Being from Sinnoh himself, Alex wasn't surprised that the Burmy knew Protect. If only he remembered that, but it had been a while since he saw a Burmy as a kid. He muttered an "Oooh..." under his breath, realizing what just happened. After all, he moved to Johto when he was barely a teenager. His memory was bound to be a bit foggy. Now, he was trying to remember if Burmy even had an evolution, and what it becomes when it evolve.
He looked at the Burmy as he thought to himself. This Burmy was quite energetic and giving him an attitude! When it was stomping the ground, Alex had a feeling that this one would be a bit harder to raise than his more docile Pokemon. He was being deliberate on what to do with this Burmy, as he didn't want to knock it out and faint it.
"Hm... Lodd, use Astonish," Alex spoke after he decided what his next step would be. "This was for trying to scare me earlier, Burmy."

If the memories of Sinnoh and Burmy hadn't been entirely clear about its prowess, it was likely going to be a memory today that would last a lifetime over what exactly this Pokemon could get up to. It had already rejected one of Lodd's attacks. Surely a second one would be out of the question? As Alex observed the Burmy's springy and energetic attitude, it was almost as if it was cheekily pre-empting what would come next. For a Pokemon who was up against a far better trained Pokemon that it was, it was awfully laid back. Even with Alex's retaliation over the surprise scare, it just bobbled away there without so much a care in the world. As Lodd approached, its face covered by its hands, the Burmy appeared not the slightest worried. Hoping to have timed it right, the Lombre waited a few moments before revealing her face by dropping her hands and making out a startled cry of astonishment as if to catch the Pokemon scared and off guard. Amazingly the Burmy merely remained there, not the slightest bit affected. Annoying enough, it had conjured up another Protect in the nick of time and the move itself had steeled its nerves against any sort of shock peekabo that Lombre could muster. Bobbling up and down excitedly, the Burmy appeared to be running on burrowed luck but whether or not it knew of this was hard to say as it still seemed as cocky as ever with its body language. Sadly, this battle wasn't going anywhere fast. Wild Battle

Alex watched patiently as the Burmy used another Protect, which caused Lodd's move to fail again. His mind was beginning to wander, because he was trying to be careful in thinking of a strategy, but mostly he just wanted to make sure if the Burmy knew other moves. He told Lodd to use another Astonish before thinking deep in his thought.
He watched as the seemingly zoned out Lombre moving slowly toward the energetic Burmy, who was bobbing up and down on its spot. He wasn't nervous or anxious or worrying whether the next move would hit, but he was just a bit impatient because he wanted to get to the Poliwags. At the same time he was conflicted because he could see himself training a Burmy to full potential.

Burmy was feeling pretty encouraged after Protect had stopped two of Lodd's attacks in a row. The bug was feeling invincible as so far it had not taken any damage even if Lodd also still had full evergy as well. The bug thought for sure Protect would never fail and that the frustration of all of Lodd's attacks failing would lead Alex to surrender and be a good little slave. Burmy at least hoped that would happen as it was certainly not building monuments depicting it's greatness itself that was a slaves job. As Burmy looked at Lodd it hoped by avoiding another attack that Lodd would convince Alex to surrender. As Lodd slowly walked towards Burmy the bug tried to use protect again. Something went terribly wrong however as no blue sphere ever appeared around the bug. Lodd snuck up behind the bug as all of it's attention was focused on getting Protect to work. As much as Burmy tried however it was to no avail. By this time Lodd was standing right behind Burmy ready to strike. As the lilly pad Pokemon made her strike she smacked the back of Burmy's head with an Astonish attack scaring the poor thing half to death. Burmy had no idea what had just happened. As the bug turned around Lodd was standing there. Burmy was not feeling as confident as it first was. The bug would not give up however as it had a dream of world domination and it would not let Alex stand in it's way as unlikely as it was for Burmy to win this battle. Wild Pokemon Battle

