What a hassle the past couple of days have been! First, Nada had to leave Vermillion City on foot with only a few supplies and little money as she walked all the way to Pallet Town for her first Pokemon. Then on her father's request, he wanted her to then go to New Bark Town to deliver some important CD with business data on it to a co-worker in the area. But on the way, she got lost around Mt. Silver, nearly killed by that Ursaring, and yesterday got the stuffing pecked out of her by a Taillow that had stolen her map. Less than a week into her journey and Nada had already gone through some pretty eventful situations. Was it likes this for all Pokemon trainers, or was she just "lucky"?
She didn't care about it right now. She finally made it into a safe and quaint little town and had finished the errand for her dad the night before. When on the phone, her parents couldn't believe everything that had happened to her already. They asked her to come home, but she refused and said she may as well keep going... mainly because she didn't want to take the chance of going by Mt. Silver again. She'd rather walk all the way to Olivine City and get a ship back home rather than walk by that place again!
"What to do..." Nada said to herself. She found a small town park surrounded by trees and bathed in the warm sunlight. It looked like the perfect place to relax and so she set down her sleeping bag and spread it out. Putting on a bikini top, a pair of shorts and sunglasses, she tries to collect her thoughts on what she should do next as she soaked in the sun's rays.
"Should I go for the gyms...? All these years I've wanted to be a trainer, but I'm not sure I'm cut out for it... they never covered the topic of an Ursaring attack in school... I might be fine if I just stayed on the main road, but..."
She was having some confidence issues now, obviously. She hadn't stopped before since there was no town ever since Mt. Silver until now. Given the moment, she now just wanted to flush out the frustrations a bit and debate to herself. Lying next to her was her bag, her coat, and a first-aid kit she bought previously to patch up all the peck marks she got from her new Taillow when they first met, Cheeky. Her Pokemon remain in their Pokeballs in her bag.

Tyler had returned to New Bark Town, with his Bulbasaur, Fushinoko, still following him very closely. Tyler really liked this Bulbasaur and thought the name sounded very powerful, despite it's meaning. The two hadn't gotten very far out of town before they decided to come back, but they just felt they needed to relax for a bit.
As they entered the town, Fushinoko noticed the small park. He hadn't really been out long enough to have seen it, but without much warning, the grass pokemon made a mad dash for the trees. When Tyler saw this, he immediately panicked. Fushinoko was given to him out of trust; there was no way he was going to let him run away.
Tyler ran after the Bulbasaur as fast as he could. Fushinoko seemed to find this funny. He turned his head back and seemed to mockingly cackle "Saur Bulbasaur!"
Tyler couldn't help but laugh himself. "Oh, you think that's funny, do you?"
Finally he caught up with Fushinoko only to find himself in the same area as a young girl who just happened to be tanning. He blushed and quickly looked away.
"Thanks, Fushinoko, you've just gotten me into trouble..." he scowled under his breath.

The warm air was a welcome embrace to the girl calmly striding through the park. Saphira the Charmander was perched on her shoulders, resting against her trainer's head. The lizard basked in the sunlight, eyes closed and a smile stretched across her face. Tanya smiled herself, patting her partner on the arm. She'd worked hard her first battle; she deserved a little break.
Which was why the pair were walking through the park. The journey to be a great trainer would be a long one, and time for breaks would be few. Eh, we've got all the time in the world! What's a little R&R? she thought to herself, giggling.
The cry of a Pokemon startled Saphira, whose brown eyes flew open, instantly alert. Her nose twitched, and she stretched her hearing out. "Char! Char!" Saphira cried, sliding off her trainer's shoulders and taking off.
Tanya's serene expression was marred only by the girl rolling her emerald eyes. Blowing out a sigh, she took off after her Charmander at a light jog. Saphira burst out of a clump of bushes near Tyler's Bulbasaur. The shock of seeing another Pokemon so soon startled the lizard into jamming her head into the ground, body quivering. The tall form of her trainer followed, eyes looking down at her Charmander. "Aw Saphira, it's just some people and a Bulbasaur... no need to hide," she said quietly, bending down to tug at her Charmander's shoulder.
Her eyes drifted from Tyler to Nada, and she smiled sheepishly. "Sorry to intrude on you two. Name's Tanya... and this here is Saphira." Tanya's voice was calm and smooth, not ruffled at all by meeting two strangers.

