The young woman sighed as she walked out of the police station, looking a bit red in the eyes. ”Ye legendaries, that was unpleasant. I’m glad I can manage on so little sleep, ugh....” She stopped briefly at the corner to rub at her face with both hands, hair looking somehow a bit -more- unkempt than its usual shagginess, though no strands had escaped the massive ponytail trailing behind her head. ”SWEET GHOSTS OF POISON ITS HOT OUT!!!!” She shouted abruptly, then raised her umbrella again, spreading the mass of cloth into a bit of a shelter from the beating sunlight. Completely ignoring the stares she was getting from the few people out in the blistering heat, she grumbled as she walked to the pokemon center.
At least it’s not completely untenable for pokemon, I might be able to find more new friends today... She mused, cursing that she was stuck in her black clothes in this weather. She was already sweating like an abomasnow in the desert, and it didn’t look like things would get any better.
Sarai paused outside the pokemon center, allowing the doors to open before she started to step in.
Bare instants later, she staggered backwards out of the pokemon center, plastered with a sextet of excited little creatures. She waved her arms a little to regain her balance, then made her way back into the center with a bit of a rueful smile on her face. It’s nice to be missed, though...
A bit under an hour later, she re-emerged, clad more appropriately for the weather, adjusting one shoulder-strap of her long-skirted denim coverall. The shirt she wore, as far as anyone could tell with the coverall’s bib up, read ‘Slightly Witty’. The boots remained, though, although the band holding her hair into a ponytail was replaced with a broad green ribbon, bearing a bulb on the upper side very similar to that found on a bulbasaur, if much smaller.
Bilani was once more perched atop Sarai’s head, her left shoulder occupied by Zonde and her right by Cyclone. Perhaps amusingly, Bilani’s forelegs and head hung out of the large pocket on the coverall’s bib, her body and tail making strangely shaped lumps in the green denim as she looked around happily. Genevieve sat in a blue duffel slung over Sarai’s shoulder, the pink kitten’s head and tailpuff the only immediately visible parts of her, though the corner of a white scarf could be seen draped out of the unzipped top of the bag.
Close behind her, of course, Maloren padded along, careful to stay in the shade of her umbrella. No -way- was he wandering around loosely in this heat, he was going to take full advantage of the shade the short woman was providing.
Boots gritting slightly on the dirt path, Sarai resumed her long-interrupted wanderings about the town. ”Well, let’s see what and who we can find this time, hmm?”
”Ile!””Dgii!””Sin!””Mew!””Miao!””Pi!”

The sun beamed down on the small town, an extreme contrast to the day prior where the rain ceased to fall. The suns harsh rays were hot, not warm but hot, there would be no relief from the wind on this day either so all those in the suns way would be bathed in merciless heat. Floating through the town desperate to get out of the heat was a metal pokemon floating in the air. Humming as it went, people would stop and stare only to be zapped by energy from the irritated pokemon. The heat of the day was really starting to be annoying, the metal on the pokemon was really heating up and it was unpleasant for all, at least that was what this floating metal pokemon wanted to make sure of. That it was not the only one to suffer in this heat. The floating chrome metal ball, with a single eye and a bolt on top with magnets on each side. Propelling it's self with a hum as it floated about waist high off the ground the magnetic metal sphere was zapping everyone who got in front of it with a painful jolt. The heat was certainly making most caught within it's grasp miserable and the Magnemite was certainly making it worse. As it floated along it saw a large umbrella and it bothered the metal pokemon, it wasn't fair that humans had hands to have shade from these sort of things! without even thinking about it a blast of electricity that shot forward and hit the umbrella at the top and a current would run down the handle, just enough to give all connected to the umbrella a shock. (of electricity and surprise) Normally Magnemite wouldn't have been so...mean but it was really hot and it's metal body wasn't faring so well.. level 9 has Zapped Sarai!