OOC: eh.. i have like 7 great ball, using one, self deduct to 6
IC: When Lodd's Astonish finally hit, Alex returned from his zoning out, and put his mind back to the battle. He was conflicted once again, but this time, it was between if he should throw a ball at the Burmy, or weaken it once more. It would be risky to throw a ball as the Burmy seemed still energetic, and also risky because even the next Astonish has a very very small chance to be a critical, which would likely faint the Burmy.
Alex went through his bag, and counted how many Great Ball he has before making a decision. Okay, he had seven. But each great ball were a bit expensive, so if one missed, that would be maybe a few hundreds lost. Taking account into the cost of a Great Ball, this was a whole another risk he had to take.
Though he was also pushed by the fact that he would really want to catch a poliwag or two right now and move on. Having taking all of these together, he decided to just grab one and tossed a Great Ball. He didn't really tell Lodd to step aside, as he just "ran" for a few steps and tossed the ball. "Alright, Burmy, you're mine!" he yelled, talking mostly to himself that he wanted to catch a burmy and raise it to a Mothim eventually, and also get done with this battle.

With the yearning of still wanting to take over the region with it's other fellow Burmy still lingering in the back of it's mind, the wild Pokemon had it's watchful eye on Alex. It's constant protections had now been cut through by this ugly looking Lombre and because of it, the wild larvae had lost a little bit of it's confidence in winning this human over. Yet whilst it thought about a new way of trying to make Alex a slave, he on the other hand was too busy worrying about the amount of Great Balls he had and how much he would have to pay out if one failed! If the Burmy could read minds, it would've surely been angry at the condition of Alex's wallet being more important to him than the Burmy. Rustling it's leaves, the wild Pokemon had no other choice but to return back to protecting itself. Maybe one of it's stronger friends would pass by and lend a helping hand, to show this world of humans that the Burmy were a strong species to surrender to. Why, the previous city had a whole tower dedicated to Bellsprout, so the world surrendering would be an acceptable trade off.
Beginning to raise a protective barrier, it suddenly felt something crash against it's face, causing the bug to reel back somewhat. Before realising what had just hit it, the bug was drawn inside of a Great Ball and momentarily locked inside. That it what is deserved for day dreaming about world domination!
WIGGLE. WIGGLE. WIGGLE. . . . TING!
Congratulations!

OOC: boxing Burmy and making it Male but otherwise blank in other places Requesting Poliwag please, not self-updating the fishing level.
IC: Alex watched nervously at the ball as it absorbed the Burmy, as he was not wealthy enough to disregard the cost of a Great Ball. Normally he would be casual with the capturing Pokemon process, but this time, it was different as he had actually assessed the risk and cost of capturing this one Pokemon. When the DING notified him that it was a successful capture, he sighed a breath of relief. The trainer relaxed himself as he picked up the Great Ball, and then returned and thanked his Lombre for helping out counter-scaring the Burmy back.
He paused for a moment to recollect himself, and mumbled an "Oh, right, poliwag!" before returning to where he had placed his Old Rod. He watched patiently at the water, waiting for something to happen. In the mean time, he looked over his bag and carefully did a quick inventory check, making sure that he still have enough amount of the items he needed. He glanced through each item as quick as his hands reached inside the bag to reveal what were in there.
Then, he heard something tugging his Old Rod.

Dipping the line and hook into the waters surface, Alex left the Old Rod to settle into the depths of the jetty whilst he checked over his items. As a trainer, it did not matter how many Pokemon you found if you did not have the right items to use as back up. One of the most important parts of being a trainer was to know when to items such as Potions to heal team members or even throw a Pokeball when a Pokemon was weak enough to be captured. So constantly checking over the items in his inventory was a good sign to show that Alex knew what he was doing. With everything accounted for and happy within himself, it was now time to play the waiting game until a Pokemon either stupid, curious or brave enough were to come along. But sometimes it was difficult to work out which one of the three a Pokemon was.
Swimming between the pillars which held up the wooden walk way across the jetty was a lone Poliwag. Boredom was an everyday occurance for this particular creature as everyday was the same. The jetty held a very small variety of watery Pokemon and most of them just happened to be Magikarp. It was incredible that they could survive in the water, they were always stupid enough to get themselves captured but then thrown straight back in. Clearly, there were some brains above the shore. This Poliwag was different, in the sense that it allowed itself to be captured. A bit of a trickster, it enjoyed playing with humans by being hooked, pulled up and then attacking them with a burst of water. But the Poliwag wasn't exactly weak and if it felt adventurous, would often stay on the grassy plains to humiliate and defeat trainers. That was the plan for today. The water being eerily quiet, it had been a while since the Poliwag had seen a shiny, baited hook. Then slowly, one came and Poliwag had it's chance.
With a teasing nibble, it chomped down and as if already knowing, braced itself as it was pulled out of the water. As it reached the land, it made an agile flip and landed on the ground before Alex. Spitting out the hook, it looked directly at the trainer, wanting to show off it's strength in a battle.
A wild Poliwag (Level 11) has been hooked! (Fishing Level increased by 0.5 points. Updated.)Please select a Pokemon to use in battle.

