OOC: Thanks kat for taking care the hoothoot! IC: With the battlefield in a mess and day turning into night, he needed to hurry up and finish the battle. He prepared himself as the spearow headed toward the cascoon, but bulbasaur helped defend his teammate. Amazing! He watched as his bulbasaur attempting to launch a leech seed on the spearow. Despite not showing emotion on his face, he was satisfied that the seed landed. Alex watched the battle, and noticed that in the dark corner, the hoothoot got up and managed to flew away from the battle. He was comforted that the hoothoot had merely fainted and not completely obliterated from living, in other words, dead. After looking at the hoothoot, he was refreshing his memory of the previous battle, and that his newly hatched pokemon had a move, a glowing move whose name he could not remember again... Light Slash? Color Slash? What was it?... "Buuuulbaaa!" Saurobix sneered at the spearow, whose beak pecked hard on the bulb. However, the leech seed he launched had helped him to regain strength. The battle cry of his pokemon brought his mind back to the field. Once again he remembered he needed to hurry this battle. He thought to himself his options, then he held out two pokeballs. "Return, Tackzill and Saurobix," he spoke in a tired voice. Tackzill was of course ready to return to her pokeball and not getting harassed by another avian. Hark no! Saurobix, being an eager fighter, was surprised himself, but an order was an order. Two beams of light shot from the pokeballs, and the two pokemon disappeared after the flash. Alex held out another pokeball and tossed hard in the air, "Go, Rosthrem!"The pokeball was thrown in the air, and it opened with light from the device. An orange chic pokemon came out of the sphere. "Hit the spearow with your Sla--" he paused to brain storm the actual name. As if the newborn pokemon understood the order, Rosthrem's feet glowed purplish black again as she charged her power and ready to attack the opponent. "Night Slash!" he suddenly remembered. Perhaps because he only remember the slash part, or because this time the pokemon was attacking at night, but the name finally came out clearer. He made a vow to himself to remember this move for the future, and to use this move a few more times until the name sticks. Now he watched as his pokemon attack the avian... OOC: returned both bulbasaur and cascoon then have torchic use night slash (technically cascoon is in the field but not attacking, for sake of continuity )

Spearow snickered as the plant Pokemon was recalled, but at the same time, its lunch had gone away. Well, that was indeed a problem. A huff escaped the bird's beak as it waited for the trainer to send out his next choice. When he didn't the bird let out a poorly contained chuckle. A chick? How dumb was this trainer? "Spearrrow!" It cried out. Rosthrem would be a mere snack to it once it had a chance to sink its beak into the tiny orange bird. Talk about your daily dose of cannibalism. The Spearow sucked in a deep breath of air, readying itself to release a menacing growl, which it did not long after. The Growl carried across to Rosthrem, making her shiver as she felt her attack lower. This didn't deter the Spearow. She cried out as it flew around her, trying to sink its beak into her feathers. Finally it did, making her draw back in pain. She shook it off moments later though. Something stirred within the frightened chick, and she launched herself forwards. One of her talon's glowing a fearsome purpleish black, she drew it harshly over the Spearow's wing, the harsh contact causing the other bird to shriek. Had that been a critical hit? The vines binding the Spearow had not been broken either, as the sapped more energy from it, and returned it to the orange chick. _____________________________________________________ Hey, Hey, it's Torchic VS. While Alex was watching the fight between bulbasaur and spearow, and torchic and spearow, he noticed something that he did not notice while fighting the hoothoot earlier. This bird can fly a great height, perhaps even more if it had evolved into a fearow. But, how would he put this flight height into use? He thought about that for a moment...
First of all, his main interests were grass and bug type pokemon whose biochemistry can come into play to help humans to recover from diseases and injuries. However, what about bird? Birds are used rarely in medicine, if at all. Not to mention, this bird has greater flight ability than a lot of bugs that he knows. If anything, this bird managed dodged the first launch of leech seed with its keen eyes and speed. Gotcha! this bird can fly high and fast, and can spot things that otherwise most pokemon would missed. Perhaps, this spearow would make a great scout to rescue people...
Alex grabbed an empty pokeball out of his backpack, and hurled at it toward the bird, shouting "Heyyah!"

