The rat moved quicker, slamming hard into Nana and nearly knocked the pup down to half-health in one blow. All of those tail whips were stacking up. Something was going to give if the rat wasn't brought down soon. As the rat regained its balance after speeding into Nana, the pup tackled it, knocking the rat into the scratches of the sentret, finally wearing it down noticeably. The rat panted, whiskers quivering, ears flat. (It was second guessing if the snacks were worth it now.) But it was invested in this victory and bared its teeth. It wouldn't back down now! Before Nana could react she got slammed hard by the Rattata forcing her to crash into ground with a single blow. She started to pant as she shaking lying got back up onto her feet with a fierce growl, since she was not happy how much damage she had received from just the one attack. Nana was glad that her Tackle had connected and caused the Rattata to go into the Scratch from the Sentret. If she could just land her next attack then maybe the battle would be over.
Nana had no idea why the Spearow and Rattata had originally ganged up on the Sentret but she was glad that the Spearow wasn't that tough of a battle, but the Rattata was turning out to be something else entirely.
She bared her own teeth at the wild Pokemon as she was not out of the battle yet. "Nana, use Tackle again." Ruby called out knowing these next attacks could either result in his victory or in Nana losing the battle. Nana rushed forward and attempted to to slam her body into the Rattata.

Nope! This was not worth it at all! Two against one, now its ally had chosen to abandoned it, but the rat apparently was stubborn. It had stolen those crunchies fair and square, and it wasn't going to see them getting taken away by some stupid thief just because it had been distracted for a moment. It pelted forward, dead set on letting the poochyena pay for it all, even though her only crime was to help the sentret. It slammed into Nana and the two rolled over the ground, until Nana got ground under her paws again, and the repaid the tackle. The rattata decided, that enough was enough, you won some and you lost some, that was how life was in the wild. It scurried off without as much as a glance back. Sentret had been content sitting the last round out as it was pretty clear where it was going. It grinned and licked its mouth as it watched the purple rat disappear in the thicket, it would not dare show its face for quite some time. As Ruby had already gotten his prize, one of the bags of goodies, the sentret grinned at him, thanked Nana for her help and took the bag it had left in between its teeth again. Then it trotted off with its snack to find a good undisturbed place to enjoy it. Nana handled teamwork splendidly and grows (3/2+3/2) 3 levels to [Lv 7]! She learns Sand Attack! Sentret is pleased with the help and hands over the promised crunchies. (ooc: words added to egg for the last two posts (as last update to party is currently 11 sep) 159+186)

"Yes!" Nana growled as she could taste the victory was within her grasp. But the thing that concerned her the most was the fact that the next attack launched by the wild opponent could end her battle if it's damage output was higher than the previous damage that she had received. But maybe Ruby had a plan that would result in Nana winning. She grunted as her and the wild Pokemon rolled around the ground. She managed to get her paws under her and leaped back slightly to give herself some distance from the Rattata before she launched another Tackle on her opponent. She grinned slightly when tpit looked like the wild Pokemon had given up the battle. Nana was glad since she doubted that she would have lasted much longer. She watched as he tough opponent scurried off back into the wild.
Ruby watched as the Sentret spoke to Nana before it went off back into the wild itself. He picked up the snack and stuck it into his bag before he pulled out a brush. "Nana, come here." Ruby crouched down. Nana trotted over to Ruby. Ruby started to brush Nana to get rid of the dirt that she had received from the battle. Just as he had finished restoring his dark type to her appearance that she had before the battle he heard something out of place so he put the brush back in his bag. Ruby stood up and pulled out a poke ball. "Nana, return." Nana disappeared back into her poke ball. "Regardless of the effects of time, the toughness that this body encompasses never changes. Boiling with raging Torrent, this is the Pokemon Mudkip- Mumu!" Ruby said. Mumu appeared sniffing up mucus that was dripping towards the ground.

