Tanya watched the battle quietly, torn between anxiety and curiosity, wondering just what Assist would pull from its magic top hat. And lo and behold, it appeared to be a Leer attack; though the girl couldn't see Ever utilize it, the Surskit's reaction of shuddering and cowering back was enough to let her know. Thank Arceus it hadn't turned into something like Dragon Rage or Crunch, which would have likely taken the poor pond-skimmer out before it could blink.
Ever shook herself with a hiss, spraying water droplets everywhere. Damnable little pest, using something she feared and hated against her. The feline's claws sprang free and sank into the icy snow, making a pleasant crunching sound. Her head turned towards Tanya, emerald eyes glowing in the darkness in the unique way a cat's eyes did. She smiled at the Purrloin, guessing that the Dark type was hungry for retribution due to the ruination of her perfectly groomed coat.
Being rather young, there wasn't much that packed a huge punch in her arsenal, but with the Surskit's defense knocked down a level, an opportunity opened itself up to then. While Sand-Attack had its appeal, there'd be a perfectly good turn wasted when she could easily have Ever weaken the Bug type substantially for capture. "No way am I letting something so adorable get away on me!" the fiery-haired girl murmured under her breath.
Clearing her throat, Tanya raised her right arm and flicked her fingers towards the waiting Surskit. "Alright Ever, unleash those claws with a Scratch attack!" she commanded, reaching into her coat pocket with her other hand, resting it upon a spare Poké Ball. "Miyao!" Ever mewled, dashing nimbly over the snow and racing towards her target, leaping into the air to come down with her claws at the ready.

Surskit still didn’t like the fact that this Purrlion now seemed to be taunting it. Surskit danced around easily on its spindly legs again, trying to confuse Ever. Ever jumped back as another flurry of bubbles escaped the tiny pink-cheeked creature, and to her dimay, they all popped against her fur once again, leaving her wet and a bit pissed off. She sheathed and unsheathed her claws as her Emerald eyes followed the creature. “Surrrskkkittt!” Come onnnnn! It chanted, seeming to try and get a rise out of ever now. This worked as the lithe cat sprung forwards., her claws unsheathed and dangerous. Surskit barley even had time to move as the plum colored feline’s sharp little weapons raked right across its face. Reeling back, Surskit squealed out in pain and held one of its legs in front of its red, stinging face. “Surrrs…” That hurt… it muttered quietly, looking down at the ground. It didn’t want to experience that once again, but it had egged on the cat, which would no doubt drag the battle on. Honestly, it didn’t think things through sometimes… ________________________________________________________ VS.Wild Surskit |Level 12| Health: 71% (25/35HP)Status: Bubble Pop?;Defense (-1)! Before Ever reached her foe, it sprayed yet more bubbles towards her, causing her coat to become sticky and bedraggled. Tanya cringed visibly; for once she wished the rain had stuck around. Even though cats hated water, surely this one occasion would be reason enough to desire it in the form of a natural shower. But snow continued to dance merrily around them, sparkling despite the lack of moonlight to illuminate the clearing.
"Miyao, miyao, mi!" Ever spat distastefully, retreating swiftly towards her trainer, though not before shooting the Surskit a burning look that clearly said 'Drop dead'. Tanya smiled ruefully at the reaction, but said nothing. If she were in Ever's shoes, she was sure she'd be doing the same thing. The snowflakes melting in her fiery locks didn't bother her as much as they would the Purrloin though, but the bubbles she was getting assaulted with clearly were made of a special liquid.
And judging by the disdained look on Ever's haughty face, it wasn't coming out easily as she tried in vain to clean it from her beautiful fur. "Personal grooming can wait, little gato. Help me with this battle and I'll take you back to the Center for some TLC stat," Tanya promised the annoyed looking cat. Ever paused, her sickle-like tail twitching as she pondered the offer.
Finally she nodded, turning back towards the Surskit with her resentment towards it written plainly on her face. "Scratch one more time!" her trainer called out. Assist was still too risky at this point, and Surskit still looked like it had a bit of fight left in it. A devilish gleam entered Ever's eyes as the purple feline streaked forwards again, claws ready for some shredding action.

