche that at one point made it almost impossible to want to go near Pokémon. Despite the years of therapy and support, his mind makes him remains cautious of Pokémon, even with the most sound of reasoning telling him otherwise. He finds comfort interacting with Pokémon who have a more gentle or harmless demeanor, as well as Pokémon he has familiarity with. Directly he's directly touching or handling them is usually only tolerated for short durations, as exposure therapy helped him get to this point. He remains cautious and struggles with the more aggressive and intimidating species, with Canine Pokémon being the crown fear. Despite these shortcomings, deep down he still appreciates life in all it's forms, but it still remains a struggle that can make him lock up, freeze, and even lose rationality in certain situations.
Skye's passions include an adoration for things that are cute and colorful with an penchant for collecting charming trinkets such as Plushies, Buttons, Keychains, and more. As well as Sciences in general, with specific fondness for Biology and Technology. The former which leads to his love of Pokémon Research as a whole, combined with the desire for exploration and survival techniques that he hopes will get a feel for his Father's footsteps, so he can understand the path he forged. Though he isn't as much interested in the battles themselves, he doesn't necessarily dislike the idea either.
At his core, Skye values kindness, compassion, and growth. He firmly believes in the power of science and that it's potential should be harnessed for the betterment of the world. He exudes confidence to attempt to appear dependable and put others at ease, but at times this bravado can be a 'Fake it till you make it' ethos, in truth he uses this to mask a lot of his fear and uncertainties that he feels. At times he can have a naïveté towards the world, believing it to be better than it actually is, which stems from his lack of experiences in the world beyond the confines of Saffron City. Overall, he genuinely the company of others and forming connections and he is eager to learn and understand their perspectives and experiences.
History:
Born as the youngest in a family of four in the bustling city of Saffron, Skye Meadows' life was deeply entrenched with the world of Pokémon from the start. His mother, a Pokémon doctor, and his father, a retired competitive trainer instilled a fascination of these creatures from an early age. As the runt of the family it always seemed like he had to prove himself among his ambitious siblings- Two sisters and a brother. This drive led him to become more daring and reckless in order to prove himself amongst them. Despite this, his innate curiosity has always driven him towards the understanding of why and how things work, often leading him to ask numerous questions, a lot of the time to the point of annoyance.
While the family dynamic was competitive, it was also filled with love and adventures. Family bonding included regular trips to Goldenrod City and various camping expeditions across Kanto and Johto, providing ample opportunities for Skye to absorb survival tricks and tips about Pokémon from his father, honing his appreciation for Pokémon and satisfying his insatiable curiosity about the world around him even if he didn't have as much interest in the Battles.
One fateful day during a camping trip with his family in the wilds of Johto, young Skye Meadows found himself face to face with a wild Houndour. Excitement brewed as he got closer to the fiery canine, looking at them with awe and amazement. Not able to recognize the warning signs and aggression, the Pokémon attacked him vicious with flame and bites, leaving him with considerable damage before his Father could rescue him. This experience was a painful reminder of realities of being in the Wilds without protection of your own. The traumatic experience instilled in him a deep-seated fear of Pokémon, forcing him to swear off any contact with them.
The next few weeks of recovery was spent in a Goldenrod City Hospital. In the aftermath of the attack, Skye's life took a different trajectory than he thought. He had become uncertain of any future in a Pokémon-related field, he focused on academics, excelling science as his favorite. As Skye grew up he would hold an odd number of jobs while he completed his schooling, and eventually he applied for Tech School with the intent of working for Silph Company. His family persuaded him to seek professional help along the way, assisting in his growth with various techniques that helped reshaped his perceptions and allowed growth. It was at this time Skye found solace and adoration from the lectures and even his poetry of Professor Oak hosted on Radio and Television. This rekindled his love for Pokémon, and even People. His zest for learning and life entirely. It took years before he could even comfortably handle the Pets in his household for short periods of time, even then it is a cautious relationship. Gradually he made progress in his mental recovery, eventually enough to make a decision to pursue a Journey of his own. One that would finally rid the remaining fears he felt for certain Pokémon. He wasn't going to make his mark on this world by playing victim. It is time for him to grab the reigns of life and live it to the fullest!
