Saurobix seemed keen enough on what to do. Drawing a bit backwards, he was quick to shift all his weight to his front enough to dart forwards, in a top heavy tackle. The Wurmple was forced backwards, the vines of energy sucking power that had wrapped around it still sitting there, waiting to suck up more of the precious HP it needed. The Wurmple didn't seem to amused, and with quick movements, itspat out a flurry of silken strings, all of which were aimed at Saurobix. It wound the strings around the Bulbasaur's small body, wrapping it up, just as he had done to it the turn before. Saurobix fought against the strings, trying to scratch his way out of the binding threads. With quick movements, he was finally able too. but the sticky feeling remained, and he felt his speed drop. With a shiver, he watched as some of the Wurmple's energy was sucked up by the vines that entangled it. ______________________________________________________ Hey, Hey, it's Bulbasaur VS. Wurmple! With the light rain paused, Alex could finally watch the battle in a clearer view. He saw the wild wurmple struggled in its vines, and further weakened by the combination of the leech seed and forceful tackle.
He did not hesitate further. The wurmple looked weak enough, and he really wanted to catch his first pokemon. He grabbed a small sphere from his pockets, and it automatically enlarged in his hands, ready for capture.
He zealously threw the pokemon, aiming at the bug pokemon. The sphere opened up in midair, releasing a stream of darting, red ray, encapsulating the probably unfortunate pokemon. Now, the novice trainer watched as the pokeball wiggled...

With the light rain finished, the battle could continue easier for the novice trainer and his Pokemon, Saurobix. Wurmple was feeling a bit tired, which was to be expected, although with Leech Seed Saurobix was quickly regaining slight bits of health while taking away from Wurmple. The worm let out a soft cry before waiting to get attacked once more, although the pain and intimidation never came. Instead, the trainer was planning something, so the Wurmple had ample amount of time to catch it's breath while the boy threw something. As the capsule swirled toward the Pokemon, Wurmple blinked and prepared for an attack. Instead, it never came. The ball didn't pass over the Pokemon either. Instead, like a magnet, it flew towards it until it hit Wurmple. Immediately, it was sucked into the capsule with a flash of light. Wurmple strugged once... twice... the ball shook with each great heave the Pokemon gave in it's attempts to escape. However, the ball soon stopped it's shaking, and Saurobix cantered over to examine the ball. Wurmple had been successfully caught! It was up to Alex to figure out what to do with it. You successfully caught the Wurmple! Saurobix fought and defeated the wild Wurmple! For the efforts, Saurobix gains 2 levels! Saurobix learned the attack 'Vine Whip'! OOC: WurmpleName: Tackzill Gender: female Level: 7 Attacks: Tackle, String Shot, Poison Sting Ability: Shield Dust Nature/Personality: A shy and timid wurmple, the unfortunate Tackzill fell off from the nest of her family and was captured. Would this bug pokemon be able to grow and gain her confidence, and braveness from the novice trainer (or his other annoyingly headstrong pokemons)? Etymology: "Tack"- short from attack "zill"- short from "zillion" IC: Alex was tensed as he watched the pokeball wobbling in the wet grass. After all this was the first pokemon he caught, in addition to being the first bug type pokemon. Voila! The pokeball stopped shaking. Saurobix, who was inching forward slowly to observe the ball, and fearing the worm would escape for another fight, shouted a prideful "Saur! Saur! Saaaauuuur!", since he helped with the capture. And, he helped in weakening the pokemon. Hey, Saurobix is a proud fighter. Alex walked up and acquired his successfully captured pokeball. His tension relieved, knowing that he had caught his first pokemon. Now would this pokemon evolve into a Dustox, or a Beautifly? Only time would tell. However, in that case, he needed to look for another wurmple to evolve to the other evolution line. He heartily shouted a few "Yes!" in his head. Now that the rain cleared up, Alex changed his mind about visiting the Pokemon Center to wait out the rain. However, after two battles, he thought it would be a good idea to sit down and eat some meals, while acquainting with his new pokemons. With Saurobix on the side, he tossed two pokeballs up in the air, releasing an energetic, orange chic, and a scared, whimpering worm. Saurobix on the other hand paid no attention and was lifting its legs side to side, as if stretching, tilting his body left and right. Well, this was definitely chaotic since the pokemons did not want to bother with each other. Doesn't matter to Alex, though. He would figure this acquainting matter eventually. Now he needed to fill his belly. He grabbed a big tray from his backpack and filled it with pokefood. Immediately the pokemon gathered around. Saurobix the bulbasaur, using its vines, picked up bits of food and ate it in moderate speed. Rosthrem the torchic pecked at the food energetically, the pokefood on her side immediately disappeared. Tackzill the wurmple, being shy and new to the group, slowly and hesitantly chomp on the food. Popping open a plastic bag of snack, Alex stood a few steps away, observing his pokemons' eating behavior. Definitely this might take work to get them to cooperate with each other, but at least, they are not fighting. About a minute later, close to half the portion of the food were gone, however, Alex saw a different light of his pokemon. The hasty torchic, while she was pecking her food away, was inching closer to the portion of the wurmple. Her feathery head bumped lightly against the wurmple. Notice her lack of control, she paused and stared at the worm pokemon, and chirped merrily as she yielded and let the timid worm eat. Saurobix, on the other hand, was still minding his own business and his portion. Perhaps, somehow the pokemon had their own idea of splitting food up. Therefore, for starters, Alex did not have to worry about bullying of food, at least for now. (somewhere here the group thread taking place)After the creatures finished eating, Alex returned all his pokemon back into their pokeball, with a stream of zipping red light. He smiled as he marched on the route to Cherrygrove City, hopefully encountering more pokemon that were listed in the brochure, and strengthen his wurmple into one of the flapping bugs. OOC: nothing special, ha