"Do you often talk to yourself like a freak?"
That was how a punk of a redhead introduced himself, strolling through the rain with an umbrella in hand and a cyndaquil marching dutifully at his side.
"Boiling with raging Torrent, this is the Pokemon Mudkip- Mumu!" He mocked in a taunting voice before laughing. "Who talks like that? You trying to act like one of those characters in a manga or something? Put down the comics, NERD. Pffft. And who names their pokemon Mumu? Isn't that a dress for old ladies that looks like a tent?" He jeered with more snickering. "Tch. Rain or not, my Cyndaquil could totally kick the butt of some lame Mudkip named after some fat granny's dress."
The cyndaquil leapt forward with a shiver.
"We have been training in this rain all day. My cyndaquil is toughened up against water like no other cyndquil before it!"

"That is all a matter of opinion." Ruby turned to look and saw a red haired boy with a Cyndaquil.
He did have to wonder on if the trainer had any other Pokemon or if the fire type was the only Pokemon he currently had. Ruby did feel sorry for the Cyndaquil, since fire type Pokemon are at a serious disadvantage in the rain. Was the trainer forcing the fire type to remain out in the rain as a punishment?
Ruby rolled his eyes as he listened to the trainer mocking him over how he sent out Mumu. He wasn't going to bother comment about it since end of the day everyone was different with how they sent out their Pokemon and how they battle. "It just shows that you are not educated in the way of the contests. I've never been bothered about comics or manga so I have no idea how they talk in them. Are you saying that you like to wear dresses and that is why you know what one is? Since I had no idea what they were called." Ruby did have to wonder about the reason for trainer's attitude to the way he names Pokemon. "How about we settle this with a battle. If I win then you don't mention the way I introduce my Pokemon or their names, the if... and that is a very big if... you win then I will change Mumu's name."
Mumu stroller forward noticing that Ruby was being serious for a change.
"Is your name Joey by any chance as you sound like a trainer I have heard about who talks about his Rattata being in the top percent of all Rattata." Ruby looked at Mumu. "Mumu, us Water Gun."
Mumu's cheeks blew out as he stood his ground. He then shot a powerful Water Gun at the Cyndaquil hoping to cause some serious damage on his opponent.

Silver scoffed and rolled his eyes, "whatever freak," he seemed confident about winning with his fire type, even during rain. His cyndaquil mostly just seemed to think this was a bit too wet and cold for its taste but it didn't look worried either. "Contests?! Are you really wasting your time with that baby stuff? I know all I need to know, it's not real battles and the pokemon jumps around like idiots, no wonder you're such a weirdo if you do stuff like that!" He mocked and laughed, "this is going to be easier than I thought."His face darkened when Ruby asked if he liked to dress up, "I'm not a girl!" He snapped disdainfully, before he narrowed his eyes, "you act like a child who still gets his ass wiped by momma, and manga's are for kids, so you're clearly playing pretend as one of those. And trying to look pretty by doing that dancing contests stuff like a girl wanting to be a princess. A real trainer wouldn't speak so stupidly," he ranted while pointing a finger at Ruby. The redhead wrinkled his nose, "no, if I win you'll shut up with that nonsense and stop wasting your time with contest to try be a real trainer," he demanded. "Cyndaquil, Smokescreen," at least he had a wit enough to realise he might want to limit how much water damage his cyndaquil would take. The brat stared at Ruby like he had grown an extra head, "you think this look like a pathetic rattata?!" he snapped and gestured to his cyndaquil, who tried and failed at lighten up the flames it had on its back. "My name is Silver and you'll soon learn to remember me," he said proudly as his fire type spread a weak smoke almost got washed away by the rain, it made cyndaquil look a bit worried, right until it got blasted by a extremely powerful water gun that sent it flying straight into Silver and toppled him over. Silver was up on his feet in an instant and furious, the fire type rather limp in his hands. "WAKE UP YOU STUPID THING! YOU'RE NOT DONE YET!" He screamed at it and it soon flinched. He put it down harshly and the fire type now outright looked terrified at Mumu. Rival Battle Weather: Rain [attr="class","qkt-bkgd"] [attr="class","qkt-wild-pkmn"] Cyndaquil LV 10 HP 3% [1/30]

