With the attempt of two Pokeballs out of luck, now Alex was resorting to the expensive option of Great Ball. While the capture device was slightly harder for Pokemon to break out, it would still be a risky and expensive attempt. He made a note to himself that he probably should not capture anymore Onix after this one. With the Onix snoring loudly and still asleep, the trainer counted to himself mentally how his time would be running out before he would have to use another Sleep Powder again, and hopefully it would be an accurate one. If he had counted correctly, then the Onix would have been asleep for three turns already. One for being put to sleep, and two for the failed Pokeballs.
Watching his hand as he dug inside his bag for the Great Ball, Alex was placing all of his hope onto this blue Great Ball. He had never thought that catching a rock type would put a dent on his pocket. He wondered how those hiker class trainers capture one, could it be why they usually just have a Machop and a Geodude?
Taking a deep breath once again, Alex put his strength into the ball and tossed a capture device once again. Not that the power of the throw affects the success rate of capture, but that he just placed his hopes into the ball this time.

Desperate times called for desperate measures. This much was true as Alex looked down to the Greatball which he had now picked out from his selection of equipment. Marketed as a superior option to Pokeballs, they were no doubt a lot more effective in acquiring Pokemon with their improved capture rates. At this point it was definitely worth a try. Priming it ready for capture, the capsule device was fallen with some force, as if signifying the need to wrap this up as quickly as possible. Not only was the Onix eating into resources but it was very likely to wake up from its slumber. And with that, unleash its rage at being put to sleep for so long. Soaring through the cave, it wasn't long before it tabbed against the stone hide of the tunnel snake and amazingly decreased it in size until it was stored away inside the Greatball, ready to process capture. Falling to the floor, it began rocking back and forth. Once...
* *Imagine this is a Greatball ok?*BURST*Oh no! The Wild Onix broke free!Even with the apparent improved success rate of the Greatball, it would be for naught. Bursting out of the Greatball in quite astonishing time, the Onix once more filled up the current cave chamber that Alex was located in. Making an angry snore, the Pokemon's eyes seemed to blink as it woke up. Regaining its senses, the tunnel snake raised its body before letting out an enraged roar that caused the entire cave to quake with the incredible reverb caused by the thundering echo. Looking down at Alex and Chryaisy before it, the Onix remembered what it had been doing before it fell asleep. Letting out a short roar of disapproval, the Onix whipped around its tail and slammed it into the cavern wall. As it did, the sheer quake made some noisy developments up above. With incredible precision, the Onix had caused enough of a shake to cause one of the rocky stalagmites above to come crushing downwards and slam into Chrysaisy. It had fallen asleep before but now it was time to put on the hurt. Wild Pokemon Battle