Nada heard the two people and their Pokemon approach. She sat up roughly when they both appear and lifted her sunglasses onto the top of her head. She also pulled up a leg and rested an arm on it. Well, she was in a public place, so how odd was it to see other people passing by?
"It's no intrusion at all, really." Nada smiled. She then looked over at Tyler and continued "Though you both stumbled on me at the same time. I think you got the impression that I know that guy, but I actually don't." Nada went back and turned her attention back to the both of them at the same time. "But my name is Nadia! But just call me Nada."
Nada glanced down at the two young Pokemon and noticed that there was a Bulbasaur and a Charmander respectively. They were both so young and so cute! Nada remembers when she could choose from those two as well from a few previous days. They were all so adorable that it was hard to pick! But she settled on the one that she could swim with well, thus being a cute little blue Squirtle. Nada then picks up her bag and hurries over to the two to greet them; as she did, she noticed that the boy blushed and looked away.
"You've never been to the beach before, have you?" She chuckled. "But what cute Pokemon you both have! I love them! What's their names? I've got a couple of Pokemon myself as well!"
Reaching into her bag, she pulled out two Pokeballs and cracked them right open. First and onto the grass right next to Nada was Leonardo, the small Squirtle. He was sitting on his rear end when he came out, but soon stand up when he noticed the other Pokemon there. He approached them quickly and with a smile. "Squirtle squirt squirt!" He said joyfully.
The second Pokemon that Nada released was Cheeky the Tailow, her newest partner to the team. He flew through the air in a unique little fashion that is found only in the species line. He chirped out many times as he swooped about before landing on a park bench that rested in the shade of a nearby tree. He looked at the group with a cocked head.
"This here is Leonardo, my Squirtle! And that over there is Cheeky!" Nada said, introducing her Pokemon.

Tyler couldn't help but blush at her first question towards him.
"No, I actually haven't," he admitted to her. When she asked about their pokemon's names, he smiled and sat down next to his Bulbasaur. "This is Fushinoko. He's kind of goofy, but usually he's okay. My name's Tyler, by the way."
Of course, Tyler was teasing his pokemon. He gently rubbed his Bulbasaur's head and looked at Nada's pokemon. He sort of felt embarassed. He was already behind one of the trainers that had left New Bark Town, and by the looks of the newest arrival, he was probably behind her too. Needless to say, he was curious about Tanya's pokemon as well.
"So, besides Saphira, what other pokemon do you have, Tanya?" he asked her.
"Bulba Bulba" Fushinoko added, seemingly excited.

She smiled at Nada and Tyler both, rather happy to be meeting fellow trainers, even if her Pokemon was being bashful. She gently continued tugging Saphira's shoulder, eventually coaxing her partner's head from the ground. The Charmander looked around, absentmindedly wiping dirt from her face.
Tanya flashed a reassuring grin at Saphira, who timidly smiled back and then looked at the other two trainers. "Saphira's not all I have on my team. Quite intuitive," she replied to Tyler. She pulled her bag from her shoulders and put it before her, reaching in and bringing out her only other Pokemon.
Tossing the ball into the air, it let out a beam of red light that materialized into a small pink Pokemon with two long green leaves resting in the middle of its back. "Pip?" Kalian asked, swaying in the warm breeze. "This is Kalian. Saphira and I met her a day or so ago." Kalian smiled and floated towards the Taillow resting on the bench, dancing in the breeze around the small bird.
Saphira, spurred by all the interactions, grinned at Fushinoko and Leonardo, fiery tail wagging. "Charrrmander!" she said, offering a small paw to Leonardo in greeting.