This battle had been a right mish mash of different things. Tackzill's evolution was what had stirred the Spearow into flying in their direction in the first place but even then, the trainer it was up against was nothing short of odd. He had tossed in and taken out about two different Pokemon, neither of which happened to be suitable opponent's in the Spearow's opinion. The Bulbasaur tried to act all tough but with a few sharp attacks it had gone running back to the safety of it's Pokeball. Even the watching Cascoon is had dubbed it's supper had been withdrawn. Staring fiercely with it's beady eyes, the scruffy avian instead focused on the problem at hand, ruffling it's chest feathers after being so viciously kicked by the Torchic in front of it. She was fiery, the Spearow could give her that compliment, but she wasn't strong enough to defeat this bird. If anything, Rosthrem had merely landed a lucky blow, it was distracted by the nasty seeds planted within it's feathers.
Trying to nip at a few as the trainer before the bird fell into deep thought, it sure was an awkward few moments. The Spearow's beak couldnt quite reach the sapping seed lodged in it's wing, no matter how much it tried to twist and stretch. Almost forgetting about the battle, the Spearow eventually gave up with an angered coo, squawking shortly after as it was suddenly smacked right in the face! Expecting it to have been the Torchic, it was horrified to be face to face with a Pokeball. Being far too late to turn and flap away to safety, the Spearow winced as a red light dragged it inside. Closing and falling to the floor with a tap, it began to shake from side to side, the bird inside trying it's best to wrestle it's way out. Unfortunately for the bird, it's attempt at trying to break free failed.
WIGGLE. WIGGLE. WIGGLE. TING!
Congratulations!

SpearowName: Scarout Gender: Male Level: 8 Attacks: Peck. Growl, Leer Ability: Keen Eye Nature/Personality: Lonely An adventurous and curious Spearow, Scarout likes to be flying on his own looking for things or matters that could catch his attention. Although he was caught by Alex for his flying ability, would his friendship with Alex and other pokemon would also take flight? to whoever adding this spearow: if you remember and have time, can you delete delete etymology on all my pokemon as I already made a separate post on my profile for that, thanks! IC: The sky was getting dark, and Alex could only rely on his pokeball's magnetic ability to draw close to the pokemon. He heard the spearow struggled as it hopped on the ground about something, rustling the leaves. As the ball hit it, he saw the surrounding briefly and clearly in the small flash of light. The spearow looked as if it was tending its feathers, or more like the leech seed he ordered his bulbasaur to launch earlier. Anyways, after the ball hit the pokemon, he waited nervously as the ball wiggled. In a few wobble and a ding, the pokemon was confirmed to be caught. He grabbed a pokeball returning his Rosthrem. Then, he also walked forward and grabbed the pokeball he had caught the spearow earlier. However, the sky was getting dark and he could not hunt wurmple further, he ran as fast as he could with the light in the distance, where Cherrygrove pokemon center is. After checking in a room and getting himself cleaned and fed, he too grabbed his pokemon and fed them in the small park/lot/square that the pokemon center allow non-staff visitors' pokemon to be out. He noted to himself as he noticed he had quite a few pokemon today. First, he claimed his first pokemon, a bulbasaur. Then, a Lopunny had gifted him a torchic. Yup, he just found out the species name using the pokemon center computers. Then, he had caught a wurmple who had evolved into a cascoon. And lastly, he caught a spearow. Tomorrow morning he would have to return to route 29 and catch one more wurmple before moving to route 30. He noticed something again as the pokemon were eating dinner. The spearow seemed to slowly and lightly kicking his plate away from the ground, at least a small distance to eat by himself. Alex walked toward him and sat down, petting the bird's feather, hopefully to warm it up. It squawked as it was startled. "Why are you touching me?" his eyes glared. The trainer ignored his glare, but did hands off as he returned to feed the cascoon who could not eat on her own. His bulbasaur, as usual, was eating with his vines. His torchic, also as usual, was pecking away her food much quicker. Soon, those two were done eating first. The bulbasaur, as if intrigued by flying pokemon again, scooped some food with his vines and offered to the spearow. At first he was hesitant, but the smile of bulbasaur invited the spearow to be at ease with his new change of lifestyle, the change from living in the wild to living with unusual combination of pokemon and a human. His bulbasaur seemd to like pokemon who flies, such as when he was chasing the butterfree earlier the day after he got his first pokemon... Could this be possible? The torchic, on the other hand, was lying on the cascoon, as if warming it up with her body. Alex watched his four pokemon strangely before continuing feeding his cascoon. After his observant meal-feeding, Alex returned his pokemon. He went inside the pokemon center and saw an advertisement for a tentacool, he shot an email to the sales person, hoping the pokemon was not sold. Tentacool, and tentacruel, with their water typing and appendages, could help grabbing people who might be drowning in the ocean. Then, he also sent an email to his parents about his new adventure, and how the pokemon he caught would help him... except his torchic which he have not found a way to utilize her to full potentials. After he finished with this, he headed his room for a good night sleep. In the morning, he got himself ready and decided to not check out of his room, since he would be around cherrygrove city for a while. There he saw a familiar face, Haven, and they had a few battles. After battling, he continued looking for a wurmple as his feet rustled through the dry grass, under the warm morning sun. OOC: basically, my character went to CGC, but returned to route 29. no big deal, and sky changed from night to morning.