The timing for the tugging on the Old Rod was perhaps too coincidental as he had just finished accounting his items like the second before. He hurriedly zipped up his bag and brisked toward the Rod. After he had pulled the rod up and out with all his strength, he found a rather eager Poliwag readied to battle.
Surveying the way the water Pokemon wagged its tail, Alex figured that this one was readied for a battle, and also that he probably had seen too many Poliwags already. Okay, one more Poliwag after this one.
Not wasting time as he was close to his goal so he could go to Union Cave, Alex tossed out a Pokeball without checking which of his team was in it. For once he forgets to check the Pokeball before tossing! Out from the Pokeball was a... Pansage. He realized he had called out Xy!
He stuttered really quick as he didn't want to be tickled, "Xy, use a Vine Whip on the Poliwag!"
OOC: Used Pansage and used Vine Whip.
If you want you can have the vines tickle the poliwag for a bit after whipping it

Ooc: I do not know how messed up Burmy's level last time around. I triple checked this time to make sure everything was correct. As Alex threw a random Pokeball Poliwag thought that the trainer was going to try and capture it without even trying to battle. The tadpole Pokemon started to freak out until it saw Xy come out of the Pokeball. Poliwag was rather relieved that it would at least have a chance to run earn it's freedom in a battle instead of a first turn capture but it did not help the feeling of despair as the tadpole was at a disadvantage in this battle. Not only was it at a disadvantage it also had never seen a Pansage before and Poliwag grew rather worried about what may happen in this battle against an unknown foe. Poliwag could guess based on Xy's appearance that the monkey would likely specialize in grass type moves which were strong against it so it knew it had to try something and fast before it lost this battle. The tadpole shot a small amount of water out of it's mouth towards Xy hitting him right in the face. Xy barely took notice of the attack as it did almost no damage. As Xy got ready to make his retaliatory strike Poliwag had a rather shocked look on it's face. It was at least hoping Water Gun would have done some kind of noticeable damage but Xy had barely broken a sweat and now the tadpole knew it would pay for failing so badly. Xy grew vines out of his back and they headed towards Poliwag. At first a few of the the vines wrapped around the tadpole to prevent it's escape before the others struck the tadpole's belly multiple times before it was released. As Poliwag was released it hit the ground breathing heavily and it's eyes looked exhausted. One more round like that would likely prove an end to this battle. Wild Pokemon Battle

OOC: using pokeball, self-updated I'm so behind on points ahaha. I'll catch up those later
IC: Alex watched the battle between the Poliwag and his Xylent, and he was unusually amused and satisfied. He watched as the Pansage effortlessly whipped the poor Poliwag, although he felt bad for capturing so many Poliwags, he didn't feel bad for lowering their stamina a bit before throwing a Pokeball. After all, that would be part of what every trainer does! He was okay that he sent Xylent out because this would expedite his remaining goal of capturing the Poliwags and move on.
He grinned like a madman, or temporary Poliwag enthusiast, and proceeded to grabbed an empty Pokeball from his bag. Then, he yelled "Xylent, watch out behind your back!" loudly, and threw the Pokeball as high as it could fly until gravity and its mechanism attracted itself on the Poliwag. It hit the Poliwag's head and began yet another "Rocking Ball" ritual.
And he stood and waited for the ball to confirm if he caught Poliwag or not.