He let out a sigh of amusement at the response from the red haired trainer. Ruby didn't see any possible way from the Cyndaquil to win in a battle against Mumu, they both seemed to be of similar strength but with it raining that means any fire type moves were weaker than normal, while Mumu had access to Water Gun that would cause serious damage. "Just what is the plan." He thought. Ruby gently shook his head as he listened to what Silver had to say. "I'm not wasting my time with it no more. I have completed all of the contests in the Hoen Region without much of a challenge. So now I am here fto do the same thing with the gyms of a different region with mostly if not the exact same team." He smirked slightly since he wasn't all about contests in the part and didn't think the trainer would be much of a challenge. "We'll see." Ruby clapped his hands together when he heard the reply from Silver. "Oh so you are no longer a girl, if you want people to believe you then get rid of the bob-cut." He raised an eyebrow slightly. "You say I act like a child when you are acting like one yourself. Didn't your parents teach you to listen to what people say since I told you that I don't bother with comics or manga. A real trainer knows that they need to calm down their wild ways when the person they are protecting is scared because the trainer got hurt..." Ruby instantly moved a hand up to his hat where his scar would be. "... but that just shows you are not a real trainer. I doubt you would be able to beat my dad's team no matter how much you act like a tough trainer." He was confident that the normal gym leader of Hoen wouldn't lose to the cocky red haired trainer.
"Fine, but in that case I change what will happen when I win. When I win then you will have to quit being a trainer and you have to enter contests." Ruby smiled since he doubt Silver would be able to complete even the basic contests yet alone the more advanced contests. "Mumu don't let a little smoke bother you." He could see what the plan was to accommodate the type disadvantage. Ruby took a step forward but then felt something small pushing back against his leg. He looked down and noticed that his psychic Pokemon had let herself out of her poke ball and was trying to stop him. Ruby let out a slight sigh of frustration as he bent down to pick up Rara. "I'm sorry." He said to his psychic pokemon, he looked back at his opponent. "In the rain it may as well be a Rattata since it isn't going to beat Mumu." Ruby tapped his finger gently on his chin. "What is up with people being named after colours? You are Silver, then I watched a Pokemon league tournament where there were two males and a female who also had colored names." He couldn't remember exactly what colour the other three trainers were named. Ruby was thinking about the names so much he failed to notice that the Water Gun had caused the Cyndaquil to crash into Silver.
He yawned slightly as he stuck his little finger into his ear and the flicked it away. "That is no way to treat your Pokemon. You should treat them with love and care. If I didn't know better you have a dark type in reserve to match your attitude and you stole that starter knowing nothing about it." Mumu looked at the Cyndaquil feeling sympathy for his opponent, since it was a argument between their trainers yet they are the ones being forced to do the battle. "Mumu, use Water Gun." Ruby said. Mumu's cheeks blew out as he stood his ground. He then shot a powerful Water Gun at the Cyndaquil hoping to cause some serious damage on his opponent.