sarai smythe ”Bleh.” Sarai bleh’d, trooping along down the street. Why did it have to get so hot here? She’d have much rather been in a more temperate area- or maybe a colder one altogether. She’d probably feel a lot better up in the mountains in the Northeast of the Johto region, come to think. She patted Bilani on the head with her left hand as she wandered and thought, looking at the storefronts and other buildings in the area. Despite the baking weather, Cherrygrove was actually rather ZARCH”Bwah! What the....” Sarai exclaimed, jumping slightly as an electrical current suddenly flowed through her and her umbrella. Most of the pokemon with her jumped as well, though Maloren did more of an about-face, on the ground as he was. Zonde also wasn’t affected quite the same, more startled and less hurt than the others riding about on the purplette. Bilani also seemed more annoyed than anything else, and began wriggling in the bib pocket of the trainer’s coveralls. ”Ile ile! Iiiiiiile ile!”Alright, who’s the smartypants? I wanna put a foul taste in their mouth! Sarai quickly scooped Bilani from her pocket to get the reptile’s squirming away from such an uncomfortable place. The black-and-tan creature veritably flowed out of her grip onto the ground. Sarai blinked owlishly at the magnemite that hovered before her now, frowning. Well, she thought it was frowning. -Could- magnemite frown? It only had a single eye for a facial feature, she supposed that the position of its eyelid could mean it was just really drowsy, but still... Bilani stumped forwards despite the chiding coming from atop Sarai’s head, the furret as put out as anyone else and struggling to pat down her fur as it tried to stand on end. Genevieve was nowhere to be seen, though the shifting of the duffel bag’s fabric probably indicated a frenzied self-cleaning attempt. Static frizz could be an absolute monster for highly fluffy creatures, Sarai noted, watching as Bilani took the heat in stride. ”....right, doi! Sandile live in deserts, this is nothing for her.” Sarai berated herself, smacking the heel of her right hand into her forehead. Keeping the umbrella carefully up with her left hand, she pointed with her right. ”Bilani, I think this one’s going to open with you- just how you like, right? Let’s start with a sand attack, make it a bit harder for that magnemite to do that again.””Iiiiiiile ile! Ile ile guaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh....”That sounds delicious! Get ready, pole-arms..... The little crocodile warned the magnemite, then held her mouth slightly open as she built up a mass of sand, dust and grit between her jaws, preparing to cough it out in the magnemite’s direction to hinder its sight.

The annoyed Magnemite looked at it's foe with nothing but annoyance, the strange pokemon was unlike anything it had ever seen before and it was clearly immune to the heat for the most part. Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaag it spoke in an eerie metallic hum that originated from it's core, as energy built up within it's self charging with power. MmmmmmmHMMMM!! it sounded off in an echoing blast as bright energy flew forward and struck Bilani as she was enveloped in a blinding flash of light for a critical blow! Or so it had seemed at first. However when the bright light faded Bilani was seen just laying there un scathed by the powerful energy, her tail was on the ground effectively grounding her out rendering electricity noneffective! Bilani countered with a hefty cough spitting out a cloud of sand that flew into Magnemite's face getting into it's singular eye. Blurring it's vision slightly Magnemite groaned loudly and shook side to side trying to clear the dirt from it's face! not having hand's really sucked sometimes. Magnemites accuracy had lowered and it's electrical attacks were useless against this foe, what a horrible day. All the while the sun beamed down on them all, Magnemite's metal body grew hotter and it's frustration grew as it cursed the sun. It wasn't beaten yet though not by a long shot, it's main attack may not be usable but there were still options. These were it's thoughts as it hovered in the air, fighting hard to keep it's single eye open Magnemite floated there for a moment. Wild Pokemon Battle ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