Poliwag was pretty desperate as the next round was about to begin. The tadpole knew that it could not afford to take another hit. Poliwag could hardly move as it was so it knew this round would likely be the final one outside of a miracle. The small Pokemon stood looking at Alex as it prepared to face the music sure of itself that Alex would order the grass monkey to deal another blow. Poliwag did not think the trainer would have any interest in capturing it at all and it was ready to be defeated. The tadpole was totally stunned when Alex decided to capture it as Poliwag was still rather young and inexperienced. Poliwag was quite happy to hear that Alex wanted to capture it as it was a far better fate than getting whipped again. Poliwag stood by as the Pokeball flew towards it. It was hit right in the stomach by the ball before it disappeared in a flash. The Pokeball shook violently as Poliwag was not used to being in a Pokeall. It squirmed desperately trying to make itself comfortable inside the ball. After a brief moment Poliwag got comfortable and stopped squirming. The Pokeball stopped wiggling from side to side and it clicked shut as it laid on the ground. Inside the Pokeball Poliwag had started getting used to it's new home. It was not so bad considering it would have likely been attacked again if it busted out of the Pokeball. The young tadpole looked forward to getting to see the world as well since it had never left it's home before now. Xy has fought well and gained 2 levels. He is now level 16. He gained +1 happiness and has +1 overall. He is trying to learn Leech Seed but can only know 4 moves. Do you want him to forget a move to learn Leech Seed? Chryaisy gained 1 level thanks to her exp share and is now level 13. She is trying to learn Mega Drain but can only know 4 moves. Would you like her to forget a move and learn Mega Drain? OOC: boxing the Poliwag in Ethan's box Fishing Poliwag again, self-updated the 0.5 fishing level this time Petilil forget Absorb to learn Mega Drain Pansage forget Lick for Leech Seed Switching out Lombre for Venipede in box moving EXP share from Petilil to Venipede
IC: Alex wasn't paying too much attention as he tossed the Pokeball, but he thought he saw a glimpse of the Poliwag smiling, as if it was happy to be caught. Well, the Poliwg went from stunned to happy, and the facial expression was quite strange for the trainer to interpret that. He was going to think on this for a bit, but then stopped himself because he was catching this Poliwag for his housemate, Ethan, anyways. He waited impatiently until the Pokeball sounded the successful Ding. And when it did, he smiled quickly as he picked up the Pokeball.
Then, he tossed his Old Rod back into the water again, and waited for another Poliwag to spawn. He told himself that after this Poliwag, he would get out of this part of Violet City and move onto Union Cave. Whatever would be living or traveling in the Union Cave, it would be refresh his journey once again.

Line cast, afloat into the river before them, it didn't appear to illicit any immediate response from the denizens of the watery deep. Instead, Alex's line remained motionless as it floated in the blue surface in front of them. Seconds sped on into minutes, minutes marching onto hours. Nothing appeared the least bit interested. Which was odd given how easy it was to land the last Poliwag. Understandably the fishing rod being used wasn't the most impressive the world had ever seen but it had at least been reliable enough to snag some Pokemon in previous attempts. At this point with not so much a nibble at the hook, it was almost as if all the fish in the jetty had been caught and left the route a barren wasteland. Or had realised the false promise of a bit of bait on a hook and line. As it seemed all hope was lost for the encounter of a hooked Pokemon, the line began to shake about erratically as it seemed there was life yet in the river. Fighting against the rod itself, it wasn't long before it gave up and with an impressive tug, the Pokemon was snapped out of the water and lifted up into the air to reveal none other than... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... !!! Wahey! A Poliwag! Encounter

OOC: Pansage used Scratch
IC: Alex's patient was kind of thinning, but he struggled on, as he continued to wait for his Old Rod to bait for something. His mind was racing as he thought on upcoming gym battles and traveling through the Union Cave, wondering if it will be different from the Dark Cave that he had vantured before. His mind was also busied as he was thinking which of his grass or bug type Pokemon, or neither of the types, would he be using in the upcoming gym battles. Hm...
His thought was interrupted when his rod finally baited something. He quickly fished up the Pokemon to reveal itself as none other than another Poliwag. Yes! he thought to himself. Actually checking his Pokeball this time, he quickly tossed out a Pokemon into the fray. He needed something that hits kind of hard to knock out this Poliwag so he could pack his bag and walked through the Union Cave.
"Go, Xylent! Give the Poliwag a Scratch this time! We're not trying to faint it!" he grinned happily as he knew that he would be done with fishing for a while, after this Poliwag. Out from the Pokeball was a familiar Pansage, who had just defeated a Poliwag like minutes ago.