Silver’s anger was getting the better of him. He held his hands at his sides in tightly closed fists, absolutely glaring at Ruby through a slitted gaze. Why was this child so obnoxious? He hoped to bully the brat into submission if only to gain some experience for the small echidna that stood trembling in terror at his feet, and nearly lost the battle right out of the gate. “I don’t care where you are from, freak. That doesn’t make a hill of beans difference to me.” Silver snapped firmly. With a glare towards his Cyndaquil, Silver snapped, “Use Tackle and don’t fail me.” The small blue mammalian Pokemon popped up, sprouting weak flames out of its drenched backside. The rain was terrible, causing the small mouse-like Pokemon to feel pretty sick to its stomach. Why was there so much of this wet stuff everywhere, soaking the ground to its core? It raced across the ground and slammed into Mumu, knocking the blue mudfish backwards slightly. “Good. Maybe you aren’t useless.” Silver spat on the ground. “Listen here, I’m not interested in your deals. I told you exactly what is going to happen. You are not making any more stupid demands from me! So go ahead and cower, like the sniveling nerd you are! And be glad I don’t beat you up for your lunch money!” Silver growled loudly as Mumu prepared herself for another powerful blast of her water-based attack. The liquids surged through the torrential downpour after Cyndaquil, who ran for its life. Water was everywhere and a high-powered jet-stream was chasing after him! He wanted to get the heck out of dodge, before it hit! “Cynnddaaa!” Cyndaquil cried weakly, expecting the worse. It just barely managed to avoid all of Mumu’s blast. Cyndaquil collapsed on the ground, heaving large pockets of air from his lungs, thankful that he lived to see another moment. “Don’t tell me how to raise my Pokemon.” He glared. “Because, Ruby is just a color name too. Pfft.” Silver growled, thinking of things that were often called ‘ruby red’ because of their coloration. Why was some freak with a freakish gemstone of a name commenting on Silver’s name anyways? Who names their kids after stones?! Ugly! “Hah!” Silver laughed loudly, pointing at finger in Mumu’s direction. “That pathetic fish-rat couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn! Look at that struggling piece of crap!” Silver mocked loudly. Rival Battle Weather: Rain [attr="class","qkt-bkgd"] [attr="class","qkt-wild-pkmn"] Cyndaquil LV 10 HP 3% [1/30]

Ruby could tell that Silver was getting worked up over what he had to say from the way that the opponent held his fists at his sides. He knew that you shouldn't let his emotions get the better of him but some times it couldn't be helped, especially when people insult his Pokemon or the one he wants to protects. Ruby did hope that width time and over battles... hopefully sooner rather than latter... he could get Silver to care for his Pokemon. "Is your insecurity from a childhood trauma of being kidnapped by a masked man and forced to not show any emotions, only for you to be rescued by a kidnapped female?" He raised an eyebrow since he wanted to get a better understanding of his opponent.
Ruby looked at Silver's Cyndaquil with sympathy since it was more obvious than before that he didn't care about his Pokemon. "Be careful Mumu and take it like a pro." He knew it would all come down to luck now since his water type Pokemon was more likely to miss, while his opponent's fire type Pokemon attacks will all depend on what moves are chosen since some moves are more likely to hit than others. Mumu dug his feet into the ground as he got knocked backwards to slow down the push. He glanced back at his trainer concerned for him. Mumu turned back to look at Cyndaquil when Silver spoke cruely to the Cyndaquil. "Good job Mumu." Ruby called out encouragement.
"So I guess you are not confident that you can beat mumu. So I guess then I don't need to do what you want me to do." He bent his arms and stuck his hands behind the back of his head. "It shows that you also can't hear since I have already told you twice that I don't read comics or manga. So you aren't just deaf you are also a bully, good to know." Ruby hoped that Mumu's Water Gun would end the battle but knowing his luck it wouldn't happen and he would have to suffer by continue listening to Silver spout nonsense and not listen to what Ruby had to say. Mumu watched as the Cyndaquil rushed away from his Water Gun and noticed that Silver wasn't saying or doing anything to help his Pokemon.
Ruby looked on slightly disappointed when the Water Gun launched by Mumu missed the Cyndaquil, so luck wasn't on his side this time, but the battle was far from over. "If you raised your Pokemon with love and care then I wouldn't have to tell you how to raise your Pokemon." He smirked slightly at what his opponent had to say next. "So there are two more people I know of with colour based names then, but Ruby is a shade red, while my childhood friend's name is a shade of blue." Ruby shrugged his shoulders slightly in a non caring way. He raised an eyebrow slightly at his opponent, he looked down at his psychic Pokemon in his hands before he looked back up at his opponent. "You say that but I am not the one who was confident in his Pokemon to win a battle only to have my Pokemon use cheap shots in order to reduce the chance of my Pokemon winning the battle." Ruby looked at Mumu. "Mumu, use Water Gun again." Mumu's cheeks blew out as he stood his ground. He then shot a powerful Water Gun at the Cyndaquil hoping to cause some serious damage on his opponent.