In the grassy field nearby, another creature was also looking for a Wurmple, albeit for different reasons. A Sentret dashed through the swaying blades of grass, sniffing the ground as it meandered through the field. Pausing slightly, the Sentret cocked its floppy ears to the side, listening intently for any sound that might alert it to predators... Or to a tasty Wurmple snack. Loud footsteps nearby alerted the scout Pokemon to a potential threat. Lifting itself up on the tip of its tail, it peered over the long grass, beady eyes searching for the source of the noise. It quickly spotted the potentially deadly creature making such a racket: a trainer. The Sentret rolled its eyes. Of course. It was always a trainer in these parts. Sighing, the scout Pokemon lowered itself back to the ground, keeping low to the ground as it slunk off. Trainers were fun, sure, but this Sentret rather liked its freedom. It didn't want to spend the rest of its days locked in a tiny sphere...
Strangely, the sounds from the trainer weren't getting any softer. Perturbed, the Sentret picked up the pace, half-running through the grass to escape. Suddenly, it slammed right into the trainer's leg. The Sentret let out a groan as it rolled onto its back, cracking one eye open to peer at the trainer. Great. The curse of having a terrible sense of direction had struck again. Sighing, the Sentret stood up on its tail, puffing itself up to look intimidating and chirping like it was angry. Truthfully, the Sentret was quite happy to be battling, and was excited to fight this boy.
A directionally-challenged Sentret (level 7) would like to battle! Choose which Pokemon you will use!

"Ou," he said as something hit him in the leg.
Alex then turned and saw a pokemon hit him. As he looked, the pokemon got up and looked as if ready for a fight. Now, his leg still felt some pain, after all, being hit by a big furry ball of motion was not something recommended, even if the furs reduce the pain a little. Just a little.
The pokemon stood on its tail (really now?) and shouted a battle cry, ready for battle. Alex responded by tossing out a pokeball to battle. Out from the flash of light from the pokeball, a lavender, silken ball of pokemon with two eyes appeared.
"Cascoon, Poison Sting!" Alex shouted, hoping to land a poisoning. He was being tactical, maybe a little bit unethical to poison such clumsy pokemon.
He also have no intention of catching this pokemon, but he could use a bit of training for his cascoon and bulbasaur...

Perking its ears up at the sight of Cascoon, it was unsure of how to approach it. It was familiar with the inhabitants of the particular ecosystem it was situated in but this was something it had never laid eyes on upon before. Its curious eyes and immobile body didn't exactly remind it of anything it had encountered before. Unsuspecting as it was, it was actually the evolved form of something it knew all too well, that of the Wurmple snacks that it loved so. While not quite making the connection, the Sentret hopped on the spot as it landed onto all four of its paws. Happy that the trainer had at least decided to accept its thrown down gauntlet, the Sentret got ready to attack as soon as it heard Alex call out to his cocoon Pokemon. Despite being quite lithe on its feet, the unthinkable happened. Not quite able to go along in a straight line without becoming that of a Zigzagoon, the Sentret went to attack but became all too diverted from its goal. Shifting her eyes from side to side, Tackzill seemed to watch the Sentret move around in futile before tilting her shell from side to side as if shaking her head. Rearing back, the cocoon finally had enough and let out a poisonous stinger that flew in a precise straight line, as if mocking the Sentret's inability. Looking as if it was about to miss, Tackzill had been right off the mark and stung the Sentret right on its side as it ran into the attack. Suddenly relenting, the furry critter looked particularly woozy... Poison Stung had actually pumped some poison into the Pokemon's veins! Considering how bad it felt, the Sentret let out a small growl before curling up into a neat little ball, its tail wrapping around it to make it look like a stripy football. Wild Battle

