Mushroom Bank is a dank stretch of forest; its undergrowth covered in a thick layer of decomposing leaves. Beside it runs a small creek and the humidity of the area makes the atmosphere ideal for fungi growth. One of few varieties of mushroom Pokémon can be found here. Occasionally, visitors will be able to find items hidden amongst the leaf litter. Limited to 1 per visitor*. *Must fully exit the forest

Storming in from Forest Shrine. After feeling as if he had been followed by a strange apparition, Joe paused for breath as he doubled over and panted heavily. They had made it to a new clearing, one that wasn't as ominously gloomy as the shrine before it but the feeling of crimson red eyes daggering into his back wasn't wearing off. " Okay, I really don't like this. Maybe the rumours of this forest being haunted are true. Still, this place seems hospitable enough... Just as long as you don't eat the 'shrooms." As he finished, his eyes wandered off to the valley of mushrooms that were dotted in the entire vicinity. " I'd love to stay and pick but I really don't like this creepy feelin'. Time to press on, eh guys? Got your breath back?" Charmeleon and Lupin nodded and were quick to get behind Joe as they followed. " Alright, there seems to be a bit of a meandering path over there and it seems to be going downhill... Guess we'll follow this. C'mon!" With a quickstep of his boots, the biker pressed on.

Ruefully entering from Evergreen Glade. As Joe clambered up the steep part of a hill out of the green hue of Evergreen Glade, his face went from something of jubilation at the prospect of leaving this forest to absolute disdain as a familiar sight of mushrooms as far as the eye could see greeted him. It appeared in his haste, Joe hadn't listened out to signs of the bustling metropolis and instead mistakenly went back on himself. " Well shoot. Looks like we must've taken a wrong turn or... We're just not on the right track at all." Scratching his now very stubbly face, he pondered on what to do. " Well, that death trap of a route goes down to that clearing of conifers and that way i'm gettin' creepy vibes from so this must be linked in with that forest shrine..." His eyes wandering around, he sighed as no other way appeared to him. He trudged forward and mumbled. " Great, got lost in that cave and now i'm gonna get lost in this damned forest. Me and directions." Rolling his eyes, the slight movement had actually given Joe a godsend. " Huh...?!" Hidden amongst a huge number of mushrooms and rocks was a dark pathway that Joe had yet to explore. " Well, that's sorted. Off we go." With that, he moved forward and clambered into this new hole.

Over the River & Through the Woods
(Highlight v) ---[Entering from Forest Shrine]---
A belly full of food and extra energy to boot, that lunch in front of the Forest Shrine was exactly what the team needed. Richie got over his grumpy mood and even had himself that nap he's been after, so he's back to his mischievous and spunky self again. The rest of the Pokemon also seemed to be just as enticed, save for the ever always Riolu. Even having herself a fine little lunch, Nadia enjoyed a simple grilled cheese mountain pie and a can of soup. Wasn't anything special, but it was still a good filler.
Wandering deeper into the woods, where a normal walking path was no longer visible, Cheeky led his trainer to a mountainous hill completely covered in red and white mushrooms! The instant she laid eyes on the number of mushrooms all about this hillside, she thought of one thing immediately.
So if that Sonic & Knuckles game was real, this is what Mushroom Hill Zone would look like... except a lot bigger.
She wasn't normally a gaming kind of girl, but she did love herself some Sonic the Hedgehog when she did play and Mushroom Hill just came to mind. Amazing how things from the past could come back and give you a nostalgic kick to the face at any given time.
Still, as cool as it may be here, there wasn't much to offer. This would be an ideal place to pluck some mushrooms and sell them to somebody who could use them for some primitive, yet potent, medicines, but Nadia didn't need the money. She had a steady income from her parents to help her out, the money she gets from winning battles, and even a Nugget she got from apprehending a Rocket grunt if she needs the extra cash. So mushroom picking? She'd leave that for somebody else who has the time and needs the money for it. For now, Nadia wanted to get to Goldenrod and on with her adventure.

Sandy Katayko The scars of your love... ------------------------------------------------ [Coming in from Forest Shrine]
“Talk about a lot of Mushrooms…” Sandy muttered as they entered the Mushroom bank. Darryl glanced around at all the different colored fungi that grew in the area as they walked passed them. Seeing one move, Darryl jumped, and Sandy nudged her up.
“Relax, it’s only a Paras.” She said, pointing to the small bug creature that scurried quickly passed them. Sandy chuckled as Darryl regained her wits and stood up.
“Come on scardy shrew, let’s keep going.” Darryl nodded and jumped after her, keeping close to the girl’s heels. She very much didn’t want to get jumped, Paras or not. Sandy looked down at her and rolled her eyes, even though they shown with amusement. Darryl hadn’t always been the fastest to react to anything, so she couldn’t help thinking that it was funny that she was so jumpy now.
Stopping, Sandy looked ahead, and she thought she could see conifer trees densely layered in the distance.
“Think we need to go there?” Darryl nodded and ran ahead of her, making Sandy laugh.
“Wait up!” she called gently, running through the field of Mushrooms in order to catch up to the young Shrew.
------------------------------------------------ They leave me breathless...