"HooHoo!" Well, it seemed Alex had ruined someone's lunch. The Wurmple he had just captured? Well yes, that was kind of sort of Hoothoot's next meal. With a low warning croon, it stared down at Alex from the branch it was perched on. It's eyes were cold, crimson gaze down on the ground, like someone had just tired to cook it for dinner. The Plump bird hopped down from the branch and landed in front of the man, stubby wings outstretched in front of it as it seemed to be trying to intimidate him. It had been following him since he had captured the Wurmple. With a flap of its wings, it tried to further intimidate the man in front of it with warning crows. It wasn't going to stand for this. Sure he had only done what a trainer was doing, but if this bird was going to stay up for the daytime, well...that Wurmple was its lunch... _____________________________________________________ Warning! Wild Hoothoot (Level 5) is upset with you!

Alex suddenly stopped on his step as a wild, and mean hoothoot flew down and stopped right before him. The feathered pokemon growled a low and intense crow. He tried to take another step forward, but the hoothoot hopped and blocked him from moving. Looks like he had to make his way out of this situation, but since he could not speak pokemon, he might have to find another way. He reached his hands into his pocket and pulled up three pokeballs, reasoning who to call out. Should he call out Saurobix? Sure, the green dinosaur had a few battles, but he wanted to get his wurmple out of his shyness as well. So should he let the wurmple fight? Mayb-- no, it was already shy, and this nasty hoothoot might not be merciful. What about the chic pokemon? He had no clue how to handle a pokemon specie outside of his favorites and specialty. Hm... He pondered as the hoothoot slowly inched forward with its hop and active vocal chord. The hoothoot flapped its wings as it moved forward, intimidating the human. He had to do something. In a rush of thought and no time to lose, he and his pokemon had to defend themselves. (Mostly his pokemon doing the defending.) He looked again at his option, stared, and made a decision. "Show this pokemon your beak," Alex tossed out a pokeball. Of course, this pokemon hasn't learn to use its powerful beak yet. The ball was released from his hand, and hit the wet grass in a muffled, metallic ding. The sphere opened itself, bursting an organized ray of red light, and an orange, feathered and beaked pokemon appeared on the field. "Chi--" Rosthrem chirped cheerfully for a split second, and immediately changed her tone as she saw the mean bird pokemon. "Chic, chic-- TORR!" the pokemon growled back as she bent her back slightly forward, pointing her beak at the opponent. "Let's show this pokemon we would not back down," Alex shouted. "Rosthrem, Scratch it with your talons!" He ordered. He also added, with energy, and pointing the hoothoot defiantly, "I don't know why you are attacking me, but we could resolve this if I understand why you are attacking me."Really, he thought to himself. The only type of pokemon attacks he would encounter should be eager trainers, not pokemon. And also, does pokemon knows what does "resolve" mean? He was confused about this... pokemon. What do you call this? Another one of those he don't care too much about, haha.