sarai smythe ”Guoh iiiiiile.” Sand in your eye. Bilani chortled in amusement at the magnemite. It was a bit unusual for an electric type like a magnemite to miss something important like Bilani’s ability to ground herself. She could only figure that this magnemite was young enough to be inexperienced- better for her. The little brown crocodile grinned as she shifted her stance a little, now sitting at an angle to the floating magnetic ball. Sarai smiled as well- this was a good start to the first battle of the day. She briefly considered changing things up, but she had her strategy worked out and she was going to stick with it. ”Alright, Bilani, good going!” The trainer cheered, and reached up over her head. ”Sinsin sin?”Eh? What’s going on? The sentret asked as Sarai lifted the furry critter off her head and hugged it to her one-armed. The umbrella remained carefully in place overhead as Zonde and Cyclone gave Sarai curious looks. ”No, it’s alright. I’m just getting ready early.”The indigo-haired woman smirked a little. ”Bilani, keep it up with another sand attack- let’s not risk this getting out of hand, we want that magnemite well and disabled.””Ile iiiile...”Well, it’s kind of pasty but... winning is delicious! Bilani affirmed, coiling her legs to sweep up a cloud of additional sand and dust which she could fling into the magnemite’s eye with her tail.

Magnemite watch as Bilani began to pick up sand in her mouth again, and though it's vision was blurred it was still quite capable of landing a hit! Sizing up it's foe Magnemite moved as quickly as it could and lunged forward throwing it's metal body forward with all of it's might. Magnemite struck Bilani hard on the head and bounced with a loud thud off of her and into the air again.
Magnemite was back on to Bilani and it spun around quickly with it's eye to her. It bugged Magnemite that she was able to avoid the blistering heat, that was making the metal pokemons day horrible. Once it was done battling this trainer Magnemite planned to give her a zap again for challenging it, the rest of the pokemon she had were native to the area and it allowed the floating metal sphere to be confident.
Meanwhile Bilani had gathered a large mouthful of dry sand and she peered up at Magnemite and while it had been lost in it's own thought, she huffed out a cloud of sand. Bilani savored the delicious feeling she got when Magnemite huffed and spun around triyng to clean out it's eye that had more sand in it, the poor pokemons vision was blurring worse. Effectively lowering it's accuracy.
This was only making Magnemite more infuriated now, as it was blinded more and more by this little Sand...spitting... thing! that clearly didn't belong in this area! a lousy day was just growing worse and worse.. Wild Pokemon Battle ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

sarai smythe Sarai’s smile broadened as Bilani took the hit and belched more sand into the magnemite’s face anyways. ”Good! Good work so far, Bilani, on to phase two- get in its....” She trailed off here, peering at the metal pokemon. Turning her head, she inquired of Zonde. ”Does a magnemite even have a face?””P’chu pi pi?”How would I know? The tiny mouse gave Sarai a bit of a blank look, then they both turned their attention to the pidgey on her other shoulder. ”Dgoo?”What? Cyclone inquired, head cocked to the side. The indigo-haired trainer was about to repeat the question when Maloren tugged on the skirt of her coverall garment, getting her attention. ”Niao miao mrau.”Keep your head in the fight. The meowth said, turning and waving at Bilani with a paw. To be honest, he was really curious as well- not only was it a good question, but magnemite were -really- shiny when polished and..... And the screws were shiny and........ Blinking as Maloren got lost in staring at the electrically charged magnet, Sarai refocused on what was going on. ”Where was I? Oh, right. Get up in its eye and give it a frightening leer!” She declared, pointing dramatically. ”Get -all- up in its grill!”Elinia buried her face in her paws. ”Sin riiiiit sin...”What a goofball....

Overhearing the trainer and her pokemon's conversation Magnemite it's self wondered if it had a face. There was it's eye, but no mouth or ears, how did it even hear? Sounds just sort of appeared, maybe it's Magnets picked up vibra- wait! it's thoughts were cut off as it realized they must be trying to trick it into lowering it's guard and getting distracted!
Magnemite though still blind it could make out blurred shapes of everything, it focused on where it thought Bilani was, the little blur or maybe a blob of color, she blended into the ground around her quite well. However Magnemite still had a basic idea of where she was, and with a deep (breath?) moment of concentration it flung it's self forward striking hard and bouncing with a metallic thud into the air. Magnemite had barely managed to hit Bilani with tackle!
Bilani didn't think that was tasty at all, as the little Sandile leered at the floating metal sphere that was certainly no good to eat. She leered with contempt that filled her top to bottom, and almost made a perceptible ray of energy, that gave Magnemite chills down it's spine...thing. It shivered a cold shiver that lowered it's defense! and yet didn't at all allievate the blistering heat that Magnemite suffered. Bilani shuffled around beneath the steel type, waiting for the next order from Sarai.
Magnemite followed Bilani as well as it could with it's failing vision and lowered defense, but it was starting to lose track of her. This was evident to, by the way Magnemite was looking around despite Bilani being quite in front of it.