Incoming from Forest Shrine
"Mushrooms!"
Tanya grinned as she stopped at the top of the bank, looking down upon the scores of fungi that grew along it. For some reason this amused her greatly. Perhaps because it was a break from the endless green trees and dim lighting. Saphira crouched down, picking up a fairly vivid coloured mushroom and bringing it to her snout, sniffing it apprehensively.
As if sensing her partner's behaviour, Tanya turned to the side and frowned. "Put it down, Saph. It's never a good idea to eat something you don't know. For all we know, it could get you high as a kite or kill you instantly," the girl scolded her partner. Saphira growled lightly but tossed the fungus anyways, disappointed at being caught. They proceeded along the bank until the abundant 'shrooms began to lessen and dissipate, giving way to forest once more.

Returning from Conifer Crest
Back to the bank of colourful, plentiful mushrooms. Tanya carefully weaved her way around the abundant fungi, checking over her shoulder occasionally to make sure Saphira wasn't expressing interest in the 'shrooms again. But the Charmeleon was too busy with the Qualot Berries she had nabbed, eating them slowly and barely watching where she was going. Eh, whatever kept her from possibly going insane or tripping the hell out on a psychedelic fungus.

Escaping the eerie atmosphere that circled around the forest shrine, the fast walking Sharada and Bellatrix were soon about to stumble across something that the brunette completely adored. Tripping her way through a thick bush, her large, icy blue eyes caught glimpse of a marvelous display of orange toadstools and other fungi that were growing strong along the base of the tree trunk. "Aaahh! Look at those shrooms!" What was more, there seemed to be a whole field full of them, Bellatrix merely pointing ahead and grunting upon her trainers incompetence for not spotting them first.
"What a change of scenery! Eh, Bella'?" Smirking at the snout of her angry partner twitching at the delectable smell of the odd one or two, Sharada pointed a stern finger at her. "Now listen, although they look all nice it probably means that they are poisonous. If it's mushrooms you want, we can try you on some shop bought stuff but not these ones. Besides, why rip them out of the ground when they look just fine the way they are." Starting to walk on ahead with her more delicate foot steps, Bellatrix was left a little unsure of what to do. Although she didnt want to admit it, she didnt want to destroy anything with her large feet but the rate Sharada was moving on ahead, it seemed she had little choice.
Letting out a heavy breath, the Nidoqueen stuck her nose up in the air and began to stomp her way through the pretty fungi field. Sharada not even bothering to turn around to give her a good telling off as already, she could spot the rays of the sun trickling in on the next area.

Incoming from Forest Shrine
This time Saphira didn't try to sneak a mushroom while Tanya wasn't looking. The duo skirted around the multi-coloured fungi, trying not to trod on any lest there be some sort of disgusting issue that arose. Despite not plucking any, Saphira cast a look of longing at some brilliant pink shrooms clustered together, wondering if they tasted as sweet as they looked. But knowing her luck, they'd be poisonous. A rueful sigh escaped the Charmeleon as she hustled after Tanya, who'd overtaken her while she'd fantasized about the mushrooms.

Incoming from Forest ShrineI'm not sure if i've ever seen this many mushrooms. Capona mused, looking down at Simba. At least now the lion had his composure back, probably a bit of his pride as well. However, after his freak-out at the Forest Shrine, the team wasn't about to let the poor feline live anything down. However, Simba nodded as well. I certainly haven't. He murmured. Capona looked down at the photographer before swooping in and landing on his head lightly, making certain that her claws weren't harming him in any way. Although I did come from around this area. Just never made it this far into the forest before. Not this part, anyway. She admitted. Justin was getting tired now, but didn't want to sit and rest amongst the 'shrooms. I saw Wizard of Oz. Poppy field put 'em to sleep. Ain't gonna happen to me. he said. Simba, dont' eat anything. he warned. The lion rolled his eyes and looked back at his trainer. Do you honestly think I would? He mused, though Justin wouldn't understand. He might've snapped his camera out and taken a few photos, but so far it was completely uneventful. Apparently, the trainer wanted to spend the least amount of time in Ilex as possible. So, down the next path they went! Onward to Conifer Crest!