Ever shook her fur out as Tanya gave her next order. She really didn’t like this thing, mainly because it was always wetting her with that damn bubble! Though she had to be professional about this battle, since Tanya seemed set on catching the Surskit, she was going to show her she was just as serious about all this. “Surssskit!” Surskit called out, skidding forwards and bashing directly into Ever. Ever stumbled back as she had expected another bubble. Though this time Surskit had decided it would much rather use a Quick attack, and that was more convenient for both of them at that minute. Ever crouched down as she followed close after Surskit’s retreating form. Once Ever was close enough, she pounced onto the creature, slashing at the yellow area of its head quickly before darting back over to Tanya. Surskit wailed out in pain, the scratch giving it a headache. Boy, if it wasn’t tired then, it sure was now… this was probably a good time for Tanya to try her hand at capture, though Surskit was very determined not to let that happen. __________________________________________________________ VS.Wild Surskit |Level 12| Health: 42% (15/35HP)Status: Fast on my feet;Defense (-1)! Surskit's speedy attack was rather dazzling as snow was sprayed into the air from its thin legs slicing through the cold, fluffy layer that had settled nearly over the ice. Of course, seeing Ever take the hit wasn't nearly as charming, and Tanya resisted the urge to wince again, knowing that at least the cat had her Eviolite to help minimize the damage. She watched in silence as Ever returned fire and slashed at the pond-skater's head before nimbly retreating.
It looked more tired than before, and it seemed an opportune chance to make an attempt at capture. Though she'd have preferred Ever to get in at least one more attack, the risk of a critical hit or Ever going down seemed a little too high for her likes. "Stand down girl," Tanya said to the purple feline as she slunk back. Ever mewled and offered no protest, sitting by Tanya's feet and resuming her cleaning.
Saphira rasped curiously as Tanya withdrew a Great Ball instead of a regular Poké Ball, rolling it around her palm. The girl caught the sound and half-turned her face towards the dragon. "It looks as if it may put up a struggle, so I'd rather not take any chances and get this settled quickly," Tanya explained, lining up her arm with the blue Bug type. It was now or never for her capture.
"Miyao..." Ever purred disdainfully, wondering why the girl wanted to add such a pest to her roster. Though if it meant she didn't have to fight anymore and have her beautiful fur ruined further, whatever Tanya did was fine by her. Tanya whipped her arm forwards after a few seconds and let the Great Ball fly towards Surskit, hoping for a non-messy and successful capture.

As the ball soared over Ever’s head and hit the creature, the feline’s emerald gaze rested on the now falling Pokeball. As it dropped to the ground, she watched it shake and wiggle, her tail flicking as she watched the ball as the Surskit inside seemed in a continuous battle to get out. The fight for freedom continued on for a few minutes before the ball finally rolled to a stop. Ever stood and walked over to it, casually giving it a sniff before looking up at Tanya to confirm the capture of the other creature. She let her axe like tail swing casually from side to side as she sat beside the ball. Ever’s ears perked up as she heard the Pokedex Tanya owned go off, prompting her to fill out information about her new Surskit. _____________________________________________________ Capture~!

Tanya walked over to where Ever sat primly, watching her trainer with pleased green eyes, her tail swishing gently. "Yes Ever, you did good for your first battle," her trainer mused, crouching down and offering her hand out to the Purrloin. Ever grinned and smacked her paw into Tanya's palm before winding around the girl's legs and purring in contentment, despite her coat being sticky and messy. The girl chuckled before recalling the feline, knowing that putting her through further battling wouldn't be kind.
As she straightened up, Saphira growled to grab her attention, pointing at something high in a snow-laden tree that twinkled. "It's probably just a scrap of garbage Saphy," Tanya said dismissively, pulling another ball from her magical pockets, releasing a small Snorunt into the snow. Puma snickered as she watched Saphira trudge away from the tree, looking dejected. Freezing the fire-breathing lizard wouldn't be a smart idea, nor would it be wise to go after her new trainer either...
Puma's eyes alighted upon the tree and its sparkling object, and the small Ice-type felt rather drawn to it. Hurrying forwards across the snow, she threw herself against the trunk and backed up, hearing the branch above quiver from the impact. Tanya turned to see what had caused the noise and looked shocked at seeing Puma near the scene of the crime. "Puma, get away from there!" the girl ordered, green eyes narrowing as the Snorunt snickered at her before slamming into the tree again.
This time the branch gave way and sent a cascade of icy snow falling upon Puma's small body, burying her completely. Saphira groaned and stormed over, huffing once before spraying the pile with a few embers to melt it off. Puma emerged, unharmed, looking at a bright, cyan-coloured stone. The Snorunt reached a paw out to it and touched the sleek surface, which caused a bright light to radiate out and envelop her. Saphira backed away with a startled noise, watching, stricken along with Tanya, as Puma evolved before their very eyes.
A ghostly creature appeared following the light, with arms swooping down off the sides of its head. Its thin body reminded Tanya a bit of a kimono or dress, especially with the red obi adornment around the middle. "Froslass huh?" she murmured, walking over to Puma and looking her over. The spectre giggled before breathing out gently, freezing Tanya's left hand. "Haha, very funny wise girl," she said with bitter amusement, holding her hand out for Saphira to unfreeze. She handed over the Lucky Egg she reserved for training to Puma, who accepted it with a grin.
"Your turn. No more freezing me... go after the other Pokémon," the auburn-haired teen said dryly, walking back a little to give the newly-evolved Froslass some room to maneuver. The Ghost type swayed as she floated forwards, spinning lightly with a lilting laugh, wondering what would dare come forth to challenge her. As it was, something small and pink came floating by her, offering a perfect target. She opened her mouth and blasted out a Powder Snow attack at it, hoping to strike it down swiftly while it wasn't aware of her.