sarai smythe Sarai smiled as she watched the magnemite turn, trying to keep track of something that wasn’t even moving that much. ”Good, Bilani! Very good. She enthused. Things were simple right now, but she knew exactly what she was doing. Bilani wouldn’t take more than a couple more hits to knock out, but she should only need to stick around the fight a bit longer. Her presence, if Sarai could be pardoned for saying so, would take some of the heat off of Elinia. Speaking of whom, she stroked the fuzzy pokemon’s fur gently with her fingers, leaning her head down and forwards. ”Almost ready, Elinia. I hope you can work with Bilani as well as you do with Maloren.””Sin sin?”Say what? The fluffy-tailed pokemon’s ears perked as Sarai spoke to her, blinking a few times. That would explain why Sarai had removed the sentret from her head. So, this was to make things easier on her? Well... she did kind of need it, that magnemite looked pretty tough, but it would be harder for it to deal with her if it was blinded and confounded by Bilani’s sand and faces. ”Sin sin riiit sin riiiiiiiiit?”Is that what you’ve been doing this whole time? She asked, turning her head to look up at the trainer’s blue-gray eyes. ”That’s right, I’m trying to make sure you don’t get hurt badly is all. Bilani!” Sarai called, turning her attention to the crocodile in front of her. ”Keep it up! Leer at it again to unsettle it further!”Bilani’s mouth hung open slightly in a silent laugh as she watched the magnemite above her try to figure out where she’d gone to. The metal thing wasn’t the least delicious, much too hard for her young teeth and jaws, but this game was quite tasty when she wasn’t getting hit, and the way it was spinning around confusedly was certainly fun. ”Ile iiiile...”I’m not over theeeere.... she taunted the beleaguered orb pokemon, preparing her best disdainful expression.

Flustered and annoyed Magnemite peered around listening for Bilani, as she taunted and teased the metallic sphere. Goading it into attacking her, it searched with the best of it's ability, the mass of blurred shapes all around it made it nearly impossible to differentiate. However it could tell vauge shapes it was still rather able to see but the failing vision was very frustrating to the Magnemite. Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa it sounded out, telling Bilani she wouldn't last a minute in a fair fight.
Lunging forward towards where Magnemite figured Bilani was it lurched forward picking up speed and moving quickly through the air. Right towards a large rock, luckily for Magnemite it caught it's self in the air and managed to come to a halt only a centimeter away from the rock, giving a metallic sigh of relief Magnemite turned to look for Bilani and was met with a nasty leer.
Bilianr leered towards the not so tasty foe, as wave after wave of contempt eminated from her and into the shiny sphere that was cooking in the sun. Magnemite shuddered (sorta) from the leer despite being minorly blind the magnetic pokemon was affected by the leer and it's defense lowered even further! This wasn't going to so good for it, but at least it had it's health! right? Bilani hadn't attacked it yet, and from what Magnemite knew she was pretty down in stamina.
Floating there, Magnemite was just filled with frustration at this trainer and her under handed tactics!