As if all that running hadn't been enough exercise for one day, both Sharada and Yojimbo looked a bit lost for breath as they plodded through the forest. But finally, any signs of thunder and lightning over head had vanished completely, it was actually quite scary how silent the area around them had become. Still hand in hand with her faithful otter, the two cautiously maneuvered over logs and climbed over rocks, all under Sharada's blue eyes settled on the adoring sight of mushrooms. They were everywhere. She of course knew not to eat them but as Yojimbo began licking at his lips, she clenched his hand tightly. "Yojimbo, make sure not to eat anything growing here. They could be poisonous and I'm relying on you to protect me. Dont worry, I have some bits of food you can be nibbling on but dont get too greedy and sneak in anything here, okay?" Despite his understanding nod, Sharada was a bit cautious of allowing Yojimbo walk around with her in this area. She trusted him and couldnt risk him being hurt by anything here.
Wading their way through the mounds of grass, Sharada eventually spotted a nice patch under a tree with no mushrooms growing at it's base. That was good, she didn't want to destroy any wildlife by plonking herself down somewhere wrongly. Sitting herself down, she used all her might to lift Yojimbo up and place him on her lap. Giving him a glance, she smiled sweetly, "Here, like I promised." Reaching into her bag, she pulled out a small container, holding some little edible snacks for Pokemon. It wasn't anything along the lines of fish but it would keep Yojimbo happy for a little while. Laughing quietly as he began to scoff the food down, her own eyes glanced around the area. Perhaps there was something willing to give her a little battle out here to keep her busy until the weather passed. Even a single Pokemon could do.

For the small variety of species that lived in the mushroom filled area of Ilex, it had meant that in order to survive in the area they had to adapt themselves quickly to living by either camouflaging themselves in to look like the mushrooms that had grown to become the name of the bank or they were forced to live elsewhere. One such creature was that of a Shroomish. A stumpy, rotund little thing it had grown very accustomed to planting itself down near a huge patch of mushrooms and blending itself in as one. Many a time had an unsuspecting trainer waltzed by thinking nothing more of it only to be assaulted by the various spores it concocted from its underbelly. They could be tricky little creatures but for the most part, they preferred to remain unnoticed. In this specific example, the Shroomish was trying its best to remain out of sight. The only problem that it found itself confronting was the fact that this trainer and her Pokemon were handling some of the most luscious smelling treats that the Shroomish had ever had the fortune to sniff. Feeling its mouth quiver and its body shake in temptation, it started to lose what little camouflage it had in the row of mushrooms it had bedded itself in. Still gulping them down without pause, Yojimbo's continued eating pushed the Shroomish over the edge. Stumping up high into the air, the Pokemon let out a tortured screech as it couldn't stand not being able to eat them anymore. Landing down with a bounce on some of the actual mushrooms, the Pokemon only just realised its bumbling mistake in the fact it had blown its cover. Thanks a lot Pokesnacks. Foiling Pokemon since the dawn of their creation. Encounter

Shroomish Name: Dimitri Gender: Male Level: 14 Moves: Absorb, Tackle, Leech Seed, Stun Spore Ability: Effect Spore Nature/Personality: Small and timid, Dimitri is easily intimidated by larger foes and will often ignore orders to first shake out a good helping of spores. He is incredibly shy even when not in battle, often rushing off and hiding under piles of deaf leaves. Thus needing to be teased out with little bits of Pokefood or swayed by words which build his confidence.
Ignoring Taunt for Chesire.
As the Greatball clicked as if locking the Shroomish inside, an excited expression soon crept across the brunette's face. She adored mushrooms and Pokemon from her native region always made her smile, the two bundled together just made her even more happy. Skipping forward, dodging the paths of Yojimbo and Cheshire, Sharada bent forward and lifted the Great Ball carefully from between the wild mushrooms, hoping none of them touched her skin. With it successfully in her grasp, she dusted it down and placed it in her pocket. "Great job Ches-es--HIRE!!" Turning, her joyful expression turned to that of worry as her grinning feline seemed to be intrigued with the sight of a certain fungus which grew up the side of a tree trunk. Licking his lips hungrily, the cat opened his grinning jaw, only to mew gruffly as a red light engulfed him and dragged him back inside his Pokeball.
Releasing a sigh of relief, Sharada glanced down, "Sorry Cheshire but eating anything here could be seriously bad for you. I'll treat you to some nice fish for your hard work." Blinking at the sudden commotion down by her feet, it appeared that the mere word of fish had excited Yojimbo. Waving the empty container of Pokefood up at her, the little otter still seemed peckish. Laughing at his eager attitude, she leant forward and gave him a good pat on the head. "Ooh dont worry, I'll be buying you a huge plate of fish too. You have done so much for me as of late, I should've done so earlier." His lips practically drooling, the otter pointed energetically down the path they had came from, wanting to rush back to the city has quickly as possible. Eagerly grabbing her stuff, Sharada chased after him, "Y-YOJIMBOOO! WAIT UP!"

Muru lifted a paw in disgust as she felt something squish under it. Must have been another Mushroom. By now, she and Sandy had stepped in a lot of them. It was just a good thing for whatever ate them around here, that there was a fair amount of them growing all over the place. Sandy and Muru hadn't really spoken to one another since they left Evergreen Range, most probably because despite Sandy's determination to get where she was going, the both of them were extremely tired.
Though, Muru knew when Sandy really wanted something, she wouldn't give up on it. The both of them would need to press on, Berry was just lucky that she and Muru were such good friends, that Muru wouldn't complain about carrying her on her back the whole time. She stopped at what seemed to be a fork in the path, and turned to look back at Sandy, who had chosen the left path. That was were she felt the strongest pull.
