RUBY Kiki had no idea why the Spinda had a attitude problem on it. She got sent out to battle it and it had just started being mean to her for no reason other than looking different from her normal species. Maybe the spinda was jealous of Kiki because she was wanted by Ruby while it wasn't wanted by a trainer. She cocked her head to the side seriously confused since she had only recently met her new trainer and he didn't look all that rich to her. "But I am not rich and neither is Ruby... I don't think. Ruby just like me and the others to look as cute as possible." How could the Spinda say things when it didn't know Kiki, the other Pokemon or even Ruby. "That is the same for me, I am a normal Skitty, I just have pink skin and a cute tail." She rubbed the side of her face against her tail. "You're just making fun because of my skin coulour, what are you some kind of male Gardevour that believes it is a female kind." Kiki looked on annoyed at what the Spinda had to say next. "Now you are making fun of me because I have a different tail when you have different spot from your other species. Where is the berry stuff around my neck? I have a bell on a collar but that doesn't even do anything to me. Ruby just likes us to look our best in what ever we do. I guess you would make fun of Lulu if he was out." She gritted her teeth in anger. Kiki was about to rush over to Ruby when she noticed Rara next to her but stopped when Rara spoke to her. "So because Rara is comforting me and being nice, you think I am being a pet. It is called having friends, you should try it some time maybe then you would be nice." She glanced behind her at the retreating psychic Pokemon. "Is that what we are doing?" Kiki turned back to the Spinda. "I thought I was dover powering you as you are weak and you are picking on me to make yourself look and feel better." Before she could do anything else a poke ball came out of nowhere and sucked in the wild Pokemon. Ruby walked over and waited for the poke ball to shake three times before he picked it up and sent it to his PC. He then heard someone clapping. 'That was some interesting battling.' Ruby turned and saw a small kid with white hair wearing a white jacket with black sleeves. "I didn't know you were there." Rara got between Ruby and the stranger. Ruby returned Kiki and pulled out two poke balls ready for a tough battle. A Gallade appeared next to the stranger. 'I don't want a battle. I heard about a trainer with a special Skitty so I came to have a look and didn't want to distract you from the battle. I need a Spinda so how about I trade you for a Geodude from the Alola region?' The stranger raised an eyebrow. "I am after a Geodude. Let's go to the Pokemon centre to do the trade." Ruby said. After the trade, Ruby returned to continue looking for some more Pokemon to battle.

It was a bright and hot sunny day in New Bark Town, with occasional clouds flying in the sky occasionally to shield the ground from the blazing heat. Pokemon were taking advantage of the warm summer days to be out and about, perhaps even prepare for the next winter. Many chirpings and cries could be heard in the background for ambience.

Ruby looked around for some wild Pokemon along the route, but they seemed to be hiding in the shade or somewhere far away. Eventually, he would come across a small Sentret curling almost into a ball under a tree's shade. The mammal Pokemon's ear perked up when it heard Ruby approaching, and then uncurled itself to stand on its tail. It quickly spotted the human, and stood guard in case the young teen wanted to give it a fight.

RUBY Ruby rubbed his forehead to get rid of the sweat on his forehead, of course it would help if he removed his beanie hat to lessen the hotness on his head, but then that would reveal the 'X' shaped scar on his forehead and that wasn't something that he wanted to go around revealingto people. He stopped under a tree for some shade as he thought about what he wanted to do. He did want to search for a specific Pokemon that had a regional form different from a certain trainer he had heard about, but he didn't want to be sweating so much that his clothes stick to his body or for his Pokemon to look less appealing than they normally do. Ruby looked around to see if he c9uld spot any wild Pokemon he could battle while standing underneath the shade but they all appeared to be hiding from the heat. He let out a slight sigh as he pushed of from the tree to continue on his journey, before he traveled to far, a familiar Pokemon appeared so he pulled out a poke ball. "Regardless of the effects of time, the smartness that this body encompasses never changes. Let's Synchronize with the opponent, this is the Pokemon Ralts - Rara!" Ruby called out. Rara appeared on the field. "Rara, use Disarming Voice." Ruby said. Rara opened her mouth and released a beam of purple hearts in a loud shrieking voice from her mouth at the Sentret.