To his surprise, Alex did not initially expect the fur ball to be poisoned, but Tackzill's poison sting landed a poison anyways. Now that the wild pokemon was poisoned, he decided to shift the battle a bit with this more offensive pokemon, since the cascoon was not exactly a dustox yet who can attack on her own.
He held out a pokeball to return the pokemon, a familiar action that he had been doing quite a lot lately. Then, another familiar action, he fished his pokeball. However, which one should he call out next? The hyperactive torchic or the scoffing, snide spearow he just caught? He closed his eyes and picked one pokeball.
"Go, join the battle!" he gently tossed the pokeball in the air.
Out from the flash, his... torchic came out! Rosthrem curiously turned her head and observe the surrounding before even focusing on the furry tail pokemon.
Now that the opponent was poisoned, he could go for offensive, to which he commanded, "Rosthrem, use Night Slash!"

Despite the battle still marching on, the Sentret was suddenly losing a lot of its pep that it had summoned at the beginning of this scuffle. The poison now really doing a number on its health, the Sentret looked over to see the source of the poison being returned away from its curious eyes. About to growl out in annoyance that it wouldn't be able to get at it, a sudden stabbing pain in its stomach made it coil over into a ball once more. Although it hadn't wanted to do it, it was forced to use defence curl yet again. Sadly, for all the curls in the world, it would not alleviate its sickness. Instead the creeping poison would sap it dead no matter how defensive it was acting. With the poison's effects coming and going like the tides, the Sentret perked its ears slightly as it begun to feel a little better. Now able to stand up again on its two feet without clenching, it reeled back as it saw what it was up against next. Gone was the immobile cocoon from before but now was a feisty looking fire chicken just raring to go. With Alex sounding the command to unleash a Night Slash, Rosthrem went flying forward as a darkly aura began to engulf the chick's claws. Jumping up high enough into the sky to gain a lofty height above the Sentret, the Torchic agilely slashed around its claw from a one hundred and eighty degree angle, causing a fair amount of damage to the sickly Sentret. Knocking it backwards but shocked to see it stand right back up again thanks to its tail acting like a spring, Rosthrem fell to the floor and assumed a defensive position to prepare itself for whatever the Sentret had up its sleeves ...Amazingly, it wasn't much. About to lash out with its dull claws for a scratch, the furry little critter stopped half way as it felt the horrible effects of poison course through its veins once more. Letting out a sickly wail, it clutched its stomach and with a defensive curl, unwittingly went ahead using another attack. At this rate, it was begging the question as to whether it would even get an attack in at all! Tackzill's poison must have been a highly potent defence mechanism against would be predators. Watching the fur ball struggling in pain, Alex wanted to finish the battle quicker. He was quite ready to end this battle and get away from this pokemon. At least, the poison would disappear once the adrenaline of battle had gone when it fainted and rest.
"Finish the pokemon with Scratch!" he ordered Rosthrem.
The orange chick pokemon marched forward this time, without the glow on her talons, and readied for another strike on the opponent pokemon.
OOC: if my timing is right, yes to cascoon evolving. LOL.