Silver scowled. What was this delusional nerd going on about? “What childhood trauma? Are you saying you have some?” He demanded with a sneer. There were moments in his past that Silver lived through, same as anyone else. People he wished to prove his skill and strength to, as well. They would soon see just how powerful and strong he could be, though it wasn’t something that this kid was somehow psychically in the know about. So why was he even saying such things beyond the fact that he just wanted to crawl underneath Silver’s skin. Yeah, bump that! “Cyndaquil, you need to use Tackle. And this time, really knock that pipsqueak of a fish out.” Silver commanded. He used the heel of his foot to kick Cyndaquil in the rear, causing the small Pokémon to lurch across the ground nervously on its feet. It shook and shivered in the biting cold. It was raining hard, making it difficult for Cyndaquil to manage to maintain a leg in the fight. He turned his head sadly to Silver, before turning back to face off against Mumu. “Didn’t I tell you not to tell me how to take care of my Pokémon? Focus on your own for once.” Silver snapped angrily. Cyndaquil rushed across the ground in the face of Mumu’s high-powered blast of water. All it could feel was cold. Every inch of its body was soaking wet. Though it gave its all, landing in a collapsed heap after managing one last weak attack on Mumu, it wasn’t quite strong enough to continue any longer. Silver recalled his Pokémon with a shrug, turning halfway away from Ruby altogether. “You’re still a nerd, Nerd. So don’t act like that’s the only thing that makes you a nerd, pfft. Whatever.” He reached into his pockets and pulled out a bit of change and some pocket lint. In anger, Silver tossed it at Ruby’s face, aiming to slap him in the face with the wad of cash. If only his Pokémon wasn’t such a weakling. If only Ruby didn’t cheat by using mother nature itself against him. Whatever. It was whatever. He would just have to get stronger and beat Ruby up later. “Cheap shots? Whatever. The weather’s a cheap shot too, if you wanna stoop that low. Next time, I won’t be so forgiving. Got it? Good. My nose can’t handle your scent any longer.” Silver pinched the bridge of his nose and hurried off down the winding route. Mumu gained +2 levels to [Lv 13]! Mumu wants to learn Protect! Forget move? Ruby gently shook his head as he noticed the scowl on Silver's face over what he had to say. "I have none. I was loved by my parents, my father did expect me to be a Pokemon trainer to replace him as the gym leader but I proved to him that I was still a strong trainer even though I was more focused on Pokemon contests." He rolled his eyes over the snear that his opponent gave him. "Can you say the same thing?" Ruby couldn't help but to notice that Silver appeared to be defensive over him saying that he had so e sort of childhood trauma but it could also be because Silver was getting annoyed with him because he wasn't cowering over what the red haired trainer was saying.
He gripped his hands into fists as he saw the way that the red haired trainer had used his heel to kick the Cyndaquil, it was bringing back bad memories of how he had treated the Feebas back in Hoen and called it ugly and made fun of it not being able to wing the beauty contests only for it to come back to help him out and evolved into the beautiful Milotic. "When you learn to care for your Pokemon then I will stop telling you on how to raise your Pokemon. Until that happens then I am going to continue to drill it into you since no pokemon deserves to be treated cruely by anyone especially by their own trainer." Ruby unlenched his fists.
Mumu moved his head at where the Cyndaquil rushed to hoping that he could land a hit before the water stops exiting from his his mouth. He started to pant when the attack finally landed on the Cyndaquil forcing it to collapse onto the ground in a heap. Mumu turned around to look at Ruby. "Well done Mumu." Ruby gave a bright smile at Mumu proud of his Pokemon. He pulled out a poke ball. "Mumu, return." Mumu disappeared into his Poke ball. Ruby put the poke ball away. "I am not a nerd. Also I prefer the term 'smarter than you' since it is obvious who is the smarter trainer." He pulled out a new poke ball. "Rara, return." Rara disappeared into her poke ball.
Ruby grabbed the cash that was tossed at his face in anger. He hoped that he would be able to face the red haired trainer in more battles so that he would be able to help the opponent to care for his own Pokemon in stead of treating them with cruelty. "None of my Pokemon can use moves that change the weather. You are the one who decided to face me in the pouring rain and was confident that you could win regardless of it. If you are going to blame the weather on why you lost then you may as well blame your self for not thinking of what disadvantage you were at." Ruby had no idea if Silver had heard him or not. He walked away in search of a new Pokemon.