The Hoothoot was determined to get Alex back after capturing it's meal. So as the boy tried to take a step away, the avian hopped forward to block it, cooing and flapping angrily as if trying to tell him to stop. Digging it's claws into the ground, it's large eyes stared murderously as Alex finally took a step back and brought out three Pokeballs to decide from. No matter the opponent, the wild Hoothoot wasnt going to let up. It was starving after merely stalking the bug and now that it was gone, the bird was just in a foul mood. Even a desperate grumble from it's gut echoed through the air, the bird opening it's eyes that bit wider in surprise. Feeling a little embarrassed after this boy most likely heard it's grumbling belly, the Hoothoot cooed angrily once again.
Dragging it's talons against the ground as the trainer finally picked his Pokemon, the bird flinched due to the bright light but eventually settled it's gaze on it's opponent. Blinking as the Torchic went from cute to deadly serious, the Hoothoot shook it's body from side to side wearily. This was it's opponent? Well, it was obviously time to show just who was the superior bird. Running across the dirt path with an interesting burst of speed, despite being so hungry, the owl glared at the Torchic before letting out a fearsome battle coo in attempt to shake some nerve into the fiery chick. Bounding into the air, the chunky bird propelled it's round body forward with a bit of help from it's tiny wings.
Crashing into the Torchic with a fierce tackle, the feeling of her warm feathers was almost comforting. Or atleast until Rosthrem retaliated. Shrieking as the Hoothoot's body pinned into her chest, a small glint seemed to sparkle from the corner of her eyes. With a high pitch chirp, the little Torchic used every ounce of power to hit back. Pushing herself up from the ground, the tiny chic managed to back flip, raking her clawed feet up against the Hoothoot's face, causing it to hoot out in pain.

After being blocked by the hoothoot for a while and releasing Rosthrem, Alex was surprised by the sudden growl of the wild pokemon. Of course, it was too late to do something since both pokemon were in battle mode. Not to mention, the meal time earlier had depleted a third of his food for pokemon.
However, that rumbling of its belly does not stop the famished pokemon from attacking. The opponent managed to hit Rosthrem while she was able to retaliate with a scratch. Alex did not paid attention at all as his mind was thinking what to do. Would it be ethical to fight a hungry wild pokemon? Or be generous to give food to a wild pokemon and go away? He had no clue, but somewhere from a documentary he knew that doctors would have to make ethical decisions when dealing with diseased or injured patients, what about pokemon?
Not paying attention, he searched his mostly empty bag for something to negotiate with. Simultaneously his chic pokemon, probably the most energetic and possibly the only hot-headed party member, was ready for another strike as its talons were glowing a neon, burning orange color. Alex managed to reopen his bag of pokemon food, and grabbed a handful to toss at the wild pokemon.
He paused to watch as his torchic attacked with her own. He was both surprised (again) and disappointed. Surprise that his chic pokemon learn this move he faintly remember from watching pokemon battles as a kid... Was this, Slash? No, Slash does not make body parts glow. Something claw? Obviously those are talons. His mind watched and ran with thoughts, and finally a name struck. Night Slash. He remembered a Persian battling some thing used this move.
The torchic was dashing forward with her glowing talons and ready for a strike on the hoothoot.
Alex, after figuring out the pokemon move, tossed powerfully his handful of snack in the air, shouting, "Here we goes!"
The snack dropped to the wet grass. Hopefully this would make this crowing pokemon less aggressive. Hopefully these snacks won't attract other pokemon into the fray, but that would be unlikely because they don't smell much to him through his human nose. Maybe the wurmple he caught earlier or this pokemon have better sense of smell than humans. Heh.
OOC: I can't decide if torchic needs to use night slash with its talons or beak. I also know that normally pokemon would follow commands, but I have to give this torchic some personality lolz.