sarai smythe Sarai beamed as the tactic started working, the magnemite finally failing to pin down Bilani’s location. ”Good going, Bilani! Task complete!” That was the sandile’s cue to turn and hustle over to the purple-haired trainer, tail stirring up a faint trail of dust in the heat. Rather than crouching to pick the scaly little creature back up, however, Sarai turned her attention to the long-eared squirrelish pokemon in her arms. ”Alright, Elinia, everything is ready. You know what to do, right?””Sinsinsin sin sinsin riiiit! Riiiit sinsinsin!”You must have more faith in me than that! I’m all over this like heracross on honey! The brown pokemon chittered, chiding her trainer as she craned her neck backwards to look at Sarai upside-down. The purplette beamed at the little creature, loosening her grip slightly. ”Alright, Elinia, let’s bring this to an end... quickly!” Despite having braced herself, Sarai still staggered back a half-step as the furret in her arm seemed to simply vanish from sight- even though she was expecting it, it took the trainer a moment to focus her sight and catch a glimpse of the brown blur that the sentret had become. Cyclone fluttered her wings and chirruped indignantly at the tilting of her perch, but Zonde just sat and watched in awe. He hoped that one day he might be able to move like that. That- that was really, really impressive. The tinymouse clung to Sarai’s ear with one paw as he watched, nearly leaning off the shoulder he stood atop. The setup was complete- but this was tense. If the magnemite got lucky, it could still injure or even knock out Elinia- even with its defenses scattered, the sentret would need more than just one hit to knock the magnet pokemon’s screws loose. Maloren, though, stayed by his trainer’s ankles with a smug smile, sitting and watching. ”Myaaaa....”In the bag... he drawled confidently. ”Go get ‘em, Elinia!” Sarai cheered, ”Lay it flatter than a doormat!””SIN!” The furret exclaimed, cutting a fast loop around the magnemite that kicked up a bit more dust into the air. ”RIT!” And then she launched herself, just a slightly darker blur against the brown of the dirt path, straight off of the rock the magnemite had nearly crashed into, head aimed right for the creature’s eye!

Elinia leapt off the rock and lunged at Magnemite with blinding speed(assuming quick attack) as she flew through the air and struck Magnemite head on. Magnemite hadn't been able to see much of anything until it felt a hefty thud against it's self as something bounced off of it's metal body knocking it backwards. The attack was not very effective but the lowered defense of Magnemite had allowed Elinia to deal a noticable amount of damage to it's foe, even if that damage had been cut in half. Elinia landed on the ground after her attack had struck, she stood ready crouched and low to the ground.
By the feel of the foe that had struck the floating Magnemite it could tell this was not that ground pokemon from before. The trainer had swapped out after leaving Magnemite with blurred vision and lowered defense! This had all been a set up to weaken it in order to let this new one have a shot against the steel type.
Magnemite was angered by this, and a extremely high pitched sound eminated from Magnemite, it sounded like metal scraping but it was far to loud. Elinia cried out and clutched her ears as the horrible sound echoed out loud and far sending and horrible shiver down her spine. It left Elinia unnerved and a little shaken, her special defense fell rather sharply as the metal sound left it's desired effect upon the little pokemon.
Two could play the defense lowering game then, if that was the way the trainer wanted to play. Magnemite wasn't about to give up, it maybe at a disadvantage but it could still make a comeback in this battle! Elinia cringed as she couldn't shake off the disturbing feeling she got from the metallic sound from Magnemite.

Sarai had been cheering Elinia on, voice supported by the cheerful chirrups of Cyclone on her shoulder, but the moment that the magnemite let loose its horrific screeling noise, the trainer cringed with her whole body. It didn’t tend to matter a whole lot in most situations, but Sarai was really sensitive to high-pitched noises, able to tell when a monitor or screen was on or off by the sound it made, even with any attached speakers shut down. She staggered slightly as her hearing was assaulted, Zonde scrambling to keep his perch as Genevieve stuck her head out of the duffel bag, ears flattened back as far as she could.
”Mew? Miyao myaah mieu?”What was that? A- are you okay?” She stared up at her trainer with squinty feline eyes as the young woman caught herself and slowly uncurled her spine.
”Oh... oh deities... that was terrible....” Sarai moaned, still a bit hunched as she righted her umbrella to avert the beating heat of the sun. ”Urgh.... How did Elinia stand that....?”
She had, of course, the sentret covering her ears as best she could but still forwards and ready in the fight. As the sound came to an end, she managed to remove her paws, a ringing sound remaining behind in the background of her hearing. The sound had been loud and horrendous, but she would manage- she wouldn’t let her partner or her trainer down.
”Sin...” The sentret half-hissed, keeping her body hunched down, coiled and ready. It didn’t take long after that for Sarai to give her directions, though.
”Keep up your attack, Elinia! And whatever you do, don’t stop moving- keep going quickly.” The trainer crouched and gently scooped up the sandile at her feet, once more depositing Bilani in the bib pocket of her coverall-skirt as Elinia got moving, quickly becoming a blur of brown again, this time zigzagging erratically before beginning a sharp curve that would bring her around to a leap at the Magnemite’s back, another Quick Attack already en route.