Hoppip had only been minding her own business. She was traveling through this neck of the Azalea woods/ Route 33, because for whatever reason, traveling intrigued her. Though the air was freezing, and the winter monts were never kind to anyone, she felt calm and happy. That was until of course, she was blasted in the side with a large amount of freezing, powdery snow. Hoppip, suddenly alarmed, looked around wildly, suddenly spotting Puma the Frosslass and Tanya. So they had done it had they? She turned to them weakly, trying to find a way to beat them, any weak point… but suddenly, she felt weak herself. Felling heavy, she was dipping lower to the ground with each passing second. “Hopp…” Hoppip faltered in the air for a moment before falling, weak and out of energy. A Skiploom floated down from a nearby tree and picked up its exhausted friend, glaring at Puma before floating upwards. ___________________________________________________________ Victory!~Oh...well then...Puma has knocked out Wild Hoppip (Level 11), grew to Level 14 (+1 thanks to her Lucky egg), and gained +1 Happiness! Tanya blinked as she watched Puma knock out the poor, innocent Hoppip as it naively floated by. That was ridiculously quick... cementing Puma's status as a powerhouse on her team. The ghost spun towards her and chuckled at her expression, floating over and ignoring the glare burnt into the back of her head from the Skiploom that appeared. Was there a conspiracy between Hoppip and Skiploom going on in this place? They seemed to always be near each other...
But enough of that. The fiery-haired girl nodded at Puma and recollected the egg. "Don't worry girl, you'll get some more training in. I just need to run back to Azalea for something," Tanya told the specter, recalling her before she could protest. She turned round on her heels and dashed back to town, entering the Center and making a beeline right to the PC, offering a greeting to the matron as she passed.
It was too much later that Tanya was back outside, the light snow having gotten heavier while she'd exchanged out a Pokémon. Annoying yes, though not enough to send her back home. She walked confidently out into the swirling mess with her head held high and her coat done up as high as it could do, scarf wrapped more snugly round her neck and her hat shoved down over her ears; Tanya was in this for the long run.
Stopping near where she'd been hanging out earlier, she released the Pokémon she'd placed in her team, a Ralts obtained from a good friend of hers. Aster landed in the snow, which had steadily piled up and was nearly at waist-level on his small body. The silent creature looked up at Tanya and nodded, punching the air to indicate he was ready to do some training. "Good! Don't hate me for making you fight in this mess, amigo," Tanya said lightly, tossing him the Lucky Egg. Something emerged from under a snow-laden bush, blue-purple in colour and looking cold.
Aster spotted it and pointed, still looking at his new trainer. "Yup, go for it. Start off with a Confusion attack then," the girl instructed, burying her hands into the pockets of her coat. The Ralts shuffled forwards, a light coloured orb appearing at the tip of his horn as he approached the unsuspecting rodent.