The Hoothoot pushed itself up from the damp ground wearily after being viciously scratched by it's opponent. Turning with great haste, the avian focused it's crimson gaze angrily on the Torchic as she hopped from one foot to the other. The chic was fiery to say the least, but a bit of young energy wasn't about to put a stop on this owl's plan. One thing it had learnt by living out in this wilderness was that it had the tendency to send other Pokemon to sleep. It wasn't one hundred percent sure how it happened either, no matter how heavy it concentrated on it's deep staring, sleep would only befall on the opponent occasionally, so some training was still needed in that department. But really, now was a battle, so what was the harm in giving it a go? Perhaps it could even hypnotize the trainer, release the Wurmple and gobble it up still!
Liking the sound of it's plan in the back of it's mind, the Hoothoot seemed to smirk evilly before staring at Rosthrem. About to put it's hypnotizing skills to the test, a sudden scatter of food before it was quick to distract the starving bird. Blinking at the several bits of Poke food, the Hoothoot didn't even think twice about it perhaps being a trap, it's belly so hungry that it couldn't help but lunge in for a bite. Chomping down about two pieces, it had already forgotten about the battle at hand but it was soon about to be reminded. Her talons glowing eerily, Rosthrem took a flying jump forward at the eating Hoothoot, attacking in the similar way to scratch, only this time leaving a trail of dark mass behind her movement. It also proved affective, as the Hoothoot was kicked back like a rag doll and sent tumbling through the soggy blades of grass. Having it'd mind muddled with thoughts ranging from food to madness, the bird didn't really think straight. Instead of following it's original hypnotizing plan, it instead let out a threatening growl. The loud decibels sending the odd shiver down Torchic's spine.

Watching the bird's reaction, Alex was disappointed that the angry pokemon only ate a few pieces before continuing on battling, letting a loud and evil vibration of the owl's larynx. He watched as his Rosthrem's talons glowed a dark light and knocked the opposing pokemon in the distance. He noted that the opposing pokemon is weakened, and landed on the grass. Instead of getting up, however, the foe only let loose a growl. Does it have energy left to battle? Should he just finish this pokemon off? There's food on the ground, so maybe if he just knock it out, it might wake up later and eat. Then again, the pokemon looked weak. Perhaps, he thought, he could let his wurmple fight a battle and evolve. Yes, he cannot wait. The thought of this was exciting to him. Hahaha! Beautifly? Dustox? What will it be? Not to mention, he wanted to get this pokemon over with and look for a pokemon he would rather be interested in. Alex held out a pokeball, giving his gratitude to the energetic torchic, "You did a great job! Let Tackzill fight some too!"While saying that, he just thought how coincident this would be since both Rosthrem and Tackzill were his new pokemon, both fighting the same foe. After saying this, a stream of red light came from the pokeball, enveloping Rosthrem and she disappeared with the light, back to rest in the pokeball. He tossed out another pokeball, shouting the wurmple's name. Out from the ball, a shy wurmple let out a whimper. "You can do this," the trainer spoke, "hit it with a Tackle!"Tackzill the wurmple, despite being shy, gave pokemon battling a try. She crawled as fast as she can on the grass, heading toward the (currently) rather bothersome hoothoot. Was this a good idea? Rosthrem was doing well. But he wanted the bug pokemon to battle as well. How would this pokemon react? OOC: swap to wurmple, it use tackle. if the wurmple hit and and the hoothoot fainted, it should evolve to Silcoon since it is still day as far as I know, but I wouldn't mind it to evolve to Cascoon to match the name better, since Tackzill is supposed to be "attack" and "zillion", like a dustox attacking with a zillion dusts (nudge nudge wink wink) and in the case it evolves to a cascoon, you can save me the hassle of renaming it in Goldenrod XD