With two Pokeballs and one Great Ball failing, Alex concluded that he simply didn't weaken the Onix food enough. Additionally, the once slumber Onix had wake up from the hypnotic Sleep Powder. He was a bit terrified of this one as its giant head stared down toward him and his Petilil. The giant rock snake then proceeded to use a Rock Throw, dealing some damage to the small sized grass type. Frustrated how this was going perhaps nowhere, Alex shouted at his Petilil, "Use Mega Drain!" There was no way this rock and ground type would survive after this ultra-effective choice of move. Not to mention, the grass type can recover some health from using the move. He kept his eyes open, making sure that the Onix would be fainted, before returning the grass type and continuing down the path of Union Cave.
The trainer with no knowledge of rock types continued on the path, he probably walked for a good few minute of silence until he stepped on some pointy rock underneath, which sent the ground trembling! Alex jumped backward and realized that he had stepped on a Pokemon! This time it was another Onix whose head-horn had been stepped on! Why did he had such a bad luck with those rocky Pokemon? Could he find something smaller to step on, like an Aron instead? Not that it would be a good thing to do, but at least the ground won't shake underneath him to reveal a towering Onix! Perhaps the Onix stopped digging halfway or barely started digging to the surface, and therefore it revealed its head-horn wide open in the cave? He wasn't sure how, but he was definitely sorry about stepping on the Pokemon. Panicking again, because he knew those Screech attack would send a ring to his ears if this Onix use the move again, he quickly grabbed his Azurill's Pokeball and tossed it into the field. Yelling as if he was on the last of his life, he shouted, "Zuroy! Use Charm again!" Alex was perhaps repeating the tactic that he had used on the previous Onix, but this time, at least he was prepared. He was thinking carefully during those few quiet minutes before accidentally step on an Onix's head. And this time, he would made sure to weaken the Onix low enough health and then capture the rock beast with his bare hands, just for once. OOC: 400 words! As Onix was felling pretty confident about escaping from so many capture attempts it was beginning to think it was invincible. The rocky snake thought Alex would give up on trying to capture it and go away but instead the snake began to feel weak as a green sphere surrounded it and began to suck it's energy. As the attack faded Onix feel to the ground knocked out from the ultra effective attack. Congratulations Onix was defeated.Zuroy grew 1 level from her participation and is now level 14. She gained +1 happiness and she has +2 happiness overall. Legigent grew 1 level thanks to his exp share and is now level 21. Chryaisy grew 2 levels and is now level 15. She also gained +1 happiness and she has +1 happiness overall. As Alex walked down the path after defeating the first Onix he accidentally stepped on another one which had been sleeping. Having been rudely awakened by the young trainer the Onix roared in a attempt to scare Alex off before realizing that Alex would not back down. As Onix watched the trainer it soon took notice of the small blue mouse Pokemon he had selected for the upcoming battle. Onix thought it was a bad joke at first until it heard Alex order the small Pokemon to attack. Onix was not about to be caught off guard the snake began to hum what sounded like an evil chant. As the chanting echoed throughout the cave Zuroy tried to stay calm. As soon as the evil sounding chant ended Zuroy looked at Onix with puppy dog eyes trying to lure the snake into a false sense of security. The trick worked as planned and Onix seemed a lot less angry than it had upon being woken up. As Zuroy stood in front of the rocky monster the snake seemed to smile as it looked it's opponent in the eye. Wild Pokemon Battle

Alex was slightly confused when the Onix grumbled, and muttered a chant. He wasn't exactly sure what move the Onix just used, but he knew that the Onix did something to improve itself, seeing how his Azurill didn't appear to be affected. He tiled his neck backward a little, and looked at the behemoth in the eyes. The rock snake looked much more intimidating, and perhaps even stronger, than the previous one. Judging by the expression radiating from the Onix's eyes, Alex knew that the rock snake was still upset.
"I'm sorry Onix!" he shouted, trying to apologize to the wild Pokemon hopelessly. "I am sorry for stepping on your horn accidentally!... If it helps, let's battle this out, okay? Maybe this will make you feel better?" He added a typical battling suggestion, wondering if Pokemon would respond to situations the same way a Pokemon trainer would do.
With that said, he realized that maybe telling his Zuroy to use Charm might be a bad idea. So instead, for this turn he decided to go for the offense. "Zuroy, use Bubble this time on the Onix! Just like last time!" he ordered and cheered his Pokemon, who seemed to be having trouble balancing on her tail, on a rocky ground.

Much stronger than the previous Onix they had faced, there was no doubt that this battle would be even more challenging than the last. Glaring down at both Pokemon and trainer, the large, rocky Pokemon focused angrily on the human. His apologetic words did little to calm the Onix down, only resulting in a roar as a reply. Living in the darkness of the cave, the Onix was able to camouflage itself in well with it's surroundings, meaning that it could usually keep out of sight of passing trainers. It had been unlucky this time, sleeping close to the path which had led Alex to accidentally walk all over it's horn. There was one thing the Onix did agree with and that was taking part in the invitation to battle. In order to relieve some pent up stress, it was more than willing to attack the small creature before it.
Already being caught off guard by the Azurill's charms, the Onix knew that it couldn't let itself be misled. The Pokemon belonged to this human and humans always meant bad news. In the cave, they were loud and obnoxious and always battling anything that moved even an inch. Well not today. The Onix was going to win and then find a nice little area deep inside the cave to rest without the possibility of being disturbed. Becoming angrier as it continued to think about how it's peace had been destroyed, the Onix unleashed it's rage. Flinging it's tail from left to right whilst roaring loudly, Zuroy hesitated and tried to dodge the falling rocks from the cave's ceiling, getting struck by the tail of the rampaging Onix in the process.
Being a graze, the brave Azurill managed to steady herself, climbing back up onto her ball like tail. Inhaling deeply, she took aim at a part of the unmissable Onix and fired off a stream of bubbles, striking the rock snake's body and causing it to growl out in pain.