(for your open thread you should ask around the chat box, or post in the looking for group section, alot of people for some strange reason don't join random groups all that often unless prompted) Elinia lunged forward, so quickly she left a slight after image trail behind her as she glided through the air. The Sentret impacted with a loud thunk against the metal Magnemite, causing it to spiral in the air becoming disoriented, it came to a stop upside down. Elinia landed again on her feet near the upside down foe, and waited tensely for her opponents next move, hoping for her trainers sake there would be no horrible sound.
Unfortunately for them both, Magnemite let out another peircing and horrifying metallic shriek as it used metal sound. Something inside of Magnemite ground together letting out a high pitched noise causing Eilinia to cringe because of how close she was, covering her ears she couldn't block out the sound. Teeth grit and quivering almost to the point of flailing on the ground her special defense dropped harshly!
Magnemite began to right it's self, shaking off the damage from the blow, though ineffective it's lowered defense had made it vulnerable. It seemed like it was in danger of losing, and worry filled the steel type top to bottom. It had forgotten for the most part about the blistering heat that was relentlessly assaulting it, and the catalyst for this battle. It's attention was almost completely on keeping it's blurred vision upon Elinia not letting her get away.
Elinia was glad the metal sound had finished, but her defense had almost dropped to the bottom, though Magnemite probably couldn't hit her with an actual attack. Both pokemon felt tense as this battle could surely go either way, a lucky hit on either side could end this battle in a flash! As if to increase the tension the sun beat down on them all harshly without remorse for those caught in it's onslaught.

sarai smythe ”Agh, *****! My head!” Sarai outright dropped the umbrella this time, falling to one knee and clutching at her ears. Now she was having trouble hearing anything, even after the horrendous shriek died down. Her breathing went deeper, and slightly uneven as she focused through the pain being caused to her ears, the world seeming to be slightly off-tilt for a few moments. She was stern enough stuff not to be vomiting over from disorientation, but the pain was really something else- especially since it wasn’t a literal pain. Cuts, bruises, those she could take, but the kind of phantom pain this was causing her as her mind tried to handle what her ears were sending it was overloading her ability to cope. ”Nyu?” Genevieve questioned, peering up at her trainer as the woman slowly regained some of her composure- though the beating heat was already getting to her, ruining it a different way now. Still, she’d not fail to this, and panting a bit between pain and temperature, she shoved a hand roughly past the skitty into her duffel back, pulling out a red-and-white sphere. Depressing the trigger button on the pokeball, she staggered to her feet, shoulders drooped and back bowed. Another panicked mew came from the pink-and-white feline as the bag holding her nearly slipped, but Bilani, pushed her head backwards, forcing the strap of the duffel back into place. Overhead, Cyclone circled agitatedly, but the small bird could do little to help. Maloren, at least, was able to lift the umbrella from the ground, awkwardly maneuvering it so that the grip was near Sarai’s free left hand. ”P... Pokeball...” Sarai gritted out to try and focus herself. ”Ragh!” Came her snarl as she whipped her arm out, hurling the ball in a direction that she hoped in a brief fit of viciousness brought on by pain and heat would land it in the magnemite’s eye. Then she clutched her head with her right hand, fumbling for the umbrella’s handle with her left as Zonde slowly climbed back up her ponytail, having caught himself from a complete tumble into the dirt.