The wild Hoothoot flinched in surprise as the trainer called out to his Torchic, holding up a single Pokeball. The owl had seen this things tossed at wild Pokemon's head and it sure knew that it wasnt going to be getting dragged into one without a fight! Buffering up with a new found spurt of power, the Hoothoot pushed out it's chest and cooed deeply, reading itself to attack and dodge. Amazingly, the ball in Alex's hands wasn't intended for the owl but more his Torchic. Blinking as the trainer withdrew his Pokemon, the Hoothoot braced itself, hoping that now a few bits of food had been thrown at it, the trainer would just side step away and move on. This wasnt the case as instead yet another ball was lifted between his fingertips. Frowning, the avian waited with narrowed eyes as the releasing light flashed, the Hoothoot chuckling with utter delight at the sight of what popped out. It's dinner!
Completely forgetting about the pain it was suffering, the Hoothoot cooed with excitement and sped forward, not even giving the poor Wurmple a chance to full realize what was going on. The swap in counted as a turn, allowing the Hoothoot to sneak in a powerful tackle, toppling the bug backwards. Startled by this sudden attack, Tackzill shuddered in pain, using string shot on a near by leaf to help pull it back up. Feeling it's feelers touch the ground once again, she sighed heavily, not seeing the Hoothoot come back for round two! Shrieking as she flew through the air once again, the tiny bug felt her squishy body twinge in pain as she struck a tree trunk, stiffly rolling back down to the ground with a heavy thump. Hearing Alex's voice call out her order, the tiny bug winced, trying to force her eyes to open wider despite the sudden dual attacks.
The wild Hoothoot licked at it's beak, slowly bouncing forward for one last swoop until Tackzill surprised the avian. Trying her very best to hide any signs of nerves, the bug wiggled forward and with an agile spring, the pointer on it's forehead digging into the wild owl. Gagging in pain, the Hoothoot used it's remaining power to shake the bug off before falling to the ground with a heavy thud. Great! The battle was over and Tackzill was overjoyed, her eyes taking one final look at the sky to determine the time before oddly beginning to glow.

After hitting the hoothoot with her body, the wurmple was elated with the participation in battle. Looking up, the sky was clear, but getting dark again. This time not because it was raining, but because it was evening. How long exactly had Alex began traveling? and battling? Those battles seemed short, but not if both sides were thinking and talking to each other in a sarcastic way.
Alex watched as his wurmple glowed in bright light, evolving, anticipating whatever it would evolve to. One thing was sure though, it was getting late at night and he needed to come back tomorrow in this route to find another wurmple, since he doesn't have pokemon that could illuminate the night path for him.
As soon as his pokemon evolved, he would return his wurmple, and run the hack away from this hoothoot, and other things. Hopefully he won't get lost, and he would definitely come back in the morning, first thing. It was about time to get his feet running.
OOC: evening time. planning what to do after wurmple evolves.