Seeing that the Onix had taken his advise to stay in this battle to continue on the battle, Alex knew that his Pokemon would have to be able to handle this giant rock snake until he would weaken it enough to throw a Pokeball at it. The angered rock snake had a powerful and hardy tail that could shake the cave and sending loosely attached rocks falling onto the poor Azurill. How did the rock Pokemon managed to estimate the precise position would be an interesting thing to know, but that won't pique Alex's interest at all. He contracted his nostril and held his mouth shut to avoid breathing in the dusts as the rock settled. He grunted with his mouth shut to voice his dislike of this rock-falling attack.
With the attack ended, he was concerned for a bit that his baby Pokemon wouldn't be able to handle the opponent's attack. Instead, he found his Azurill readily back on her tail-ball, and using her adorable Bubble attack. Alex quickly exhaled and inhaled a few times to breathe in the non-dusty air.
Seeing how the exchange of attack went, the young trainer spoke loudly at the Azurill, ordering the next move, "That was a good Bubble Zuroy! Now go for another Bubble! Watch out for the falling rocks!" He cheered and warned about the Onix's attacks, after witnessing the facts.
The Azurill growled cutely while balancing on her tail, and then kept her gaze fixed on the Onix, wondering what the opponent would do, and when would be her best chance to fire the next Bubble.

Onix roared again as the rage started to built up, helped on the way by the tiny bubbles of water, which hurt so much more than they should. For the giant Onix Zuroy was nothing else than an annoying fly, but he stung like a wasp! The onix didn't really have any experience with water types as none lived in these caves and most trainers in this area had either rock or fire types, to light up when they traveled through the dark tunnels. It couldn't grasp why those small round things could hurt so much. Dust slowly stopped to rain down in top of it and it breathed in a glories gulp of dry dusty air and exhaled slowly, clearing most of the area of the dust. It fixed its eyes on first Alex, before it turned to Zuroy and its pupils grew small as its face distorted in another rage fit. It roared again and slammed its head up in the ceiling, making the whole area shake from the force of the impact, and dust raining down again, though no rocks fell this time. It tried to pull its head down again to throw it wildy around but realised its horn had got stuck and it was open for attacks. With a furious scream it flailed around hitting the tunnel sides with its tail as it unsuccessdully tried to get its head free again. It did succeed in occuyuing Zuroy thouhg as rocks were falling again and the azurill wouldn't have time to do much else than jump from side to side, to avoid getting crushed under some of the bigger boulders. Onix jerked its head downwards and managed to finally get it free. It had pulled out so strongly its head continued down and slammed into the tunnel floor just beside the azurill, sending him rolling over the ground purely by the air pressure. Zuroy rolled over the ground and even a little up the wall, which made him avoid a smaller rock, which landed just behind him. He rolled down the wall again and into said rock, which proved to be an excellent cover when Onix raised its head again and tried to locate the fly. As it roared again and turned its head away, Zuroy shot another series of bubbles straight at it unnoticed, and he covered behind the rock to avoid the tail which swept over the area while onix howled from pain and fury again. Increasingly with each roar, Alex was starting to notice that the Onix was building its anger. The roars were essentially louder if not meaner, in tone, each time. The giant rock snake seemed to dislike fighting him, or it was just a short-tempered Onix with a a lot of steam to blow. When it was raging again, dusts and rocks were falling from the ceiling, and the trainer was terified for his life that his body and bones would be crushed by the mere size of the rocks. He looked up and around in horror, hoping that the rocks would not fall on him, while catching a glimpse of Zuroy dodging here and there. When the attack was over, he was thankful that he wasn't dead or injured. This Union Cave would be a bad place for him to rest his corpse, or for anyone to retrieve his corpse.
Then, turning his head once again, he saw his Azurill using the super-effective Bubble, which sent the Onix in pain and in anger. Alex was amused by the sturdiness of the tough rock type Pokemon, who could withstand at least two of the Bubble attacks. Though he wasn't sure if the Onix would have enough health leftover if he would order his Azurill to use another Bubble, as he needed to spare some health to capture the rocky giant.
"Good job, Zuroy! Take a rest!" he took out a Pokeball and returned his baby Pokemon. Then, switching out, he tossed another Pokeball into the field to release a rather earthy-colored mammal. "Go, Duerks!" he shouted as the Pokeball hit the ground and opened up. A Sandshrew appeared and yawned, blinking his eyes for a bit before feeling awake.
"Duerks, use Swift on the Onix!" he ordered his ground-type, thinking of ways to slowly weaken this rocky giant even though he was terrified. He made a note to himself to never catch an Onix for someone again. The Sandshrew first turned around and waved at Alex with one hand, and then turned toward his foe and waved, also with one hand.
After the greeting, Sandshrew dug a small hole right in front of the Onix to anchored himself, and then began rolling on that spot as he prepared for the Swft attack. His rolling removed some dirt on the ground, and his momentum eventually built up as he rolled faster and faster.