As she neared it, the Torchic examined the Sentret and noticed just how sick it looked in its eyes. It was almost enough to draw sympathy from someone. Nevertheless, orders were orders and if it was at least knocked out unconscious, its body could naturally heal itself by the time it woke up. Leaping into the air, she maximised out the distance between her talons made a vicious rake at the furry mammal which made it screech out in pain. If it wasn't suffering from sharp stabbing pains on the inside, it was now the outside. Not feeling up to anything more, the Sentret borrowed back into itself once more to form a perfect defensive ball. Agonisingly gripping onto its stomach, the Pokemon quivered from time to time as it felt its body erupting into a sweaty fever. Surprisingly, despite the fact the poison was now well and truly taking its toll on the minute Pokemon along with it coursed through its veins a good few laps, it was still holding in there! Perhaps this Pokemon had some surprising Potential against the effects of poison. That or Tackzill's secreted very irritable poison to ward off foes. Wild Battle

Alex cursed in his head, how he got the timing wrong to end the battle. Clearly Night Slash was a better choice than scratch because it has more power. Clearly once the opponent pokemon goes into rest from the battle, the lack of adrenaline would eventually allow the body's immune system to dissolve the poison. Clearly he could have ended the fight sooner so that he can like, actually look for a squishy wurmple. But no! He had to take his timing wrong. Ugh, how could he. "Scratch again!" he ordered his torchic. It was not like he have other choices. The opponent pokemon looked weak enough, might as well let it rest. After all, his torchic could use a little training too. Training her on a wild pokemon could not hurt much, right? OOC: okay, now yes to cascoon evolving to dustox

Unraveling itself for the final time, the poison sent from Tackzill seemed to finally be finishing off this poor Pokemon. Sweating under it's thick layer of fur, the usually alert Pokemon just felt it's entire body droop. It felt sick to the very pit of it's stomach and really, it had no idea of what to do. Mind going foggy and eyes going blurry, the stripey tailed Sentret couldnt go on for much longer. Curses, it was all this trainers fault with his poison spiting Pokemon. Then that scratching chicken wasn't making it feel any better. Perhaps all this rolling up into a ball to build up it's defenses was a waste of time, as now it wished to deal back some pain. Moving onto all fours, the shaken Pokemon wobbled weakly, glaring over to the Torchic who seemed to be readying her next attack. But amazingly, the Sentret struck back first.
Gaining unimaginable speed considering it's current condition, the poisoned rodent sped across the grass, watery eyes narrowed as it closed in on Rosthrem. Due to it's already hardened body, the Quick Attack seemed to pack quite a punch once the two connected. The tiny bird being catapulted up into the air and landing back down with a heavy thud. Unfortunately for the Sentret, that was it. Crashing down to the floor itself, the Pokemon breathed heavily as the poison sunk in yet again. Feeling like it was about to throw up, the next blow from the Torchic was actually needed for it to gain a bit of rest. Powerfully clashing her talons against the back of the fallen Sentret's head, the blow was enough to send it into a state of unconsciousness. Well, now that it was resting atleast it could slowly heal from the poison.

OOC: Forget growl, learn ember.
IC: Just as the furry, tail-standing pokemon fainted from the poison and the talon of the torchic, Alex held out a pokeball, ready to get out of the crime battle scene. Just as he was reaching for Rosthrem's pokeball, she spit out a handful of tiny flames in the air from her mouth, cheery as she demonstrated her new move. He applauded as he didn't know what to say to congratulate her.
"Well," he began telling Rosthrem, "forget growl and we'll keep this ember."
The torchic turned her body around, facing her trainer, and jumped happily up and down as she had grown more powerful. Alex held out his pokeball and returned the pokemon, reminding it to rest for some more battles.
Then, just as one stream of light was returning the torchic, another stream of light randomly flashed from his pocket. His Tackzill had evolved inside of his pokeball, and became a colorful dustox. The moth pokemon flew around the trainer, flapping her wing merrily. Then she flew some more, behind Alex, and a few steps in front of him, she was just showing off her newly gained wings. It was evident that the shy wurmple had grown into a bold dustox. To add to the fun, the dustox playfully used her confusion and lifted her pokeball from Alex's hand.
"You evolved," he said, smiling, "congratulations!" He also added, "Now get some rest because I am looking for a wurmple to evolve into a beautifly as well, okay?"
Tackzill was both happy that he was congratulated and sad that she had to return to the pokeball. But, she wanted to have fun flying. Oh well, maybe next time. Tackzill voluntarily returned to her pokeball, which she was playing with her confusion earlier. Alex leaped forward and grabbed the pokeball from midair, and then shoved it into his pocket.
Then, with a pace of his feet, he began running for a few steps away from this resting sentret and also looking for another wurmple, hopefully his feet won't be bumped by another pokemon again.