[It doesn't learn Harden since it evolved past level 7.] Congratulations, Tackzill evolved into Cascoon.
Even if it was starting to get late, there were still a few opportunists out looking for a meal, or something to store for later. One of these was a Spearow that had killed a young Spinda and had just finished feeding on it. It wasn't ready to go back for some rest yet though, it felt like staying out a bit longer, if only to fly some more for the day. It felt nice when the sun wasn't full on it's back anyway, it was cooler and Spearow could still see in the dimming light. So of course when it saw a Bug on the ground, about to evolve from the looks of it, it decided that making one more stop would be worth it. A Bug couldn't move when it evolved after all, so it could simply bring it to it's roost and save it until it was ready to eat. Once you got through the shell, a Bug was a good meal, but it could tell that this one was Poison as well, so it knew that it would need to be careful "handling" it when it brought it to the roost. Tackzill couldn't see the Spearow, it was out of her line of sight after all, but she finished evolving, she'd grown into a Cascoon, she couldn't move, but she could feel how safe her shell was. Her body would be protected from pretty much anything except a fire, and luckily there probably weren't many fires around here anyway. Though after she'd finished her evolution, she heard something land next to her and looked, another bird had landed next to her, a Spearow, and it didn't look like it wanted to be friends. Wild Spearow [Level 8] wants to eat Tackzill!

Alex had to covered his eyes and turned his body away from the light as the wurmple evolved in a pretty bright light. That light was probably one of the few lights that remained while the sky darkened. While the light was glowing and changing in the angle of luminance, he heard a sound of something landed near him. After the light ended, he was happy to see his wurmple evolved into a cascoon, a purple embodiment of colorful moth that would arise from the encasing. He also saw a spearow standing next to the cascoon. This avian, as far as he know, was native to Kanto, and some of them have migrated to Sinnoh, so he was familiar to what they were, somewhat. They have small beaks, but would evolve into a bigger, fierce pokemon with a large and thin beak. He wasn't particularly fond of spearows, but he certainly would go for a little fight. He returned the cascoon and tossed out another pokeball. Out from the red light a green dinosaur appeared. "Saur!" Saurobix stared straight at the opponent. He did not even bother to look at the trainer, perhaps his battling personality was getting to him. "Saurobix," the trainer shouted, "hit him with a Leech Seed."Leech seed, perhaps, was one of his favorite grass type moves, as it drains the opponent of strength to continue battling. Now, he watched as the battle unfold itself and deciding whether he would catch this pokemon. After all, he just fought a red-eyes and one legged bird pokemon, which he still did not know the name. He also had just tossed food pieces around, which that pokemon did not get to finish eating them. How was it possible that this pokemon did not smell or see the food? Was it because it was getting dark? He also hoped that poor avian pokemon he just fought earlier would not get further injured in this battle. Now, would he need this pokemon? It wasn't a plant or bug pokemon, which were his focus. Nor was this like the chic pokemon who just hatched, which he could not control. Nor this pokemon is pokemon that are not grass or bug type but hold importance. He would have to observe to see what this pokemon could do. He was also getting hungry since he was out too long. OOC: So, as far as I know the scenery now, it is evening dark blue sky kind of dark. A spearow landed on the site where a hoothoot just fainted, where I just tossed food pieces on the grass. to future mods, I hope the hoothoot eventually regain consciousness and fly away or something a single turn double battle would not be anticipated haha

Saurobix sucked in a breath, surveying the situation. This didn't look like something he'd want to be involved in, but a battle was a battle. As the bird advanced on the newly formed Cascoon, it readied its beak, possibly to break through the delicate creature's shell. Though Saurobix wasn't ready to let one of his teammates get eaten. He turned on the other creature and launched a single seed. Out of the corner of its eye, the Spearow spotted this act and fled from the way, the seed hitting the oak behind it and covering the large trunk with energy sapping vines. It has easily evaded, but it didn't seem to forget it could have fallen victim to a leech seed. It watched as the Hoothoot got up, took some of the food on the ground to regain its strength, and flew away using its rather stubby wings to propel it. The Spearow then again rounded on Saurobix, deciding what to do with the other creature. Finally, it decided, launching forwards and slamming its beak into Saurobix's bulb. However, the Bulbasaur saw this, though in pain, as an opportunity. Another seed shot from the bulb on his back, launching and landing in between the bird's shoulder blades. As the Spearow flew back to where it was meant to be, the seed cracked open, several vines wrapping around the creature and knocking it to the ground while sapping some energy to give back to Saurobix. ______________________________________________________ Hey, Hey, it's Bulbasaur VS.