The poor Onix had been subjected enough to this battle. By now, the rock snake could tell that this was being drug out for whatever reason (perhaps to capture it) and it only built up Onix's rage more. With each passing second, Onix could physically watch it's vision turn red and everything else block out but the enemy Pokemon and trainer. As if to add insult to injury, the Pokemon that could've taken the Onix down was switched out for something smaller! Angrily gnashing the rocks of it's body together, Onix let out a roar and slammed it's head against one of the sides of the cave, causing a few rocks to fall from the ceiling onto the newly-called Sandshrew.
However, this hadn't upset or bothered the runt, which only followed the command set by the trainer. As it dug it's hole, Onix watched angrily, vision slowly fading back to normal colors as it's rage settled - for now. Curious, at this point (but still angry, no doubt about that) as to what the Sandshrew was doing, Onix's speed wasn't going to be quick enough to attack first. The momentum of the spinning Sandshrew kicked up sparks and rocks that swiftly pelted into the Onix's side. Instead of feeling pain though, the Onix felt nothing. It's rock hard body was the ultimate defense, and this boy was testing it's patience. Curiosity sated, Onix roared once more and repeated the earlier gesture of slamming it's body into the wall, causing more rocks to tomb around the stationary Sandshrew. Narrowed eyes peered at Alex with intense hate. Wild Onix - Level |14| Health: 13/38 Current Status: ONIX RAGE WITH ROCKS (+1 att, -1 Spd, +1 Def)

At this point, Alex was trying to not pay attention to the Onix's ever-glaring face. He KNEW that the Onix was angry at him, and the fact that his opponent's anger wasn't changing at all meant that he should avoid looking at the rock Pokemon's face or else his heart would beat too fast and he pass out from sweating excessively and dehydration or something. Instead, he kept his eyes focused on the ceiling for falling rocks that might fall on him, or kept his focus on his Sandshrew, who was awaiting the next command.
"You did great, Duerks! Now use Swift again!" Alex gave his next order and gave his Pokemon some encouragement. Not that he could tell how much the Onix was being weakened, but he was sure that the Swift attack would help to weaken his foe. He watched as his Sandshrew rolled back at the same spot, and rolling faster and faster until the friction creates magical sparks that never misses the target.
Needless to say, he knew that normal type moves were weak against rock types, which means that he would be standing here for a bit worrying about the possibility of rocks falling on him, while slowly weaken the Onix with Swift. He asked himself if he would be able to weaken this opponent and capture it successfully, if at all.

Vs. Onix - - - - - - - - - - - - - Duerks extricated himself from the rocks with moderate difficulty under Onix's watchful eyes, the rock leviathan just waiting for another chance to vent some built up rage on this irksome trainer. Though it longed to attack, Onix was curious as to what the human was attempting to do by having his small Pokémon use such ineffective attacks on it. Before Duerks could react, the Rock-type lifted its head up high and let out an ominous sounding roar, the sound distorted as it echoed off the cave walls. The spiteful look it leveled towards Alex made its behaviour clear - it had been cursing him, likely.
It uttered a shorter, frustrated roar as Alex's Sandshrew rotated at high speed to launch yet more stars at it. Surely he knew by now that Onix were legendary for having nigh-impenetrable hides; what on earth would a bunch of piddly weak stars do to it? Even Duerks was mildly confused by all this, but he wasn't one to question orders. As the sparks and rocks flew at Onix once more, the great beast looked down at itself as the attack connected with several loud tinks.
Silence filled the cave for a few moments before the Onix let out what sounded oddly like a laugh. With the curse having dispelled the last of Charm's effects, the next turn would hopefully be a turning point in this tiresome fight.