Maybe shrieking at and waking up the sentret wasn't the best idea Ruby had on this day. The little fluff ball didn't look especially strong or scary, but the alert scout pokemon wasn't a complete pushover despite is skittish nature. Once that disarming voice went off, the Sentret looked...distressed and upset, and decided that attacking source of that horrible noise was the way to go. It fluffed up like a frightened meowth and then pounced, flailing its arms and clawing deep scratches into Rara's cheeks and side. It was a devestating blow to the frail psychic type's meager defenses.

The wild pokemon hopped back and pushed onto its tail once more, ears twitching, again alert and prepared to retaliate. 

It growled. 

More defensive than aggressive. Like it might have stayed and watched from a distance if Ruby hadn't approached at all, but now it felt obligated to attack.

RUBY Ruby couldn't help but to gulp when Rara released a Disarming Voice that appeared to do nothing more than annoy the Sentret... or did it look distressed and upset over the attack? He couldn't tell since he was worried for his psychic type, since it meant that it was going to be a very hard battle for her and it didn't look like that she had any chance of winning the battle on her own. Ruby glanced around and noticed that the white haire trainer who he had traded with wasn't in sight... but then again he was previously hiding when he was battling the Spinda... so he could go all out in the battle without anyone seeing just how strong he actually was. Rara got sent flying backwards and crashed into the ground by the scratching she received from the Sentret. She got up onto one knee weakly and huffed not sure if she would survive another attack. She used her hand to push on her knee so that she could stand up. Rara stumbled forward and collapsed onto her hands and knees. "I am not giving up." Rara mumbled to herself. Ruby looked on sad over how hurt Rara appeared to be. "Rara, return." Rara disappeared into her poke ball. Ruby put away the poke ball and pulled out a different poke ball. "Regardless of the effects of time, the toughness that this body encompasses never changes. Boiling with raging Torrent, this is the Pokemon Mudkip - Mumu!" He called out. Mumu appeared on the battle field with mucus drooling down onto the ground. "Mumu, use rock Smash." Ruby said. Mumu's body becomes outlined in yellow, he jumps into the air and falls frown on the Sentret.

It was natural for a wild pokemon to suddenly be in unexpected battles, which was why sentrets had grown to be so alert and skittish, if they noticed trouble brewing early enough they had time to get away. It had worked wonders for the species although it of course wasn't a fool proof tactic, in which they fought back like this one did right now.
They often went for the defensive strategy when necessary, as they were rarely an aggressive species, which was also why it chose to curl up defensively when Rara was pulled back and Mumu was sent out in her place.

It was far from enough to protect it against what came, and it stood no chance when Mumu was on top of it and hell crashed down on it. It wailed and waved its hand in the air to show it was giving up, Rara had been an option but Mumu was way out of its league and it didn't want to battle any more.
The normal type looked nervously at them and then sat up with its head bowed down, awaiting its fate, knowing enough about humans and their companion pokemon that they might want to bring it along.
Had this been a predator which had attacking it, it would have reacted quite different, and a lot more panicked.

Mumu subdued the sentret and grows +1 level to [Lv 11]!


Rara did all she could and grows +1 level to [Lv 4]!