Ruby defeated Silver and as he did so, the rain stopped falling...leaving behind a chill on the air. It wasn't pleasant given how everything and everyone was soaked through from that downpour, but...at least it wasn't actively raining anymore. Pokemon were starting to poke their heads out again. Looking. Watching. And while all seemed calm, there was an upset screech from a child nearby. If Ruby investigated, he would find a child, no older than four, losing a tug of war match with a rattata over a bag of chips. "Give it baaaaack!" the child whined, losing their grip. "These are miiiiine. You can't have them. Mama said...said it was bad to feed wild pokemons. So stoooop iiiit!" The rattata thrashed its head and the bag of chips suddenly exploded! Snacks rain down on the ground. Victory! The poor child wailed. "Noooo, gonna be in trouble."

Ruby shivered slightly when the rain had stopped, he was glad it had lasted for his battle against Silver since it did make Mumu's battle easier, but now he had to deal with being cold and wet. He made his way back to Newbark Town to find a safe place to change his clothing. "Man, I wish I had a fire type Pokemon to help me to dry my clothing." Ruby mumbled to himself.
He made his way back to the route to resume his search for a Pokemon, soon enough he stopped when he heard the screech from what sounded like a child.
Ruby made his way towards where the screech had come from and saw a small child playing a game of tug of war with a Rattata over a bag of chips. He raised an eyebrow slightly as he was confused over the sight he had observed.
Ruby remained where he was and watched the interaction not sure if the Rattata was the young boy's family Pokemon or if it was a wild Pokemon. He pulled out a poke ball when he finally heard the answer.
Before he could do anything to help the young boy, the bag of chips exploded onto the ground. Ruby stuck the poke ball away and pulled out a new one. "Rara, I choose you." He was in a rush and decided to not use his normal roll call for his psychic Pokemon. Rara appeared by Ruby. Her eyes glowed purple as she levitated the chips and bag into the air, she put the chips back into bag.
Ruby replaced the poke ball with the one he just had gotten out. "Regardless of the effects of time, the cuteness that this body encompasses never changes. Oozing Cute Charm from her body, this is the Pokemon Skitty - Kiki!" Kiki appeared in front of Rara. "If you want the chips, Rattata, then you need to beat my Pokemon." Ruby looked down at Kiki. "Kiki, use Fake Out." Kiki started racing around in a circle after her tail, the circle started to get bigger and bigger until the circle reached the Rattata. She then slammed into the wild Pokemon.

Playing wasn't exactly a good word for the tug of war occurring in front of Ruby. It was a war of wills, certainly, but playing? Meh. Maybe for the rat. The boy looked on the verge of tears and was wiping his face between trying to pick up chips and avoiding nips from the hungry rat. Fortunately, Ruby sent out a couple of pokemon to save the day. First was the ralts that started to put the ruined chips back in the bag, drawing the rat's attention, and then it was skitty, who he introduced with a dramatic call to action. The boy looked up, eyes round with confusion. "Wait. A trainer come to the rescue!" the boy declared with child-like hopefulness. He watched as the rat charged the skitty in frustration, only to get tail smacked back for its efforts. "HA. Take that." The boy giggled some. "You're so cool!"