"Oh, I know what Pokemon that is!" Nada said, laying a finger on her cheek. "That is a... Hoppip! The cottonweed Pokemon! Right?" Nadia smiled. She always did enjoy showing her slightly brainy side when she had the chance, though she didn't go so far as to quote what the PokeDex would say about it. That there would be pushing it too far for her own tastes.
Leonardo wasn't sure of what to do with the paw offered to him by the Charmander. A handshake wasn't really nature to a Pokemon. Maybe it could be taught? Regardless, this wasn't a trick in Leonardo's book yet. But he still smiled and held up a hand/talon/paw/whatever above his head and gave out a bit of a cry. "Squirtle!" he called out again. He then turned around and ran back to where Nada was sunbathing earlier and looked back at the group. He then cried out again and waved his arms in the air, beconing for the other Pokemon to chase him and play! He certainly was a friendly Pokemon!
"Aww, isn't that cute?" Nada said, putting her hands behind her back and taking in that sweet little tone in her voice. "Our Pokemon seem to like each other already! Leonardo wants to play!" She then turns back to the others. "So what're your stories? New trainers, too? Where're you from? And just to give my answer right now, I'm from Vermilion City. I only got Leonardo here a few days ago and since we were on our way to New Bark for an errand anyway, we thought we may as well do the Johto League!"

As soon as the Squirtle seemed to want the other Pokemon to chase him, Fushinoko seemed very much ready to play. He positioned himself so that he would be able to make a mad dash toward Leonardo.
"Bulba...SAUR!" shouted the grass pokemon with a smile on his face as he sprinted towards Leonardo.
Tyler laughed. "Yeah, it sure is cute." As he heard Nada's story, his jaw dropped. "Really? You're from Vermillion City? What's it like over there? I hear they have an electric gym leader over there. Oh, uh yeah, I just started. I got Fushinoko just today, actually. He's quite the spitfire, but I think he'll grow out of that."
He stopped to watch as the pokemon began to play. He enjoyed it when pokemon seemed to really get along. He hoped they could be good friends and play nicely.

Tanya nodded at Nada's guess. "Yep, she's the newest. I'm gonna train her up a lot so she doesn't fall behind Saphira," the girl said casually, smiling as her Hoppip landed on the bench next to Nada's Taillow. Tanya sat herself right on the ground, watching Saphira interact with the others.
Leonardo and Fushinoko both took off, leaving Saphira to cry out in alarm and follow them, arms flailing. "Char! Chaaaar!" Don't leave me behind! The second she was close enough, the Charmander gently touched Leonardo's shoulder and took off again, looking behind herself to see if they knew what she wanted to do.
Her trainer then looked at Nada, giving her the brunt of her focus. "Ohh, Vermillion's quite far. Is Kanto as nice as people say it is?" she chimed in to Tyler's questions. Then she thought back to her own somewhat quaint beginnings. "I grew up in Blackthorn City. Not much to say about that other than eventually I wanted to start raising my own Pokemon. And explore all over the place like my dad did. A quick zip down and I was in New Bark, where Saphira and I became acquainted."
Tanya paused and shot a quick glance at her Charmander. Reassured she wasn't in any danger, or posing it, she looked back at the other two. "She's a little timid, but she's a fierce little battler when I need her to be." Finished, Tanya flashed a smile and drew her legs up under her chin and rested her head on top of them.

Nada reached into her bag as the two other trainers asked her a few questions about Vermilion City. She pulled from the main compartment her red and white dress shirt that she typically wears. She then just dropped the bag and and comfortably slipped into it, pulling it down over herself and the waistline around her hips. For a moment, she almost thought she put it on backwards, but she's fine.
"Vermilion is alright." She said, securing her shirt. "Modern day port city is all. Got a great pier district and a heck of a beach. And the gym leader? His name is Lt. Surge... he's tough, but I can't say from experience. I haven't got any of the badges yet."
She then looks off to the side to where their Pokemon are playing again. First the group of starters have got their own little game of tag going, playing very well with one another as they tagged one another back and forth without much other care in the world. Their giggles could be heard. And then to Cheeky and the Hoppip, Saphira. Cheeky seemed to be a little too absorbed in himself as he still sat on the part bench, cleaning beneath one of his wings.
"Actually, I haven't even been in a proper battle yet." She said, still looking at the Pokemon. "I've been on a wild goose chase with errands until now. Now I finally have my own free time to do what I want now that he stuff is done."

"I always heard Blackthorn was a really nice city," Tyler replied to Tanya as he watched Fushinoko run around with his new pokemon friends. He really seemed to be enjoying their company, which was great news to him.
Fushinoko was doing his best to not be tagged, but occasionally it happened, and it seemed that he couldn't really catch up with the others in a short amount of time. However, that never disheartened him. He was just happy to be playing with other pokemon.
Tyler listened to what Nada had to say. "Really? You don't have any badges? I'm always feeling like I'm at least two steps behind from everyone else."
He laughed slightly at his comment, but it was true. He always felt that others were much farther than he was in their pokemon careers.