With another turn of Duerk's Swift attack, and well, the Onix's ominous giant-snake chanting, Alex was beginning to question even more if he was weakening the Onix enough. He paused for a few seconds to think internally what to do, and the muttered to himself to clear out his thought before ordering his Sandshrew the next move, which would be likely another Swift again.
"We're almost there, Duerks! Hang in there and use a Swift again! You can handle the Onix's attack! Just one more turn of Swift or two and then you can take a break, okay?" Alex made his decision and ordered his ground type Pokemon to attack once more. Surely, for a grass-type trainer himself, if he wanted to faint an Onix, it shouldn't be an issue. But in contrast, weakening an Onix was actually a big trouble for him, as he basically equipped his team with a few grass types who could knock out that rock snake golem away.
He noticed some dust and sand settled on his clothes, and he quickly patted them away, as if he had been doing it on previous turn after each Rage or Rock-falling-death. He wondered if he as a trainer, was actually good at judging other types of Pokemon's wellness that weren't bug or grass or some normal types.

As Onix recovered from the pervious swift attack it was clear to the snake that this trainer was not trying to unleash his Pokemon full strength in this battle. Onix was beginning to think that Alex was either messing around or trying to go for a capture and the snake did not take very kindly to either option. Although Onix was quite tired from all the attacks it had been hit by it did not mean that this battle was over not even by a long shot and it wanted to make that very clear to the trainer. As Onix slammed it's tail against a wall in the cave a group of small rocks fell from the ceiling with one of them falling on Duerks's tail lowering his speed even more. Even though the attack slowed him down Duerks barely took any damage from the attack and quickly recovered in time to make a strike of his own. As he stood arms stretched out he took a deep breath before firing a series of small stars out of his mouth. The stars collided with Onix's rock hard body but even with the attack not being physical the damage was rather low. However that did not make Onix any happier. As Onix became desperate to avoid getting captured or mocked by the trainer it's options had nearly been exhausted however it was not about to give up. Letting out a loud roar the rocky Pokemon looked at Alex hoping the trainer would make a mistake this next round. Wild Pokemon Battle

Alex had been unusually patient and careful fighting with this Onix, since he did give up trying to catch the previous Onix mid-way, and ended it with a rather super effective grass type move. His mind was filled with anxiousness as many thoughts flooded his head, thoughts about how many Pokeball or Greatball would it take to catch this Onix, or doubt about if he had weakened this Onix enough yet, or thought about how long this Union Cave is until he reaches the next city. His heartbeat was also fueled by watching the battle, as he was cautious about the rocks falling from the cave. He wondered how many rocks could the Onix tremble to fall before this cave run of rocks to fall downwards, or if that would be even possible. Though he thought that sooner or later, the rocks would ran out and the Onix could open up another hole in the ceiling where sun rays shine on them.
When the rocks finished shaking from above, Alex was awake from his over-thinking trance, and shook his head in an attempt to clear his mind. Then, focusing back onto the battle, he was starting to notice how weakened the Onix was and how his Sandshrew was still in good shape. He impulsively grabbed a Pokemon and returned his Sandshrew, thanking his help once again.
Then, he switched into a different capture device and released his grass type Pokemon, shouting, "Go, Chryaisy! Go for a Sleep Powder!" He tossed the ball. Out from the Pokeball, another small Pokemon but in green-colored body appeared. The little Pokemon looked at the Onix naively until she realized that she had been ordered to make a move.
The maturing Petilil hopped for a bit, trying to get a good look of this Onix once again, and then stood still on the ground. Then, bobbing her head sideways a bit, the green Pokemon unleashed a cloud of blue powders toward the opponent, which if breathed in, could put the opponent into sleep. Though this move wasn't the most accurate as sometimes the opponent didn't inhale enough spores to fall asleep. Alex held his breath, trying to not breath in any residue spores that might have floated the other direction. In addition to that, he covered his mouth and nose with one hand, while the other hand wiped his palm sweat on his pants nervously.