Unsuspecting at first, the female Nidoran had been rubbed the wrong way entirely by just how bitingly cold this weather had become. The Pokemon twitched around with its back to the pair and seemed to be examining the sky. Surely it was about time for a seasonal change from this dreary, soulless weather. Had the blueish rodent not been fuming from its rage at the weather, there was no doubt it would have been suffering from pneumonia or something similar considering it had just made its way through thick globs of snow that had invaded its group's burrow. Kicking a bit of the snow forward, it was only then that it caught a scent of something behind it. It would have noticed sooner but the weather had given it such a terrible cold it's nose was all bunged up and not as good as it used to be. Twitching its lengthy teeth together, the Pokemon's whiskers were twirling around as well as it shiftily poked its eyes from side to side, awaiting it to be just within striking distance. A few seconds later and without warning, the female rodent of the species put all her body weight on her forelegs and with a merciless kick from her hind, began beating into the sneaky little pest. The first kick was glancing and barely hit the target but with a better sense of where it was, the second was dabbed directly into Aster's gut. Stumbling backwards, the poor Psychic Pokemon seemed barely phased by it mentally but it had such a small body that it was hard not to be bowled over by it. Turning around to finally seeing its antagoniser, the Nidoran♀ noticed that it wasn't just any normal Pokemon found on this route but something different entirely. The fact that a teenage girl seemed to be commanding it a few feet away also didn't too well with it. It barely had any time to make a remark or expression however as Aster had got over the sheer blow of the kicks and concentrated its vast untapped psychic potential. At such a young age, these Pokemon were barely able to master their full psychic ability but this Aster seemed to have little problem in summoning a fair amount of power from its own. The Nidoran♀'s mind felt fuzzy all of a sudden and seemed to sway from side to side as Aster rubbed its forehead to increase the attacking power. All of a sudden, the Nidoran♀ slumped onto the floor and let out a confused sigh. Wild Battle

Whenever she got back to her cottage, Hunter was likely going to give her hell for being out in such wretched conditions for an extended period of time. Luckily she felt no phantom tickle in her throat, or the sense of feeling unwell - yet, but with the weather having taken a turn for the worse, wrapping up training soon sounded like a pristine idea. Her eyes followed Aster like a hawk, making sure he was alright; after all, having her new partner tossed around by a roguish beast wasn't going to cause him to like her very much.
He grunted when the little rodent surprised him by kicking him in rapid succession, right to his gut. The noise was one of the first he'd made, but the little humanoid creature still made no attempt at speech. It was an anomaly that he didn't even bother with telepathy, but not having him talk wasn't the worst thing. At least he listened to her, which had been one of her chief worries upon taking him in. Concern ran through her like ice water, but Aster recovered enough to blast the Nidoran♀ in return.
Aster's psychic abilities were sure to be helpful in the future, so training him wasn't too big a deal. There were lots of Pokémon the girl wanted to train, but there was so little time to work with. So pushing aside her guilt, she focused on the present and studied the Nidoran♀ carefully. It was definitely weaker than before, and perhaps capturing it would be nicer than having its mind scrambled repeatedly.
"Good job Aster! Wrangle up another Confusion attack, on the double!" Tanya called out, shivering as a gust of wind sent snow flying down the collar of her jacket and down her back. Bloody foul weather indeed; Aster seemed to take no heed of it, weirdly enough. Perhaps he was a bit stronger than herself and embraced the biting cold like it was a test of his character. Shuffling forwards again, the Ralts prepared another Confusion attack, warily keeping on eye on the rodent's movements.

The Nidoran ♀ didn't take long to get back up, she hadn't been totally confused by the attack so she still knew what her target was, though she was now, understandably, angry with her opponent, it wasn't full blown rage quite yet, but it was getting there. She knew that she wouldn't be able to think properly when that happened but she did nothing to stop it anyway, a hit due to that would be devastating to say the least if there was no other reason. She was still in pain from the previous attack, and worried about being on the receiving end of another attack like that, she had never fought a Psychic Pokemon before this; she was learning very quickly why she wished it would have remained that way. Of course, at the moment there was nothing she could do except fight this thing, and hopefully she'd end up winning so she could get back to her life. But this thing, and it's Trainer stood in the way of that for the moment. But for now it was her turn to attack the Trainer's Pokemon, as she charged it with her claws extended preparing for a Scratch attack, while Aster was just about ready to start on the next Confusion as ordered. But since the wild Pokemon was the faster of the two, he'd need to wait until after she'd made her move to take action. But knowing that didn't make him like it, he still needed to stand there and take the attack. But he hadn't thought of that long before the Nidoran had reached him, and lunged past him, swiping with her claws. Sadly, she had managed to hit him, and it had been a Critical Hit on top of that, it had just been enough to knock out the poor Psychic Pokemon, as he slumped to the ground where he had stood. The young Nidoran was very happy with herself as she ran back to a safe distance to wait and see what the Trainer did, she hoped the human would run away but was expecting her to stay. Despite his efforts, Aster was overpowered by the panicked Nidoran♀, who struck him down as he came in close for another mental assault. The Ralts stiffened before slumping over, prompting a shocked cry from his trainer. She hurried to his side and knelt in the snow, picking him up and cradling him in her arms. "Ah shit, I'm really sorry Aster," Tanya swore, feeling incredibly disappointed with herself. A new Pokémon in his first battle for her and he was knocked out... what a lousy trainer she was.
A gentle hand touched her cheek, and the girl looked down to see Aster's faint smile and a hint of his red eyes under the green helmet-like cap on his head. Well... it wasn't like she couldn't train him after this. Sighing ruefully, Tanya stood up and walked a few steps backwards. It sucked royally that what seemed like a simple battle had turned out like this, but it wasn't the end of the world.
Puma was released back into the snow, and the ghost swirled about happily, glad to be back in the cold. The snow seemed to cluster around her as she floated forwards, her ability of Snow Cloak revealing its usefulness. Tanya adjusted Aster in her arms and protected him from the worst of the elements, fully intending to train him again once this fight was over.
Raising one of her gloved hands, the auburn-haired teen pointed at the Nidoran♀ waiting a fair distance away. "Alright Puma, this little lady thinks she can make us run away with our tails between our legs. Try out your new Icy Wind attack on her instead!" Tanya called out. Puma chuckled and glided forwards noiselessly through the thick snow, arms spread wide. The crystals situated atop her head began to glow, and a blast of frigid air was blasted towards her quarry crouched on the ground.