Tanya listened to Nada describe Vermillion City and smiled to herself. One day... she'd go visit. Big dreams for small town girl. There was no need to fret over how Saphira was faring; the happy giggles of their Pokemon assured her that her timid partner was enjoying herself. Tanya rolled her shoulders, still looking at the other two to refrain from being impolite.
"Same here. I've yet to really battle another trainer. Too busy, I guess," she said lazily, eyes taking on the glaze of a daydreamer. A soft snort escaped her as Tyler commented on his being a bit behind. "Please. I'm sure you've done more than me."
Recalling what he said earlier, Tanya gave a wry smile. "Blackthorn's a little rough around the edges, what with all the Dragon types and the Den, but quiet and friendly." And with Clair being a popular attraction for traveling trainers, it was becoming less quiet than usual. Tanya frowned slightly. She liked peace and quiet.

"Meh, don't let things get to you, Ty." Nada said, giving a wave with her hand, a turn of her head, but a hardy smile. "A wise man once said that every expert was once a beginner. You may be behind someone, but then a day will come when somebody is behind you. And a law of nature that is always true is that things are at their hardest when you want to get something moving; it takes extra energy. But once it rolls, it becomes easier as you go. Just got to make sure you give it the right energy."
Nada then put a finger to her lip and held her right elbow in her hand as she looked up at the sky momentarily. These were the kinds of things her teacher would always used to say back in school. Not to mention her mother as well. And since Nada had always wanted to set a good example for her younger brother, she couldn't very well go home less than a week after her journey started, could she? What a hard time she would be given if she ran back and then had to work at some burger joint. And it possibly couldn't get much worse than that Ursaring attack, she thought. She better be someone who practices what she preaches.
"Tell you what." Nada spoke again, making eye contact with the other two. "We're all trainers, so let's do what trainers do as a warm up; a friendly battle! We can work this out! A team two-on-two match! Since Ty has only one Pokemon, that means if we battle, he'd be tagged with either me or you, Tanny! The person who fights alone uses two Pokemon while the two trainers teamed up use one each! The winner is decided by which team is left standing! Wanna try?"

Tyler frowned.
"I only have one Pokemon, and the only thing I've battled was a Caterpie. I'm pretty sure you're ahead of me," he replied to her.
Later, he found Nada's words to be fairly comforting and he really hoped that he would become a great trainer one day. When he listened to Nada's suggestion, he smiled and stood up.
"I'd love to have a battle," he chimed in. "Fushinoko and I haven't really battled anything lately, so it should be interesting."
Then he whistled to his Bulbasaur, hoping that it would come to him, but of course it didn't. Tyler sighed.
"Fushinoko, come on over here," he called out, keeping his voice calm.
"Bulba?" Fushinoko muttered. He then turned to the others and sighed. "Bulbasaur, Bulba Saur." I gotta go guys
The Bulbasaur bounded up to his trainer and turned to Nada and Tanya.
"I'm ready to battle when you are," Tyler said with a broader smile.

Tanya felt her green eyes slip away from the other two to gaze at the crisp blue skies, drifting clouds reflected within their depths. She nodded quietly at what the other girl was saying; it had a grain of truth in it. But her mind was almost as restless as Saphira's at times, and at the moment it was soaring in the skies with Arceus knows what flew up there.
At the mention of a battle, the girl's head snapped down lightning fast. Wisps of auburn hair floated around her like a halo, and there was a shimmering, burning light in her eyes. "Ooooh, a battle sounds great!" she agreed fervently, grinning more widely than she had before. Rising gracefully to her feet, Tanya whistled to Saphira and Kalian.
Saphira ran over, arms windmilling as if her balance was unsteady. Kalian lifted free from the bench and floated over lazily to her trainer's shoulder. "Okay Ty, how about you partner up with me? Since Nada issued this challenge, of course," she added, not wanting to come across as a bit bossy. Saphira already knew she'd be participating in the battle, and stood at the ready.