RUBY Ruby knew that it was a risky strategy to use Rara in the battle since she wasn't particularly strong, so it just meant that he would have to do some decent training in order to help her in her next battle. The only good option she would have had was I they were against a dragon type Pokemon but that was very unlikely to happen so early in the region since they are extremely rare to find. Ruby let out a sigh of frustration, since he should have swapped Rara out for Mumu or Lulu right at the start instead of letting Rara to attack since that could of cost her the battle. Mumu couldn't help but to smile gently when the wild Sentret curled up when he was sent out. He doubt that it would help since he was such a strong battler despite his tendency of letting his mucus run freely. He just hoped that his trainer had a good strategy to make the battle fun and easy for him to use. Mu mu let out a scream of delight as he left through the air as it felt like he was flying. After releasing his Rock Smash attack, he landed on the ground and turned to face his opponent only to see that it had waved its hand in the air in defeat from the single attack. Mumu wanted to continue to battle and was disappointed with the outcome. Ruby took a deep breath as he pulled out a poke ball and saw the nervous look on Sentret's face. "Mumu, return." Mumu disappeared back into his Poke ball in a red light. Ruby put the poke ball away. "You are lucky that you are not the Pokemon I am looking for, as you are a strong battler and would be a valued member of the team. But now you agave a chance to get stronger and win your next battle." He smiled gently at the wild Pokemon before he walked away to continue searching in Newbark Town.

The mouth noises of the trainer ended and Sentret remained; waiting. But nothing came save footsteps turning to leave. Not the sound of an expanding ball or a bop on the head to scoop the wild pokemon up to a new life. Nothing.

Sentret turned its head up, still hunched and ears down turned as if expecting some trick, but it quickly relaxed at the sight of Ruby's back. It was stunned with relief, albeit short lived as the proverbial light bulb turned on behind its eyes accompanied by a soft squeak. It bound forward a few steps, stopped and turned its head from the depths of foliage lining the path then back to Ruby, then bound away in quite the hurry.



The area was rather serene afterward. No doubt many were preferring to stick around any of the cool water bodies elsewhere than trundle around the humid forested areas. Though the shade was certainly being taken advantage by a few distant burrowers, none would make their way to bother Ruby. Who wanted to be all sweaty right now?


Just when it seemed like a random encounter wasn't going to just stumble along the young lad's path, a flurry of bushy rustles would arise from his left. A familiar squeak and recognizable craw just above it could be noted as the activity through the trees came closer. Soon the picture would become clear as a few figures emerged from the cover of wild greenery.

Ahead of the group running at the pitiful top speed it could muster was a sentret. The same sentret, as could be deduced by it being sopping wet yet and a little ruffed up. More interestingly though was what it was carrying and its pursuers. Of which was a bag of chips, and a rattata and spearow respectively.


The spearow was having a bit of trouble getting any ground thanks to the trees, but the rattata was clearly gaining. No doubt sentret must have sneakily grabbed the goods and got a decent head start to have made it this far considering how swiftly the purple rodent was closing the gap now that they were in more open terrain. However, that did fall off once the wild pokemon realized where their little thief was heading to.

"SPEEEEAAR!" shrieked the pointed avian above as it cleared the canopy and eyed Ruby down below with the typical razor frown iconic to the bird's species.

Sentret continued hustling its way into the protective zone that was the friendly trainer. Rattata stopped several feet away and growled, tail bristling. The scout pokemon looked to Ruby with expectant beady little eyes as it padded along, slowing to a stop, and panting heavily. It released the crinkly bag, which turned out to be 2 small bags held together with a '2 for 1 deal' sticker, from its teeth and into its hands as it made to rest in the comfort of its tail.

With the agitated bird making a circle above Ruby, Sentret ripped the tie between the two bags and offered one up to the boy then pointed to each of its pursuers with a squeak.

Sentret figured Ruby's a good guy and could help it out.