The female Nidoran quivered nervously at the sight of the levitating Froslass, the mystical icy creature sending shivers down her spine for no apparent reason at first. She hoped really hoped Tanya would've just scooped up the little Ralts and ran for the hills to heal it at the Pokemon Center but instead, there was now something else it had to face. Wriggling it's feet about underneath the layer of snow which came up to her ankles, the Nidoran tried to get herself in the state of mind to attack, still not being able to put her claw on what was so strange about this 'Puma'.
Watching cautiously as the elegant Froslass began to move and twirl about in mid air gracefully, the sight of the snow which once sat neatly on the ground was now beginning to float in the air, cascading around the Froslass as if joining in with her dance, the already icy temperature dropping even further within seconds around each and every one of them. Now constantly shivering, the panicking Nidoran had truly wished not to have finished off the Ralts, his tiny psychic powers being much more welcoming then what was about to come.
Howling in a high pitch voice, Puma eventually spun with her arms stretched out towards the female Nidoran, all the swirling clumps of snow it had gathered being torn through the air by a sudden blast of ice cold wind. Receiving the attack head on, it seemed icicles were about hanging off her whiskers due to the sudden freezing attack, the season not helping at all, infact it surprised her that she was still able to move as soon as the wind passed. With a sharp shake of her short fur, the tiny Nidoran flickered off the particles of ice before carefully approaching to land her attack. Bouncing through the snow, the small female had to take a tiny leap right into the air though as she readied her claws to attack something terrifying happens - The Nidoran moved straight through Puma! Landing on the other side with a heavy thud, the horrified Nidoran finally realised what was so odd about Froslass... It was a g-ghost!

Watching Puma's eerie yet captivating dance was interesting. Her attack made Tanya shiver, thanks to the plummeting temperatures that preceded it. Aster was watching the battle, as quiet as ever, like he was taking in hints from the icy spirit. Puma looked utterly amused after letting loose on the small Nidoran♀ and causing icicles to form on the blue rodent's whiskers. It wasn't an entire freezing, but it was enough to have her content.
She giggled when it came charging at her. What could something so small possibly do to her? Her giggles turned into full-blown laughter as the Poison-type sailed right through her ethereal body, nearly doubling over at the sheer stupidity of the tactic. Tanya bit back a grin of amusement as the Nidoran♀ crashed into the thick snow a scant few feet in front of her. Clearly choosing Puma had been an smart move here.
Tanya lifted her green eyes to the ghost as she swung round, waiting patiently with a rather devilish expression. "Don't be hasty, amiga. I wasn't intending to capture it at first but I feel kinda bad putting it through this," she said with a light sigh, her breath puffing out in a light cloud. Shifting Aster again, the girl extracted another Poké Ball and moved back a few steps, the sound muffled by the deep snow that rose to just under the tops of her boots.
Ugh, what she wouldn't do for a nice cup of steaming cocoa right now... Resisting the urge to sigh again, Tanya looked down at the Nidoran♀ and lifted her arm. There was no need for a hard throw of the ball at it, so she gave it a light overhand toss and watched the red and white sphere soar through the blowing snow and arc down slowly towards her target.