RUBY Ruby knew that one day the Sentret could eventually become strong enough to give even Mumu a challenge in a battle. But he wasn't interested in having a normal Sentret since there wasn't anything unique about it unlike with Kiki. He continued to walk away and didn't even look behind him, so he didn't even noticed that the wild Pokemon had turned its head to look at his retreating form. Ruby heard a soft squeak from behind him, but didn't pay much attention as he simply assumed that the Sentret was trying to catch its breath to escape to safety. He kept his eyes focused as he glanced from left and right for any signs of other Pokemon for him to battle. Ruby wouldn't mind if he faced a grass, ground or flying type Pokemon since Nana did know Ice Fang what would be advantageous in battle especially since he knows what the first gym specialized in. He could also use it in the second gym, but at the same time his dark type would be at a disadvantage against the bug types. So maybe he should look for rock type Pokemon to pair with his Alolan Geodude. Ruby stopped walking when he heard a flurry of bushes had rustled to his left. He instantly grabbed a poke ball as he looked to where the sound had came from. Ruby heard a familiar squeak and a craw above from where the sound of the squeak had come from. He had no idea what to expect but reached for a second poke ball as it sounded like it might be a double battle on his hand. Ruby let out a breath he hadn't realized that he was holding when he noticed that it was the Sentret that he had previously battled. Had it escaped to gather its friends in order to seek revenge on him and his Pokemon? If that was the case then what were its 'friends' and how strong were they? One of Ruby's questions were soon answered when he noticed the Rattata and Spearow were being led by the Sentret. He looked closer and noticed that it didn't look like the Pokemon he had previously battled was leading the other two Pokemon, it looked more like the two Pokemon was chasing the other Pokemon for some reason. Ruby remained where he was as he wasn't sure what the situation was with the three wild Pokemon. "Regardless of the effects of time, the coolness that this body encompasses never changes. Carrying with her the tough Intimidate, this is the Pokemon Poochyena - Nana!" Ruby called out. Nana appeared on the path between Ruby and the three wild Pokemon. She growled at the three wild Pokemon to try to stop them in their tracks. Ruby looked down when the Sentret slowed to a stop and released something. He bent down and noticed that it was two small bags of Pewter Crunchies held together with a special offer sticker. "Thank you." Ruby took the packet and stuck them away before he stood up and faced the other two Pokemon. "If you two wanta battle then I am more than happy to give you one." He glanced down to his dark type Pokemon. "Nana, use Ice Fang." Nana rushed forward, gathering up the moisture of the air around his teeth. She leaped into the air in a attempt to bite the Spearow.

Small eyes black as coal widened to the size of saucer pans. Immediately, Sentret snatched one of the bags up and pulled away from Ruby the moment he thought he’d make away with both of the bags of Pewter Crunchies. The rotund meerkat already pulled them apart, grubby hands holding out one of the bags respectively, and though it could have just been the small mammal’s paranoia creeping it, it thought Ruby tried to take both of the 2-for-1 special bags for himself. A small critter’s gotta eat too, after all!

“SEEENNN TREETTT!” The battle cry was a loud an ferocious one. It plopped up on the tip of its tail like a sentry and scanned the area ahead. Nana appeared, a shaggy beast of a Pokemon whose breath formed small icicles with every breath. It pointed, chattering away as if to alert it’s comrad of the approaching enemies on the horizon. The gentle breeze pressed through the wild grasses and caused their sweat to stick from the humidity that clung in the air. “SEEENTREET!” A final warning as they all clashed into a massive heap of fur and feathers.

Spearow’s sharp stare caused a strange sense of foreboding to crawl down the base of Sentret’s spine. It shook its head, slowly backing away for a moment as though it wasn’t too sure it wanted to suffer another brutal ring. Nana rushed by, immediately snatching the bird out of the air, and sunk her fangs into Spearow’s wing with a satisfied C R U N C H! It flopped, hurt and wounded, and struggled to get the joints to react the way it expected. “SPEAR!” The wild avian cursed.

Rattata slapped the rabid canine off its companion with its tail. Though it wasn’t an exceptionally hard it, Nana would eventually jump back, no doubt slightly startled from the assault. Sentret, renewed by the sense of belonging with its newfound friend in the heat of the moment, leaped on top of Spearow while the opportunity presented itself. Sharp claws ripped mercilessly at feathers, scattering them all about. It leaped back as Spearow managed to kick its assailant off with a gruff huff, a satisfied smirk covering its maw.

RUBY Ruby quickly moved his hand away when the Sentret snatched both bags away even though he was only taking the single bag that it had offered him, he didnt want to startle the wild Pokemon and turn the battle into a triple battle. What would be somewhat tough to do unless he decided to use his two stronger Pokemon and one of his weaker ones. Ruby's eyes settled on the wild Rattata since he had heard of a dark type variant from the Alola region so he would finally capture a new Pokemon, he didnt have any interest in the Spearow so he would simply concentrate on defeating that before he swapped the concentration to the other Pokemon. Nanacould see that out of her two opponents, the flying type appeared to be the stronger of the two what made the battle even harder since she didn't know any long range moves so she would have to get in close to it in order to launch her attacks. She shivered slightly when the gentle breeze passed over her, she wished that the battle would end quickly so that she could go back into her poke ball and to keep warm. Nana did doubt that she would be able to handle both wild Pokemon and hoped that Ruby would swap her out from one of the more rested Pokemon to finish off the battle. "Leave the Sentret alone!" Nana growled as she rushed forward while gathering the moisture into her fangs. She landed on the ground after being slapped off the the flying type by the normal type and leaped backwards ready to see what else would happen in the battle. Nana was glad that she had managed to cause the first amount of damage in the battle, but she did feel like she couldn't handle many attacks from the two opponents after whatever the Rattata had done to her. Ruby raised an eyebrow slightly as he took in the moves launched by all four of the Pokemon currently in the battle and could easily tell what was the biggest threat, but at the same time he could tell from a glance that the ice type move had caused some serious damage to the Spearow. So he knew that it would more than likely fall with the next attack, but he wasn't sure what to do about the normal type Pokemon. Who could Ruby send out and be confident in handling the Rattata on their own without any assistance? He smirked slightlyas he decided on who he would try out for the battle. "Nana, use Ice Fang on the Spearow again." Ruby called out. Nana rushed forward, gathering up the moisture of the air around his teeth. She leaped into the air in a attempt to bite the Spearow.

The crunchies were pilfered by the human, but fortunately the Sentret was too busy with the war with the other wilds to notice. After leering menacingly the previous round, the spearow let out a threatening caw that made its foes wince, wary of continuing to battle against such an intimidating foe. As the quartet accessed each other after that original collision, it was the rattata that broke the stalemate first, lunging at the sentret to slam it to the ground. The poochyena then snapped into action, grabbing the spearow in his icy jaws and shaking the bird, until said bird managed to flounder and struggle its way free. There was a lot of feathers trailed behind the spearow, but before it could regain its senses, the sentret, seeing its weakness, slipped away from the rattata to scratch at the spearow. TAKE THAT!

SPEAR!

The wild spearow gave up the fight. Those snacks weren't worth quibbling over. This battle was just too much work. With a few flaps of its wings, it fled, leaving the rattata behind.

RUBY Nana couldn't help but to smirk slightly showing some of her sharp teeth since it appeared obvious that the Rattata wasn't going to give up the battle. So it would help her get one step closer to becoming a powerful Mightyena. Nana felt her defense get weaker but she was n9t going to give up without going all out in the battle and hopefully finish it before Ruby decided to swap her out with another to finish off the battle. She looked on disappointed as it didn't appear that her attack had Don much damage but then the Sentret followed up with an attack of its own from behind the Rattata. But even the double attack didn't finish off the wild Pokemon and it looked like the battle was still far from over. "Nana, use Tackle." Ruby called out. Nana rushed forward and leaped through the air at the Rattata hoping to cause some serious damage on the opponent.

The rat was steadfast even in the wake of its ally leaving it. Tail twitching, whiskers quivering, the rodent stared down the pup and the sentret. It wanted the crunchies. Oblivious to the fact that the treat was already removed from the mix, it flicked its tail with anticipation, planning its next move since spearow was gone. Maybe it would focus on that pesky sentret...Then there was an explosion of movement. The poochyena tried to slam into its side, but the blow was glancing. It should have seen the tag team effort coming, but it didn't. Caught off guard by the weak attack, the rat was vulnerable to the sentret that snuck up from behind and walloped it right in the middle of the back! 

It squeaked in alarm!

That was playing dirty! You'd regret that!
